My husband picked up dinner from here last night. Food was ok, but portion sizes were pitiful. We ordered the appetizer sampler, which had 2 tiny chicken fingers, 3 fried ravioli, 1 piece of garlic bread and 1 fried mozzarella!! I have never seen such a sad appetizer in my life. My husband had the chicken parm and I had the chicken Marsala...both tasted fine, but the portions were so small we were still hungry after eating everything...and I never finish my meals. My husband and I just went here and loved it. The food was hot and fresh, the service was very prompt and friendly. We were the last ones in the place and never felt rushed at all. Vinyl tablecloths and paper napkins, but real chairs, NOT the refurbed McDonald's vinyl booths you find in so many restaurants around here. As noted before, bread isn't great but dipping oil more than makes up for it. I highly recommend the arancini and the wedding soup. The chianti was lovely. Veal parm was a bit "chewy" according to my husband, but he still loved it. It wasn't thin cutlets, but rather a thicker cut. My chicken Rosario was very nice. Every bit of leftovers came home with us. We were too full and tired to have dessert, but next time I'm getting spumoni! They also have a nice selection of coffees and cordials. This wasn't a really romantic spot, but it was very friendly and nice, and we are returning. It was full even an hour before closing on a Sunday. It's also one of the few non-chain places open on a Sunday night. Also, I liked that the waiting area had a little teddy bear and a basket of children's books! This is very basic Italian food with no bells and whistles. We wandered in one Saturday night and had to wait about 30 minutes to be seated so it seems to be a hit in the area. The decor is nice and cozy feeling, although the waiting area was a bit cramped. The menu had the usual Italian fare with no attempt to take it up a notch. We were given some bread to start which I thought was a little bland. I ordered the shrimp scampi and thought the sauce really really lacked any kind of garlic flavor (to me, this is the essence of scampi). In fact, I added a bunch of garlic to my left overs the next day which drastically improved the dish. The dessert offerings were so-so but judging from other offerings here, I would be they are not made on site and none were overly tempting so we didn't bother. The waitress was ok but I was not offered a refill on my soda even though it was empty about half way through the meal. Great reasonably priced restaurant. Everyone here is super friendly and attentive. Monday's is "roll the dice day". You get a free appetizer, a free desert,or 10-20 and 50% off. The Arencini is delicious and the Brownie Sunday is the best! All the wait staff are wonderful,but our favorite waitress EVER is Cindy! After your second visit-she remembers everything you like ,you never have to ask for anything. She's amazing and makes everyone feel at home. To start off, there was an extremely limited lot for parking. The "chicken parmigiana" we received was quite disappointing since it was not the chicken parmigiana listed under the panini section we specifically asked for and pointed at. The pasta special was sub-par at best. There was nothing special to it all. I'd compare it to chef boyardee, but that would be insulting to chef boyardee. Chicken was also overcooked. I had wished I was one of the ceiling lights, so at least I could hang myself and not have to suffer through the dinner. Paid way too much for poor service and a bad night. I had the Chicken Capellini and my wife ordered the eggplant parm. Both dishes were excellent. Having liked our entrees so much we decided to get some dessert. We ordered Chicken Marsala, Chicken Parm, Ravioli with MeatBall and an Antipasto. -Their staff was responsive, flexible and easy to work with (Judy). -Service was excellent. -Price was reasonable. -Amounts of food and bread was very good. -Everybody (mostly Italians) loved the food. I wanted to like this place I really did....the staff was so nice...but the rest...horrible. I met a few people here one night after work. I had read the reviews so I was wary , but it was close to them. The first thing I noticed was the awful smell when I walked in...a combo of what smelled like septic & something trying to mask it by throwing the wrong kind of cleaner on it. The hostess was super nice ( simply the only reason they are getting 2 stars...one for the hostess & one for the waitress)...I was early but they offered me a seat & a drink immediately. Ok with the wine. I had Malbec. It was fine. Bread was stale...I ordered chicken parm with risotto. Disgusting. It was like 3 frozen pieces of chicken with canned sauce thrown on top...not kidding. The risotto was THE BLANDEST RISOTTO I'VE EVER HAD. I have NO CLUE what it was but I honestly thought it was most likely a box. No dessert...I would rather have bought a cannoli from the grocery store than here. Unless my friends insist on meeting there again....I will never go back. read more

Driving from Acadia to NJ, we pulled off the road, in Tewsbury, for the night. We decided to take a chance on this little restaurant, based on curb appeal & number of cars in the lot. We were delighted with what we found. A staff member was cleaning the glass window of the front door, as we approached. Inside, the entire place was immaculate. The seating hostess greeted us immediately and we were seated at an attractive table. The place smelled great. My husband had the homemade gnocchi bolognaise. They were plump & tender. I had the special butternut squash ravioli - wonderful. We also had garlic bread. Tasty, although not the chewy, crusty, Italian bread I grew up with in the NY/NJ area. This was light & airy, but buttery, with plenty of garlic. After a long day's drive, we were tired, and passed on dessert, but I bet they had some great homemade options. The chefs are visible in the kitchen, wearing their white coats and chef's hats. Classy. This was a great find, and I found defiantly go there again. read more

This was my second time to capellini's. Overall, the price for the meal you get I think is an awesome value. I did the 3 meal combo for 14.95 and the wedding soup is my favorite. Everything about it is home made and fresh. The broth was just right, it wasnt too salty. For my main course, I had the shrimp scampi and the crabmeat pie. The shrimp pasta was good, though alittle bit more flavoring couldnt have hurt. As for the crabmeat pie, real whole crab meat, no fake stuff, but the cracker crumble tasted alittle off. But everything for the most part was still really good. And lastly for desert, i had the chocolate cake, wasnt so thrilled about it. It was on the dry side :( i give capellini's 3 stars overall, but 4 stars for price! read more

We had ordered from the catering menu because we heard their food was decent. And over all it was not bad. Not impressive but not terrible. What was disappointing was that their dishes from the catering menu run from $40-$60 . The person who took my order at the restaurant showed me the tray covers but not the actual trays and she said that the suggested serving size was 8-10. The serving size was way under. Expect to serve 4-6 per dish. Although the tray covers are large, the trays were only 1 inch deep. We had a party of over 20 people and some people didn't even get to eat because we ran out of food. If you were thinking about catering I would suggest going to a more recognizable establishment where you know their portion sizes. read more

The wait staff has always been fine, most don't go out of their way to be friendly but they do their job. Prices a little high, they have good lunch prices though. I want to give this restaurant a good review but I just can't. First I will say that the waitress was very nice and accommodating (that's why 2 stars otherwise I would have rated it one star - yes, really). There were two of us. My guest had the special and I had an entire on the menu. Both were not good and one was priced at $22, the other $24 - I would expect a decent meal for this price (not a Capital Grille quality meal but decent). The cut of fish was dry, had something hard on the bottom (not sure what part of the fish has a hard part on the bottom) and the steak tips too chewy. The other meal was some kind if seafood stew over linguine- no flavor, the red sauce very thin. Just not tasty at all. So, when our nice waitress asked how the meal was I said "just ok". Should I have said something, maybe but too much of a hassle, I didn't have the time to send two meals back and my thought was if one meal was lousy then it was just a fluke but two? No, that's just bad cooking. Sorry Cappellinis, but if I'm going to rate other restaurants great then I'm going to have to be fair and rate those restaurants that don't meet my standards as well. read more

I went to dinner on a Thursday at 4:30pm. My first impression was good. Nice atmosphere and great menu selection. I had a hard time choosing what to get. I decided on a basic Italian combo of alfredo ziti, lasagna, and chicken parm. I wanted to be safe and enjoy my meal. The dish came out in less than 10 minutes and everything was lukewarm. The cheese wasn't even melted on the appetizer piece of chicken "tender" parm. If I was in different company I would have sent it back to at least be hot while I ate it; but it was a business dinner and we were on a schedule. The other very noticeable problem was that the red sauce was very bland and didn't taste like much of anything. I thought it was because it was cold; but when I ate more of the meal at home it was the same only hot. I've never had such dull lasagna. The ziti was cooked all dente and I liked that and I had some of my guests risotto which was good. I'm new to the area and thought by my first impression that I would be coming back for dinner with my family and friends. After the bad reheat job and tasteless sauce I realized Capellini isn't interested in the quality of what goes out to their customers. I'm guessing they are still in business because of local townies that don't like change. My Dad went to Augustines til they tore the place down cause he loved ice cream and got a kick out of their dessert bar! read more

A very small and friendly atmosphere inside. Has some excellent dishes and one of my favorite Italian restuarants outside of Boston's North End. You can get a large portion of food for an affordable price. Usually very crowded at night on the weekends, reservation is needed. read more
