We ended up being wooed by all of the baked goods in the case and left with a couple bags of treasures - an M&M cookie, a maple bar, a buttermilk bar, a date bearclaw, and an almond bearclaw. We felt that everything was reminiscent of the quality of baked goods that you can get at the grocery store. In particular, we were disappointed (as other reviewers have said) that the almond bearclaw was basically hollow and was bland. Bad vibes. This business is so disorganized that it's a set up for the cashier to be crabby. Put up some ropes so people get into a line. When there are a 100 choices, it's probably going to take people awhile to decide. It's the nature of the business, yet crabby cashier doesn't seem to be able to handle it. Ordered a fancy decaf latte. Crabby cashier wrote everything on the cup but decaf. When questioned later, she said she told barista verbally about the decaf so she was sure she must have made it that way. Want to take a bet on that? I threw away the expensive coffee and won't be back. If a business can't handle tourists then don't be in business in a tourist town. Shame on the owner. Without tourists she wouldn't have a business. Be a little grateful, run your business properly so you don't stress out your employees and customers and take a little pride in your place. Nasty signs ('don't wait inside') don't help. Examples of friendlier signs: 'If it's crowded inside, please wait outside' or 'We'd really appreciate if you could wait outside'. The sign they'd love to put up is 'We HATE Tourists'. That should actually be the name of the place. read more

Walking through Cannon Beach today, we came upon this bakery where the menu is posted at the entrance/exit to the store. As there was a line, we stood at the front looking at the menu to see what we wanted to order. We were there for five seconds as someone behind the counter rudely shouted "please don't block the exit"! There was no other way of seeing the menu and there was no one exiting either. Headed out of town and figured we'd stop here for some pastries as a quick breakfast. The pasty case is stocked full of goodies that all looked delicious so it was hard to pick, but ultimately went with a marionberry danish and almond croissant. Both, were unfortunately disappointing. The young woman behind the cash register could not be bothered to smile or greet me which, on its own, would not have bothered me. But then, she didn't seem inclined to move over to the case where you order and stood grumpily behind the cashier register. When I ordered, she remained behind the register and simply said "I can't hear you" in lieu of moving over to the case. So I went to her and then we both proceeded back to the case where I ordered several items. We get back to the register and I did not see if she got one of the items so I cheerfully asked if she got it. In response, she condescendingly said "yeah. It's in the bag." I paid for the items and thanked the young woman and got no reply back. It's unfortunate because I probably won't return to this bakery solely because of their service. We were so excited to get the Marion berry pie that everyone had been talking about. This place, from the start the customer service was horrible. Being from a previous customer service job, we all have our days but it still was a bad experience. Sadly, the pie did not make up for it. My aunt frequents this bakery when she's in town & made this our first stop before walking Main Street in Cannon Beach. It's toward the far end of the street. It is small but the space is used well. The smells are heavenly. It was busy around noon on a Saturday but well worth the wait. So many options but I chose the Marionberry crumble & I didn't go wrong. The service people behind the counters were quick & efficient once you told them what you wanted. Pricing was not too high (which again was unexpected since it's Cannon Beach). The only bakery in Cannon beach that opens before 8am! They open at 7am. Check store hours as they are closed one day during the weekday. Great cinnamon rolls that keep for a of couple days that can be heated up in the microwave. Donuts and all other pastries are yummy! Also they carry oat milk for your coffee. I ate here a couple weekends ago with my fiancee. (We were down celebrating our 4 year dating anniversary) I ordered a delicious cinnamon roll and my girl ordered a cheese and ham filled croissant. She took it personal and did not give any other options, except to try Safeway and again she repeated that this order was too late. (wedding is 3 weeks away.) I mentioned that her website does states 2 weeks for specialty cakes and she hung up on me. I have never been hung up on a business. Stopped by for a treat before walking the beach. Walked inside and saw the most enormous pastries ever. Danishes, fritters, Bismarck's, almond bear claws, turnovers, cookies...and it's all massive. I couldn't finish a whole turnover, so I split one with my hubby. It's was sugary and full of marzipan. Pretty yummy! The hubby was more ambitious so he also ordered a marionberry turnover. I had a bite of it as well and it was good. They didn't skimp on the berries, that's for sure. It's not exactly the best bakery in the world, but it'll do! This place is AMAZING! A local favorite. The sandwiches are to die for. The bread these use is made there and the meat comes from a little farm down the way. The pastries are SOOOOOOO GOOD! Real Danish pastries with superb customer service. Gretchen was a doll and really made our first time experience very fun and enjoyable.
