At one point, I thought I ruined my mix, but our assigned specialist was able to help me recover it! Woot! The birthday girl and her family had so much fun after their first experience and they already want to go back! As far as the value, depending on what you want to make, it goes from $25+ per person, which is very reasonable for a DIY experience. We treated a friend for her birthday to this candle making shop. When we walked in they was another group of ladies already in their candle making process. What I loved was that you could make other items like a scented spritzer spray or roll on which most of bought since we had carry on bags. We had to be mindful of the size of products we purchased and the staff were very helpful with showing us related products. We were given a paper and pen and was informed to smell the candles on display and write down your favorites. I had about different scents on my paper and they were mostly floral scents. The staff then asked us to choose our favorite three and they recommended which scents blend well together. We had to pour three of the oils together and blend it to a scent you like to complete your final product. I purchased the spritzer and roll on. Two friends purchased a candle that we had to return and pick up because it takes few hours to complete. Overall we had a blast at this spot. The staff were cool and friendly. For $63 per couple, we each got to create our own custom 12oz coconut wax candles in limited-edition Valentine's jars, and it was totally worth it. They walked us through how to choose and blend scents, explained which ones pair well together, and made the whole process feel approachable and fun. You can really tell they love what they do. Lots of containers to choose from, tho I did discover that they do occasionally discontinue and replace them with new styles so don't count on getting the same one twice. Came here to make a candle with my friend. What a fun experience! It's like Build a Bear but with home goods. When you arrive, you pick out what you are interested in getting. There are various candle vessels of all different colors and size, as well as the option to make lotion or liquid soap! Candle prices start at $28. Then you go to a seat at the station and pick up the clipboard with a sheet where you write down the names of the scents from the pre-scented candles along the wall - there was probably over 100 scents to choose from. You then bring it to the employee/scent stylist where they ask you your top scents, and then they identify a variety of scent combos from that list and they bring out bottles of the scented oils for you to experiment with. You then put drops of the individual scents (up to 3 scents) into the mixing vessel and see if you like the smell. You can mix and match the scents you want until you like what you smell. Once the employee pours the coconut candle wax into your container, you pour your concoction in there, mix it up, and leave it in the shop to cure for 2 hours before you can bring it home. Lotions and soaps can be taken home immediately There are pre-made scented candles that you can purchase. There was a sale on these when I went. Cool team building activity! My coworkers & I decided to checkmout Candle Chemistry for our team building event. The studio is located in the heart of Kierland, with plenty of parking available in the garage. Alchemy was our chandler for the evening. When we arrived, we were given a clip board and asked to write down our favorite scents from the scent wall. Candle chemistry has a huge collection of scents to choose from. After you select your favs, you select the size candle you want. From there, we were able to measure out the scent oils. This is where the real chemistry begins! I felt like a scientist mixing up all my selections. After you are finished, you leave your candles at the shop for 24-48hrs until they are finished. I am visiting from Chicago. Visiting the store was one of the activities that my sister planned for us on my final day in town. As we approached the store, the doors were wide open, and we realized a repugnant stench. We were puzzled, but thought perhaps it was something in the street. As we entered the store the two women working there, stared at us and did not bother to speak. We had to say hello instead of being greeted by them or even feeling welcomed. After we greeted the employees , only one of them replied (a blonde woman) and the other (brunette) did not. She only stared at us. The blonde employee asked how she could help us and we advised that we were there to create our own lotions. She proceeded to hand us the mini clipboards and explain that we should smell the various candles and then write down the scents we are interested in. There was no one else in the store. As we proceeded to attempt to smell the different candles, we realized the stench that we smelled as we approach the store was not dissipating. It was only lingering within the store, which was very distracting to our ability to smell the candles, and it compelled us, in addition to the cold greeting we received, to leave and not remain. We visited a chemistry and candles in a nearby location. We think they were aware that there was an issue within the store and it was very offputting that a place that promotes scents and good smelling items would attempt to pretend that there's nothing wrong instead of apologizing and explaining to us what's going on within the store and then giving us the option of whether or not to remain. The smell was sickening, and we knew if we had remained any longer not only would that be counterintuitive to our ability to complete our project, but we also were certain we would be ill. read more

I was in Arizona for the weekend for my bestfriend birthday. I found this place on Yelp and had to pay a visit. Since, We're obsessed with candles what better way to make our own. We had such an amazing time creating a candle. First you choose your favorite scents. (Don't do like I did and choose 10+.) b/c When it came down to narrowing to 3 it was hard. Can I say just how much I absolutely love this place?? I had no idea waking in that not only can you make candles but you also can make body butters, sugar scrubs, body lotions, body sprays, wax melts, car diffusers AND bath salts. Upon walking in, I was greeted by the staff and explained the process. Step 1: You grab a clipboard, you go to the wall to smell all of the different candles and jot down any of your favorite scents. Step 2: You go pick up your base for what you are planning to make (candle, body butter,, etc) Step 3: You work with their staff who will help guide you and offer recommended scent mixes based on your selection. I opted to do a body lotion and body spray while my girlfriend opted to do a sugar scrub and body spray. The instructions were super simple to follow and both Ashlee Hill & Nicole were rockstars in guiding us and just talking with us about the fragrances, candles, etc. Once our items were made, we were provided stickers and markers to brand our stuff. They then packaged them up in these super cute bags. This place is perfect for a date night, private party or just about anything you can thing of from a bachelorette party to a birthday party. Place is super swank and sophisticated. I paid a total of $44 for both a huge lotion bottle and body spray that was created by me for me so totally worth it in my opinion. Went in on 4/22/23. What a fun and unique opportunity! 4 of us came in and I believe we had Morgan assisting us. She was patient and went over the process explaining all our options. You're handed a sheet where you head over to their wall and smell various scents. You jot down your top 8. Then from there you can narrow to your top 4. After you have your top 8 scents the person helping you/your party will color code which scents work best together. You then go pick whatver size/type of candle, sugar scrub, sanitizer, hand soap, bath salt or body butter jar size you'd like, then from there you test try mixing the color coded blends until you pick the blend that your prefer & pour the blend into the item you selected from what I mentioned above (ex: candle, hand soap etc). The candles cure in 2hours so you can shop while they cure of come back next day. They hold your candle for up to 3months (for those who might forget). You pay day of and the prices are really affordable considering what some will pay at those bath/body type of stores. Great for friends, a date or family quality time. I appreciate soy wax this business supplies as opposed to regular wax. When extinguishing a soy wax candle, I find no smoke residue. :) 2. They offer soy wax melts, aromatic mists, reed diffusers and wedding party gifts to customize. 3. Wholesale and fundraising opportunities are available. 4. Since it takes two hours for a candle to set, I would plan to create your items then dine or shop while you wait or you can pick up another day. 5. It is nice to support a twin-family started company. 6. Established in March 2019. 7. A Gilbert location is planned for late 2022 near Gilbert Rd and Vaughn Ave. 8. When I went on June 24, 2022 the candle prices started at $25+ 9. I purchased a 16 oz wood wick custom candle $40 (I thought a tad pricey) and an 8 oz custom candle $25. I will say this is a great date/ girls day activity, it's a lot of fun smelling all the amazing scents & creating something of your own! Some scents were stronger than others, but I feel like when you actually put them in your candle it is very faint.. The main reason I am writing this review is because of the CANDLES (so if you're going to create something else you can pass over this review). I would probably go in to make a lotion or something to give the experience another try, but NOT for the candles as you can read below.. First off they are pricey, the scent is very minimal, the service was average if not below that.. but MOST importantly, these candles produced an INSANE amount of soot in my house (1 candle in particular that I had to throw away because it was so bad)! The soot was incredibly hard to get off my walls, shutters, white cabinets, it even managed to get into our noses because we were blowing black stuff out of our noses every day we had the candle lit.. by day 3 of having this candle & realizing that was the cause we threw it away immediately even with it being still over half way full! My boyfriend and I made 3 different candles because we are so indecisive, but we also enjoy having candles around the house so it's not like we wouldn't use them! I have to say making the candles is pricey.. I understand you're paying for the experience/ the jar, but I could learn to make them myself or just go out & buy several large candles with a stronger scent for that much! For 3 small sized candles we paid about $143.. maybe the other stuff is less, but the candles were expensive! I asked if they have a recycle program where if you bring back the jars you could do a discounted candle & they said the manager could take off $1 lol.. Regardless of that, I was a little disappointed with the employee interaction. I feel like our candle chemist seemed like they were too good for the job and didn't care to be there (also, this was in the summer so it may be different now) but just some insight on what could've made the experience better! I would not recommend making a candle due to what we experienced, BUT maybe creating something else would be a better option! I still think it is a great concept which is why I gave it a 3 instead of a 2.. everyone's experiences could be different! read more

So much fun! My husband and I stopped in to make a candle. You get to smell from a wall of scents then create a list of the ones you like. Then you get to choose which container you'd like for your candle. Then they tell you what scents they think will go to get her best. We started off with chai, brandy, and bourbon, but ended up changing out minds and going for midsummer night, sea breeze, and kumquat. We got to pour it into the little mixing up to come with the perfect scent ratio, then mixed it with the wax! Basically you get a fill out form and decide on your favorite smells and candle flavors. Once you decide , you finally sit down and someone helps you get the oils to make your candle. Truly a fun time and the employees here are very patient and kind. Worth every penny for the experience and extremely happy with the results . The folks at the counter help you pick which ones will go together. Then you have to pick a container to put it in. Lots of super cute choices. 3. You have to wait after. It's about 2 hours once you're done that you have to wait to pick them up or you can come back at a later time up to 6 months later! We ate before but if I ever come back I'd do this first and the go eat. That would be perfect. But not a big deal we walked around and shopped. 4. Parking can be tricky but note there is a whole free parking garage behind their location. This was much more fun than I had anticipated. The staff was so great. After writing down a few of my favorites it was time to meet with my mixologist and narrow down my list. My absolute favorite was Anjou Pear. I also told her that my favorite candle from another company is a lemon tea scent. Earl Grey Tea was also on my list so we mixed the two together and I really liked it. Honeycrisp was also on my list so we added a little to make the perfect scent for me. While we were waiting for our candles to cool we had lunch nearby. It was interesting to hear everyone's different combinations. It turns out that I was not the only one that picked up some of their premade scented scrubs. Which are great by the way!
