The service and the food were amazing! Definitely recommend if you love Mexican food.

You probably won't get food poisoning, and the atmosphere is cheery. The food is decidedly midwest subpar. Not very mexican, or very texmex. The cheese tastes like white velveeta. Lots of shredded lettuce and pink tomatoes on dishes. Prices are fair, portions are good. But ultimately, I'd rather eat at Qdoba... which is a sad statement. Go next door to the Thai Princess instead. read more

This place is (arguably) the best Mexican Food on the East Side of Lansing. El Azteco lovers don't send hatemail! I love the El Azteco cheese dip as much as anyone, but this is a totally different experience. The food is very authentic. The staff is very friendly. The prices aren't too bad and they serve margaritas as big as your head (two-handers, for sure). Did I mention the margaritas as big as your head? Sorry, I think about them regularly. I have never had a bad experience OR bad meal here. That in itself should tell you something. I highly recommend Cancun. Even if you are not in Okemos it is worth the drive. read more

I love Cancun, both this location and the one off of Jolly Rd in Okemos. In my opinion it's the best Mexican food in the area, by far. I've read some other reviews saying the service isn't great but I've never had any problems, in fact I've always thought they provided great service! The food is extremely fast, you can get in and out on a work lunch hour with no problem at all. Love the chips and salsa, even if the salsa is a bit thin. Love the horchata too...yum! Guacamole is great and the tacos are delicious. They have a large drink selection too including margaritas as big as your head. I could go on and on but I'll end it by saying GO TO CANCUN GRILL! The waitstaff isn't the most friendliest, but they have one of the tastiest dishes I have ever eaten! You must get the ISMAEL SPECIAL. It's strips of marinated chicken breast, shrimp and rice. I don't even like rice that much, but this is the BEST! It's smothered in mexican cheese and is so flavorful. The shrimp are soooo good! The portion size is huge! Don't get the half order though- get the full, so you can enjoy leftovers later! read more

Im 28 born and raised in Texas up until two months ago when I moved up here, and this place is okay.. Not as authentic as the mexican food you will find from illegal immigrants running the restaurants down there but overall the experience was slightly entertaining. I would say this is more or less tex mex at best. read more

Their menu advertises items that they supposedly don't have. Orders a Mexican burger that comes with pick de Gallo and avocado but instead got onions mustard and tomato and then proceeded to ask for them to fix my order. The guy proceeded to say they didn't have a Mexican burger but Then he brought pico, avocado and jalapeño in a side dish and said that's how it's served....I ended up having to pay for it because they say they couldn't do anything about it. Fantastic! It's very hard to do Mexican food really well, and most establishments just end up being mediocre. The chicken quesadilla I had was well-seasoned and flavorful. The tortilla shell was perfectly crispy. Cancun's margaritas could have used a little less sugar and a little more alcohol, but they were still fine. read more

Looking for a shredded beef wet burrito. No shredded beef, but the waiter did recommend the steak. I got the dinner with all beans no rice -- as it usually has red or green bell pepper in it and I'm allergic. Could have used a bit more "Gravy", but it was very good! Chips and salsa excellent -- chips were crisp and not hard. There was someone by my table at least every 5 minutes to make sure everything was fine! Excellent Service! I'd have given a 5 star rating IF they either had the shredded beef or there were more steak in my burrito - seemed a bit "skimpy". read more

This restaurant is located in a strip mall near other restaurant options. Upon arriving we were immediately seated and provided menu. The restaurant has lots of seating. I ordered a meal that came with two chimichanga's (note about the menu pricing - 1 chimi is $10, 2 are $12. why would anyone ever order just one). The chimi was okay. My favorite Mexican restaurant. You can get a great meal for about $7 and would be hard pressed to spend more than about $15. Every meal comes with an endless supply of the best chips and salsa that you can find anywhere. The waiters are exceptionally friendly and very attentive. The dining area is nicely decorated with very bright colors. Beware that it gets pretty crowded at peak hours. I've eaten there a dozen times or more and always left stuffed and pleased. If you order fajitas, they will come with a tray of sizzling meat and vegetables that will attract stares and drool from other diners. read more

We were greeted and seated quickly on Friday 09-30-2015. I ordered Combo #3, which included a Taco, enchilada and Chilli Releno. We ordered soft drinks, which were brought promptly. Our food arrived within 6 min. of ordering, by a waiter with arm length oven mitt's ( which is a clear indicator that they favor the microwave vs actually cooking to order) although, my Chili Releno's outside was soggy. No crispness at all. I wanted to bring this to my servers attention right away, but he NEVER came back to check on us. When he brought our bill and THEN asked how everything was. I told him about my dissatisfaction with the soggy Chilli, he tells me that Chili Releno's do not HAVE to be crisp. I explained "perhaps no, but that is MY preference", and that I had wanted to let him know earlier, but he NEVER came back to my table. He simply left the bill on the table and walked away. Now, I have been a server for several years, and would do anything to make a customer happy. He just didn't seem to care at all!! I am very disappointed and will never return and will share this story with anyone who asks my opinion about Cancun. read more

I love Cancun, the atmosphere and food are amazing! The chips and salsa are so good but if you want to try something that you will crave get the queso. My favorite is the ismael special which is chicken and shrimp and chicken over rice with a creamy white sauce. I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

If you like awesome Mexican food on a Saturday nite, you will have to overlook the bitchy hostess that seats you here. She was not happy that we did not want to sit at a tiny two-top next to the door with the temp below 20 degrees. So she walked us past several empty spots to the very back of the restaurant to a two-person booth in a dark corner across the aisle from a garbage can and bus station. But we love their food and decided to stay. It's good we didn't let her dreadful service ruin our nite. Our food - huevos con chorizo and chilaquilles Mexicano - were great as always. And I'm guessing the waiter brought a very generous pour for our drinks to make up for the lousy hostess. Cancun serves the best Mexican food in East Lansing and Okemos but you will enjoy it more if you avoid it on a Saturday nite. read more
