I have been a customer of La Hacienda Ranch for over 30 years, eating at the Frisco location before the mall was built and the only thing nearby was a small wooden church across the street. I have loved this restaurant for years, taken family and friends, celebrated anniversaries and birthdays, taken home salsa....etc. We usually order the Sundance Steak, which is no longer on the menu, but we've been eating for 30+ years and is still available on request. It is above the bar, excellent and has stayed that way all these years. We even had the little card for eating there and getting punches toward free food....I think it was money off or a free queso and chips, which is no longer offered. I stopped at the Preston Rd. location this week for lunch and was horribly disappointed. The lunch offerings were small and I ordered the green enchiladas. The menu said chicken, etc. Well, there was very little chicken, no cheese and when you cut into the enchilada, the corn tortilla fell open with nothing to hold it together. I've never had an enchilada with no cheese! I think there were maybe 4 small, flattened pieces of chicken in the entire enchilada. Lots of sauce, raw onions, small amount of tomato, but no chicken or cheese of any substance. It was not terrible, but certainly not the quality of food I have come to expect from La Hacienda Ranch over the years. Additionally, the service was not as expected. The waiter, Hugo, took my order and did not appear again until my meal was over. No checking on me, no asking if I liked it, needed anything, no offer for additional iced tea......I realize I was alone and not drinking alcohol, so no big tip, but to be totally ignored until the time of presenting the bill was also not something I was expecting. It was a little after normal lunch hour, so the place was not busy, so no excuse. This experience has made me question going back....which I never thought I'd do. This has always been one of my go-to, celebration or take new out-of-town people to restaurants for 30+ years. I'm now wondering if La Hacienda Ranch is reducing the quality of it's food for price cutting measures or whether I just hit a bad day. Been to this location a couple of times. Both times I got the fish tacos. First tried them panko crusted, 2nd time blackened. I really liked the blackened seasoning. The staff is very accommodating and friendly. The inside is very rustic, typical of a Texan style restaurant. They have Ample Parking. Our work group (8) went to enjoy a dinner together after a long work day. Loved the laid back atmosphere, just made you feel relaxed and comfortable. Only gave 2 stars because I love their warmed Smokey salsa, fajita steak meat and the sort! Hubby and I have been to this location twice in 2 1/2 weeks and service is zero stars! What a disappointment! Never got refills unless we asked at least twice, if not three times. Never offered fresh or more chips and the salsa. Had to ask for pickled jalapeños several times and food took forever! The restaurant wasn't busy today at 4ppm either. The happy hour not very happy! At least Mariano's (the original restaurant) offers one 1/2 priced margarita all day on Wednesdays. The manager today wanted to tell my husband what any amazing server our waitress was today....we didn't see her or care to hear this. She was grumpy and did bare minimum. Thought the food was totally average and a little pricey for the quality compared to other Mexican restaurants like Muchacho, Las Palmas, Pappasitos, Doce Mesas. While this place is a little pricey, my goodness the food and drinks are amazing!!! The "Mariano" margarita is probably my favorite at any restaurant! Soooo yummy!!! It includes fresh squeezed lime and a 2.5 oz pour of top shelf tequila. I love the hand cut sun-shaped lime they use to garnish, too! Chips and salsa are served promptly upon arrival and the service is very good! We sat once at a table and once at the bar; both times solid. We had the beef fajitas for two and everything was amazing!!! The steak was tender, everything super fresh and tasty. One of my favorite things were the corn tortillas!!! Omgoodness they were AMAZING!!! And they're made in house just like the chips. So good! Two things I didn't love... the table was rather sticky. The tables were cleaned so I'm not sure if it's because they were older or what... I used my linen napkin as a placemat to solve that sticky feeling. I also felt like the chairs were quite shallow. I could not sit back all the way and felt like I was slipping forward. Neither of these things had an impact on the food or service, just things I don't like. It was very dark inside which I don't mind but big shocker to my eyes upon entering and exiting that took time to adjust to. They have a filet and Mariano special that I'll be back to try as well as an apple pie dessert that looks insane!!! The apple pie is supposed to be really good and is half off on Sundays but we didn't have an room left either time to even get to the dessert course... next time!!! 5/5! A must try! read more

I went to this restaurant yesterday for the first time because the ratings were so high; however, we were told we had a 20 to 30 minute wait. After 30 minutes, my date asked how much longer, and they stated they could seat us immediately. It seemed they were they waiting for us to ask for them to seat us again - irritating, but okay. Next we were seated in Toni's section. We got water pretty quickly, but everything after that took time. The later the evening wore on, the more time it took to receive service. Yes, the restaurant was busy when we first arrived, but by the time we left, it wasn't busy at all. The food was on point, but the service was needlessly slow; therefore, I give this restaurant a 3 out of 5. Hopefully, if we ever go back, and we will give them a few months minimum, we hope they will fix the service issues. read more

The food wasn't memorable back then so,I haven't returned until now. I first ate at Mariano's original restaurant on Greenville Ave in Dallas Texas. That was before he invented the frozen margarita. Him and his family have done a great job of maintaining and expanding his operation over the years while maintaining quality This particular place designed to look like a mountain lodge,serves hundreds of diners . Pretty amazing they can sling that much Tex Mex every day Our dinner was excellent and I'd say representative of traditional Tex Mex served ( and craved) in this part of Texas. I ate it and we paid for it because we were hungry but I would never order it again. Ordered the chicken enchilada (2) for around $15-16. Pulled chicken, spicy. Tiktok lied. It was not good, and I sent it back. I opted for the sour cream topping. My friend got the quesadilla. We ended up paying for that. She boxed it up and will give it to her nephews. La Hacienda Ranch restaurant is an absolute GEM! Fun ambiance, great service, amazing drinks, and the food is spectacular. I highly recommend the "Mariano" margarita .. it is pricey (~$20), but is high quality and very strong - there is a limit of 3 per patron (probably for a reason). The cheese torpedoes are pretty unique and delicious. But the main course is Steak Fajitas for two. I don't know what they do to the beef to marinate it and make it so amazingly tender .. by far the best steak fajitas we have ever had. Comes with all of the sides - guacamole, beans, pico, sour cream, salad, etc.. And the salsas a great too - one of them is smoky and is served warm. It can get busy there, so make a reservation. Also looks like a lively scene at the bar area as well, and you can get full menu service at the bar. We went to the Frisco location a few times, and then tried the Dallas location .. pretty much exactly the same and was equally as excellent .. highly recommended! read more

If you love screaming children and dining surrounded by people you'd see in line at the DMV then this is the place to go! The Host/Hostess stand is oblivious. You have to be very assertive to get an acceptable table. The server Zoe was terrific. She really was good energy. We were so deep into misery by the time we encountered Zoe that she couldn't turn it around. When this place opened it was more aspirational. The chips and salsa are still good.
