We had the premade pizzas at Mayfest. My girls absolutely loved the style of pizza. Very thin, crispy and no "flop". The ladies working the truck were really nice and had great attitudes. Only thing we wished for was the sauce was kind of bland. More oregano and hint of basil would definitely make this pizza sauce better. Bummed that this was my Mother's Day reservation choice. Everything was mid. The red sauce, the Marsala and they...ran...out...of tiramisu...on Mother's Day. How did they not account for a ton of women who are hardly celebrated but one day a year and NOT load up on the wine and dessert? My Prayer Partner wanted to eat here, of course I said, yes. There's a few Hostesses waiting to greet you. Our waiter came to the table pretty quickly with the drinks. I got the Alfredo Penne Pasta and I added the Chicken for $6 more. It was a generous portion and the Alfredo sauce was creamy. Russ offered me some more bread when he brought my plate out but, I never received it? We were seated next to the bar and it was pretty loud, too loud to do a Bible study. Ever since we visited the original al Campisi's in Dallas close to 50 years ago we have been big fans of Campisi's super thin, super crisp crust and flavorfully topped pizzas. Visited the Camp Bowie store today and am happy to report that the ship is still today on course. We did a custom... Italian sausage, pepperoni, white onions, mushrooms, and green olives. So good! Our server, James, was perfectly attentive and though nothing can compete with the ambiance of the original store, this location has a very enjoyable old school Italian restaurant ambiance. read more

The service was AWFUL and I will never go back. I believe our waiter was also bartending so we got literally no service and when he did come around, he was short with us and rude. We visited Campisi's during our anniversary week "staycation." My wife and I had a great time playing tourist in the DFW area. We were "hitting all our favorite spots and, of course, Campisi's was on the short list. My wife and I BOTH love their trademarked oval thin crust pizzas and their wonderful salad with their signature Italian dressing. The salad is plain and simple but with so much goodness that is enhanced by all the parmesan cheese that is incorporated in the salad. Totally yummy and delicious. It was a beautiful day to be able to sit outside and enjoy a beautiful May afternoon with a nice breeze keeping us comfortable. We both enjoyed our salads while waiting on our pizza to be delivered to our table. The pizza was hot and crisp with the perfect number of toppings and gooey cheese. Oy my goodness we were wanting more, almost sad we didn't order a larger size. Service was wonderful during our visit and yes, we'll return again sometime soon. Great location in Fort Worth. They offer indoor and outdoor seating. We came at 1230 and this place was packed. Food was good and hot. Service was also very good. You can't go wrong with Campisi's. This is your classic Italian restaurant with low lighting, candlelight flickering from red votives on every table, Frank Sinatra playing, and black and white photos of the owner (Joe!) and all his lovely family filling each wall. Campisi's first opened in the late 40s, so they're big on nostalgia at all 9 of their locations (8 in Dallas, 1 in Fort Worth). The menu is what you already know and love. Pasta, pizza, salad, meatballs, garlic toast. All the good, simple stuff. Lasagna. Eggplant parmigiana. Shrimp scampi. Grilled sausage and peppers. Veal scaloppini. Tiramisu, cheesecake, Italian cream cake, oh my! I ordered the gluten free pizza with pepperoni, jalapeño, and mushrooms while Jon went with the chicken piccata over angel hair noodles. The portion was pretty small for an $18 chicken and pasta dish and it was kinda bland, but the chicken was really moist and delicious. He and Winnie also shared the house bread (a sliced French baguette) and butter, which smelled so good. Winnie was very into the bread! My gluten free pizza was also stellar. The crust was super thin, sturdy, crispy, and flavorful. There were lots of toppings; thick slices of mushroom, so much wonderful cheese, plenty of pepperoni, and tons of pickled jalapeño. My mouth was burning a little, but it was a pretty perfect pizza -- especially with good company and a glass of Chianti. read more

Our friends suggested this place and we met them there after making a 6:15 reservation.. our friends arrived before us but when they sat them with two menus and two plates with silverware. I left my phone in the car and had to get it to be able to take pics. On my way to the car I grabbed two menus and took them back to our table as I had yet to any wait staff. I came back from the car and still no one had visited our table. Then someone appeared with one water (there are 4 of us). Then left. My friend looked at me and said it's going to be a long night. I told the men folk to stop talking because when she comes back we are going to get one shot at this. We ordered our drinks. One Michelin Ultra, one chocolate margarita (hubs had very little sleep due to his job) correction one chocolate martini, one Italian margarita and at the waitress suggestion a tequila sunrise. We ordered sausage and mushroom pizza, shrimp scampi a full order of crab legs, artichoke hearts and meatball. SERVICE WAS SLLOWWWW. so slow. Our friend ordered another Michelson Ultra and it took 20 minutes for us to get it. I actually saw our waitress just walking around the dining aimlessly. Hubs said pizza was ok, the meatballs were terrible, artichoke hearts were very greasy and crab legs were weird and fishy smelling/tasting. We left to sit on their patio to continue talking as the temp had dropped a couple degrees. I wouldn't go back. The food was sub par and service was almost non-existent. This may be a restaurant that does a lot of to-go as we say 10 cars come in and carry food away. Dining room was 1/3 full on A Saturday. I was extremely disappointed in my visit today. I walked in and there was no one, literally no one working. I stood at the hostess station for almost 10 minutes. There was not a hostess, or a bartender or a manager to be seen. Eventually a waiter walked out from the back, looked directly at me and continued on his way. Finally someone again appeared from out of the back and asked if he could help me. His attitude was poor, it was as if I put him out to be there. The place was drab and the atmosphere was dark. Everyone had a poor attitude, they were very short and acted as if they were angry or unhappy and didn't really care about waiting on you. I used to love this place, but after this visit it feels like there must be a lot more going on than meets the eye. The food was mediocre at best this time. I don't think I'll be back. Argued about my salmon medium or well done.. if you eat salmon you know. Asked for reduced salt (I'm a heart patient) so much salt I couldn't eat it. I've struggled to find an Italian eatery to add to my rotation of "go-to" restaurants for so long. Luckily, I finally gave Campisi's a try (located on Camp Bowie), and it's now become a place I'll most likely frequent once a week. They have a nice selection of lunch specials Monday through Friday until 4pm, which include a complimentary salad and garlicky toast per order. Their happy hour is also Monday through Friday that lasts from 4pm-6:30pm and is a steal if you're there for some bar bites. Each only costing $5, this is a great time to try a few of their appetizers or a personalized pizza. (Happy Hour prices are only honored in the bar/patio area & also are limited to certain locations.) I've only been here twice around the times of a late lunch/early dinner. Older couples, young families with babies, grandparents with toddlers, groups of coworkers, and a group of ladies that lunch seemed to dot the dining and bar area both times I dined here. Their customer base obviously ranges wide. The ambiance inside is dimly lit with a few TVs dotting the walls. I can see how this spot is both a great place for a date night and at the same time a nice choice to meet with family and friends. Overall, the portions and prices are fair. The flavor of the food is nothing over the top - not too salty or overdone. Everything tastes cooked to order and the menu itself is very approachable. My date particularly LOVES their salad that comes with most meals. So far, I've tried: Sausage and Peppers - the sausage was a little dry and probably wouldn't order again. But glad I tried it. Toasted Cheese Ravioli - the filling was surprisingly creamier than I expected. Calamari - I'm a sucker for calamari. Theirs is light and crispy. Chicken Marsala w/fettucine alfredo - Savory flavor, lovely portion. The chicken was a bit dry, but seasoned well. Eggplant Parmesan w/fettucine alfredo - Delish Pasta Combo Plate - GIGANTIC PORTION! Definitely recommend sharing with someone. Tiramisu - zero coffee flavor, spongy, creamy, and came with caramel sauce. Not what I expected, but again, glad I tried it. Service is casual, friendly, attentive, and welcoming. I still want to try their Crab Claws, pizza, and maybe a meatball sub. I'll definitely be back soon! FYI - the difference between "Red Sauce" and "Marinara" is that the red sauce is a smoother sauce while the marinara is chunkier. read more

Pasta was dry and had no flavor. Bread was good but pasta really needed seasoning. Pasta had a weird aftertaste.

For Mother's Day, we came to Campisi's because it was the only restaurant we attempted to go to that could accommodate 8 people. The inside was intimate and appropriate for large gatherings. The hostess was nice, but unfortunately that is where (most of) the good ends. The cheesy bread and house salad were the best things to eat here. Everything else, while fresh, lacked a lot of flavor, especially the Alfredo sauce in the pasta. It was so disappointing because the food actually looks really good. Also, I felt like our waitress, while nice on a surface level, was visibly uncomfortable serving us. Considering we were a party of 8 black people, it was not a good experience for us. The manager was VERY uninviting and rude to his wait staff--you don't discipline your employees in front of customers while they eat. I hope the waitress he scolded in front of everyone gets a new job ASAP! Also, that same manager did not talk to a single customer in the restaurant when he wasn't doing anything. Never seen anything like it. Don't support this place. It is not worth your time or money. We will certainly not be back. read more
