Came here for brunch after being in town for a concert. It was busy, but not unmanagable. Plenty of staff. It took 55 minutes to get our food. We were eating at the bar, so employees back and forth in front of us. No one ever acknowledge that we still didn't have food, and no one ever apologized for the wait. I can only assume it's the norm. My coffee cup was empty, and not a soul ever offered to refill. Finally flagged down our waitress, she gave me the dregs of the pot and said they'd need to brew more. Eventually flagged down some other guy who brought back the new pot that was already mostly gone and gave me the dregs of that pot. I ordered the corned beef hash and paid way too much for a 3" round flat serving of hash and two eggs. Just a ridiculous experience. read more

Our waiter was super friendly, made sure to bring all amenities without having to ask- very considerate! The the food didn't take too long to come to our table after ordering! There was a bit of a rush around 10-11am on a Saturday, but we didn't have to wait more than 10 minutes (no call in or website reservations are available), you just have to be open to any open spots in the restaurant. Came here for brunch with my friends on a Sunday around 1pm. We were seated right away. Nice atmosphere and good service. Amalia was our server and she did a great job serving us. The menu was overwhelming but I ordered the hasher with over easy eggs and those were delish! Also ordered some pancakes and waffles - everything was pretty good. They were out of a few ingredients that limited our pancake choices, but there were other delish options. Disappointed with this restaurant, compared with their Bloomingdale location. Upon entry we were net by a hostess with zero enthusiasm and a ring through her nose that would have better fit a bull in a pasture. A bull might have been more personable. Staff here is disorganized, and poor at the very basics (utensil and napkins, drink refills, any hint of friendliness and customer service.) Music being played was a horrible cacophony of crappy, bad bohemian junk. Food was all lukewarm at best. Didn't get drinks refilled until 5 minutes after we finished the meal, and handed to us in "to-go" cups, ie, "don't let the door hit you in the butt on the way out." In comparison, the Bloomingdale location is bright, friendly, well-run, and pleasant. read more

Server was efficient in checking on me and all her tables. 10/10 service This was my first solo date before I can admit and it was perfect, tv's, picture frames on the wall and when i went to the bathroom I saw the outside sitting area and it was nice , lights/decorations and things and water nice view. Canopy Road is a great breakfast/ brunch place with awesome unique dishes and a large menu to satisfy any hunger level. The staff are great, and the place is designed so neat. There's an outdoor eating area on the back side that sits closer to Causeway blvd. Specialty waffles, pancakes, French toast smells fill the air and they also have healthy/ high choices like omelettes and avocado toast. We drove from St. Petersburg to do some shopping in Tampa & decided to try this place after recently seeing an Instagram ad. The food was entirely mediocre & cold with an unappealing presentation. The only thing that seemed fresh was the pancake that wasn't even cooked in the middle & my husband said the bacon tasted like it was cooked yesterday & reheated. If you like fresh, tasty food, avoid this place. Dark decor for a breakfast/lunch spot, too. I've been to Canopy Road Cafe 4 or 5 times. I'm shocked that I haven't written a review yet! I am a slacker. Anyways, my husband & I have always enjoyed everything we've ordered here. It's one of my fave brunch spots. My husband loves their different pancake varieties. I love their selection of Bennys. They also have different specials each month. Their coffee is soooo delicious! I even brought a bag of ground coffee home with me last time I was there. We usually bring our out of town visitors here, and they've always enjoyed their food. Nice breakfast spot with a very busy menu. I visited on a Saturday morning and there was a 20 minute wait for a table. Since I was waiting for a friend to arrive that was okay. There were chairs and benches out front to relax. Nice touch. Once we were seated, the waitress came over promptly to take our orders. Our food came out pretty quickly but mine was not to my specs so I sent it back. This time it took so.long to come back that my friend was finished with her meal by the time mine came back. We ordered the crunchy French toast and a skillet. I have more of a sweet tooth and the French toast just exceeded my expectations. They were the perfect amount of crunch and all the flavors just made me smile. The skillet was equally as amazing, I don't remember which one exactly we got. We decided to try a different breakfast spot while in Brandon for an appointment. We googled breakfast places and CanopyRoad Cafe was close so we decided to have breakfast there. It had a cute ambiance and vibe to it. Our service was great. I ordered a coffee and it was pretty good since I'm a big coffee snob. My boyfriend ordered the surfer girl and he really liked it. I had the French toast and a side of loaded grits. The presentation was great. The food was great. They definitely had a good portion size. I ended up taking my grits home because I was so stuffed. The loaded grits were amazing. They had chopped bacon, cheese and chives. I have never had chives in my grits. It was new for me, but it wasn't a bad new. I had pretty high hopes for this place because the wait was about 30 min, but after seeing the food options, there only seemed to be a few things that felt really unique, or at least not so ordinary(like what you'd find at a mom-n-pop place. The potatoes came out lukewarm, but the server was very sporadic with her service that I didn't feel like asking for a new side, I felt like it'd take too long to get the new side My reason for 4 stars and not 5 was the service(seems like this is always the case for me not giving 5 star): The server took way too long between coming by and my coffee was empty twice, both times the server never asked if I wanted a refill, but rather just walked on. If a server says "How is everything?" it shouldn't be my job to request a coffee refill, the server should see my empty cup and ask if I'd like more The food was decent(aside from the potatoes being meh), but it wasn't enough for us to really want to come back. read more

This is 4.5 stars in my book. When I was first here for the next door restaurant and notice them. That time they still working on the building interior. Now seeing them doing well, it is encouraging business in Brandon. There will be wait if you are not there early. I was there on Sunday ahead the church crowd. There is already 20 minutes wait. We take the breakfast bar without wait. We have the Dakota - it is flat iron steak with bread, toast and a side. I got the grit. The steak is delicious with the right seasoning. Steak was cook well and compliment to the chef skill. We also got the churro waffle. This dish come with 4 quarter pieces waffle with whip cream and caramel syrup. The waffle is crispy. A bit oily but is tasty. Very unique dish. I saw many dish fly out the serving window. The quantity of the food and presentation of the food was really nice. Service is attentive. When anyone asks for a breakfast recommendation (via my Instagram- TampaFoodMom) I ALWAYS suggest Canopy Road! Why? First of all I've eaten here several times with visiting family, visiting friends and breakfast dates with hubby and it's always consistently delicious. Secondly, I'm not an egg eater (unless it's quiche but that's another conversation!) and trust me it's hard to find a breakfast spot that has a decent variety of non egg breakfasts and Canopy Road does! Don't get me wrong- they have a huge selection great egg choices but an equally amazing array of unique pancakes, waffle and French toast menu items! Plus their hash browns also kick butt! Today for Sunday Funday breakfast with hubby, I had the Turtle Cheesecake Pancake + ala carte sides of hash browns and pecan wood smoked bacon. Hubby had the Canopy Road Special- 2 sunny side up eggs, 2 slices of rye toast, 2 pecan wood smoked bacon slices and hash browns. And it was nicely priced! French toast - light, fluffy and tasty Sweet potato pancakes - an interesting take on pancakes. Absolutely delicious; savory and very sweet. Home fries - did not disappoint. I love my home fries on the firmer side. They were perfection. Fried green tomatoes - let me tell you, I regressed to sitting in my grandmother's kitchen. Full of flavor and the aioli sauce gave it a nice spice. What topped the experience was the service. We had several inquiries about ingredients. Our host was super patient and understanding. This restaurant is open for breakfast/brunch/lunch. It is located on Causeway Blvd right off of Falkenberg Rd. We actually drove right past it the first time and had to turn around. It's easy to miss. It's definitely worth turning around if you miss it. The front of the restaurant actually faces the parking lot and not the street. The back of the restaurant faces Causeway Blvd. It is actually right next to the entrance for The Crossing Church. It is located in a new strip mall. When we walked in it was quiet and we were seated right away. Our server came right over and offered beverages. I needed a few minutes to look over this extensive menu. There were so many choices I couldn't decide between breakfast or lunch. I decided to go with a "Morning Monte Cristo". It was grilled ham & Swiss layered on two pieces of French toast. Served with blueberry compote on the side. (I ordered mine minus the cheese.) This dish was delicious and I've never had anything like it before. I would definitely order it again! The restaurant was clean and had a cool modern look. The parking lot is huge and there will be no problem finding a spot here. I'm totally jumping on the 5 star bandwagon. According to their website, it's "A Taste of Florida Comfort." I totally agree. It has been a Tallahassee chain for at least a decade. The restaurant was started by a couple of FSU grads. They've branched out to Jacksonville, and now Tampa. I've been waiting for this place to open ever since seeing the coming soon sign after my most recent visit to Kiwami Ramen & Sushi. It's in the same new plaza (The Village at Causeway). The back of the building faces Causeway Blvd. There's plenty of parking. The location is perfect since it happens to be near one of the many entrances to the Camden Apartments... which also happens to be the entrance to The Crossing Church. I happened to be off from work yesterday. My plan to come after my mother's medical appointment worked out perfectly. There were a lot of people in the restaurant at around 12:30 pm on a Friday, but we were taken to a nice comfy booth as soon as we walked in. I doubt we will be so lucky on a Sunday considering the location. The service was great from the very beginning. Jordan was our server and he did an awesome job of giving us the background information about the restaurant and their locally (Tallahassee) sourced items. One of them being the Lucky Goat Coffee that they serve daily. We thought it was very good. I did have to ask for regular half & half since they supply those International Delight creamers that I don't care for very much. He brought out the chilled single serving half & half cream almost immediately. I guess I'm not the only one who requests it. I'm happy they have it on hand. Anyway, our fresh cup of coffee never ran dry. It was filled when needed. The same with the water. So, I'm very happy that I read the reviews before coming. It seemed that everyone was super happy with the Churro Waffle, so that's what I got. I'm happy to report that it was totally the right decision. OMG, it was so good! I think they actually fry the waffle like a churro unless they have some other technique that makes it so crispy on the outside. It was amazing! The cinnamon sugar coating was exactly like a churro but even a bit more caramelized. I loved it! The presentation of it was just as awesome with the drizzled caramel and what I think was vanilla custard. Forget about adding maple syrup to it. It certainly doesn't need it. It's going to be very hard for me to try anything else but that on my next visit, but I will because I saw some other items that look just as delicious. My mother had the traditional Challah French Toast (plain because she's a purist). She loved it. The half portion was plenty (2 slices cut in half) and she ate just about all of it. I couldn't believe it. She's 91 years old and doesn't have a desire to eat much anymore. Well, she even had a large piece of my churro waffle (and loved it). I'm changing her purist ways because she wants to get the waffles next time. Please also note that you can request a different type of bread for your French Toast, if desired. We will be back for more. I saw things pass by me to other tables that looked so good. Their specialty is breakfast but I saw some really juicy hamburgers being served as well. The menu has a large variety of different items including salads, sandwiches, and wraps. The prices are very reasonable. It was $8 for the specialty waffle. A side of breakfast meat is about $3.50, but the waffles were more than enough. I'm looking forward to trying their Sweet Potato Pancakes and the Skeeter Skillet. read more

I got a little behind & am just now leaving my review. I stopped in last Saturday & had the Back Porch Burger..it is a must try. It has pimento cheese & a fried green tomato yummm.
