After 20 years and lots of money spent at Matt's today they failed BIG TIME!! I had my family over and I ordered A large pizza, 2 chicken cutlet Parmesan and 2 pepperoni rolls and garlic knots !Well over an hour I live 5 minutes away. The delivery guy apologize for looking sideways and smashed. Everything was squished into a pizza delivery bag. Pizza was undercooked ice cold pepperoni rolls were never heated up. They were just put into the box last, but not least my nephew bites into the chicken Parm and a long hair comes out of it Absolutely repulsing. My order was close to $70. I called immediately to express my unhappiness. I have to speak to two young men and then supposedly a manager in the background and he's saying over the two young boys and not himself getting on the phone as a man should Bring me back the stuff and I'll make you a new order. Are you kidding me right now. I threw everything in the garbage at this point it was repulsing. I told him it's in the garbage. He said he needed to see it in order to give me a new order at that point. I told him you'll never hear from me again, this is disgusting and I was hung up on.! I cannot say strongly enough how much you should avoid this place. We had a less than great experience a few weeks back, and I let it slide. But tonight we ordered again through DD, and it all went down hill from there. My order included some modifications, so I added a side order and put in notes that I did NOT want the side, it was just extra money to cover my changes, bc I don't expect anyone to modify an order for free. The restaurant calls to say that "this is too many changes". So I ask if they just need more money to cover it and he says "no, we just want to make it the regular way." Excuse me? Then remove the option to make changes on your menu. I get him to agree to make the order the way I wanted it, if I cancel the order and re place it with TWO sides, so now adding $10 to cover the modifications. Fine, whatever. My Dasher gets there, picks up the order, and then texts me to ask why the amount went from $20 to $10. I inform her that this is bc of the canceled first order, which I had already called her about so she wouldn't be confused looking for an order that didn't exist. She says she understands, and that she'll be here in 15 min. Then her name drops off, and I have a new dasher. He calls me from the parking lot of Matt's to say that she had taken the food before canceling the order, so now it's gone. He's incredibly apologetic. DD calls to tell me they've received the issue, and while they tried to have the store remake it - and pay them for both - the owner refused, and was as rude to them as he was to me. I ended up managing to place a last minute order at a different pizzeria (Pompeii in Rocky Point), again with a kids meal added just to cover the modifications. Pompeii calls me to say ABSOLUTELY not, he's not letting me pay $10 for no more than $5 in changes, and refunds the kids meal, and STILL makes my chicken the way I wanted it. In short? We have been frequenting Matt's often. Definitely once a week, sometimes twice, we enjoy their dinners. Today, my husband went to pick up a few slices for lunch. My husband asked for 2 garlic knots and was told they can only be sold in 6 or 12. Really?? So he opted to get 1 garlic knot slice and 2 regular slices. He said, he would take the lunch special plus the extra slice. The guy at the counter rejected him saying lunch was over - it was 2:15pm!!! This is how you treat a regular customer?? I ordered an eggplant roll and this is what arrived. It is clearly a calzone- loaded with ricotta and mozzarella cheese. When I called to inform them that I received the incorrect item, they questioned me multiple times. The owner/delivery guy called me back 10 minutes later to tell me he will drive back to check it. Never did he say he would bring me the correct item. Another 10 minutes later (now 1 hour after the time of delivery) he shows up, and uses his fingers to pull apart the roll to prove there is a tiny piece of eggplant in it. When I explained that you should not have to dig through an eggplant roll just to find the eggplant, he argued that there is eggplant in it. This was a total joke because you can't find the eggplant unless you completely dig through the excessive amount of ricotta cheese and mozzarella just to find a small bite of eggplant. I feel compelled to write this review after I saw the 1-star rating. While I still lived in the city I came home from spending the weekend at my summer cottage on Long Island and and took a new route home. On our way home we stopped at a pizza place late at night and I remembered that slice of pizza for years but couldn't remember the name of this little gem of a pizza shop or how to find it again. When I moved out East I found this little diamond in the rough again by accident -- and it and it was Matt's! Since living out here I've ordered (for delivery and pick up) several times and I've always been very happy with their pizza. It's simple, nothing fancy or gourmet, and I love the thin, crunchy crust. I usually go for their Neapolitan pie but once I tried their Grandma, which is my second favorite type of pizza. It was basically their regular 18" round pie with cheese directly on the crust and sauce (loads of it -- too much of it) on top of the cheese. No garlic, no basil. I was disappointed so I just wouldn't order it again. Next time I think I'll try their Sicilian... One little tip: If you call for delivery at around 1:00 p.m. the soonest you will get your pizza is about 2:30 -- something about not having a delivery person between 12:00 and 1:00. read more

Delivery was super fast. Pizza is much better than I expected given the location of the shopping center is really only meant for people who live in North Isle. My go to pizza place. Breadcrumbs on the bottom of their pizza give great texture and the pizza is never soggy and doesn't droop when holding it. I've ordered plenty of things from here - mozzarella sticks, pasta dishes, salads, chicken rolls, hero's, cannoli's, etc and the food is always great. I have heard people on Facebook talking about this place so I looked at their site and saw that the pizza looked amazing!! I was in the area so I stopped in. They had pizzas in the case and these were not the pies on their site. They were thin and covered in cornmeal. I decided to just get some sausage and meatballs. I got a dozen meatballs and 8 sausage. I also got a garlic bread with cheese. I can without a doubt say this was the most disgusting food I have ever had. The meatballs are very suspect. They have that texture of frozen but the taste is something they should be ashamed of. The sausage was wrinkled and obviously old and reheated. It was rock hard. The sauce is watery and greasy. The garlic bread was so heavy and I was like wtf is going on. There was a half inch layer of "melted" cheese and it was literally DRIPPING in butter I am assuming. I mean DRIPPING. I WASTED about $38 for literal dog food. This place should also be paid a visit by the health inspector sometime so they can see the employees not wearing a face covering. To all the people that claim this place is epic, you clearly are used to eating at a drive thru. Cannot stress enough how horrible the food was. Solid pizza spot in an area where pizza places are a dime a dozen. The pies are always consistent and the prices are definitely fair. Oh, and the white slice is amazing! What really needs to be noted is the bread crumb coating on the bottom of the pizza. No other pizza place in the area does this, and it really separates Matt's from its competitors. If you're not a fan of it...you probably won't be a fan of Matt's pizza. Matt's pizza has to be my favorite spot for pizza on Long Island. I've gone here countless times and have not had a bad experience. The food is always fresh and hot when you pick it up. Not only is the food delicious but it's also inexpensive. I'm a bit plain Jane when it comes to pizza because I love just a cheese slice and Matt's has the best. Every aspect of this pizza is good; the sauce, the cheese, the crust. The crust to the pizza is nice and crispy with no flour on the bottom! Perfect. If I'm being honest I think the crust is the magic to Matt's Pizza! I also love their Sicilian slices which are made fresh to order. The garlic knots are small but packed with flavor. I also love the pepperoni pinwheel. As far as entrees go they give you more than enough food. One entree may be enough for two people! The entrees come with bread and salad as well. read more

The food is really good - the pizza crust is so unique and crispy - although the bread for the chicken parm hero seemed stale. I did an online order and there were several mixups which resulted in us not getting a couple of items. Would not have been a big deal, except that the person helping my husband when he picked up our order was not very tolerant and insisted our order was a certain way. I know people have bad days but his attitude really wasn't warranted.
