Let me just start off by saying that I've been going to this place ever since it opened, the owner and his wife and daughter are so sweet! I remember when I turned 16 ( I'm now 21 ) my grandma ordered a pie for my birthday and I opened the box and it spelled " happy 16th birthday " and let me tell you! I do not know how Paul did it! I was so amazed! It was like art! I never seen someone put that on a pizza before. I'm tell you, this pizza place deserves WAY more credit than its getting. The food is great! We had a salad pie from Capio's tonight. It was massive! The pic doesn't do it justice. Salad was good and there was plenty of dressing (on the side). The crust was wonderful. For the first time coming here and second time in Long Island ever, this pizza was amazing. I had a baseball tournament and needed a quick bite to eat before my next game and this was the perfect place to eat. Had a slice of pepperoni and a pinwheel (cheese and pepperoni rolled with dough) both were amazingly delicious. Definitely would go back to this place and try more things. Great food and atmosphere. Super disappointed with our takeout from this place tonight. We just moved to the area and were really looking forward to a reliable italian place...this isn't it. Pros: The entrees come with pasta, salad and bread. The side salad is very tasty and fresh. Cons: The mozzarella sticks tasted underdone...the cheese inside was not melted. The penne ala vodka with grilled chicken, fettuccini alfredo with grilled chicken, and side of meatballs were all pretty flavorless and after adding some salt from home they still left much to be desired. The vodka sauce did not taste anything like any vodka sauce I've ever had...it lacked garlic, that fresh tomato zest flavor, onions, ham, and well... vodka. The alfredo sauce tasted like heavy cream and butter and nothing else...where was the garlic, the parmigiano? The meatballs were dry, the sauce they were in was also quite flavorless. The bread itself was not great either. The grilled chicken had a weird burnt taste to it. I hate to leave such a poor review, maybe they were having an off night, but with so many competitors in the area I doubt I will give them another shot. We opted to have salads, entrees and pizza, and we all were very happy with our choices. The broccoli rabe was a clear favorite. Lately the service is so bad, when you call to place an order they put you on hold (worst hold music ever) then the come back on the line and tell you they were trying to pick up another line so they put you back on hold. Unacceptable customer service in a small business. It's a shame because their business will surely suffer. The food was good, but their service was the best part. Now the food has been bad too. I hate to use a cliche, but this pizzeria is a "hidden gem". I can't speak for anything other than the pizza, but it was delicious. Four stars only because the crust was a little to thin for my taste, but I guess it's their thing, based on other reviews. Cheese was great, sauce as well; crust was thin, not to thin, but thin, but baked perfectly. Not soggy or overly crunchy. I believe the staff is family, all seemed very friendly. Went into Capio's with a ravenous hunger. When I walked in, I was instantly grossed out. The place looks dirty and old but I was hungry so I took a chance on a plain slice and a pinwheel. Not only was the pizza BLAND and utterly tasteless, it was saturated in grease. If there was anyway to package warm stale air, Capio's has mastered it. Owner seems like a cool guy to me. He definitely deserves a 5 star from me. From someone who's Italian and knows good pizza, this guys got it. You can tell good pizza by their regular slice. Guy has a solid regular slice, grandmas is good too. Other entree's are decent, but could get better with fresher ingredients. I can definitely tell that he uses good quality ingredients with his slices. We have ordered from this pizza restaurant for 20 years, as far back as when it was Michaelangelos. Very happy with the pizza's and their entrees were very good, especially the chicken francaise. Then it changed to Capio's, but the food was still very good. We have ordered several dinners in the past month but they were not as up to par as previously. Their chicken francaise was so tough and difficult to chew that we had to dispose of it. We wouldn't even give it to our dogs! So sad to see the quality diminish in this place. We hope the owner takes notice and brings the food back up to the quality he used to have. read more
