Good pizza and fries when you eat in but they messed up some takeout orders would recommend for dinning in but not for takeout.

Both were very good, especially the Detroit Style Pepperoni cup slice. The cheese crust, the sauce, and pepperoni was delicious. The Ala Vodka slice was really good too. The crust was decent. had a craving for a chicken Parmesan hero and decided to try Donatina since it was close to the gym. I even worked out a little extra so I wouldn't feel guilty about indulging. The hero roll was a fresh, seeded semolina bread--crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The chicken cutlet was generously sized and fried to perfection. The cheese was plentiful, and the sandwich wasn't overloaded with sauce. When I opened the bag and saw the hero, I was pleasantly surprised. At $13, it was a substantial sandwich and a good value. Many restaurants charge similar prices but skimp on the filling, leaving you with little more than a bread sandwich. On my first bite, I immediately noticed the tangy, acidic tomato sauce. While many people enjoy a bright, acidic sauce, it's not my personal preference. I also encountered a chewy bite, likely from the tendon that sometimes runs through a chicken tenderloin. It's the tough white cord-like strip that can occasionally make its way into a sandwich. Overall, I'd rate this sandwich an 8/10 for value but only a 5/10 for flavor. While the portion size and quality of the bread and chicken were impressive, the sauce wasn't to my liking. Unfortunately, I won't be back. read more

I get burrata slice everywhere. Definitely the worst one I've had. Burrata slice had like a cup of milk on it... margarita pie was fine. The server said it's because of the brick oven, The he burrata shouldn't be put in the oven it should be placed on after. So clam pie was here all along and I had no idea! Pro tip: Ask for bacon on it. According to my husband, who grew up here, this use to be a 7-11 or something. The trip down memory lane happens every time we are in the area and I may be mixing the stories up, but what I'm trying to say is Donatina a must visit in an every growing hot spot. Small dining area, but works nonetheless. Menu is incredible. In addition to the clam pie we ordered garlic knots, pizza fries with crumbled sausage, the Detroit and the meatball with the ricotta pie. Beer and wine along with soda are found in the fridge. I had a Pumpking. Also in the fridge you with fine the Cake Boss desserts. You know your girl took home the chocolate cake! The boy loved his cannoli and after we cleaned him up and packed up the rest of the delicious pizza we couldn't finish we headed home. I'm all seriousness, we really enjoyed everything we ordered. The crust was cooked perfectly in the amazing and gorgeous pizza oven which is the focal point for the restaurant. Looking forward to trying more pies for sure! read more

The two young women working last night ignored us when we walked in and sat for ten minutes. When I finally asked if they prefer we sit at the bar she said kitchen closed this is all we have. She did not appear too happy to have us there. I usually have good food and friendly staff at Dona Tina but these two with bad attitudes were miserable people not deserving of a job. read more

Donatina produces some really good Neapolitan with very reasonable prices. There were also a lot of slices with good toppings. We got the caption and pistachio. So unique and tasty. Came to Donatina for the first time during COVID when it was takeout only and was happy to return again to see it in full swing this past weekend. Solid casual pizza spot with indoor and outdoor seating, and a beer and wine list. They're known for their Detroit-style slices which were delicious, but the stand out to me was their grandma pie. Perfectly crispy on the bottom, light and airy on top. I also ventured out to try one of the more inventive pizzas, a chipotle chicken slice. It was flavor heavy for sure, an interesting thing to put on pizza but it kind of works? Service was prompt and friendly. We decided to sit at the counter so we had a view of the pizzas being made in the large wood burning oven. I wish I had been hungrier or came with a bigger party to be able to try more of what they had to offer! Will definitely be back again. read more

New to Patchogue I needed to find good pizza! Yelp brought me here. What a delicious slice of pizza! And the pepperoni is real pepperoni where it "cups." I didn't know this was a thing until recently. The dough itself and the crust had great flavor! I saw they offer it on their menu to add Mike's Hot Honey. I had some at home and added it and it was a delicious marriage of flavors. It was also cheaper than we normally pay for a pie with pepperoni. I finally tried this pIzzaria from seeing on social media and I wanted to try the pepperoni Detroit style pizza and it was simply the best pizza's I have ever tried deep dish wise. I loved the decor and layout of the restaurant. The place is very clean and Kira is very polite and gave me a lemon for the Pelegrino water I got. The cheese pizza pie was good as well. My family had a great experience. I ordered the cheese filled garlic bread but they gave me garlic knots. I didn't mind though. I'll definitely will be coming here to pick up more pizzas from now on. I have past this place multiple times and always assumed it was a quick spot to grab pizza. Until someone told me otherwise and we decided to check it out on a Saturday night for dinner. We LOVED it. We decided to sit and be waited on.our waitress was very nice and kept checking in on us. They had an impressive list of wines and beers. We had the garnley head Pinot noir. Definitely recommend that one. The quality of the food is amazing. The cheese is fresh, the sauce had so much flavor and sweetness. The crust had just enough crisp to it. The brick oven they had did not disappoint in making the pies come out perfect. We had the chili honey wings for an appetizer and while very good they definitely could have used more chili sauce. It tasted more like a honey Buffalo wing. I had the margarita pizza and my fiancé had the meatball ricotta pizza. Both amazing. Make sure to ask for a side of their sauce and mikes hot honey to add to it. Good with or without but definitely worth trying. They also have a bar top area to eat/drink . I was super excited for this place as Neapolitan style places are hard to come by in these neck of the woods. Plus, they have a legitimate wood-fired brick oven. The pizzas were just okay but to be fair, I ordered some usual combinations from the menu; ham and fig pie and the chicken caprese pie. The saltiness of the ham and and sweet fig sort of complimented each other but the honey was a bit too much. It definitely felt sweet than savory, which is an odd flavor when eating pizza. A little less honey there buddy. The chicken caprese tasted like a healthy chicken salad on pizza dough. While I think I understand what they are trying to do with this pizza, a little more spice (salt maybe?) won't hurt. The calamari was disastrous. Spongy and not crunchy and I picked it up immediately after the order was done. Not sure if the fryer was taking a day off that day. Nonna's meatballs were the centerpiece of the meal, which shouldn't be the case for a pizza joint. Incredibly tender and meaty meatballs and the tomato sauce was extremely flavorful. This was an overall okay experience but I'll stick to the more original pies next time and staying away from the $13.00 calamari. read more

We came across this pizzeria on a very rainy April day while driving through Patchogue. We were unfamiliar with the area, but a quick Yelp search led us to Donatina. We didn't have much expectation as we were looking for a quick bite on a Tuesday afternoon. Food 3.5/5: We got multiple different slices -- plain slices, Margherita, Detroit style with mushroom. In total we ordered 5 slices among the 3 of us. This came out to around $20 with tax. We asked for jalapeños and the staff were willing to add them to our slices, however we were hoping that they would be cooked a little bit more into the pizza (see picture below). The mushroom Detroit style pizza is a good size portion, but for some reason it tasted very salty. The margherita tasted very good and it was my favorite among our order. The pizza is good for a casual meal and will definitely warm you up on a rainy day. Service 5/5: very friendly all around. The restaurant wasn't particularly busy when we went on Tuesday afternoon, therefore we got our food in minutes after ordering. The staff were very accommodating to our requests. The crust is pure perfection, its crunchy! Think of a sicilian thickness but not as doughy. From the cheese they used to the sauce, this really is the total pizza package and worthy of the top 5 Long Island pizzas. Detroit style! As soon as I sat down at the bar, a server promptly asked me if I wanted a menu, and boy! was it creative. The Primi Patti (appetizer) menu included Clams Casserole, Pizza Fries and Arancini di Funghi. The main menu was comprised of choices of Neapolitan Pizza, such as Butternut Squash and Speck, Spicy Surf and Turf and Rosemary Ham and Figs. This restaurant certainly has a Greenwich Village vibe. I sat at the bar and ordered a slice topped with mushrooms and caramelized onions that came fresh out of the oven. It was so good!!! There is a wine, beer and soft drink menu, which I did not order from because I wanted nothing to drink. I was not in the mood to imbibe. The crowd is lively, and the service is top notch. Two screen TVs, each one turned to a different channel, were on above the bar. The parking lot is rather small because no more than about 15 spaces were available including those reserved for the handicapped. If you don't fee like making a trek to The City to eat in a Neapolitan restaurant, try Donatina in Patchogue. It is worth the trip! read more

After Newsday gave a glowing review of this cafe, my husband and I took a drive over to visit. First, the young man who makes the pizza is worth the visit alone. He diligently rolled out the dough, tossed it up like a pro, cut it into perfect circles and then added the necessary toppings with great care. He had to put the pizzas into the beautiful wood fired oven, carefully watch several at a time, take them out, cut and then package them quickly. He deserves a raise!! I have been to every Rays pizza in Manhattan. All of them are good, but I still dont know who the original Ray is. So I went to a concert in Patchogue and wandered into Donatina. Cool looking place, everything in order. Clean and inviting, so I ordered a slice. I wanted to like this place, really i did. But, the good part ended after I ordered. Ugh, it felt like someone died and left the pizzzeria to their kids, who promptly ran it to the ground. Some of the worst pizza I ever had, including out of state. This was worse than most frozen pizza, cruise ship style jarred sauce. Doughy, uncooked crust. No big deal, it was only a quick slice. A few months later I go on door dash, and order a Detroit pie from the same place. I would have never done it, and I would have never known it was the same place. My girl pointed it out to me, but I thought the Detroit pie looked really good in the picture. When it came, not only did it taste like crap, but it was very small too. We came home to New York and we got a Detroit style pizza. I must have been crazy. Yeah crazy that I haven't had this before. The pizza I got was AWESOME! We came in on a Friday night (during lent not the best idea) with a party of 8 people. The place was packed. We decided that we would get a drink at the bar and wait for a table. At the bar we ordered a round of drinks. There is a decent selection of craft beers and wines. We actually split up our group with 4 sitting at a table and 4 sitting at the bar. We had the meatball app. It came with 4 meatballs and sauce. Very good. The meatballs were cooking great. Nice and dense. The sauce was a little heavy on the pepper so my kid didn't really like it. We also had to Neapolitan slices with some garlic knots. Great for the picky kid. I had the Detroit style pizza with meatballs and ricotta cheese. It was awesome. Again the sauce was a little menace of the pepper so not great for the kid. But I loved the thickness of the pizza and how crispy it was. We enjoyed everything so much that we ordered a large cheese pie and a dozen knots for lunch the next day. My kid can't get enough pizza when we come home to NY so we are glad we found a good spot. read more
