What a place to get great tasting Peruvian-style chicken. Based on the constant stream of to-go customers, there must be good food here. I got the Anticucho de Pollo. This a very good chicken dish (skewered and wonderfully marinated), full of good spices that really brings out the chicken taste. Wow! I stopped by Canastas instead of cooking dinner and they did not disappoint! When you walk in there's a full menu you with a plethora of options and you can see your side options through the serving bar. I went with the 1/4 chicken (dark meat) with green breads and fried rice. I also ordered an extra side of plantains (perfectly ripe and sweet!) The service was great and they were patient as I figured out what I wanted. Theres space to sit inside, and a patio to enjoy as well. I definitely see this place being part of my dinner rotation when I don't feel like cooking. Everything was flavorful and delicious. Oh and the sauces! How could I forget?! Soon as i open my car door i could smell some good flavors coming from the outside. I heard only good things about this restaurant. We took another shot once again to see if this restaurant will be as good as chicken fiesta. When I arrived inside, I was greeted immediately and placed my order. There was a 10 minute wait on the pork chops. As I waited for my food, more people came in. So that was a good sign to me. Once we arrived home and opened up the containers, the aroma from the chicken hit us in the face. The pork chops had that chargrill flavor we like and it was tender to eat. The chicken was not dry or tough. The sides are decent portions and are bursting with flavor as well. Hands down this will be my go to restaurant for that grill flavor I love so much. I love me some Peruvian Chicken! This charcoal rotisserie chicken ranks high on my list! The skin is nicely seasoned and the chicken is juicy and tender! I ordered the 1/2 chicken with cilantro rice with black beans and plantains for my sides, but the yucca was tempting! The garlic sauce was a perfect compliment to the chicken! It was all delish at $12. I also ordered a bottled tea, which brought my total to $16! Talk about sticker shock! Saw this restaurant mentioned several times on social media and decided to check it out. The first visit I tried the chicken. It was very flavorful and tender. For my sides I got the green rice and plantains; the green rice is tasty - I taste cilantro and that takes it up a notch for me. The plantains were cooked perfectly and they give you a lot... enough for two. My second trip I decided on the lamb chops and I enjoyed that nice wood fire/charcoal taste. I couldn't help but get the green rice and plantains again. If you're thinking of trying one of the traditional drinks, I would suggest the Maracuya (passion fruit). This location just opened this week so we stopped in to grab takeout one night. For under $40, we were able to get an entire rotisserie chicken (quartered for us), a seafood entree and two large sides (yucca & fried plantains). The food was delicious! The chicken has a really great flavor and the yucca was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. They also provide you with plenty of dipping sauces. The menu is very large but not overwhelming. There is plenty of parking available and they are in the process of opening up a large covered deck if you want to eat outside. The empanadas were made to order with chicken and cheese filling. I'd never had an empanada with a very distinct biscuit taste but it worked. Went on opening day, was waiting for this location to open. Definitely was not disappointed. All three locations are consistent with the quality of food. DELICIOUS food and awesome portion sizes. Fast service. Social distancing inside. Also saw people picking up their orders. There's a lot of variety on their menu to choose from. I usually go for the quarter white, mixed veggies and green beans but the Pollo Ever is really yummy. Everything is very well seasoned. Their yellow sauce is good but that green sauce is AMAZING, has a good kick to it if you like a little spice. Parilla dish has variety of grilled meats. The other side items are good as well they have fries, fried rice, cilantro rice (yum), yucca, and sweet plantains. So happy they have a location in the Southside now.
