To start off, I live in Chicago, Illinois or mathematically 2000 miles away from Candle Light Bakery. My boyfriend however, resides in California. We were both waiting to hear about a last-minute promotion for his job and when he got it, I wanted to surprise him with some sort of congratulatory sweet. Living so far away makes it harder though because 1. I'm not familiar with the area, 2. same-day shipping can be incredibly costly, and 3. many business were closed due to the stay-at-home order in CA. After vigorously searching all over Yelp, I came across Candle Light. Their phone line remained busy for about an hour, but being desperate I decided to keep attempting. After a little while though I was able to get through (this was also during, what I'm assuming, high peak hours 5-6 pm). I explained my situation to Marissa and asked if I could possibly place an order for a cake. Now, I haven't had the pleasure to speak with other Candle Light Bakery employees, but if they're sweet as Marissa, they're for sure getting my business. She was incredibly patient with me and gave me a rundown of each individual cake I could purchase over the phone (there was a specified $ limit). I was able to purchase a chocolate ganache cake with custom writing for such a reasonable price! Not only was it such a pleasant phone call and experience with them, but they also allowed me to gift a beautiful cake that both my boyfriend and I gushed over in two separate states. My boyfriend and I have not been able to see each other for four months because of COVID-19 and this surprise was everything we needed to celebrate. For that reason, once I'm able to safely fly out to California, Candle Light Bakery will be the first business I visit. Thank you Candle Light for again, such a pleasant experience and a big hug to Marissa for making my surprise a good one! The cake exceeded my expectations entirely and the writing on it was beautiful. Boyfriend also said the cake was delicious! I wanted to share my recent experience at your bakery, as I believe customer feedback is important for improvement. When I visited your bakery to order a cake, I was disappointed by the service I received. I waited for over 30 minutes just to get pricing information, during which I felt ignored and treated rudely by the staff. This experience left me frustrated, and I ultimately decided to leave without placing an order. I value good customer service and decided to visit French's Bakery instead, where I received excellent service and was able to order a great cake quickly. I've gotten numerous people (including whole families) hooked on the cakes from this spot. The Napoleon, their best seller, is your traditional white cake with fruit on top, a lovely puff pasty middle and fluffy whipped cream. I also LOVE their chocolate cake with chocolate ganache. That chocolate whip that is in it is simply D I V I N E. Ugh, I'm salivating. I get one for every one of my birthdays along with everyone I know's birthday. Haha! Always friendly and they always get my order right! They should be opening their new spot (bigger and only a few doors down) in about 2-3 weeks. Can't wait for the Intelligentsia coffee :D read more

You must get the CHOCOLATE GRANACHE!!! It is hands down their best tasting cake there. It the one covered in all chocolate and with 2 strawberries ontop...it looks fancy...yeah that one. I've been a long time fan, before it was renovated and became candlelight. Their cake is moist and delicious. It literally melts in your mouth. I've ordered all types of cakes here, from their smallest to the tiered cakes costing over $400. It gets really crowded here so im glad theyre opening up more locations i believe in cerritos and south gate, but not sure. read more

I was attending a party in the city of Downey and needed to pick up a cake. That is when I discovered Candle Light Bakery. I have been a cake customer for about a year and every single cake has been delicious. The cakes are always moist and taste very fresh. Our absolute favorite is red velvet and cream cheese. One more thing the young lady at the counter is very sweet. She has helped me with special ordered themed cakes and every one was better than imagined. Yes, there's something wrong with you if you don't like this bakery. Humans by nature are complainers and it erks them to write something good. Trauma is root cause. This place has the best customer service I have ever experienced! I was shopping around for a wedding cake and went around town to more than a few places and finally settled here. I love decor so I noticed how nice this place looks. The samples were delicious, they helped me choose tiers, layers, etc. If you don't have something good to write, seek therapy! read more

I have ordered so many cakes from here. They are absolutely delicious and beautiful. Im not a big sweets person, but this place does it for me. My friend actually ordered her wedding cake from here, and it was absolutely gorgeous. This is definite a must try. I mean they do have other sweets, like bread, cupcakes, jello, and they are all pretty good. Try the Horchata Cupcake, it is great! The only downer is that it gets really busy, specially on Thursday-Sunday. But I guess that shows how great their desserts are. read more

Came in today to get a cake for my boyfriends birthday. He's really picky so I didn't know what to get. Kimmy was the girl who helped me and suggested some different cakes for me She even went to the back to make a cheesecake with mixed fruit instead of blueberries for me. My boyfriend loved the cheesecake it was really good. Ill definitely be coming back $30 is kind of expensive for a cheesecake but the service is great is worth it. It was my first time here at candle light bakery and I don't think I'll recommend it cause of the ladies ( specifically A girl named Brianna ) is RUDE!!!! Every time I come in here she has this annoyed look on her face which isn't pleasant. She's rude when taking orders, rude helping others. It just makes my visit frustrating. These guys are about the worst cake decorators I have ever seen. I send in pictures and specific instructions on what I wanted 3 cakes with a 3 inch graphic on each cake. Not only where the graphics huge but they were ugly and inaccurate. My guests laugh at the 1st site of these monstrosities. Woah! I changed my review, came couple days ago to place a last minute order. Some twins helped me, they didn't send me away like some other bakeries have when they're about to close. They were very helpful and didn't rush my order even though it was close to closing time. The cakes are great, tried vanilla Napoleon last time, fluffy cake but the chocolate Ganache I got this time was delicious! The chocolate was a lot more moist. read more

Our family started coming to this bakery almost 15+ years ago, when they were just starting out. We loved their vanilla fruit cake back then and still do. They now offer a wide selection of cakes, cookies, pastries, etc. A new favorite cake, that my daughter always wants, is the Chocolate Ganache! It's so beautifully decorated and taste amazing! it is delicious! I had a special order cake made for a birthday party chocolate and bananas cake with choco whip cream frosting! I give it a 10! Every single guest asked for the address of the bakery and they all took a piece of cake home! My only gripe is that for a bakery closes early. When i was going to cerritos school..i always went to the mall to get some deserts. When i found out this place..i thought i had been missing out for so long.
