I was planning on finding some local take-out for the hotel room while finishing some work, but ended up eating in this great find within a local strip mall. I had the Taco Plate (3 Street Taco's) meal which comes with rice and beans as well as very fresh onions, radish, and limes for stuffing. I had one beef, one Chicken, and one Chipotle Chicken. They were each great, the chicken was a bit dry but the chipotle chicken was great. Based on signage I had to try the Flan, and boy I was glad I did. It's enough for 2 or 3 but I killed it, it was that good! The service was great, waitress was kind and helped me make decisions and part of the reason I decided to stay. The owner stopped by to say hi, such a nice gentleman who clearly puts his all into this fine establishment. The Ambiance is very nice, clean and uniquely decorated. Not traditional or trendy like most Mexican restaurants, airy and carries an overall good feeling. They have a very nice full bar yet I was not drinking so enjoyed a traditional Topo Chico Mexican seltzer (I understand it goes great with tequila). Their mural is amazing and unique. We stopped here for lunch after the kid's swim competition in Addison, and wow, what a great find. The area is still up and coming with a ways to go, but this restaurant in a small nondescript strip mall is a winner. Look for the Target on Montfort and the restaurant will be there. The restaurant itself is pretty small and the interior is modest. Aside from a Mexican-themed stage for music, you would never know what kind of food is served. But everything is clean, including the bathroom. I had the taco plate (three to an order) with chicken Tinga, barbacoa, and carne asada. The Tinga is prepared like a stew and it is the best I have ever had. The chicken breast is soft, tender, and very flavorful. It was phenomenal and now I can't get the taste out of my head. The beef tacos were good too, but the Tinga stole the show. The tacos are street taco size with yellow corn tortillas. I loved everything about the plate, which comes with rice and beans, lime, cilantro, and onions. The tacos did not need salsa at all. The wife had the same three taco plate with Tinga, brisket, and barbacoa. I did not order the brisket because I was afraid it would mainly fat but hers were all meat. The flavor on the brisket was spectacular and the meat was tender. She had the flan for dessert and I tried a bite. I usually am not a fan of flan but this one was excellent. Creamy, smooth, and very flavorful. The great thing about this restaurant is that the quality of ingredients is high and the cooking tastes homemade. It does not taste like restaurant food; instead you would think you are eating at a good friend's house where the mom has spent the day preparing food for you. Our server Yesenia was friendly and efficient. We experienced no problems. The food came out quickly and was hot. This place was TO DIE FOR. I almost didn't stop in because there is a lot of construction, but I'm so glad I did because I was pleasantly surprised by this " hole in the wall." Don't let the outside fool you, this place is serving up some of the best food in DFW. I ordered a three taco plate, which came with rice and beans on the side and I was really full. I came here very hungry and thought three tacos would be easy to conquer, but they were so filling! I tried the Asada, barbacoa and Al Pastor in each taco was better than the next. My favorite was the pastor--so flavorful!!! The service was also great here they were a little busy for lunch, but I got my food very quickly and was asked multiple times if I needed a refill or or anything else. One late night, feeling hungry, my partner discovered this hidden gem! On a Saturday night, they had a live band and were open until 2 a.m. We arrived around 11:45 p.m. and found the place lively but not overcrowded, allowing us to be seated immediately. The table displayed a $10 entry charge, but we were not asked to pay this fee. The atmosphere was fantastic, and the staff was welcoming and responsive to our questions. I ordered the Spicy Pineapple Margarita, while my partner chose a Top Shelf Spicy Margarita. Both drinks were excellent and reasonably priced, as was the food. While waiting for our drinks and food, we enjoyed the live band. As the establishment is Hispanic, the primary language spoken was Spanish, so I didn't catch the band's name, but they were highly entertaining. They even performed "Baby Shark" for a young fan in the audience. We ordered the Camarones Al Ajillo (sautéed shrimp with rice) and Fresh Guacamole, which came with refried beans and salsa. I wish I took photos but I don't review a ton. I had to post this because it was absolutely the BEST true Mexican food we have had. The Barbacoa is amazing. The tacos are perfection. Everything is fresh. The owner is the sweetest human being and he is so proud of his work, so generous and kind. Ask for him and ask him about his recipes! It is a really small establishment in the shopping center where target is. I did only drink but it was really tasty I chose a mango margarita. They had a band playing Spanish rock music. When I saw the name "Alebrijes" I was expecting to see those beautiful Mexican crafts decorating the restaurant, but there were none, so that was the first surprise. The food was OK, Mexican items that you don't find in other restaurants however; first time I've been charge for a very small portion of chips and salsa which is customarily free in any other Mexican restaurant. Last and most important surprise: We were a party of four (2 couples). When we got the bill, we did not notice that gratuity had already been included. We had the bill split 50/50 % and both parties added gratuity to the total. We didn't realized there was a double dip on the gratuity until we got home and checked the receipt to see how we have gotten to that total. I have seen gratuity been included for large parties, but never for four people. I was particularly upset about this because the service did not merit the amount they pushed on us in the bill. read more

You could tell it was prepped in advance and old. The bar was also "out of ingredients" to make 2 of the drinks we requested initially before settling on the house margaritas which were alright. This place is a hidden gem! I've come through this parking lot to go to Target so many times not realizing that this was here! I got a shrimp and rice taco dish and it was delicious. Wow. Wow, wow, wow. What a great little place. We were in Dallas for the fair and found this place through Yelp. It's located in a little mall in a not super great part of town. There were only a couple of other tables occupied. But we dove in and were glad we did! Service was attentive without being overbearing, and there's an open kitchen where we could see the staff working. They work HARD here and show a lot of attentiveness to the food. We all got the 3 street taco plates and were glad we did. First, though they are smaller street tacos, they are filled to bursting with protein. Second, the rice that comes with them is really uniquely made and very flavorful. Third, they are DELICIOUS! Look, we're from So. Cal., so we're food snobs. I make no excuses. If we're going out, we want great food. And Alebrijes delivers. So much that I'm sat I can't eat there more - we drove up from San Antonio. But the next time I'm in Dallas, you will find me here. On recommendations we came for lunch. Driving up to Alebrijes it would appear quite unassuming. Step inside and it's got a great vibe. Then there's the food. My wife and I were amazed at the quality of the food. She with quesadillas and myself enchiladas: the taste and freshness were off the chart. Best Mexican I have eaten in a long time, and one of the best Mexican restaurants in the DFW area. Frankly, this place, with this owner, should be in a more vibrant area of Dallas, with locations in Fort Worth, Burleson, and more, all with the same criteria to serve fresh and amazing food to every guest. I don't say this often. It's worth driving an hour for the food and experience. Truly authentic tacos! We both ordered the 3 tacos, one being a full plate that included sides. Every taco - carne asada, brisket (English translation) and chicken stew (ET) exceeded our expectations. The meat was flavorful, the shells were fresh and perfectly textured and the green sauce (one of two, also an orange sauce on every table) complimented two of them perfectly. However none of them "required" the sauces. I can't forget to mention the deliciously fresh and chunky guacamole we started off with, definitely worth it! I will however skip the chips and salsa. This is a brand new Mexican restaurant tucked away in the target plaza. I'm from California and these have been some of the best tacos that I've had in a long time since living here in Texas. Definitely authentic Mexican street tacos versus the nasty Tex-Mex everywhere else gives a.k.a. torches etc.. I recommend the Carnitas tacos and the Barbacoa tacos. They charge about three dollars per taco and extra for the chips but it's good authentic Mexican food. Oh, and make sure you get the corn tortillas because they're homemade and delicious ! read more
