Had an appointment for A/C service. Went in at 8:15 a.m. Left for two hours. Came back and asked service person what time frame was for car to be done. They said not sure, will check. An hour later my husband walked over to service area and saw our car had not yet been looked at. Service person never informed us of the delay and said it might be another 2-3 hrs. Giving them 1 star is still too much. My wife and I were searching for a car for her to commute to and from school (65 mile round trip). She found what she was looking for at Capital Fords used lot. We knew there would be some things wrong or worn as it was a used car with 114K miles on it. We identified 5 things wrong with it and during the paperwork the dealer said it would be no problem addressing these issues. A week later our appointment time came and we delivered the car for the services. Upon delivery we discovered they were prepared to address only one of the issues, reseal the front glass. After 5 hours of waiting for them to finish the glass a nobody informed us that they would need the car overnight to finish the other issues. They took us to a rental car that they billed us for. 3 days later they finished the second issue they needed the car overnight for. They still have not corrected all of the issues we have with the car but its only small cosmetic items we have chosen to live with. Also upon purchase of the car we told them we would be paying cash for the car so a credit check would not be necessary. I have good credit and didn't want them to ding it with unnecessary credit checks. They ran my credit anyway, not once but 5 times. I am still boiling over this entire episode with Capital Ford. I will never go there again nor will I recommend them to anybody. I will gladly pay a little more in Reno than go through this hell again. read more

Sadly they have no star option. They don't deserve a star at ALL! Horrible customer service after their sale. CROOKS, falsified and back dated warranty after their mechanics improperly install my brakes. They end up falling off FOUR days after our purchase. Their counter offer was.... A bogus warranty, due to them selling my trade in before financing was approved. I wanted my old car back. But they sold it. By law they have to keep your trade in, till financing is approved. So I was stuck in their damaged car that their mechanics ruined. WARRANTY .... Wellsfargo our financing bank is very pleased to be informed that they have not only falsified and back dated a second contact. I have both 1st and 2nd contracts dated for 08/11/15 that clearly shows that CAPITAL FORD wants myself and Wells Fargo to eat the bullet on this car. Trade in value changed, down payment changed, total selling price of car changed, no warranty, then warranty added. Now my car is back in the shop after just having it for a month and half. $3000.00 needed in repairs, and our bogus warranty does not cover it. I was told I would have my car back by this weds it is now Thursday and still my car is at Bill Pearce's BMW of reno because Capital Ford are too incompetent to figure out what's wrong with it. Just got off the phone with a Capital Ford mechanic and was informed they are still waiting on parts and my car back from Bill Pearce's. I instructed him to have Bill Pearce's do the repairs since they can't even install brakes properly. Their response was I don't have choice on who works on my car. I have been without my car for over a week and half and no rental offered. Guess I will see them in small claims court for my trade in and down payment. I will be trading this vehicle in for another after their repairs. Plus I might be able to get out of this nightmare with their big ass mistake of giving me two contracts with one date on them. Recently leased a new Ford Edge at Capital Ford. Excellent experience from start to finish. The staff is really committed to customer service. They were professional and courteous right from the receptionist to the finance manager and everyone in between. They offered a very fair deal and have very nice products. Definitely worth checking this dealership out before you buy or lease somewhere else. Great people to work with who are looking for your long-term business rather than just a "sale at any cost". read more

Sales people are okay (used the Costco program) but the service dept. is crazy bad. Your car's manufacturer's warranty is rendered useless by their service policy. If they "cannot duplicate the issue" or they claim that is the way it is supposed to work, or simply can't find the problem, they charge you for 1 hour of tech time @$125/ hr.. They may give you a break and charge you only a half hour. They claim "somebody has to pay for the tech's time". So when you go in for your first oil change and want them to check three things, you're charged hundreds of dollars because there was no error code in the computer. You either have to be a master mechanic or know the issue is a true FUBAR to risk a warranty question. And it certainly discourages having them look at any issue a second time. read more

I called Capital Ford a couple of months ago to set up an appointment to have my F-150 serviced. I was told to bring it in the next day at 9:00 AM. I got there at 8:45 and was told my appointment was for the next day at 9:00 AM. I was pretty upset as I live south of Gardnerville. The next day I was there 15 minutes before my appointment and was told that they were running a little bit behind and it would be around 11:30 or 12:00 before it was ready. I informed the tech that I had brought a book and would wait for it. At 11:45 I went back to the service area to see how much longer it would be and found the truck was parked out back and hadn't even been touched yet. The tech was in and out of the waiting room several times and never said a word to me. I took the truck to a different facility for service and will not be returning to Capital Ford. I had an appointment and was shoved behind everyone else. I dislike being treated like a non-person, but it won't happen again. read more

The "closer" salesman refused to give me a price for an Expedition, or give me a quote for financing it for 4 years. Instead he said "tell me how much can you pay each month then we'll tell you how many years you'll be paying". What? Really? The service department is never helpful! Poor communication! I have been there 3 times now and every time I leave frustrated. The 1st time was for an oil change and they were trying to say I asked for some $1000 service. Instead of listening to me I had to argue with the service guy for 10 minutes that I was wanting just an oil change. The 2nd time was for a software update recall. They said they would have it done my 5pm and I called to asked about my car at 5:30pm and apparently they were done for some time, just didn't bother to call me when they said they would. The 3rd and last time was for another recall. Went in to drop my car off in the morning, but the service appointment people didn't bother to tell me that they would have my car for at least 2 days. That information is important to know so I said forget it and took my car. I have never been so frustrated with a company. If it weren't for the recalls I didn't plan to go back after the first time. read more

want to be taken to the cleaners????? go to capital fords service department.!!!!! get telephone estimate for repairs on your vehicle and when you pick up your vehicle the repair have grown times five. whats a person to do??? call ford motor company customer service at 1 800 392-3673... go to www.washoelegalservices.org (car repairs) the attorney generals office is always interested. if filing small claims, ask for hard copy of repair order(this is where service advisors makes their notes.) check to see if any alterations to original estimate have been changed. also ask for technicians time card or electronic tracking of your repair order and what time was spent and when,. question what the technician did and what authorization he received from the advisor. subponea the dealer of record, the general manager, the service manager, the service writer and the technician.(the technicans number will appear on repair order) example: you came in for a recall from ford motor company, to your local dealer . the service advisor calls you and says" we think you might have a fuel pump leak". that is call #1 . can we diagnosis the problem?? your response is "how much"????? at that time you can say go ahead or no. if you choose to go ahead, call #2 is the quoted charges for repairs. again yes or no... never sign the repair order if you are unhappy. if you read the fine print, it says that you approve all estimates and approve the charges. you do not need to sign to take your vehicle. always, always ,pay with a credit card....your credit card company is your best adversary, they will represent you.. cash and debit and check will only bring you to all of the above. in this economy there is no excuse for gluttony. beware, be smart... ford motor company can say that this dealership is a private company and they cannot interfere....well, it is their product , their excellence of service. why would you buy a ford product if they do not back you ,the consumer.???? be wise with your money.... my family has been taken advantage of. i hope that this review will help others. read more

I had an appt at 9am. I would have expected work to start at that time especially since all that was needed was a computer diagnosis. At 12:30pm, since I had not heard anything, I went to the counter and spoke with Todd. He provided a breakdown of what he saw on his computer. The information he told me was not what I had asked them to look at. He had no other answers. Finally Anthony, the original person I spoke with, arrived back and ended up providing me with the same answers. They said the diagnosis, that was originally requested, showed nothing. I was told I could pay at the counter and was shown where the truck would be dropped off. After waiting for over 15 minutes I went back inside to see what was taking so long. I was told the mechanic left and had locked my truck keys in his tool box. I was told that he looked for me but could not find me, yet I was at the exact location I was told the truck would be brought too. Then a person came back to tell me that the mechanic was at lunch and I would have to wait a few so they could retrieve the keys. Well that wait turned into 30 minutes. Finally I was told that my truck was ready for pick-up. The mechanic said I needed to pay first, which I responded that I had over an hour ago. I went in for a quick diagnosis which should have taken 15 minutes max and ended up wasting 4+ hours! Nobody knew what was going on, nobody took responsibility and nobody had any answers to why I received such lousy customer service! read more

Terrible sales and service. My truck went bang and the check engine light came on on the summit, I took it to Carson City / Capital Ford for repairs. They got the work done quickly (4 days) which should have been under the 70 month 100k emissions warranty, but they would not release without payment. I asked about trading it in since it was a POS and they wanted several thousand over sticker and wanted to give me 10k under low book for mine. I went to pick it up and asked for the old parts of which none could be found or were available. I paid the bill, picked up the truck and the interior was full of grease, not happy! At the next service, five thousand miles later, the vehicle needed a new EBP sensor and line for which I had been charged and paid for at Carson City, problem is it had never been changed! Cheats and Liars is all I can say and the G.M. is fully aware and part of it! I would not buy or take a bicycle to these guys. read more

I had several items addressed by the service department. I was supposed to get a phone call regarding one specific concern that had to be addressed during service. The service writer or the tech simply ignored the request. When I asked about it my question was disregarded by the service writer who then tried to up sell another 2500.00 in service. The great part of this was no one could answer why the service was needed on a $1000.00 repair item the best they could come up with is it got old not what was wrong with it specifically. Having done much of my own mechanical work in the past this was not an acceptable answer. I responded to a customer service email from the service department and asked to be contacted by the service manager. I waited 2 weeks and then emailed the service manager directly with some concerns and waited another 2 weeks and called the service manager leaving a message with my phone number asking him to call about my service experience. NO CALL. Don't let these jerks work on your car there are plenty of honest independents to choose from. read more

My 2006 Mustang refused to start in September and I had it towed to Ford for a diagnosis and repair. I was told the mass air flow meter was bad and needed to be replaced. Fine enough, I had it replaced. The car ran, but it ran rough and surged badly. I was then told that the throttle body was bad and needed replacement, After waiting for my credit card to clear, I had that replaced. The car still ran badly, with the engine running rough and surging the same as before the throttle body was replaced. I was then told that the power control module was bad. I drove the car home and put it in my garage until I had enough money set aside to pay for that part. I wondered why three engine parts would all go bad at the same time, but thought that perhaps a bad control module had ruined the first two parts which were replaced. A week after I took the car in, I called to see if the car was repaired and was told that there wasn't anything wrong with the power control module. After replacing it and finding that did no good, the mechanic found out that the mass air flow meter that was first installed was bad and after replacing it a second time, the car ran fine. Now I'm left wondering if the original throttle body was really good and I paid for a repair that wasn't needed. Needless to say, I don't want to trust either my Mustang or my F-250 to their mechanics again. I don't want to pay for parts that aren't needed. read more

Horrible! Absolutely horrible! I had the engine swapped out of my truck last summer. They had my truck for a week and I had to call to get updates. I was not kept in the loop by the service writer. When I did get my truck back they tried to charge me an extra 2k! Which was not the agreed price when I dropped it off. And they threatened to not release my truck unless I paid. I got my truck back with a leaking rear main oil seal,leaking water pump and a check engine light on. So when I brought it back to have the leak fixed(I had to bring it back here or it would void my warranty) I called 3 days after I dropped it off and it still wasn't done(4.4hour job according to fords book time). When I asked why the service writer told me they ran out of transmission jacks and the tech couldn't do it. Really!? It's been a week now and I still don't have my truck or heard any word from them. I also do not appreciate their cavalier attitude about how long it has taken them. My time is just as valuable as yours and to have my vehicle for 7 days for a 4hour job is totally unacceptable! How about taking some damn pride in your work! read more
