Had an appointment to have my 17 year old cat put to sleep @ 4:30pm on 11/18 Unfortunately my cat passed at home at 3:00 am, the morning of the appointment. Been taking my fur babies here for their check ups and emergencies. The vet's/staff are very friendly here and knowledgeable for your pet's diagnosis. We've went to other pet clinics and they would misdiagnose the issue to my fur babies before and Canoga park veterinary clinic often fixes the issue. Our family has been loyal clients of Canoga Park Vet Center for over 20 years. The original receptionist, manager, and veterinary staff were always accommodating, kind, and truly made this place feel like a trusted home for our pets' care. Unfortunately, the recent changes in staff, particularly the new receptionist, have completely tarnished the experience. As many other reviews have mentioned, the new receptionist is unprofessional, insensitive, and unaccommodating. Her attitude creates a stressful and unwelcoming environment, which is the last thing any pet owner wants to deal with when seeking care for their animals. It's very unfortunate because the doctor here is EXCELLENT, but dealing with the front desk staff has become so negative that we're now with a new vet center. It's heartbreaking to leave after so many years, but customer service matters.... especially in a setting where compassion and care should come first. read more

I like the Dr but the staff here actually sucks. Each person will tell you a different thing causing you to wast your time and they can't even apologize. Moreover, they say they open at 8:30 but they open whenever the staff feels like getting there, Dr comes in later. Very negative energy for my cat to be around. The staff is rude and uncaring. I was told they open at 8:30 on a Saturday and the one staff member that opens showed up at 9:05, looking like he rolled out of bed. No apology. Just attitude. Telling me that I needed to come back for vaccination only when the Dr. was there, even though in a previous appointment I was told it was first come, first serve on the weekends and that they opened at 8:30. We have been bringing our dogs to this clinic for the past 11 years. The doctor is kind patient and considerate. Unfortunately, we never see him anymore. I want to thank him for the years of great service. When we had to put our dog down 8 years ago, he and his staff were so compassionate and kind. The original receptionist is wonderful too, but Unfortunately, there's a new receptionist and staff in the back also. They're indifferent and snotty. I think the new receptionist is the daughter of the doctor. She has that air of unearned entitlement. When I asked her to tell the Dr that we're we're going to look for another clinic, her reply was, "that's fine." I don't think she has earned the right to make such a statement . They don't understand Customer Service and they don't care. Too bad a customer with 3 dogs who's been with this clinic for so long is leaving because of someone who wasn't around when the doctor was making the clinic great. The person I spoke to would not just reschedule the appointment, she was rude and hung up on me when I inquired about who the vet was and why I could not reschedule??? Unsanitary conditions and expensive! I paid $800 to spay my 5-month-old Maltese puppy! Since she was my first pup, I didn't know about the price range which could vary, but $800 is DEFINITELY on the high/ridiculous end. In later years, I came back to Canoga Park Vet to get my pup some antibiotics for an ear infection. When the vet came in to examine and treat her, he did NOT wear gloves, a mask, or a robe to clean my pup's infected ears. I don't know if he washed his hands before, but to touch crusty, pus-filled ears with bare hands is just beyond me. The staff also do not clean the table before and after each patient!! I know this because there were still TONS of random fur and foreign liquids on the exam table!! Gross! read more

Dr Shazad is the best Dr I ever had for my Pomeranian. He is very kind, patient, and knowledgeable. Unlike other places I saw before it is not all about money at dr Shazad's office. He didn't charge me for two follow up visits even though he did ear cleaning and put medications. He really cares . My dog is not easy to handle so I really appreciate dr Shazad and his assistant. He was hugging my dog the whole time which helped us a lot when dr was examining my dog's ear. I will not go any where but this place. read more

Awful unpleasant and unprofessional staff! Gabby works as the manager of the clinic and she is really mean and unpleasant. I took my injured dog to the clinic, was told to wait to be seen, waited for two and half hours, but Gabby did not let the vet check my poor dog even though they were done with the other patients. She did not even bother letting me know about her intention, making me wait hours until I asked her when The vet could see my dog. She is really mean and is allowed to run the place. There are other doctors working there randomly and you never know which vet would be there And whether they are vetenerians or just a technician. Prior to my recent visit, Dr. Shabaz could not treat my poor kitten and kept giving him ineffective antibiotics three times. My poor 9 week old kitten was already so weak and sick, and the wrong antibiotics made him sicker. Avoid this place and find a better vet with nicer staff. read more

After repeating myself three times about the testing I was needing for my cat, she giggled into the phone and said OK so you're calling to make an appointment? I said I am calling to ask pricing. Again she said oh OK, so are you calling about one ear being checked or two ears? This vet service is affordable and prompt so long as you have an appointment. They have their routine vaccines set for Saturdays and if you get there 15 minutes before they open, you will be almost first in line and you don't need to wait for your pet's vaccine. read more

My normal vet closed for two weeks due to the pandemic, so I needed to find a place to give my cat fluid treatment. The first time I visited this office, my cat was too aggressive for them, so I had to come the next day, and they had asked me to go to the back with my cat to help calm him down. The receptionist/vet tech administered the fluids, but she was scared of my cat (he was growling, but that was all) so she pricked him with a needle and jumped back. The needle poked through his skin and she said it was pooling so she "fixed it." I was in and out of the office in 5 minutes, which isn't normal honestly. When I get back home my family and I realize that my cat had been bleeding. A lot. That is the reason this review is immediately 1 star. Aside from my poor cat, the receptionist/vet tech was not that nice. I didn't care at first, and I genuinely wouldn't have cared at all if my cat had received his treatment properly. I'm also unsure about how sanitary everything is, but I have no proof of that, just an inference from what I experienced at this clinic compared to my usual clinic. read more

I discovered this vet when I realized that my lab puppy had somehow gotten a fishhook stuck in his nose. I called my original vet who was booked up and had to call around to find a vet who would see my dog. Some people automatically referred me to an emergency hospital. It would've been VERY expensive. I finally got in touch with Canoga Park Veterinary Clinic. They had one opening left and quoted me a very reasonable price. They took care of my dog and he healed up very nicely! After feeling like I got a little ripped off from the vet near my home, I did some research and found Dr. Shazad! I've been coming here for at least 4-5 years now for my two boxer dogs .... the boy dog is Ouzo and he is very handsome and the girl dog is Nala and she is very sexy. It takes me about 15 minutes to get here from my home but well worth it. The staff is excellent! The doctor is knowledgeable! The prices are really really fair...the best part is that everyone here is HONEST!!! Last week I noticed a really ugly red thing that looked like a ringworm to me... I took him in to see the vet. The vet assumed it was a tumor (looked like one and Ouzo already had a tumor in the past) but provided me with a special skin spray to apply for a week 4-5 times a week. I applied the spray and came today for my follow up. The best part is that when I tried to pay I was told there was no charge! I think I did not get charged because the vet literally saw my dog for no more than 2-3 minutes.... so nice and easy...i was told to spray the area for a few more days and keep an eye on the area. Vet definitely knows my dogs and is a rock star! Props to him and the awesome staff!!! read more

Their professionalism, knowledge, compassion, love and care for my dogs and now cats have always been impeccable! They always take the time to fully explain what ever issue is going on and give honest information regarding treatment plans and options. Their prices are fair and competitive, but honestly, I wouldn't go anywhere else even if it was double the cost. He misdiagnosed my dog on 3 separate occasions, each time prescribing medications and procedures that I later found out my dog didn't need and actually made him worse: Unfortunately I found out too late, and my otherwise, healthy 6yr old maltese died. I was 8 months pregnant at the time and my husband had just lost his job because of the pandemic. We barely had enough for ourselves and yet I paid this man's overcharged rates just to lose my dog in the end. And what is worse is not once did he even care enough to call to offer his sympathy. Instead I get a letter saying that i shouldn't expect to get any money back because i signed a waiver! Absolutely horrifying! read more

I really appreciated Dr Shahzad's phone call to discuss my cats' exams, his findings, and his recommendations. At every visit, he recommends less as opposed to more and explains his reasoning. Good luck getting any medical records faxed. My wife and I moved and had to get records faxed so that we can get all set up with the new vet. We called the day before about it and spoke to someone in the office who said they'd take care of it for us. We waited overnight and no fax ever came. We called again at open in the AM and they said they sent it, but again it never came. Our fax was working because we used it earlier to send documents to a customer. Called again a few hours later and there was no answer. Called again 20 minutes later and the person said they would get to it later and that there were seven other people that needed records ahead of me. Like bro, how hard is it to run ten pages through the fax machine? Why you gotta lie to us the day before and give us the run around? Our cat has a specific medicated diet and bowel disorder that the new vet isn't going to have any information for. It's hard enough to schedule appointments with COVID. read more

So, last year, I embarked on the journey of puppy ownership for the first time in quite a while. I purchased an adorable Corgi of the Pembroke variety and set out to find a suitable vet to look him over, and give him shots. Yelp led me to Dr. Shahzad's office, and I found it to be a great, down-to-earth place to get most of my pet's basic care needs looked after. They do the job, and they do it well, with no frills. This is a very no-muss, no-fuss vet's office. They treat their patients and their patients' parents kindly, and don't recommend anything unnecessary, which my wallet appreciated. In the West Valley we are surrounded by lots of fancy animal hospitals that provide a lot of advanced medicine for pets, but really - when it comes to basic preventive care and the usual puppy routine and yearly vaccines, you don't need all of that. You just need a good doctor. In my opinion, a lot of vets are moving towards being much like Jiffylube - they get you in and kick the tires a little bit, and then recommend a laundry list of things your pet really doesn't need. My PWC was recently neutered there. I started calling around to price out neutering and everyone local wanted between $500-$600. To throw some perspective on that price - it costs less to do the same procedure on a horse. At home. So, for a procedure as minor as a neuter, I feel this price is absolutely outlandish. Dr. Shahzad did it for less than half that, and the job was done well. My dog recovered quickly without incident. All in all, I will continue to take my pets to Dr. Shahzad. The office is consistently clean and well kept, and the staff are professional and kind. read more
