In early 2017, I had a falling out with my dentist of 17 years -- a misunderstanding unrelated to dentistry. I changed to Canyon Crest Dental (CCD). But it was all a mistake, with the misunderstanding cleared up soon after. I have made a reconciliation with him -- postponed far too long. As a patient ignorant of dentistry, I place trust in medical professionals expecting they meet ethical standards. I want them to consider my means, needs -- priorities. I don't care how my teeth look; I don't want to make a big investment in my mouth at age 73 -- I could die in ten years. I want to enjoy a T-Bone steak or a hardshell taco. Do some dentists see "$-signs" with seniors? I wouldn't have known for sure, but I know seniors who think it, and I know now. For the two decades' service from my previous dentist (call him "A"), I had no abscesses, no toothaches; I got regular cleanings and x-rays, and when I had fillings or crowns, I could trust the diagnosis and treatment. Expenses with A never exceeded an annual $1,900 to the last year of his service. CCD cost me $5,350 per year over 3 years -- not including specialist referrals totaling $,4,070 over 2 years. Nor does it include annual membership (cleaning/x-rays), or topical fluoride. A disturbing pattern emerged soon in the 2nd year with a molar dentist A might have extracted. Dentist B -- CCD's Alexandria Brent -- removed the tooth and ordered an implant for a total $3,000. The implant failed, and I was referred to a specialist to do it properly. After the warranty credit by CCD, I had incurred a net bill of $4,500. Of the 4 or 5 dentists over my lifetime prior to CCD, none EVER needed to do warranty repair, and I was NEVER referred to an outside specialist to correct the work. CCD should've made it right for free, or paid the specialist themselves. Soon after the first implant, I was scheduled for a new crown on another molar. On the scheduled day, I was told it required a root-canal, and on the next visit I was then told of a hairline fracture requiring extraction (thus, a costly implant). The missing tooth in the back of my mouth has yet to get the implant. I tried to save up money for it, but I had sustained a titanic CCD leak in my wallet since 2017. Then, I had some fillings made in January, 2020, to my lower front teeth. Note: the number of fillings ordered in any given year by B/CCD was on average twice or more the maximum yearly I'd had from A. I was told to brush and floss often, and did. Dr. B had left a barb on the filling, and it caught on the floss; so the filling came out after 6 months. I went to CCD again for repair. B examined the tooth, took an x-ray, and called for a root-canal. When I showed dismay, she suggested it could be extracted for an implant. B offered quick support when I opted for extraction/implant, and this was telltale -- B was too eager. An ethical doctor would never suggest more than necessary. Should you have a heart transplant needing only a bypass, an amputation for a broken leg, removal of an eye wanting new glasses? I was told they couldn't fix the filling as "responsible practice". I chose to get another opinion, contacting dentist A. Taking an x-ray, dentist A fixed the filling in 20 minutes, using his drill with no anesthetic -- and no pain. Yet, Dr. Brent warned of abscess and pain in tones of urgency if her treatment was delayed. Dentist A charged $260. Brent's options cost $1,200 to $3,100. Recalling the earlier implant, the total outlay may have been more. CCD refused to pay even part of A's bill -- after 2 years of lavish grift. Weeks before, Dr. B had given me a plan for $11,000+ in future work. Just months before I had been assured my vast dental repair was soon to end. Maybe CCD staff didn't rehearse their story, but Brent was counting future dollars. You can pay CCD to practice on your teeth and delay getting another Ferrari to grace your ten-car garage. I have a fixed income, caring for two disabled relatives, living in a real world. I want honest, ethical medical care at fair cost. What is the First Principle? "Do no harm"? I suspect CCD harvested my teeth and money. If quantity of work is means to the latter end -- there is harm either way. This was my experience, ignorant as I am of dentistry. Current rumor I had initially missed in 2017 speaks of CCD as a "rip-off". Sources include a bank exec, dentist, a successful entertainer -- prosperous people who worry less about money. I should have broken from CCD with the failed implant. I trust my dentist, Dr. A. I can't trust CCD or Dr. Brent, despite abundant printouts, diplomas on walls, new equipment, movie-star photo displays of perfect teeth. Would we be better off if Brent and Co. had other vocations? Got a same day appt for a cracked tooth. Staff is very nice, professional. Dr k ? Female with wall degree from UCLA, is quick and professional. Got in, took x rays, brief discussion with dr. Showed me prices, and fixed my problem in 2 hours total! During the procedure, I was given some sunglasses and some head phones to block out the light in my face and head phones for music to block out the noise! One problem I had, she placed a mouth piece in my mouth so I wouldn't have to hold my mouth open wide for an hour, not comfortable what so ever. I would rather she asked me.At the end, she gave me some pain killers, mouth wash, and gave me a call from her cell phone stating if I was in pain or had concerns with her work today, to call her anytime! Decor, nice for the Inland Empire. Cheap wood panels sound like every person walking has heels on! Large pictures of people with large bright white perfect teeth to make you want to perfect your teeth at any cost!! Would I return?? Yes because its only the cleanest and most professional I've been to closest to me. Went back for 2nd appt last week. The dentist, friendly as always, took care of my concerns. However as I went home, I started to itch and have an allergic reaction to the anesthesia. So I waited for the dentist to call me as she did prior...and no call. So I called the office, it was closed. So I called the cell phone that is listed on the voice mail and NO ONE EVER CALLED ME BACK? I was GREATLY DISAPPOINTED FROM THE FIRST APPT. THEY LOST A STAR DUE TO LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE ONCE THEY RECEIVED THEIR FINAL PAYMENT FROM ME! As for my health, I took care of it with benadryl dosage from my local CVS pharmacy. read more

My friend from school recommend me this place so I went there for cleaning my teeth. They suggest me to get some of my teeth filled. So I get my teeth filled on March and one of them chipped on August. Only five months. It hurts even when I use my mouth to breath air. So I went back there to get my teeth filled again. They asked me to pay for re-do it . Update on June 2018, I paid for re-do that chipping filling material on August 2017, and after almost a year, a collection company called me said I still owe canyon crest dental money for that visit. And collection company put a mark on my credit report for $63. This is so crazy, I didn't get phone call from canyon crest dental and no email about this $63. They ever send me a promotion email but nothing about the bill. How would I know insurance didn't refused to cover it? read more

I'm super thankful for this place and it's staff! Once upon a time my husband decided to wrestle with the pavement--he lost! We were able to get seen immediately and replace a broken tooth. Fast forward, dad needed surgery but not without a Dentist's okay first. Same day appointment and we were able to schedule surgery! I am super loyal, so it took a lot to ditch my old dentist. This is my new update. I had my teeth filled here at the end of 2016 and it is now the beginning of 2018 and my teeth ache! I don't think there sand blast filling is the best quality if there are so many people leaving bad reviews about their fillings coming off or chipping. It's been maybe a year and a half and my teeth already hurt and feel like they are exposed. This place is ridiculously expensive for the quality! I had 3 of my wisdom teeth pulled here and I guess if a certain amount is spent then anesthesia treatment is complementary... the employees failed to mention that to me. In fact they said it would be extra. It wasn't until the day I got my teeth pulled that I found this out! They used a local anesthetic for the first 2 teeth. It was so bad I had to make an appointment to come back and get the last wisdom tooth pulled with anesthesia! This could have been avoided if they knew how to communicate in this business! I went through so much anxiety and stress during the first two teeth pulling! Also I had two crowns put in and with their lighting the crown color looked like my teeth but once I got into my car the crowns looked yellow and embarrassing! So much money for yellow crowns! Also do not get the stupid night guard! It's a damn rip off! They practically pushed me to get it. They created the mold for my night guard prior to fixing my teeth so it does not fit right and hurts! $500 for nothing! ALSO I purchased the whitening kit. They molded my teeth for the kit and when I received my teeth molds back they were freaking lopsided! LOPSIDED! The damn peroxide seeps into my gums and burns! These people have no idea what they are doing and charge up the you know what and find anyway to up-sell their patients so they can buy fancy things to make their business look nice! And some of the front staff are extremely rude! They have so many 5 star reviews and so many 1 star reviews.... they have to be paying for those 5 stars really! I knew I should have listened to my family and gone somewhere else in the very beginning! Don't judge a book by it's cover! Just because this place looks nice and is in a somewhat nice area, the quality is majorly lacking! I'm so upset I feel like they stole money from me! NOW I HAVE TO GO SOMEWHERE ELSE TO GET MY TEETH FIXED AGAIN! Beware! Do not go here unless you want your fillings falling out, yellow crowns, and molds for teeth that don't fit properly! I have been a patient with canyon crest dental for over 10 years. I can honestly say I liked them much more when they were smaller. It seems like now they are more about money then anything rather then customer service. I had a crown fall out two weeks ago and called them immediately to try and get in given the urgency of my situation I explained this to them and that I live in LA so only can come in Saturday's. The soonest they could see me was two Saturdays from when I called . When I arrive I was under the impression that I was just getting my tooth cemented back in but they told me I waited to long and now need a new crown. This is 1,000$ and I was angry because they failed to advise me correctly . To make matters worse I spoke to manager Paula and she told me the crown was older and more then likely i would have needed it replaced anyways . She said she would look into the matter and call me back and never did . The office staff should have let me know that I needed to keep tooth in order to keep it from shifting as well as tried to fit me In sooner but this didn't happen. The unfortunate part is I have 10 people in my family that to here and this situation has me looking for another dentist . I'm writing this for my wife since she is in so much pain after one crown fitting today. First, her teeth where the Novocaine WASNT inserted are killing her.WTF? Second the "dentist" who tried to do her job and failed at it miserably kept saying "woops" while doing this basics procedure of trying to for the crown. She kept scraping my wife's gums over and over. Woops? Woops? Are you incompetent and inept at your job? Ok, so this is the second review, but with the COVID-19 amongst us, I was worried I wasn't going to get my son back into the dentist. I called them early Saturday (today) and asked if he can be seen. As always Canyon Crest Dental was able to squeeze us in and the wait has always been less than 10 minutes before we're called back! Staff are always friendly. I highly recommend. I had the worst experience ever at this dental office. I went in in horrible pain in desperate need of a root canal. I was told that I couldn't see a surgeon for a whole month . I was in extreme pain and when I asked for at least a prescription for pain medication I was denied and asked to come back. I didn't even receive Any antibiotics where clearly my tooth was infected. A few days later I went somewhere else and got my root canal the same day I went. Following that a whole month and a half later I received a phone call saying the surgeon was going to be coming in if I would like to still set an appointment! A whole month and a half later! This office is always friendly, communicative, reliable, professional and clean. What I appreciate even more so are their rewards/incentives. I've referred several friends/family members and the office sent me free movie tickets, dental gift cards, etc. When I had a really long wait (which isn't always the case), they kindly gifted me a Starbucks card which definitely turned my mood around. I chose Canyon Crest Dental for convenience, as I do much of my errands in the Towne Centre and live nearby. Its ambiance is clearly unmatched, technology is state of the art, staff is friendly and the doc's bedside manner is amazing. My issue: My 13 year old daughter was scheduled to have 4 fillings. I was unable to bring her in myself so my mother-in-law obliged. Her grandmother reported that the Dr. only performed the injections and drilling and that a "registered dental technician" completed the fillings. It shocked me to learn this as it was my understanding (and experience) that the dentist would perform all the dental work, especially for a 13 year old, and an $850 treatment. read more

My college-aged son went in today for his 1st appointment to have a general exam, cleaning and because he definitely needed an onlay or a crown. We met the office staff during a wine festival the Canyon Crest center put on and I was VERY impressed. I'd previously worked for a huge dental practice management company. Typically offices with the technologies this one has are extremely expensive and tend to up-sell at every opportunity. This one DID NOT! They took excellent care of my son, let him know what he needs, scheduled him before the end of the year so he can maximize his benefits but didn't use scare tactics at his 1st visit (as my former employer would) to overwhelm patients & make them think they've got the worst teeth they've ever seen. As a parent of a VERY independent college student - I appreciate this beyond words! Front office is excellent. We've previously met Michelle & she was wonderful & encouraged us not to feel bad about any dental issues (I have hereditarily bad teeth plus a health issue that caused tremendous enamel & dentin degradation, my son's have struggled w/gum disease despite pretty good hygiene - great brush habits, ok floss habits) when she invited us to come check out the practice. (That an employee is this proud of her company outside of the office, also says a LOT!) Back office - my son saw Dr. Pitts & felt very comfortable, he was candid, explained everything in detail without trying to "up sell" to the latest, greatest crowns & just was Tx oriented. Secondly he saw the Hygienist, Angie, who explained how he could improve his hygiene & how she'd complete his cleaning in 2-steps (again, without scare tactics or trying pushing him into SRP's - if you've gone through corporate dentistry you'll understand- when he simply needs to clean, improve hygiene, heal his gums and do a full mouth debridement - which again is a big difference from Corp dentistry)! He also mentioned that both dental assistants (sorry, he didn't recall names) were excellent. He mentioned that all were very gentle & he left feeling very confident (as did I!). In short (yeah right... I'm verbose... but I like detail) this office is one that ALREADY we'd happily recommend because patient care is clearly the priority here vs. production. Sadly, within this industry that says a lot. But so does the service, happy & proud employees and the number of friends/neighbors who've recommended this practice! read more

The office looks new and clean. Both the front and back office is kind and helpful. Kim has been exceptionally helpful and understanding to me and my husband. My husband and I have both been seen here several times this year and it has been a great experience each time, they make dental appointments something we don't necessarily dread, which is rare!
