Mi pueblito is a restaurant that is definitely loved and frequented by locals. You could tell that everyone knew we weren't local by some of the glares from patrons we received, but were warmly welcomed by the staff. We were quickly greeted and offered drinks, though my unhealthy obsession with Diet Pepsi could not be fulfilled here...they don't carry it (only Pepsi zero). It seems that most soft drinks are bottled only, which is fine but unexpected. We ordered waters, which were quite delicious and nicely iced. I ordered the huevos con chorizo, that comes with "Mexican " potatoes and refried beans. I received my meal pretty quickly. The downside? It took another 4 minutes before my husband's meal arrived. My eggs were perfectly cooked and the beans seemed very homemade. They had an enticing texture and taste. The potatoes were a great addition, with a nice pan roasted flavor. The meal comes with 3 corn or flour tortillas. Everything was piping hot. I loved every bite of my meal. Once my husband received his meal, he loved the flavor of his burrito as well, especially the rice, beans and nicely toasted tortilla. The menu has all prices blacked out so it's hard to gauge cost for a meal. For the quality of food, I found our meals priced accordingly...though I would have loved better soda choices. Gave this place another try based on the positive experience from our first visit. We ordered to go and wanted three tacos, but were advised tacos came in twos, so we decided to order four. ($7 for 2tacos) When we picked up our food and got home we ONLY received two tacos.. so that's annoying.. but our fault for not checking the tied bag we were given. Also Incase anyone didn't notice this there's a To-Go-Fee.. This was Interesting, because I've never seen this. Food was only okay this time around. I really wanted to like this place. We drove over from Star just to have lunch here. We're recent Southern CA transplants and we can appreciate good Mexican food. In addition, my wife is of Mexican heritage and she knows authentic when she sees and tastes it. We came on a Sunday morning about 11:15. The place was packed, and the patrons looked to be native Hispanics, so we were very hopeful. We waited about 10 minutes for a table. It is your basic cafe ambiance, plain tables and booths, with a counter at the far end. Two parties came in after us, and we were dismayed to see that their orders were taken before ours. We waited a while, then my wife had to flag down our female server. My wife ordered the chilaquiles with shredded chicken and I ordered a shrimp burrito. We waited way too long for our food, so much so that when it arrived our server apologized for the wait. The food was good, but not great. We are still on the look out for that outstanding Mexican restaurant. The search continues... read more

The Desayuno Chapin is amazing. Absolutely delicious. Wish I lived closer. But it makes for a nice treat when in the area.

Got the taco plate with pastor tacos which was good not great. Plenty of meat on the tacos but had some gristle which negatively effected the eating experience. Both the green and red salsa were pretty good. In my opinion there is better tacos in the area and I probably won't be back, but worth checking out and deciding for yourself if you're in the area. read more

Mi Pueblito is open every day but Tuesday for Breakfast & Lunch- they have great reviews for a reason! Authentic Mexican food, good flavors and a good variety on the menu to choose from. I think breakfast or a burrito is a safe bet here. They have been open for almost 7 years, and takeout is available. We came for lunch on a Monday and took the last open table. They have three tables and seven booths- not a big place at all. The chips and salsa basket was disappointingly small and they charge two dollars for refills which is a little off-putting. The salsa is definitely fresh and has good flavor without being too spicy. My husband ordered the chili Colorado burrito and I ordered the enchilada Suizas. His burrito was delicious and smothered in red sauce- a good sized portion for a filling lunch. My enchiladas were good, but there was hardly any cheese which was very disappointing. I want to see the melted cheese stretching off the fork when I take a bite! This cheese was hard to find. Each of our meals are served with a small portion of rice and beans but I felt it was just enough. I think I will try breakfast next time- maybe it will "wow" me! I've ordered the Chilaquiles from MI Pueblito three times now for brunch and each time have been so impressed. I've ordered them with red sauce and eggs over easy which I would highly recommend. Wow, this restaurant has really made some upgrades since the pandemic. They are easy to order take-out with three large screens displaying their upgraded menu. We sat down inside and ordered. Service is friendly and attentive. They do their salsa right with a tasty kick. I had the Desayuno Completo breakfast, consisting of seven components on the plate: carne asada, two eggs covered with ranchero sauce over corn tortillas, a quarter of avocado, queso fresco, mexican potatoes, and refried beans. It also came with three tortillas which really were not necessary. This dish was THE best Mexican breakfast I have ever had! Everything was tasty and complimented each other. My wife ordered the chicken fajitas and they were also very good, grilled with red & green bell peppers, and onions. The side of refried beans, rice, salad, and quacamole with tortillas was very tasty. The family does a good job running the place and it is a favorite of locals, of which we now consider ourselves one. Beware that they focus on breakfast and lunch, closing at 3:00 PM, but their prices reflect this making them a real value. The only downside is the entrance lets in cold air in the winter whenever the door is opened. Decor is typical strip mall but done tastefully. But this is a Caldwell gem for Mexican food. read more

This place is the best kept little secret in Caldwell. I want them to stay in business forever so I'm happy if I can help them reach MY goal. Mi Pueblito is nothing fancy but very cozy, clean, and comfortable. And the food!!! Wow.... So delicious. The prices are very affordable and, every time I've eaten there, the staff has been very gracious and friendly. On my last visit, I brought my brother who lives in the southwest. and he Loved it.... I only have one gripe; they're not open for dinner! I love this place. Run, don't walk, to Mi Pueblito. YUM! After a week of entertaining family and cooking, I decided to take a day off and try this place for breakfast. I bought two chorizo burritos which came with cheese, egg, and Mexican potatoes. The potatoes were soft but not mushy, had excellent flavor, and had peppers and onions. Wonderful! They also grilled the outside of the burrito which added the perfect crunch and extra structure without making it hard. Very good experience and we'll be back to try their lunch items. Located in a neighborhood plaza across from a elementary school right down the road from a middle school. Is this place worthy of a second visit? Not for me. Maybe the local neighborhood yes. I have feeling the meats come prepared for the restaurant to heat up. I ordered a Carne asada burrito. It was nicely loaded up. The meat was small pieces of meat including gristle. My thoughts are, if the meat is prepared by the restaurant parts of the meat wouldn't make it to the table. I still suggest to go. Support local and then you make you decision. read more

Mi Pueblito is a cute little Mexican restaurant that gives a Mexican feel by its cups for coffee to the salsa in their food. Great food and great service! The best choice for folks coming in from the Homedale/Wilder direction who want quality Mexican food at reasonable prices. Very clean, quiet (despite being busy), and friendly. Typical decor. My dad and I had the carne asada burrito (one each)and some of their freshly brewed iced tea. The burrito had lettuce, pico, beans, and a good amount of asada meat. My personal preference would have been more spice, but it was reasonably flavorful and they supplied lots of salsa to add to it.
