My mom and I ducked in here for margaritas and a quick lunch while strolling the Malecón, and it turned into one of those "this is definitely the life" kind of stops. First win: patio seating right at the edge with an open view of the bay. Ocean breeze, boats drifting by, prime people-watching. Second win: margaritas served in comically large metal goblets. Ice cold, perfectly balanced, and exactly what you want when you've been power-shopping in the sun. I ordered the seafood tostada and my mom went with the shrimp. Both arrived piled high with fresh seafood and crisp vegetables on crunchy tostada shells. Bright flavors, great texture, and no skimping on ingredients. This is our traditional first stop when we get into PV. Sat on the beach (but far enough back that the vendors can't get to you - pro tip), had a fresh order of aguachiles cameron and a margarita. That margarita turned into three and it was a lovely stumble home. A lovely place to watch the sunset and always really good quality food and incredible service. read more

Food was not that good. I ordered filete zarandeado con camarones. They gave me three pieces of shrimp and some overcooked fish. The huachinango frito was also underwhelming, it was dry and had no meat. Food was 5/10 to be honest. Service was slow but we were there for a long time. We loved this place years ago. Mainly for the good food and beach view location. Recently went back and we were disappointed. The food wasn't quite the same and not nearly as good. Drinks were fine. No issues with the service, it's average. The other thing about this place is what's already mentioned. The constant barrage of peddlers ruining your experience. Was willing to overlook this for the food and we usually sit further back to avoid them(they still come in), but now, with meh food...it's not worth it. Location is great you can enjoy your food, drinks while watching the sunset also be prepared to be bombarded with sales fleas-constantly being disturbed by men and women who want to sell you a ton of flea market items. We spent 3 weeks in a condo which overlooked this restaurant and ended up eating there 4 times. Nice selection of seafood tacos, shrimp various ways and other treats. I had the coconut shrimp twice and my wife had different varieties of the seafood tacos. All very nice with friendly service and reasonable prices for a beach establishment. Now, you will find yourself fending off various vendors and, since seating is on the beach, find your plastic chair sinking into the ground! It's all part of the fun.... We were there when Hurricane Lidia passed through and left our area without power for a couple days. The winds and storm surge put the g\hurt to Canto del Mar but we watched the staff prepare prior to landfall with sandbags and recover quickly afterwards. Also, Hurricane Norma missed us on it's way to Cabo but gave us some pretty impressive surf that ended up washing through the restaurant. Again, quick reaction by the staff and they were up and running quickly. read more

Just be aware like many of the restaurants here, merch will come drop by to see if you're interested in buying things/brading. We had 10+ come by during our 30 mins stay which felt a bit much for us. Popped in for dinner and we got the ceviche and crab tacos. Ceviche here is more ground/shredded, not chunky, not 100% sure what type of fish we had though. I had originally ordered the appetizer but the guy said, "it's only enough for 1 tostada" and got me to order the entree, which was WAY too much. There were bell peppers in the ceviche too, flavor wise, it was fine. Asked about how the crab tacos were prepared and what we were told was not what we had imagined, still good but very different. The crab taco is rolled and drenched with a chipotle sauce, it's similar to a smaller soft enchilada (only way I can think to explain), flavor wise it was good. It came with side salad and rice. Salad was pretty wilted. Overall, it was a nice experience on the beach and it was covered. read more

Quite good for what it is: an affordable Mexican place on the beach (with a roped off area where vendors can't bother you). I really liked the crab tacos actually (which were presented a little more like enchiladas, but who cares). Mostly, their sauces are great: the lock habañero hot sauce on the table, the dressing on the salad, the aioli on the tacos, and the bean paste. The location is the true reason for the second star. If located anywhere else, this place is a single star. We were seated quickly directly oceanside (thus the second star). I ordered the chicken tacos, my husband ordered the mahi tacos, and we got some guacamole. The guac looked heinous but tasted ok and came with a very good salsa. The chicken and fish tacos came with literally nothing else on the tortilla. The chicken was dry and flavorless; the fish was flavorless but moist. The side salad was acceptable and the rice was clumped and seemed like it came from a microwaveable bag. To add ANY flavor to the tacos, I grabbed some hot sauce from an adjacent table since our server had long since disappeared. Overall - gross. Unless you're stopping for a beer and some salsa, steer clear. read more

Gotta throw in some stars for the vibe and beach view! However, the drink + food were a disappointment. The margarita tasted like spiked lemonade - no balance at all. I ordered the chicken tacos. Yes, I asked for no onions - so I guess that meant they come absolutely plain, just chicken and tortilla. The chicken was unbelievably dry and overcooked. Hence, I could only stomach one of the three tacos. The rice and side salad on the side were decent, though. All that said, I literally left pretty much everything over. Drink and food. The waiter brought over the check and then asked me if everything was OK with my meal (considering I barely touched anything) - and I told him, to be honest, I wasn't pleased. But not to worry about it. So, he took back the check (before I paid) clearly intimating he would amend it in some capacity. But then he returned and charged me the full price. I'm not quite sure what happened, if a manager didn't OK a discount or whatever. Anyway, I paid by credit card and he assumed there would be no tip because he said "no tip?" However, as one who has worked in the service industry for two decades, I understand that situations like this are often not the server's fault (although, I could never imagine charging a guest - who didn't touch their meal - full price). Hence, I told him to add 25% and he seemed surprised and grateful. But -- I had to leave this review here, though, because it's an exceedingly low class move for an establishment not to modify the bill AT ALL after a guest clearly didn't eat or drink anything they ordered (and said they were dissatisfied). Also, even though there is a rope that separates the restaurant from general beach goers, peddlers were constantly hopping over and pushing their items on guests. I'm not sure why the restaurant allows this when, again, they clearly put up a divide. read more

I absolutely LOVE this little gem! They sit just off the malecon right on the beach. It doesn't have the vibe of the touristy spots that are in the same area. The prices are great, the service excellent, and the food is divine. Just be careful ordering some of the seafood options as not all of them are local and you won't have the same experience as you would ordering fresh seafood from Banderas Bay. I typically order the steak fajitas and I make lots of weird adjustments to my order which they always accommodate. I also enjoy that they have a rope around their beach dining to prevent vendors from interrupting your dining experience. This is a great spot to have an afternoon lunch with friends or a sunset romantic dinner. read more

Have to agree with the other 5 star reviews here. Great service, solid prices, great food. Beachside seating, plenty of shade, and beautiful views. Ordered the camarones a la Diabla, chicken tacos, and fried shrimp. Daughter devoured the tacos, wife and I dusted the shrimp dishes. Initially, the waiter brought us fish dishes instead of shrimp, but immediately apologized and got us the correct dishes within 3-4 minutes. Shrimp were huge! Great flavor! Also ordered the guacamole as an appetizer, and it was great. Gringo Notes: The closer you sit to the beach, the more vendors you will have to shake off. Part of the culture, and I can't knock their hustle. Picked up a cool bracelet for the daughter. Super Gringo Notes: the conversion rate of pesos to dollars here is 17:1, below market rate. This is pretty STANDARD for all restaurants in Mexico. Either come with pesos, or expect a slight upcharge. read more

We really liked this place. Everyone got some kind of seafood -- the tacos, the ceviche, the seafood ensalada. Everything was awesome. And you sit at tables on the sand watching the waves come in with fans cooling you off. If this isn't an advertisement for Corona, it's pretty darn close. Eh. Okay. You can tell by the music and the location that it is oriented towards English speaking tourists. Cool staff. Professional. Decent prices. Beautiful views. Welcoming ambiance. Here is what I ordered: 1. Ceviche 2. Calamar Frito 3. Guacamole 4. Langosta al Gusto 5. Camarones Momia When I saw fajitas on the menu I knew it was more of an extranjero spot. Fajitas are a Tex-Mex food originally. Origin story is that in Texas, American ranchers would give Mexican ranchers (vaqueros) received meat trimmings for pay. The fajitas stayed relatively obscure due to the fact that meat was not available comercially. Not saying fajitas are not great. Not saying Western Mexico cannot reclaim it and make it delicious. Just saying I clearly see it as a pandering to American tourists. General Thoughts on food: 1. Decent, but not for me. This was a bunch of seafood in what looked like it was blended together, formed as a cake and served with avocado slices on top. I am used to the whole formed (albeit small) bits of seafood. 2. Thick batter. White sauce was nothing to write home about. I would not order this again. 3. A big + here. The chips were tasty too. Even in Mexico this guac is solid. 4. Not much meat on this. The rice and veggies were cooked well. But the way they were cooked spoke to me - bland, without spice, for white people (I say this with love - I had a friend's mom in high school never season her chicken breast. Made me sad). The Langosta itself was fine. I wish for more spice though. Or any spice for that matter. However, it was savory. 5. Shrimp wrapped in bacon. Did not expect that. Not hard to mess this up. It was tasty. However, I was expecting something Mexican slathered in a 20+ ingredient mole some abuela has been making for days (okay a little much, but at least some spice). Momia means mummy, but I did not think it would be a mummy wrapped in bacon! Creative name. If I did go back here, I would not mind ordering this again. I do not see this in the USA so I figured it was a Mexican's interpretation of how to make a classic Mexican meal with an American touch (bacon). Try it out. Do the coconut shrimp instead of the momia. P.S. A lot of Mexican food have the same names. So unless you know what to ask the server for, judging by the restaurant scenery is what's best. During COVID, it is difficult to see if a spot is hot. If it makes you feel comfortable (American music, English wordings, majority Americans, etc.) probably venture somewhere else where more locals eat. But have caution. I have gotten Montezuma's Revenge from some tiburón in a small mom and pop shop deep in PV. As Octavio Paz puts it, Mexicans believe there can be no health without contact. So expect love, but also look for egregious signs of poor health practice. P.P.S. What is up with the guys asking if I want drugs in the boardwalk just outside this restaurant? read more
