So I got a lot to unpack here! I've been reading a lot of reviews after a friend suggested this market because I often cook Mexican. Some of the reviews were scary bad. Some really good. I read "best food ever". All of the way to worms in my food and how bad one guy got yelled at by the butcher for asking about the difference in some of the meats. Oh boy, todays the day!! Weird that I might've been a little uneasy walking in.... probably...not really .. Anyway, my middle child had some extra time because a class got canceled and I enlisted her for lunch and a look through the market. The market was not huge and I saw no wasted space. We did a, once around then headed to the back of the store where the kitchen and the butcher counter was. After figuring out the menu we stepped up to order. Knowing that even through the language barrier we nailed it. Except maybe "do rice and beans come with that quesadilla" or "yes you can buy rice and beans too"?? Luckily I was with someone easy to talk to because the food took a while. Not that it dominated the conversation but we talked about some of the reviews I read then the conversation shifted to how this market was reminiscent of the Italian family markets that we enjoyed so much when we lived in Pittsburgh. The food pictures should speak for themselves but It was really good. Mel had the Carne asada plate and I got a chicken quesadilla. We stopped by the butcher on the way out for some chorizo. I look forward to adding that to a new menu item at home. It's not a 5 star restaurant but I'll come back.

Even if he didn't want to go, due to my immense craving for the chips and queso, I would have ate alone...but he reluctantly agreed. We went on a late Sunday morning and the place was relatively empty. They had the garage roll-up doors open, which gave this location a cool vibe. We quickly ordered the chips and queso, one grilled fish taco (grilled or fried fish, red cabbage, cilantro, chipotle crema) and one texican (ground beef, lettuce, tomatoes and cheddar cheese). One thing I just love about this place is that you never have to wait for your chips and queso. We were served up a generous scoop of tortilla chips and that hot, crave-a-licous queso. Our tacos were done within a few minutes. The fish was tender and flaky, wrapped in a corn tortilla. The cilantro, cabbage and crema wrapped that fish with this amazingly fresh and herbaceous blanket of love. Every bite was scrumptious. My husband named the "Texican" to "a taco made for me" and then asked when we're coming back. Best day ever. Sitting out in the open air area was super nice, on a perfect 78 degree day. Can't wait to go back.

Always good! Consistent and quick. Can't go wrong. Great value and menu pricing, very affordable!read more

I finally stopped because I felt like I was starving to death and was already getting a headache & I always prefer to frequent a locally-owned business. I wasn't sure where to go to order but a kind gentleman greeted me and invited me inside the bus to sit on one of the benches and went to get Lupita. She came right out and the grill was already hot and she had the masa/dough already made, and I watched her roll a little ball of it and press it flat and cook it in front of me. That was one nice tortilla! I don't think I've ever had one that fresh, fresh off the grill! I had a basic chicken taco with cilantro and onion & lime juice and a bit of the milder green salsa. ¡Es un taco muy delicioso! The prices are comparable to taco trucks I've seen in the area or in Boise and drink prices and the variety offered are reasonable for the area as well. I had a $2 taco & 1.50 guava? nectar canned beverag that was nice and cold. It's the bus parked next to the house on the south side of the American Legion Building, not quite on the corner of 16th Ave South and 2nd St South in Nampa, but almost. As you go around the corner from 16th Ave. south and turn west onto the one-way street of 2nd St South, you'll see it immediately on the right through the parking lot on the corner, so it's very easy to get to and park as well.

The owner makes HOMEMADE tortillas. Not only are they homemade but she actually takes the dough ball, squishes it, and cooks it right there when you order it! We got 4 tacos and a burrito with beef, pork, and chicken as the meats. All were great but my favorite was the pork. So much flavor with just the right amount of meat and fat on it. The salsas also stood out as super flavorful. Not just your typical mediocre, passes as salsa, free salsa. Be careful with the red one though, that one has a serious kick to it! Try it- you won't regret it!
