Restaurants have opened up since the pandemic and I have been hesitant to go! Cantina has safety down packed! The menu is on a QR code and every staff member wears a mask and gloves. My nearby Hilton hotel recommended this place to address my mrxucsn good craving. From the time I was warmly welcomed to being aware of the genetic happy hour this place is fantastic. At the servers recommendation I ordered the nifhkry special consisting of prawns over a bed of rice. The food was equally fantastic. Prices are not cheap but reasonable for the quality level. Ate there this weekend for the first time. The atmosphere was nice. Like others have said this is not a traditional Tex-Mex restaurant which is fine. The menu was unusual and I liked that. The plates that came out were very nicely presented and were impressive. Those were the good points. The negative things were the prices were really high for the portions you got. My wife got the Barbacoa tacos which she did not eat. To use her words they tasted like "wet dog". So, I bravely tasted them and they did have bad flavor. I had the steak that was only about 2 inches wide and about 4 inches long. They steak was OK, but very very small. I guess they are trying to be a high-end Mexican restaurant. Thus they will have some unusual items..........some you will like and some you won't. However, given my wife's food was bad and mine was just OK and given the prices for the amount of food served I won't be going back. read more

I've been coming here for years and have always been very happy. Tonight a large party was here and was slowing down the rest of service. The GM was on top of it from the beginning. Made sure we knew what was happening and made sure we had everything we needed along the way. The food as per usual was fantastic. I can't believe that someone said this was the best Mexican restaurant in Dallas....I guess I need to get to writing more reviews!! I'm stretching it by giving it a 3 because I really don't want to, but the food wasn't that bad...if the service was better, I could give it 4 stars. Driving by to find something good to eat (my husband and I), saw it tucked away and thought we'd stop in. The greeting, from who I think was the manager, was warm and pleasant. He made me super excited about the service I was about to receive. Boy were we sadly disappointed. I have to be honest. After he greeted us so beautifully, I expected someone to come over and tell me about the great things they have to offer, go over the menu, and just blow us away. It was truly the opposite. Someone came right away with chips and salsa, and no one came to take drink orders or continue that warm welcome for at least 5 to 7 minutes. Waaaaay too long. Finally, drink order taken. Then it was about 10 to 12 minutes before they came back. Waaaaay too long. It was so long that I seriously considered going to the manager and asking for the bill on the drinks so we can pay and leave to eat elsewhere. I mean seriously, there were only a handful of people there and I just couldn't believe that it was taking sooooo long. So, finally he comes to take the order. The food came out quick, but I was out of lemonade for about 3 minutes before it was refilled. I was just really disappointed. Service: 1.5 stars The Botanas Platter as an appetizer was very good. The shrimp skewer was delish! 4 stars I had the Cilantro Chicken Salad (I love fresh Cilantro - it just really makes me smile!): 3 stars. It was good. It needed a little punch, so I added some of the salsa in it myself and that helped it a lot. My husband had Chicken Enchiladas covered with a tomatillo sauce and crumbled cheese on top: 2 stars. Literally been coming here for 20 years, been my favorite mexican restaurant for nearly all my adult life mainly because of the chips and salsa but I'm done with this place! Way OVERPRICED food, less than average quality, and you wonder why this place is always completely empty when all the competing restaurants are packed . Few suggestions, Stop trying to be a fancy you need more than high prices to justify that, increase the portion size, you charge $16 for a fatty piece of chicken you can afford to give more than two spoons of rice and last but not least improve the quality of food. Great food, but awful server. I'm very disappointed. Our server jose did not attend to us, I'm guessing he was not having a good day or he did not want to serve us. I had to ask the bus boy for drink refills and the restroom had an horrible smell. I ordered a torta with carnitas and it was servered on ciabatta bread which a torta is supposed to be served on pan bolillo. Not once did jose ask us if we needed anything. I can get better food for half the price at almost any other family owned 'Tex-Mex' in the area. For me, not worth the extra dollars... With that being said, the service is great. If you're looking for great service, and typical 'Tex-Mex' style food, you really can't go wrong. They bring chips out and two different salsa, one hot, one cold. The drinks are strong, and it's a nicer ambience than your mom & pop stops. Overall, the price of the food is what kills it for me. Three stars. read more

Generally, I'm a fan of Cantina Laredo, but this location just doesn't do it for me. A group of us went on a Sunday afternoon and the place was nearly empty. We were seated and brought beverages quickly while we looked over the menu. We were given two types of salsa - one served warm, one served cold. Both seemed a little diluted (too much water, perhaps?), and neither were spicy. They were alright overall, but its not the best I've had as of late. They had a combination of a brunch & lunch menu for that day, so it was difficult to decide which meal sounded best. I'm a sucker for brunch, but eggs weren't going to do it that afternoon. Too bad though, because complimentary adult beverages come with the brunch selection! I ordered the Shrimp Flautas which came with rice, sauteed veggies, and a light green creamy sauce for dipping. The flautas were a bit greasy for my liking, but they were stuffed full of shrimp. If they had been a little less fried and/or soaked in oil, I'd have enjoyed them more. The green sauce was a nice compliment to the dish, though and the veggies were prepared well. Not a bad entree, though not my favorite. Most of the staff was friendly and chatty with our table, but our waiter seemed to be uninterested. Our drinks ran dry frequently, though the manager always sent another server to fill them if he noticed before our waiter. Instead of asking us how we would like the bill handled, our waiter charged everything together. Not a big deal, really, so I grabbed out my pen & began dividing everything up. Being very observant, the manager noticed immediately and promptly had our tickets split. As I was getting ready to pay for mine, I found that I was charged for the dinner portion of my meal. This perplexed me mainly because we were given a brunch/ lunch menu, and it was only 1 in the afternoon. When I brought it to the waiter's attention, he apologized and said that I was given the dinner version of the dish. That explains why I had 3 flautas on my plate, one of which went to waste because there was no way I could finish it off. He ended up changing the ticket for me, but I wasn't impressed with his attitude regarding the ordeal. If it is lunch time and I'm ordering off a lunch menu, give me lunch. Don't give me dinner & charge me for it in the hopes I don't notice. Again, it was fixed so *end rant* Overall, the staff made us feel welcome and catered to us without hesitation. I like the central location of this restaurant and it is always clean. Still, for my money, I feel there are better locations and better chains to satisfy my mexican food cravings. To preface, I'm not a huge Mexican, TexMex, or Mexican-fusion fan. My first impressions of the place was that it was rather fancy; clean and well laid out. Our server was pleasant, but he came off like he really had to 'push' certain items. My second impression upon looking at the menu was that it was really pricey for a 'Mexican' restaurant. Most items seems a bit dressed up from the normal fare, but not that much. You struggled to find an entree for under $12, and they don't offer a lunch menu. As I said above, I'm not huge on this family of dishes, but I was there with coworkers and they picked the place we ate. The two flavors of salsa offered with the tortilla chips were good, and I ordered the fish-of-the-day, which was salmon grilled with spices, a zucchini mix, and a rice blend. The salmon came topped with a green, tangy sauce (tomatillo, I think) that went exceedingly well with the fish. I ordered the flan to finish, and it was really good. Final impression was that it was still a bit expensive, and I would probably not offer it up as a place to go, but I would happily go again if someone else initiated it. read more

I went as a guest of a hosting company so i cant really give my opinion on pricing. I will say that the service was GREAT!! Our appetizers came out fast and tasted pretty good. I had a perfect patron margarita and it was yummy. The reason it not a 4 star is because i have an issue with "gourmet" Mexican places. To me the best spots are the little whole in the wall, like your eating at someones home type places. My food was OK just wasn't anything special. The parking is alittle weird, so just skip the front and drive around back. I may give this spot another try if coworkers want to do happy hour, or maybe the Brunch..i have heard good things! read more

We sat at the bar and got horrible service from the female bartender. The food was just ok, but the margaritas were awful, we switched to beers. We have just brought in all our friends from out of state to our 'go to' Cantina Laredo Addison. Thought you should know everytime our out of state friends come to visit (as they did this week) first thing they want to do is go to Cantina Laredo Addison. They love it as much as we do... and we go several times a week! The food, staff, and ambiance is always excellent. Rambo as General Manager is always so on top of everything (the kids meeting him for the first time tonight kept giving him hugs and saying they had such a lovely time) and Alejandra the server was totally on point with service. My mom, sister, and I came into this Cantina because the one we usually go to got destroyed by the tornado! Anyway, we walked in at about 5 o'clock and than ordered and spent about 45 minutes waiting for our food. I was not impressed and very angry and very hungry!! I do not recommend at all. Yeri our waitress was awesome! But this Cantina Laredo's food was horrible! All the food we had was not good. The Carne Asada tacos had hardly any meat in them. The cheese enchiladas were rubbery. One of our biggest issues is ALL drinks were served in small plastic cups. We were told our beer was in 16 oz cups. We looked the numbers on the bottom of the cup up on the Internet. 12 oz. I had to beg for a real glass for my dark beer. This place is too expensive for horrible food and drinks in plastic cups. We will never return and we will tell others. read more

Just moved to Texas and I'm on a quest for great Mexican food. I wasn't expecting it here, but it was close to the hotel so I thought I would give it a try. Hell, an average place in Texas has got to better than an average mexican in Atlanta. Nope. This is the most bland and overpriced food I have had in awhile. Hello flavor....where are you? Sour cream enchilada, nothing, no bite, zest, spice, nothing. I honestly think i prefer a grilled stuffed burrito at Taco Bell. The chile relleno, bland. Cheese had no flavor whatsoever. However, the assembly of the chile relleno was good. Not the mash of cheese, pepper, and breading I am used to. Still, not tasty. The mole enchilada was the highlight. But it wasn't great. I guess I was so underwhelmed by the other items, it seemed impressive at the time. Salsa, boring. Initially I was excited that it wasn't the standard red salsa. Quickly disappointed. I think I am being unfair by giving this place two stars. It honestly deserves one, but I must reserve that for the worst of the worst. $14 for a plate of bland mexican food? We came here for a nice Sunday dinner this past weekend. We brought my girlfriends dog and they had no problem with us sitting on the patio, which earned them some points! That was our high point, everything else was mediocre or below average. We ordered a bottle of Trapiche Old Cask Malbec ($30) (great wine). He brought us two dirty wine glasses and didn't open the bottle for us? Interesting to say the least because TABC would not have been happy with customers opening their own bottle. Queso was average, service was poor. Food was forgettable. My highlight was the dog friendly patio and the bottle of wine. Got into town late, it was Catina Laredo or Chillis! I'm glad I chose Catina Laredo. They were closing in 24 minutes and didn't hesitate to seat me. I ordered a house margarita on the rocks with salt, 1 chicken, and 1 beef enchilada. Free chips and salsa. The warm red salsa was fantastic and the chips, thin and crisp. Both of the enchiladas could have had more meat but who wouldn't say that. Both were shredded meat and tender with plenty of flavor. The side of black beans were delicious! The chips are light/crisp, the salsa is fresh, and the queso is HOT :) The options for Brunch are great plus the complimentary mimosa or bloody is pretty great! We have loved eating here for years. This time they had a totally new menu. We got chicken enchiladas... The chicken filling had a lot of chicken fat and the tortillas were way too heavy. The plate had only the enchiladas and needed some salad or something with color...also the chips were very oily and not crisp... There are lots of restaurants in Addison to choose from. Burned bread on chicken sandwich - had to remove filling (maybe 3 bites of chicken) and eat with chips.
