Not sure why, but it smelled like melted plastic when we walked in. Not a great start. I was concerned when I saw constant flare ups on the grill as our burgers were cooking. Not sure if they were using really high fat meat or bad cooking technique, but the grill was flaring up so badly that the flames were as high as the cook's head, and it flared up often often. As you'd expect from that kind of grill flares, both of our burgers were covered with acrid, bitter char. We both ordered medium, but they were blackened outside and well done inside. The texture was weirdly soft inside, to the point where my husband thought his was rarer than medium until he looked at the color. These were the smallest 6oz burgers I've ever seen. Between the small size and the constant grill flare ups, my guess is that they're using extremely fatty meat, and those issues are the result of rendering out a lot of excess fat. We both ordered deluxe cheeseburger combos. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger, my husband ordered a gyro cheeseburger, but we both found we only had cheese on our burgers. We were too hungry to wait for it to be remade, but they gave me some baklava to make up for it. The baklava was pretty good, tasted like it was mostly almonds with a little pistachio. Little bit on the oily side, but nice crisp phyllo and good flavor. The fries were nicely done. But when you go to a burger place, you expect a well-made burger, and this place did not manage that. $19 for a combo meal is way too much to pay for a burger that was burned to death by constant grill flare-ups. read more

We have been enjoying Canada Steak Burger for the last 20 years. Unfortunately today the food and presentation look totally different. My Greek salad was sloppy with the vegetables barely being chopped up. Lettuce is watery. The gyros have a different taste and were carelessly smooshed atop the salad. I like Canada Steak Burger a LOT primarily because this is one of the few places that sells Gyro burgers. They're extremely challenging to find outside of Chicago, especially one that's done well. Canada Steakburger does a great job. I've gotten both the single and the double gyro burger and both were cooked to perfection. The seasoning salt on the fries is additionally a nice addition and you get a good portion for your dollar. I additionally appreciate that despite that I ordered off of Uber eats, my meal still came hot. The only reason i didn't give 5 stars is because on another occasion i reared a gyro i stead of the Gyro burger. The image on Uber eats has fries in it so i was extremely confused when I received my order and there were no fries. On a separate occasion i ordered my fries separately but in comparison to the price of combos i feel like this cost far more than it should have. Still. The burger was huge, but unfortunately, the flavor of the meat was not rich. I wouldn't order the burger again. However, the Gyro Fries was great! The steak fries and gyro were both delicious. The gyro had better flavor than the meat in the burger. The way the onions were sliced in the Gyro Fries were pretty huge, and would have probably been better if they were finely sliced. Wanted to try somewhere new - found this restaurant conveniently located in a small strip mall next to the 805 freeway entrance. Ordered gyro plate (came with French fries, Greek salad, pita Bread, tzatziki sauce, salad dressing, and fountain drink) for 15.99 and was delightfully surprised that I could not finish what looked like an average portion size for an extremely hungry adult. Even with my toddler helping me eat the soggy unseasoned fries (learn from my mistake, ask for this in a separate container), soft pita bread, and tasty gyro meat, we still have plenty leftover. We also ordered a bacon cheeseburger meal and a side of ranch sauce (50 cents) that my husband deemed unremarkable. They're pretty good here... almost as good as their City Heights location but I wish their meat was as charbroiled as the other location does it. The meat here is very reminiscent of carnitas which is good but not grilled to smoked perfection. To each their own, right?
