I realized something funny recently....I tend to completely forget to review the places I visit the most and eat.... I've been coming to Pampanga's Bakery in Artesia for a while now, and it's long overdue that I actually give them their flowers. If you are looking for authentic, comforting Filipino baked goods and kakanin, this is the gold standard. Every time I walk in, the shelves are loaded with staples. Their selection of kakanin is also massive. The **Puto Assorted** and **Puto & Kutsinta** packs ($3.90) are always perfectly soft, vibrant, and fresh, and they have massive trays of **Biko Pandan** and **Cassava Cake** if you're feeding a crowd. For the savory side, the **Chicken Empanadas** and **Fried Lumpia** always hit the spot. And of course, there's the **Turon**. Yes, the price has risen to $1.05 a piece, but honestly? It's just modern economics, and it is still worth every single penny. It is still the absolute best of the best--shattered-crisp, perfectly caramelized on the outside, and packed right. They have excellent turon but I'm giving 2 stars and this is why: We have been coming to this place for years because of their perfectly sweet turon. One thing they have always been consistent about is the quality of their turon--and unfortunately, the long wait times as well. There have been several occasions when we had to pay and come back later because of the high demand for their product. Because we live about 30 miles away, we were advised to place our orders by phone before making the trip, which is exactly what we've been doing. Yesterday, however, we experienced one of the most inefficient customer service experiences we've ever had. We called multiple times to confirm our order, and the staff who answered assured us not to worry because they had plenty available and that our order would be ready when we arrived. When we got there, the exact opposite happened. We were told they had run out of turon and that we would need to wait another hour. While discussing the situation with the cashier, we watched another staff member assist the customer behind us, who purchased 60 pieces. We had preordered only 30 pieces, yet somehow they were able to fulfill that larger order while failing to honor ours. Poor customer service will eventually drive customers away. Yes, the product is excellent, but there will come a time when the product alone is no longer enough to keep customers coming back. Given the popularity of their business, they should be focusing on improving their customer service and honoring preorders to maintain customer loyalty. I'm very disappointed with my purchase this morning. I specifically bought what was labeled as egg pie, but when we opened and sliced it at work, it turned out to be coconut "buko"pie instead. This is not just a small mistake--people choose products based on what's labeled, especially with food preferences or allergies in mind. Getting a completely different item is frustrating and unacceptable. I called the store, and the only response I received was that it was "labeled wrong" and a simple apology. Unfortunately, that doesn't resolve the issue or make up for the inconvenience. I hope the store takes better care in labeling their products moving forward to avoid misleading customers. read more

It stays crispy longer than other competitors Turon. It's great for family gatherings or parties. The price for one was $1.05 which was so reasonable. I also purchased Ube rolls, chicken empanadas and the pork steamed Siopao. I also bought frozen Longanisa and Ube Hopia. My favorite items so far have been the delicious fried banana Turon, and the steamed pork Siopao. The steamed pork Siopao was $9 for four Siopao I found the chicken empanadas and the rolls were dry. Got the Turon (think dessert plantain lumpia) and Ube Malasada (ube dessert bread roll). The Turon was so fire, I mean, it's like in my opinion, a dessert of the best form factor. Easy to hold, crispy, not overly sweet, and FRIED. The Malasada was good, although I think it was a bit too sugary for me. But I can definitely find myself craving it on occasion. The service was great, the prices are really affordable, and it's definitely a family run local spot that you could add to your monthly rotation. I thought that all the bread and the siopao we got there were pretty good. I got the ube leche bread, some pan de sal, some turon and the pork siopao. We like it all, I wished the ube was a little stronger, but it was still good. The turon was nice and crispy and the siopao was decent. My son asked for 2 specific things on his birthday and turon was one of them. He sent me to pick up a box and I obliged not even knowing what it was. It's kind of a hole in the wall, but since his birthday, I've been back 2 more times and I think it's an addiction now Lol. The ladies behind the counter are very helpful and the turon is AMAZING. The stand out for me was their turon (a fried Filipino snack containing sliced banana/plantain, jackfruit, and a caramelized brown sugar shell). Most turon I have tried are usually the dimensions of a cigar or spring roll. Pampanga's Bakery has a slimmer, lengthier profile which provides a thinner egg roll cover, and I dig that their caramelized sugar coating is not so dense. I believe a local bakery in Artesia is considered a Philippines-style bakery. It's a small store, but it has a wide variety of baked and fresh goods! There was a huge line that was here during lunch time getting all the different breads they offer. Since we were in the area, we had to try their popular turon. There was a line when we walked in, but they were super efficient and it moved pretty fast. Everyone was right about the hype. Pampangas is one of the best little hole in the wall Filipino bakeries around. I prefer them over Valerios and Red Ribbon across the street. They legit have the best Turon(banana spring rolls) imo. Pampanga Bakery is an awesome Filipino Bakery that I recommend to everyone. What they're known for are their turon and their Filipino breads. I like their dupe of the senorita bread that they sell across the street at Starbread. Their turon is a caramelized banana in an eggroll wrapper and it's a perfect dessert. I came here to grab some snacks before heading the the library and I'm so glad I did. I got the turon, the pork bun, and the mini empanada. This was my first time trying a Turon and it was addicting. It was very similar to the friend banana dessert that Vietnamese people have except it has a sugar coating on the outside. The pork bun really surprised me. They were closed a couple of days around the the new year but glad that they opened just in time for our next get together just a couple of days after the new year. We just had some turon from another Filipino place and though it was also good, I can definitely tell that the ones from Pampanga's is much better. Flavorful and crunchy! On occasions that we don't finish them all right away, I simply put them in the refrigerator and reheat in the air fryer and they're crunchy again and still delish! Ordered palabok and a box of turon (banana egg rolls) to go. The noodles sauce were just plain although I appreciate the thicker noodles. The small container was $6.59 excluding tax. The turon was still crunchy and coated with sugary syrup. For 99 cents a piece, the banana inside was small. I was expecting at least a strand of jackfruit but didn't taste it. You can buy boxes of 15 turons or higher. I looked at their ready made dishes and nothing was appetizing. Looks like it was just sitting there for a long time since we came at 3pm. I really like their food here. This is the place we go to for turon but if I call for a pick up and you ask for a specific time, please let it be ready by that time. I called today for a 3pm pick up time. My husband got there at 345, they told him that it'll take 15 mins. It wasn't ready in 15 mins. He waited for more than an hour. It's the best Filipino bakery I've been to: serving up some of the tastiest (and most inexpensive) bakery items in the area. Open since 2019, Pampanga's Bakery in Artesia is the original location (with a second location now in Stockton). I learned about it from Eater-LA's list of best Filipino restaurants, and friends bringing their baked goods to my daughter's wedding last year. So while we were in Artesia to run errands, the three of us decided to stop in, and ended up picking quite a few things to bring back home. All of it was good, most were great, a few were phenomenal. The name comes from the province of Pampanga, located north of metro Manila in the Philippines (an interesting tidbit is that a municipality in the province is Mexico, a town of population of 174,000 and the home of the Filipino Gen. Maximino Hizon). The largest ethnic group in the province is Kapampangan (84%), who are famous for their cuisine, especially their breads and pastries. Turon is an example, and there are plenty of social media posts (including reviews here) extolling the virtue of this bakery's version. There are quite a few Filipino bakeries in Los Angeles County, and Pampanga would be the first one to take any out of town guests. It's a decent size, with decent parking, in a modern space, accepting credit cards. We bought a mixture of wrapped breads, fresh day-old bread, and items from the point-point buffet. My absolute favorite was the fresh ube malasadas (Portuguese donut)...so simple. It was as tasty as any malasadas that we've had in Hawaii, but with the sweetness accentuated from ube (also giving it a royal purple color)....and an absolute steal at 3 for $1.75. A definite must get if not sold out. They were out of the ensaymada, so instead got one american ube roll ($1.29) and american cheese roll ($1.29). Both were great, with layers and layers of puff pastry making it very delicate, crispy crunchy, with a perfect amount of sweetness. The final item I got from the 'fresh' section was senorita bread (Spanish bread), 5 for $2.50. They were small (probably two bite worth), but just perfect as a quick snack when wanting something sweet. The inside had sugar crumbs, and some of the filling had leaked and caramelized at the bottom to form a small sugar 'skirt'. Loved it. For the wrapped bakery items, The Ube Haba Haba ("length-length"), a longer loaf of bread for $5 stood out to me. I've been eating a slice or two, and can attest its very good even a day later. My mother-in-law picked up a roll of hopya with mungo beans ($4.75) and a package of pandesal ($5.49), both styles I've had before. She also grabbed some hot items from point-point hot station: medium palabok ($8.99) and a fillet of milkfish cooked in soy sauce (adobong bangus for $6.99)...prices being very reasonable. Both were good. In all the breads and desserts made with ube, it wasn't overly done, but added just enough to make it a pastry without going over the top (this bakery clearly understands the concept of Asians liking the balance of sweetness, i.e. 'not too sweet'). Even the cream cheese frosting and powdered sugar were all added in moderation, to produce a nice balance. In terms of service, there will be a wait, but the line wasn't too long and the server was patient and helpful. Credit cards are accepted. What I'll remember most about the visit is how almost all the items looked good (which they usually do on an empty stomach), but tasted even better after we had our lunch. Came in on a Saturday and was in line for an hour just to order a box of turon. Call in advance and check the wait time, I managed to put it my order in advance which they don't normally do but I guess it was my lucky day. I waited in line for an hour, but once I paid and ordered I only waited another 5mins and they had my order ready. Usually people would come in, pay in advance for a future pickup time and then you can wait in the other line on the right, but if you did not pre-order/pre-pay, you wait in the long line like the rest of us. The wait wasn't too bad as I got to talking to a really wonderful pinay lady. I have yet to try their entrees, which I found out from others are pretty good but I was here for the infamous turon and it did not disappoint. First time I heard of this place was November 2025 when my daughter ordered their turon (banana wrapped in egg roll wrappers and deep fried) for her party. I knew then that I had to get more. I have been back a few times since but this review is specific to my two most recent visits this weekend. This place is usually packed with people in line so I came really early (like 7:30am early) on Saturday. I ordered turon and their other popular bread, the seniorita. The lady who assisted me was really nice and was patient with me as I ended up doing different transactions. This is all because I kept seeing food that I wanted to try. She took a pre-order of turon for Sunday and when I came to pick them up, she already had them ready. The place is a decent size and they keep it clean and food is also made fresh. While I've only purchased from the bakery, they also serve hot meals which I will try next time.
