Someone suggested we try this place, somewhat hidden just off the freeway. We came on empty stomachs and tried a fairly large variety of foods. The wedding soup was one of the best I've had. The kids ordered fettuccine alfredo with chicken and that's when the night got more quiet. They loved the food. We ordered an Italian meatloaf which was something new to us, and something we will be back for. It came with garlic green beans and the best mash potatoes ever. They didn't need gravy or anything added. They were perfect. We also ordered a Sicilian pizza and again we were beyond pleased with the amount of toppings, flavor, and they make their dough from scratch here. They stuff you nonstop with their house garlic bread; I think we all have little tummy aches. Everyone is friendly, they are extremely timely, and never let your drinks go empty. We will definitely be back and tell all our friends. This was an amazing Sunday dinner. read more

My review is about the delivery I ordered today. The online ordering seemed pretty easy. Pick your meal, add to cart. Easy. I ordered Chicken cacciatore and stuffed mushrooms. The order was delivered at the time promised. So far so good. I opened up the bag, and....no utensils. Luckily I had a plastic fork from another delivery. But, i could not eat any of the chicken because I have no knife. Also, my plastic fork wouldn't cut through the mushrooms, so I had to eat them with my fingers. There was no parmesan for the spaghetti. Once again, I luckily had packets from the pizza that was delivered last week. Your primary food is pasta. There should be parmesan included with every delivery. And utensils with every delivery. My chicken is in the fridge until I can buy a plastic knife, or get better delivery from someone else. Or maybe just throw it away. I called to ask them for utensils (i did pay $7 for delivery) but they don't answer their phone. I don't recommend delivery. Or eating pasta with your fingers. read more

I did not have the same experience that the other reviewers had and I am not likely to return. The salad, pasta and garlic bread were average. I could tell from the menu this restaurant might be a typical Americanized pasta and pizza place with an Italian feel but the food would not resemble food from Italy. Similar to Lomeli, Frantalino, Vince's, Olive Garden. Spaghetti Factory, etc. I decided to get the pasta dish they named after the restaurant, Pasta Cannataro's. You can read the description in the photo I attached and that is pretty much what it was, except there was almost no basil in it and I could not detect fresh garlic. The dish had something around the outside for looks but that looked like dried parsley. I found it a little heavy on the olive oil and lacking in garlic and basil flavor. Pasta was cooked perfectly. So that is the food review. The check came and I noticed the pasta dish was priced a dollar higher on the check when compared to the menu. The server left to have that fixed. No big deal. The Chianti I ordered was not very good, so I decided to look up the brand so I can avoid it in the future. The menu said 4.25 but I was charged 7. I was overcharged for the two items I ordered - what are the odds that it was a simple mistake? I decided to sign the check and leave. This is unethical and not just an error at this point. In my business life, if I discovered this mistake, I would have to pull checks as far back as I can and credit people who paid too much. The server is young but a word of advice: take the responsibility to get it fixed without blaming "them" or "Julie" and be more familiar with the menu and the prices so you can glance at every check before you deliver it. After our favorite Italian place in Pomona closed about 20 years ago, we'd been going to a really good one in Lake Forest, but they closed too right around Covid. We've been looking for a new Italian go-to spot ever since, from Cucamonga to San Dimas to Brea, and it's ranged from "meh, it was OK" to "forgettable", to "I wish I could get the memory of that crap out of my head". Then we tried Cannataro's last night. First off, the ambiance is just right - not too hi-toned, but not grungy either. Clean and cozy. The service was polite, attentive, friendly, and pretty prompt, given that they were fairly busy. (When I called earlier, they said they'd been "slow" this month, so I'm guessing they must normally be packed to the rafters) Now for the food. Garlic bread came out and the crust was just right - crispy but not too thick. Just the right amount of garlic, enough that you can truly taste it, but not so much that you're not getting a good night kiss for three weeks. Then came the soups. Wifey had the Minestrone, I had the Wedding Soup. Minestrone was good; wedding soup was best I've had in years. Normal small cup size, but big chunks of chicken and multiple meatballs, not just the one or two you usually get with that size. Flavor was spot on. I cleaned my bowl and wished I had more. Next up was the stuffed mushrooms. Instead of the usual 90% breadcrumbs and 10% floor sweepings or whatever from other places we've tried, these were packed with meat and cheese and flavor. I could come back and make a whole meal from maybe 3 or 4 orders of just these stuffed mushrooms For entrees, I had the veal Marsala with mushroom ravioli. Wifey had Manicotti Florentine (? the one with spinach and I'm too lazy to click over to the menu to verify) and a side of meatballs. The veal was just right, tender and with a sweet sauce. You could taste the Marsala but it wasn't overpowering. Mushroom quantity was perfect. The weakest part of the meal might have been the mushroom ravioli, a little too creamy inside and couldn't taste the mushroom, but even that was pretty good. Wifey liked her Manicotti, only caveat was a little too al dente for her taste, but that's the way true Italian pasta is, so she's used to it. Overall she really liked it. The meatballs were excellent as well. Very meaty and seasoned properly. The red sauce was also top notch. Finished it up with the butter cake a la mode. We destroyed it in about a minute, it was that good. Then came the bill. All this for under $70. I had to check it twice. No, they didn't forget anything. Needless to say, despite the 25 minute drive we'll be back often. Cannataro's you aced all aspects of being a great Italian restaurant. We finally have a go-to Italian place again after all these years of searching. read more

The service is beyond stellar. I went in last night and lucked out by getting seated in Lucie's section. She was so sweet in greeting me and immediately prioritized our party. She was attentive, thoroughly answering any questions we had regarding the food and specials. Lucie recommended the bruschetta as an appetizer and she was spot on- it was refreshing and delicious. She consistently checked in on our group and the others in her section. The mains were amazing and delicious- even though our group ordered a variety of food everything was delicious. We ended the night with the butter cake which was fantastic. Unlike other restaurants we were not rushed or pressured- Lucie made the dine in experience delightful from start to finish. Solid 4 1/2 stars. I needed to feed a group of 10 for lunch to go and ended up speaking to the owner Julie. Normally catered orders need to be placed at a minimum of 48 hours in advance but I was fortunate they accepted it the evening before! In addition, I mentioned Yelp and Julie took care of me on my catered package price. THANK YOU JULIE! I ordered 24 hot wings - 12 BBQ and 12 spicy, a house salad with Italian dressing on the side, garlic bread and a half pan of Meat Lasagna. I requested the pick up for 11:00 am When I arrived the food took about another 15 minutes. All the food was packed in sturdy containers and was a breeze to transport to my clients in Ontario which is about 15 minuets away. The salad was fresh contained olives, cheese and the dressing was put on the side which is a plus (hate soggy salad). Wings were good sized and tasty and the Lasagna was really delish, thick and cheesy! I was concerned about not having enough grub but there were plenty of leftovers! The restaurant is really cozy inside and Yelp is offering a special for 50% off on a $20.00 certificate. SWEET! I'll definitely return here for lunch or dinner and come back for a catered lunch again! read more

We were a party of 11, most of us from out of town. We chose this place because of the reviews from Yelp. We ordered the calamari and garlic bread which were delicious! We then proceeded to order our entrees. Our drinks came without any straws and the iced teas came with no sweeteners. We had to take the sugar caddy from the neighboring table. Our drinks were never refilled. When our food came... the meatballs tasted rubbery like it was reheated while the bolognese tasted bland. The food is amazing. The soup is life changing. The service is okay, as they were very busy the day we went. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The highlight of the show definitely has to go to the Wedding Day soup, move over chicken soup we have a contender for Soup for the Soul!!!! This soup was so heart-warming that it made me feel pure comfort from the first spoon. Every rainy day should be accompanied by this soup, stay in the bed with your fave and enjoy under the covers and be in pure comfort bliss. I have lived down the street from Cannataro's for a really long time and have never tried it until this past Friday. The atmosphere is great, the bread is phenomenal and they had my favorite; Pollo Cacciatore. I am very picky about this specific dish so I will admit I was hesitant to try it, i was blown away by it! We found a Yelp offer ($10 for $20) and decided to give Cannataro's a second try since the business opened years ago. We had the linguine, baked ziti, and pepperoni pizza. The pizza was the better dish of the three. The linguine and baked ziti were average with the ziti being a little dry. In regards to the interior, it is tired and several of the booths have disappeared or partial booths remain. Word of advice, check the "to go" boxes before putting your food inside. The pizza box we were provided was used....it contained oil stains, crumbs, and other funky debris. In regards to the service, our waitress was really good! read more

We have been coming here for months now, we like the food we have almost tried everything. We like the environment, nice spot it can be busy sometimes and depending on you you're server is you can have an ok experience or a great time. We absolutely love Jessica, she was our first server the first two times we came and she was awesome. She helped us out with the menu, gave us some background of the restaurant. She is definitely the best we've had while coming here, 5 stars to her service and her great cheerful attitude. First time here on a Sunday early evening and while our experience was not without its flaws, we will absolutely be returning! It was really good! Here's the positives: - I'm all about covid-safety measures, and I was comfortable with what they had going on. Partitions were up between booths (on half of the restaurant), masks were worn by staff and by patrons before being seated, and the contactless menu! - That contactless menu is a great idea. Super easy to use, just point your phone camera at the QR code, and it takes you straight to the full menu. Covid or not, its a cool idea because its less wasteful than paper menus, and plastic menus are generally pretty dirty anyways. - Food was bomb! I got mushroom ravioli which was slightly salty but still really good. Plus the mushroom sauce was overloaded with mushrooms which I liked. My dude got fettucine alfredo which had chicken and brocolli, and he tends to not eat veggies but he actually ate the brocolli in it! - That italian wedding soup is one of the best soups I've ever had. Easily the best part of the whole meal. I'm still thinking about it. Damn it was such a good soup. - We had a restaurant.com certificate to redeem and it went smoothly. And just a few hiccups: - Website recommends joining the online waitlist through Yelp, but that wasn't available. So I called and someone answered and placed me on hold but after 10 minutes I hung up. I called right back and someone answered immediately. So...not sure what that 10-minutes hold was about. - Didn't realize you get complimentary garlic bread for the table because ours came out to us mid-way through our entrees. - We ordered a bruschetta appitizer which came with 2 small serving plates...which we didnt use because they were caked with grease like they hadn't been cleaned. A few more things: - They take phone reservations but only for parties of 8 or more. - If your party is less than 8 people you can call 30-40 minutes ahead to find out the current wait time though. - Definitely order the italian wedding soup. I would probably give this restaurant 3.5 stars because our waitress was friendly, attentive and made herself available every step of the way. She was great! I just can't get myself to score it a 4 unfortunately. For starters, we were sat in a booth where there was some kind of construction or loud banging on the other side that seemed to be coming from the kitchen. If there's something going on perhaps not sitting guests there would have been best (especially since, when we got there it wasn't packed). The food overall was ok. Their garlic bread was tasty, but we had already ordered the cheesy garlic bread (before the regular garlic bread was brought to us) and I was underwhelmed. It was the same garlic bread with tasteless mozzarella. Not worth it. My cannellonis - They were good. Not delicious but in all honesty I enjoyed them. My husband's fettuccine alfredo supremo - didn't have much flavor, he wasnt a fan and it had very little chicken. We had to order extra alfredo sauce because it was dry. The pomegranate margarita tasted like fruit punch and tequila. Their tiramisu was tasty - Not too sweet and nice and creamy, that was the highlight of the night as a leftover snack! I can't bring myself to give this place any more than 2 stars. Yes the food was good no complains there but the vibe that I got when I went inside to pick up my order was just very negative. To begin, I wasn't acknowledged at all when I walked in and was constantly kept waiting to be helped because the owner kept being interrupted to help What seemed like regular customers. The lady was not friendly toward me at all but was very friendly to every one else there who she already knew. This place is as good as it gets with their entree dishes and sandwiches. The pizza is okay to me. I really like their chicken Marsala with angel hair pasta. The carbonara sandwich is really tasty. After going to Italy twice, we've found that Cannataros is spot on with authenticity. My favorite entrée is the lasagna with their fresh starter salad. The jalapeño & artichoke dip is perfect if you don't mind a little spice. I've also enjoyed the Mahi Mahi with lobster ravioli, which has a great sauce. It's a local favorite so go early if you can. I always have a glass of wine as their selection is also superb. Next review will have a dessert mentioned, but after going once or twice a month for roughly 5 years I could never seem to save room for it because the food is too darn good. Enjoy. read more

First time we went it was a weekend and the food, and fresh garlic bread was delicious, we couldn't wait to go back! 2 weeks later we went back and it was like eating in a completely different restaurant, garlic bread wasn't the same, dressing didn't taste the same and the food seemed a bit salty. I think it might be hit or miss. The place was crowded both time with a waitlist, which seems to show that most people really like it. We will try again.
