Randomly stumbled upon this place after getting slightly lost and so glad we did. Beautiful scenary overlooking the mountains. We sat outside and enjoyed a draft beer with a mountain salad with cheese and dressing on the side and also got an order of pierogies. Our waitress was very pleasant and accommodating. As much as I want to support and love local, the last stand would be a last choice the next time hubby and I return to the area. My Caesar salad was good. A nice portion of salad with some grilled chicken. It was not a $15 salad but I get we are not close to supply chain lines up in the (gorgeous) hills. I had called ahead and the place did have a veggie burger off menu which hubby liked well enough. He really enjoyed the pikes peak brew. All of this would have been a four star. It was my friend's order of chicken strips that knocked down my rating. No joke, when they came out, we all wondered if they were actually chicken; they were flat, strangely textured strips of something. If you are going to serve bar food - serve good bar food. There is outdoor seating for those looking for that in this covid world. read more

They really, really need to bring their prices in line with the market place. Every time we go here we say it will be the last time, then get lazy and go again and are disappointed again. $15 for a cold sandwich and a 1oz bag of chips is just gouging plain and simple. Stopped here with young kids on a weekday afternoon. Great view, good food and cocktails, great service, plenty of space for kids to stretch out. I would recommend to anyone traveling with kids without hesitation. We had wings, pierogis, pasta for kids, and chicken salad. Margaritas were great! read more

We were sad to see the German restaurant is no longer in business, but we decided to drive up for lunch today to check out the new place. My husband seemed to enjoy his burger, and my salad was very good, as well as my virgin mary. The place is clean and nicely decorated for a tavern. The patio is nice too with a great view. Service was a bit slow and it took 20 minutes and a trip to the bar to get drinks served after getting our menus. One big issue: about half way through my "virgin" mary, I started to feel the effects of alcohol. Sure enough, when the bill came it showed that a bloody mary had been ordered and not a virgin mary. Mediocre food at best and SUPER small portions for the rip off prices. I had the buffalo chicken salad. Smaller than most side dinner salads at other places, maybe 6 pieces of chicken (1/4 inch tiny pits)...was to come with blue cheese crumbles, couldn't find any. That was 12 bucks waisted. This is a fantastic place to enjoy some delicious food, tasty beverages, and unbeatable atmosphere. The service is very friendly, and prompt. And the view from the deck is amazing! They are a sports bar too with a huge variety of games on big screen TVs situated throughout the tavern. Ive been there a few times now and ordered the Philly Cheesesteak "wit Wiz", Fish and Chips, and a variety of appetizers. All are highly recommended. We are from Philly.  Like a few places in CO this establishment claimed to make a real Philly Cheesesteak, but unlike most, they got it right.  Don't make a steak with cheese wiz if you can't do it right.  This tavern does it right, and on a real roll as well.  So much so that you could put it up against the big guys in South Philly.  The Rubeun sandwich was also amazing.  Clean place, friendly staff and bar environment, incredible views off the deck and better yet, classic northeast food done right.  This is worth driving into the mountains for.  Can't wait to go back. read more

Was in the restaurant tonight and some guy was being very offensive and loud and I thought the owners were very respectful when they escorted him out. They handled themselves very well and the guy posted a negative post about the place just now. Only one star rating for the whole place if you see that. **DISRESPECTED BY THE OWNER OF LAST STAND ON 72** I mistakenly told my mother to park at The Last Stand while she was at my house for Thanksgiving for all of 3hours. Apparently that is frowned upon and the mistake was ours. What is disconcerting, is that instead of being a gentlemen and a responsible business owner who cares about the what the community thinks of his business. The following transpired. He tells my friend and mother that he's about to tow the vehicle. Then my mother states that there was another vehicle there so we figured it was ok. He tells them that it was his vehicle and they respond saying they didn't know that. He doesn't hear them well and thinks my mother is saying something disrespectful. Then starts cussing at them, proceeding to call my mother the C word. And mfers and other obscenities. Undeniably, my mother shouldn't have parked there and it was a mistake. But to react and call a grown woman the C word ever, but especially thanksgiving, is appalling. I use to go up there 3/4 times a month for drinks(the food is garbage) but will no longer support these people and think people like that do not belong in this canyon. read more

My wife and I returned to the Last Stand and she had fries and chicken wings, I had the Philly Cheesesteak, which was served on a tasty authentic Amoroso roll. I will come for drinks and the view and live music, 5 stars. I have tried the chicken strips inedible, chili good but about 3 tablespoons, salad horrible, fish and chips was good but I try and stay away from deep fried food, and they could have easily presented it nicely, it was strewn on the plate as if the cook did not care at all. I ordered the grilled cheese... cant say it was a grilled cheese, yes they cant make a grilled cheese. The cheese was not melted at all, it was strangely tasteless and I think they have a vendor that sells mini slices of bread. The guy next to be said the Reuben melted in his mouth so I guess I will try that and since they are from Philadelphia, maybe the Philly cheesesteak is good. I hope I can find 2 good dishes. I know everyone is short staffed but for not being busy it can be a long wait. If the food here was good they would have a line outside to get in. So maybe its better this way as I love the view, and great pours of wine!! read more

Very unsanitary conditions. No one in the kitchen was wearing a mask. Our waitress wasn't wearing hers properly and even pulled it down to speak. I watched her do this at other tables besides ours. The toilet in the ladies room did not flush! There was no running water in the ladies room! There was only hand sanitizer outside the restroom door. The food was very mediocre at best. I think the owner said something along the lines of, "Great people, great drinks, and great food". I can't speak on behalf of the people, but the food is far from great, and the prices are a joke for what you get. The appetizers tasted like they've been sitting in the back of a freezer for months, and they even managed to make a burger taste like crap. My dad enjoys crappy bar food and he even said it was bad. They could have something going for them if they cared about the food and the prices, but the view is all they got. read more

I do not recommend eating here. Just have a beer and move on. We met the owners when they first opened and had high hopes to have a good restaurant in the area but our second visit sealed the deal for us. An unfriendly man seated us, but at least our waitress was nice! We ordered dinner and my boyfriend got his meal and mine came out 20 minutes later. We didn't get an explanation. He ate his meal without me ! It was fish and chips ($15) but there were only 14 French fries!!! What!!!?? That's a joke ! The server told us he would get in trouble if he served more. My black bean burger was ok but again hardly any fries ($16). Bottom line is that when you go out to dinner on a date it should be served at the same time !! And if I'm gonna pay $15 for fish and chips, give me some chips!!!!! read more

This place was just awful. This was my second time here. We were here in March for my birthday and got terrible service and OK food, but the owner and our waiter at that time completely forgot our appetizer. He did comp it, but we felt compelled to return, as we love to support local businesses here. This time, we brought friends. After repeated attempts to get our hamburgers cooked medium rare, our burgers were delivered dry and barely edible. Had we not been hungry and headed to Red Rocks, we would have left. All 4 of our meals were terrible. My tator tots were all grease, no potato. My mans fish was dark dark brown, there was hardly any meat in the cheesesteak and the prices are ridiculous. $15 for a hamburger and tator tots!! Just ridiculous!! The best part was when me and my friend complained about our burgers being very dry to the waitress, she said, and I quote "oh well, is everything else okay" and laughed. Keep on driving. Do not stop. Quite possibly the worst restaurant experience I've had. Service was exceptionally terrible. Had to go to the bar for drinks because it took the waitress 20 minutes to greet us at our table. She completely forgot our appetizers and so we had those for dessert AND were still charged for them. $14 for a salad that was iceberg out of a bag with less than half a chicken breast, a quarter of a tomato, and one piece of blue cheese. Burger was overcooked completely. Food took 45 minutes from order to table- three salads and a burger. Total waste of money and completely unpleasant experience. AND they were NOT busy during our visit. We could have finished driving down the canyon, ate at a place in Broomfield and been home before our experience atThe Last Stand was completed. We wanted to support a small local business, but, again, keep driving. Go to Ned or Westminster/Arvada/ Broomfield. Don't waste you time and money here. read more

If you are going to charge $15 for a burger, you need a cook who knows how to fix a burger. Mine was a dried out hockey puck, so was the other one at our table. Do you know how hard it is to overcook a half pound burger? It had shrunk so much it did not even cover the bun, which means you are eating bun, not so much a hamburger. The fries were good. Oh, I was not asked how I wanted the burger, medium, well done, etc. It was well done about 10 minutes before it was taken off the heat. No wonder it took so long to to prepare. read more

The beer selection is also good, with options to suit every preference. Also enjoyed the live music on the weekend. since the people at Yelp let the owners delete the real honest reviews this will only be posted for about two days. Any one who has posted a review that isn't great gets deleted. The real truth is this is cheap bar food, served on wax paper. I did have the worst fish dinner I have ever had in my life. I posted this 3 weeks ago in of course it was taken down in two days. I once believed that this site was better, and would leave the bad posting up as well, to tell the truth to others. The fish was two skimpy cheep pieces of fish, and a hand full of fries, That's ALL nothing else, if you want to pay $13.99 for that, then you don't care what you spend your money on. Really like this place! Lots of TVs, awesome mountain town vibe with tons of beer selection and great food.

My impression is that Last Stand is suffering from management inexperience or some cash flow issues. I dislike rating them a 2 star bar and I hope they review my comments and improve. The tavern occupies a nice location on highway 72. The interior is clean and our server and the bartender were friendly upon arrival. We arrived around 7pm on a Saturday night and I expected a full house. To my surprise most of the bar was empty as were many of the inside tables. There were about 7 tables of 10 tables occupied on the patio. Our server gave us menus and and went to bring back water. When she returned she took drink orders. Our party ordered mixed drinks and I ordered a draft beer however I was told that the house switched over the draft offerings for Father's Day and hadn't finished those kegs. The only problem was the menu didn't include the current draft offering. So the first issue was the incorrect draft beer menu. The drinks arrive after what seemed too long given the lack of people in the tavern. The drinks were reasonably priced but my companions thought the drinks were weak. My beer was fine. One of my companions asked for some extra cherries for her drink. Our server went to get them but forgot to bring them back but she did eventually return with them. We all forget to do things from time to time so the issue here was the long time it took the server to return. Something was keeping our server out of our area and it occurred several times. At some point our server told us the kitchen was backed up. A bit of a surprise as the tavern didn't seem crowded. Back she comes and asks for our orders. We are told that there were no French fries available so it was either tater tots or a salad. This is a burger, hot dog kind of joint so it just seemed odd that there were no fries to be had on what I'd think would be a busy day. The server asked if we needed refills so I ordered another beer and my wife ordered a wine. These drinks never arrived While we were sitting two other couples came in and sat near us. They too also ordered and at some point the bartender, not our server brings out 3 orders to a table where 2 people were sitting. It appears that 2 orders were for that table and the 3rd order was for the second table. Both of these tables were seated after us and ordered after us but they received their food first. One of the orders was a Caesar salad with tomatoes on it. The person took the tomatoes off and commented about how Caesar salad did not include tomatoes. I'd not even mention this except that we were told that orders were prepared in the received order. At this point we had been at the tavern for 90 minutes and were seeing too many issues to remain so we canceled the food order (which still wasn't cooked) and asked for the bill. The bill included our drink reorders that never arrived so we needed that corrected as well. I really struggled with this review because I tend to discount slow service but this time there were so many events that I was certain the tavern was having some issues. It appears the tavern is a burger/ hotdog/ white bread kind of place. The drink prices were good though I thought the sandwich prices were a bit pricey given the menu. I do hope our experience was atypical but that doesn't seem the case after I read the two most recent reviews. So C'mon Last Stand. You can do better. read more
