Recently had Christmas Day event catered by Capers Catering & Delicatessen. I was unsure of what to order but the owner (and I believe executive Chef) Thomas took the time to work through the menu with me. He recommend the antipasto platter (fantastic, great display), chicken Marsala and sausage and broccoli rabe. Everything was packaged with care, they even put it in the trunk of my car for me! got a toasted sesame bagel with 2 eggs and cream cheese. The total Came out to $7 which is $2 more than My Three Son's Cafe. so I was expecting similar quality at least. However, it was probably the worst bagel I've had in a while. Everything about it was meh and it definitely does not match the $7 price for a bagel. I ate almost half because I thought maybe I had a couple bad bites and wanted to give it a chance and not waste my money but I couldn't get myself to finish such a terrible bagel. Best deli in Westbury! I go here for breakfast and lunch and just used their catering service for the first time. I ordered 4ft. of heros for a fourth of July party. I went in and filled out a form 24 hours before I wanted to pick the food up-it was super easy and quick. Everything was ready on time and the counter person even carried it all to my car. If my stomach could speak it wouldn't be able to right now because it's in a food coma. Whenever I am out on Long Island and in the Westbury area I always hit Capers for the sandwich special of the day. This place is clean, organized and run by some decent Long Island boys. Get them to say "coffee" and "father", and embrace the accents. Plenty of drink choices, salads of all types. They also carry Blueberry Bai. 1 gram of sugar only. They do catering for office parties, religious events, family gatherings. They do it all. Sitting is VERY limited. By that I mean they have 5 stools max. You're not dinning there. You're getting your shit and leaving. This is a take-out place unless a seat is empty. So I went in for a Turkey Club wrap and no one was in line there were about 5 people behind the counter walking back and forth preparing food. No one said I'll be right with you or can I help you. After about 10 mins someone man comes to take my order and I'm watching him make the wrap only has 1 glove on and next thing I see is him rolling my wrap with his bare hand like it's 1952. I said excuse me you have your bare hand on my wrap I don't want it and he lifts 1 hand with the glove and said he was wearing 1 glove. If I could give this place NEGATIVE 5 stars I would. I have never in my life been treated with such disrespect in my life. I work for a company who has split offices one on each side of capers about 2 miles in each directions. Both who employ over 500 people and I will make sure to spread the word of NO ONE ORDER FROM HERE I ordered a salad and on the menu it did not indicate it had onions olives tomatoes or cucumbers it said it had I am highly allergic and called to explain the error the owner git in the phone and told me I am the first person in 10 years to nit be able to read a menu and he will redeliver for FULL PRICE cauE I am the only one who doesn't know how to read their menu. That it clearly says garden salad and I should've known that it meant the above salad with all the fixins plus what the chef salad includes. I'm sorry but that is now how menus work. I am a customer who has been going here for 8+years work for one of the top three auto insurance companies in the Country and as a company we order food and cater food all the time. They have lost a huge account. Not to mention new business as our new office building has just hired around 200 employees. Good thing we have a cafeteria so we can be treated with kindness and people with human decency to fix a small mistake as simple as onions thankfully I saw them and didn't end up in the emergency due to my onion and black olive allergy. Black olives cause me facial and throat swelling and breathing issues. Otherwise, my BEC is always done wrong, the bacon is not well done but soggy and the rolls are so large that it throws off the filling to bread ratio of a delicious breakfast sandwich. Caper's is not a bad lunch or takeout spot. Dining in, not so much as space is limited but you can order online or call ahead. Not that it takes very long for them to prepare your order. At 1pm on a weekday they had 4 deli clerks and one cashier; all of whom were very personable. When in Salisbury we order the signature "Salisbury Special" which is chicken cutlet with bacon, tomato, red onion, and ranch dressing. All sandwiches are avail as a wrap, panini, or hero. I went with the latter. For the size and the generosity of the fillings of their sandwiches, it's a very good value for $7.99. Had I not skipped breakfast I would probably only be able to finish half but my hunger provoked me to finish the whole thing. The chicken was breaded and mildly seasoned but the bites were a bit inconsistent. One bite was nice and juicy and meaty and some others were a little tough and chewy. There was definitely more than one cutlet in the roll. The bacon was plentiful and crispy just the way I like it. The tomato was fresh but there were spots of green where they cut too close to the stem. The onion was a-ok and the bread was pretty fresh. Some cheese would have really set this sandwich over the top but I wanted to try it as is on my first try. I like that they stock boars head meats. I'm interested in trying out some of their other sandwiches but I always want to pop in and see how they do breakfast some time next week. They have some prepped deserts, salads, dried meats, cheese, Italian cookies, and other snacks. The deli itself appeared clean. The tables not so much but I wasn't staying anyway. Got three sandwiches from here while working nearby for the weekend. I'm not from Long Island, I'm from the Lehigh Valley and spend a lot of time in Philadelphia. I know a good sandwich. Caper's delivers exactly that. I phoned in an order, it was ready by the time I got there, 15 minutes. My Godfather sandwich was packed with all my Italian favorites and fresh mozzarella. One of the best deli's on Long Island... after exploring some of my favorite places pages on yelp I realized 1 thing. Most people on this thing only post their negative experiences. Example Elton S lol Any normal person would have politely brought the problem with their order to the attention of an employee instead of running into to yelp to rant. The boys at Capers are the first ones to ensure everyone is happy with their orders and I have never seen a problem with someone politely asking for something to be corrected on their order. I understand Elton S frustration because he/she must have a very hard time talking to people considering the only other review they have is a negative one about the service staff at Mercedes Benz lol. My suggestion to Elton S would be to give Capers a second chance and maybe apologize for calling the employees stupid. Also maybe learn to use a period or comma when writing a review especially when questioning the intelligence of others in the review lol. read more

This place is ok. I came here with my boyfriend for bacon, egg and cheeses. There were tasty but some of the employees could of been more professional. As I was waiting for my food, there were two 16 year old girls who were the cashiers eating in front of the customers. I wrote this in the yelp comments as well. While my regular deli was closed for the Holiday, I tried this Capers Deli. All the food portions were minute, taste was fair, coffee machine stunk! They forgot my home fries one order. I told them the next day. It was like, right , we would never do that! Like the Seinfeld dry cleaning episode. I go around to deli's to try to get free home fries. So my last visit this was going to be. The home fries were in the tin and burnt to a crispy, throw them in the garbage. I wouldn't go back with your money. And I believe in tipping. Spent $14.00 for a $6 Western Omelette and a coffee! That was when they forgot the home fries!! I complained and they were rude! Over home fries! And vindictive because I complained about it! I work in the area but I don't cone here often because there are a 100 other places to eat at. I do occasionally grab breakfast or a sandwich from here. The place is clean and the grilled chicken pannini is very good. Service is friendly and the wait time is average.... about 7 minutes or so. They definitely need more drinks as the selection is pretty lame. Your best bet is to order over the phone and puck uo during lunch time. Not the closest deli to my job, but certainly the best. They deliver, they have really creative eats, and they're friendly. I get a fax and email every morning with their specials and who got picked for a free lunch that day. It's been me AT LEAST 6 times last year, that's great advertising - gimme something for free... . I called this morning and asked how long in advance to cater a lunch - they said a day - but I told them I needed today, in like 3 hours - their answer: Sure! What can we get for you? I fed 25 people a gorgeous cold-cut platter, rolls, macaroni & potato salads and cole slaw, a fixin's platter of lettuce, tomato, onion, olive, pickles, etc... plus all serving utensils and paper goods. Used to love this place but it seems things have changed. The macaroni salad I just purchased was full of vinegar; I had to throw it out. The rice balls where also not like before, the rice was mushy , pasty and stuck together. In my opinion the food has changed. Sad to see how businesses change and not for the better. :( read more
