Been here twice now and I've had a wonderful experience both times. The capital one staff and verve staff are so kind and helpful! It's a great study spot (they also have a reservable study room) or a casual place to chat. If you have a capital one card you also get 50% drinks, which is a nice added perk!

We're not crazy about the location, wish there was one closer. But as a bank, Capital One is phenomenal.

Construction…read morein the area is heavy, and quite a bit of traffic, parking was packed, yet we did find a spot close to the door. Service has changed since last I have been here many years ago. In the past they would bring out a bread basket, as a free appetizer like how some mexican restaurants bring out chips and salsa, however, they dont seem to do that here anymore. Service at the table was mediocre, our waitress took our drink order and on the way over, the waitress was spilling the drinks over the floor on the way to our table. After our waitress took our order, my gf did not get the mayo on the side as she had asked, and after we received our food, our waitress never came around to check on us, didn't refill our drinks or anything. The place was very loud, louder than visiting waffle house. I was trying to have a conversation with my gf sitting just across the table from one another, and we were having to literally yell at one another just to hear what each other were saying. My gf did state that the sandwich she ordered was a big sandwich, and was more than she could finish. Once we were ready to go, our waitress still hadn't been around to check on us. So I had to flag down someone else, to get us some to go boxes, and our check. Low and behold, when I was ready to checkout, the waitress appears out of nowhere, after all this time, I'm guessing because she thought she was going to get a good tip. I'm sorry, waitstaff only get a great tip from me, once and if they perform a great job duty, and this was not the case in this matter. Maybe, better luck next time, maybe Papas needs to hire better waitstaff worth hiring and keeping.

I'd been meaning to ever since they opened about seventy years ago, but just hadn't gotten around to it. I did not realize they were gigantic. I ordered three (sausage/cheese/jalepeno). I figured I might not be back anytime soon, otherwise, one looked like more than enough. I was right: After finishing the first one while driving, I decided to head over to a friend's house to drop the other two off with him. Then something happened that I can't really explain: I started eating another one. I finished it, and wondered if maybe bringing just one to my friend was even worth it. I grabbed a few taco's on the way to his place to make up for the near-empty kolache bag. Problem solved . . . Anyway, these kolaches aren't just big--they're really friggin' good! I have not had better in Houston (nor anywhere else, for that matter). And the people working there were perfectly nice and accomodating. Five stars! It's funny, all the one star reviews, actually . . . Yes, they all contain cheese and pork: They're kolaches, you dummies! Just because this isn't a place that accomodates every single dietary requirement for every single person on the planet doesn't make it a one star establishment. Because of dietary restrictions, my son can't consume a single item from their menu, but I'm not going to get mad because they don't have fucking paleo menu items here. I just don't come here when he's with me. Another problem solved! I don't how you can go through life without cheese, anyway; nothing goes better with whine.

The place is cozy in size similar to Andy's Home Cafe and there is a bar for solo diners to eat at. When you walk in, the first thing you notice is a steam table that serves a lunch special with multiple options. It is not manned all the time because customers may want to order from the menu instead. The prices here are cheap, even less than Frank's or Telwink nearby. My catfish and eggs were $11.99 and it was only $1.50 to add an extra egg. The catfish may have been swai though given how mild it was, but the portions were comparable to the diner competitors. You also have to season the eggs and grits yourself like at other diners. As I was eating, customers started strolling in for lunch. The bad thing about the place is the steep entrance and exit to the parking lot. If you have a low car like mine, you'll definite scrape the bottom no matter what angle you take. So I don't think I will ever return despite the food value here.
