First time there I had a BAD feeling about her and didn't listen to my gut instinct and made the MISTAKE of going back. I've had 20 dogs my whole life. Several in the last 40 years. For our ShiTzu we asked, at LEAST 4 times to 2 different people, that they NOT cut her bangs since we are letting them grow out. No trimming from her eyes UP. VERY clear, many times, with their confirmation. We were close to her bangs being long enough to put into a ponytail which our dog is totally fine with. Not only did they ultra cut her bangs 1/3 of the way into the BACK of her head, think nerdy buzz cut, they cut most of her top knot so it's super short and barely any pony at all. A red flag was when I was on the phone w/ Hannah, I told her we wanted a fluffy puppy cut, and her response was "What do you mean by a 'puppy cut?'." They said they would keep her fluffy and use no lower than a 4 trimmer, she is at least a 3 in most places, maybe a 2 on her body! When I dropped her off at 11:50a, they said she'd be ready by 2pm. At 2:20 I called to say I was on my way and she said she needed at least another 20 minutes. I said that is fine, just call me when she's done and I'll come in. She never called me but I went in 40 minutes later, only to find they had been done for 30+ minutes. They never said how the appointment went, how my dog did, or if she was ok for the 3 hours she was there. When I mentioned that her bangs were short after my asking they NOT be cut, she replied "I couldn't get it all into a ponytail and it was in her face so I cut it." I said it was a week within being long enough, that I asked at LEAST 4 times that it NOT be cut, she said nothing. As they kept ringing me out I mentioned it again, seeing HOW SHORT her hair is, and she finally said "sorry." So we get to grow it out again, and she's super short all over. And she does NOT look like professional ShiTzu cut. I had heard SUCH good things about this place and I really thought with my asking so many people so many times that it would be close to what we were asking. SO WRONG. I will say that the positives are my dog seems fine, she has no scratches or burns, and she doesn't look HORRID, but she doesn't look good either. Take a look at the other hidden reviews...the most recent ones are not positive.

We tried one other that seemed ok but you know when sometimes something just feels off? So I asked & our vet recommended Silver Maple instead...best thing ever. My first glimpse of how genuinely they care for our dogs was how nicely he goes in (tail is still down but he readily goes in after being greeted like Norm from Cheers). One time he got sick just before our Xmas vacation. He had only been on his meds for 2days before I had to drop him off but they have their system down to a science. It's simple but it's one they are clear on so there are no mistakes. Pam even called me to tell me she found throw up in his crate but wondered if giving him his meds with food would be less caustic & help him feel better...thoughtful & considerate problem solver & diplomatically explained! During that same boarding we were snowed in on the mountains in CO & couldn't get back on time. Not only did Pam accommodate but she also made sure he had enough of his meds. She genuinely loves animals & will go to bat for them. Communication & planning is key. If you'll be traveling over the holidays, book early. Always pack extra food & Rx in case it gets dropped or don't pack enough food. They took a Chewy delivery of food bc I stupidly didn't count out the correct numbers of cans. Cost-wise, we have found it to be very much worthwhile bc we absolutely know he's in good hands. We continued to pay with cash most of the time and tipped accordingly. A Reasonable exchange, right? On September 19, 2024, I picked up our dog and was charged $128.00 for bath and groom. When asked to check the charge, I was informed that there was a $50 charge added to my bill because of a missed appointment. The extra Charge was the "thanks" we received for being loyal, cash-paying, and tipping customers. We had never missed an appointment in over 8 years. Is this any way to treat long-term customers? I could understand if we were repeat offenders, received warnings in the past, or even had difficult dogs. I choose not to do business with any business that is not reasonable and appreciative of my business. Is "Yips and Yaps" grown too big to care? You decide for yourself when it happens to you.
