Tried here tonight for take out. Ordered gnocchi bolognese. At first glance- incredibly disappointed in portion size for the price ($17). Take out container was less than half full for a fresh serving. The gnocchi was mediocre, I ended up just using the bread that came with to soak up the sauce. I love Italian food and capellini's delivers a great meal at a great price. I've been to plenty of Italian restaurants from Boston to Nashua and capellini's ranks as one of my favorites for a casual meal at a great price. Although the tomato sauce seemed a little over cooked the chicken capellini is always on point. The olive oil with seasoning and bread really makes this place stand out. We always look forward to the oil and bread which has great crust and velvet soft inside for maximum oil enjoyment. Food tasted decent. Service was horrible. Our waitress did not give us bread but gave all the other tables some. My daughter wanted ravioli. I asked for no meat on her dish. They gave her meat sauce. Had to get new dish for her. My son ordered cheese ravioli on the adult menu. He had chicken with it. Instead, he was given lasagna. He told them this was the wrong order. They took his dish. They don't take reservations and if your party isn't all together they won't seat you. The salad was gross. The lettuce was bad and slimy. When I said something I got another salad that was just as bad and it wasn't taken off the check. I asked for risotto and I got the wrong one. I was met with attitude when I told the waitress I didn't order the spinach risotto but the cheesy risotto. The food was mediocre at best. In town visiting & decided to try this restaurant- it's delicious! The waitress took great care of me - bringing water & checking in to see if I needed anything else. I started off with the Sicilian calamari- wow, it's so flavorful and a huge portion. I used to love this place. At my last visit on a Monday night, the hostess sat at the next table folding napkins and yelled to the other workers rather than getting up to talk to them. The bad behavior didn't stop there. A person she knew (? another employee) came in with a young child. They proceeded to sit next to us talking loudly, especially to the child who was allowed to roam about and call to his mother from the waiting area. Then there was the food. For 15 dollars I got 3 pieces of asparagus, a thin of chicken 3 inches wide, and risotto. Thank goodness I ate some bread before the meal. We'll look for another restaurant. I find the food here to be average italian fare, not great, not terrible. The service is good, parking is limited and gets crazy. Prices are in the 12-20 range. tables seat 4-6, not good for groups. Beer and wine are kind of expensive for the burbs. read more

Do not waste your time or money. The menu is limited and does not have the expected Italian items. The waitress acted as if we were there to ruin her day. She was short on patience, short on personality, and if she smiled I think I would dropped dead. The food was tasteless, over cooked, and you would tihnk a place named Capellini's would have pasta with seared salmon. NO! Plus no balsamic vinegar. The garlic olive oil was good, very good. The bread was basic white bread and cold. No smiple meat or marinara sauce with pasta. The place was unimpressive and the price was too high. My 9 year old can eat 10 of those by her self. The fried calamari was so over cooked and so small in size. Pathedic, they don't give you oil with your bread anymore to my surprise. But the best part was our waitress; ask for Sue as she is so enthusiastic and friendly that you want to be best friends with her forever! They have made a tons of mistakes in our takeout orders that have been very annoying, whether it has been forgetting to put dressing on the salads , to giving us the wrong order all together. We go here for takeout weekly and for the past 4 months I just refused to order from there because of all the mess ups, and when we order takeout it is never on a busy night. They just are not listening on the phone or being careless. It's disappointing. This use to be our go to for takeout. Decide the last 3 Wks to give them a try again and 2 out of the 3 time they got it wrong. I just don't get it. read more

Please allow me to premise my review by saying that I am giving it 3 stars because it is in the food wasteland that is the Merrimack Valley. If it were in Medford or Somerville, it would be two. Tonight was my second visit to Capellini's. The first time I got the Veal Parm. It was decent. It was pretty boring but not awful either. This time, I got the Italian combo to try to give Capellini's a more well-rounded review. It came with pasta in a alfredo sauce, chicken parm and lasagna. The pasta was okay. The chicken parm was very disappointing. It is supposed to pounded thin, not like a giant thick breast. The lasagna was decent. It was filling and overall done well. My girlfriend had the chicken verona, which was decent as well. She left about 3 quarters of the plate behind which tells you it wasn't exactly delectable. Also, the service is pretty good. The quality of the service is taken away by the clientele. It's a bunch of Bruin jersey wearing, wanna-be tough guys from Billerica who are most likely illiterate; they wear hats at dinner and have phone calls throughout their meal. The Merrimack Valley is a wasteland and this place is good by their standards. read more

Used Capellini's to cater my husband's birthday. Stopped in to the restaurant to plan the menu. Hostess was great and very knowledgeable in determining what to order. The chicken rosario was amazing and gone in the first pass. Everyone raved about it. Same for the ziti with sausage. Pasta with chicken and broccoli was a bit dry but I do not think that this was the fault of the restaurant. When the food was delivered this dish had shifted in transport and much of the sauce was in the bottom of the box. I would definitely use them again and would dine in as well. Great Place to eat in Tewksbury go there often and have never had bad service or food. Small and homey and the waitstaff are very attentive - prefer Tewksbury location to Methuen. You can have to wait a bit on the weekends but park across the street at the old Police Station ( not at Deli King). Take out is fast-fast-fast! read more

Some of the very best Italian food in the area. If your ordering take out look at their party plater menu- you get triple the food and it costs much less than if you order separate entrees. A full platter which includes bead, side and a veggie easily feeds 4-5 or get a half tray for 2-3. The pasta is always excellent but they excel at their chicken dishes. No one could reasonable expect fine dining here. Consider it an alternative to the Olive Gardens of the world. It has a very comfortable feel to it, the menu has all of the dishes you expect from a neighborhood Italian joint, and the service we received was both friendly and flawless. I had my birthday dinner here with some friends and we had a great experience. While you wait for your food they give you really fresh bread with an oil to dip it in, it is so good! Great Italian restaurant! The prices are reasonable and the dishes are delicious. I love their Caesar salad. Many restaurants use only the white romaine hearts for Caesar salad, but for those of us who love the greens, this Caesar salad will not disappoint. I love their fun Casino rolls on Mondays. My fiance and I went to Capellini's a while back. It was a nice little place the food was good but not the best Italian I've had. The atmosphere was nice but it was a little later at night and the waitress who was in her early 20's if that was too busy most of the time talking to friends or checking her phone. I'm used to pan seared salmon being served with just an oil and crispy outer edges. This was served with a sauce and cut into bite sized pieces. The risotto was good. One of our favorite restaurants. You need to be prepared to wait if you go on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday night, but the time is well spent. Authentic Italian food with fresh, quality ingredients. We are not chefs but definite "foodies" who make more reservations than home cooked meals! The bread is fresh and a great start to the meal. This was probably the WORST "Italian" food I've eaten out. The sauce tasted devoid of all flavor and the lasagna was just one giant chunk of cheese. They try to fry about half the stuff on the menu to get some flavor in but really this meal probably cost them $5 to make and cost us $50. It was literally the grossest food I've eaten out.
