Made an appointment for a small repair and was kept waiting while 4 service people stood around; no one offered to help and no manager in sight. Finally got someone, told them I had a tailgate handle reserved and an appt to have it replaced. THEN was told it would take 1 1/2 HOURS for a 15 minute job. The snotty "service" person told me "I should have been more specific". Needless to say I walk out and will never go back. Yes, I bought my truck there years ago and am looking to buy a new one but they've lost my business. Horrible attitude. read more

If I could give a rating of zero stars I would. I have a leased 2014 Ford Escape with less than 6,000 miles on the odometer. Yesterday I had a flat tire that couldn't be repaired. Discount Tire told me they could get a new tire for me in 3-5 business days, at a price of $149. I didn't realize my car had a tire warranty, which meant I should've been able to get a new tire at any Ford dealer. I had my husband phone this Ford dealer in Santa Fe, thinking they would have access to a matching tire immediately. I was driving around on the do-nut spare, so needed a new tire right away. They were able to get the tire trucked to Santa Fe on the same day, so I headed there to get the new tire. When I got to the "Quick Lane" service area I was "helped" by the department manager. Although my tire was under warranty, so should have been replaced FREE, I was given a royal runaround by the department manager. He knew he had me at a disadvantage and he tried his hardest to cheat me. At first he wanted to charge me $231 for the tire, I protested of course. He finally told me he would sell me the tire for $187, the warranty company would pay $150. There is more to this story and none of it is favorable to this dealer. What is it about car dealerships that makes everyone who works there into liars and cheaters? I did tell the guy that if he had taken care of me properly I would consider getting my next car there, but he had ensured I would never give this Ford dealer more business. Husband had appointment to drive a new Ford Mustang after work. Shows up, the salesman didn't have it out of the showroom for him, couldn't get it started to get it out and when my son mentioned that he was jump starting it wrong and could damage the vehicle, he said "That's why they have Warranties". Very difficult time using online scheduling. Requires a callback from the service department which never came. Had to make repeated calls to make appointment. Paid $130 for an inspection and the technician missed that the right blinker bulb was out. Had to call manager to get it done. No discount offered. Car was not ready when promised. Service assistant knew it was not ready on time and did not called to tell me to delay coming. Waited in service area for someone to acknowledge that I was there. No one did. I finally had to approach someone and ask if I could get my car. Will not come here again. Will not recommend anyone else to come here. Will not buy our new car here. read more

After having a engine replaced in my truck years back I have had nothing but issues with it, I have taken it back several times and every time I go back it seems like it is an issue with them and they try to get out of being responsible for what they did. Just Recently I had a heater hose that was put in my truck that was not even part of the truck itself. I called another Ford dealership and they gave me a diagram of the heater hose that was supposed to be in my vehicle not the one that was placed in my vehicle at time of engine swap. I have had things taken and stripped from my vehicle when I had my engine swapped and Ford never bothered to even replace them. I am very disappointed in the work and management at capital Ford. I will not buy my business trucks there nor will I have my trucks service there again. read more

I told the service writer that my Raptor transmission shifted violently into first gear and locked up the rear wheels, nearly causing me to lose control. The SPEEDOMETER stopped working and the visual display went blank. I pointed out there was a previous recall for exactly this problem, it required a flash of the transmission software (see below), which was performed in 2016 but the problem was back. Here is how the service writer wrote up my issue: "Customer states that at initial startup vehicle will sometimes lose power and one time on highway RPMS went to zero." That is exactly NOT what I said. No power loss, RPMs did not go to zero, they zoomed up. So with these completely incorrect instructions, the tech diagnosed it as it was written with an estimated $1300 in repairs for a purge valve and throttle body. I did the job myself. $350 in parts and about 15 minutes to install. All I wanted was a reflash of the transmission software. So once again Capitol Ford of Santa Fe sent me on my way with an unresolved dangerous situation. Here is the recall: Manufacturer: Ford Motor Company SUMMARY: Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2011-2012 Ford F-150 trucks, 2012 Ford Expedition, Lincoln Navigator, and Ford Mustang vehicles. The affected vehicles are equipped with an automatic transmission that may unexpectedly downshift to first gear, regardless of vehicle speed. CONSEQUENCE: An unexpected downshift into first gear can cause the vehicle to slow down suddenly without warning and the rear tires may slide or lock, increasing the risk of a crash. REMEDY: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the powertrain control module with updated software, free of charge. The recall began on September 19, 2016. My experience at Capitol Ford was not a very good one. I went in for a "rattle" in the drivers door of my 2013 Ford, F-150 Ecoboost, 4x4, as well as new front brakes and a "turning" of the rotors. After (two) trips back for the same problem, and hundreds of dollars later, the brakes still squealed and the door still rattled. Did I mention the "door rattle kit" was $125.00! Perhaps if I didn't live two hours away I might consider taking it in for a third time, but I think not! I'll be going to the Albuquerque Ford dealership for my future services! Its no wonder this dealership has such a low rating and I should have paid more attention to that, my fault. One more thing "appointment times" are a joke! We just purchased our third vehicle from Capitol Ford this week and our sales person was Tony Sena, whom we highly recommend. He worked hard on our behalf to find just the right vehicle with just the right options and at the price we were hoping for. He made himself totally available to us and was always available for questions. When we picked up our new SUV, he spent time explaining all of the new technology and even helped set it all up. We will buy SUV #4 from Tony too! Knowledgeable, trustworthy and a pleasure to work with. read more

This is more about Ford in general but I don't feel the dealership helped me much either. I bought my second Ford Focus in 2013. It was a 2012 Titanium and I loved that car. My mom noticed years ago that the car shuddered when pulling away from a fast stop. It didn't seem like much. I've had my car serviced and some recalls done, one of which had to do with calibrating something to do with the transmission. I told the tech at the time about the issue and his only advice was that sometimes the calibration makes it worse. Last year I might have dealt with it as it was getting worse but my mother had a stroke in a far away state and I had to travel many times and spend a lot of time there. Then I had to go back when she ultimately passed. This was in addition to starting a new job. This past March I needed an oil change and decided to address the issue again. Turns out the clutch was bad. The amount they wanted to fix it was crazy. I was 3 months out of warranty that had been extended for a year as they knew about the fact that Ford put in a rough transmission. Yes they knew it was not a good system and put it in knowingly. I took it to Autocare 2000 and they actually opened it up and found the whole transmission was burnt up. I called the dealership and they would not help me. I called Ford and they would not help me. There's a class action lawsuit that I don't qualify for for some reason. My biggest beef with the dealership is that no one there had my back. Someone could have mentioned to me about the well known issues with the transmission and checked it out while it was still under warranty. I've had other dealerships do as much. AND nothing was noted in the file when I said something about the transmission a few years back. I had to trade my car in and got a measly $4500 for it. They are now selling it for 13,000. I planned on driving that car free of a monthly payment for at least another 3 to 5 years. Now I have a huge car payment. I will never do business there ever again Nor will I ever buy another Ford. read more

I had a squealing noise coming from beneath my car. I drove to Capitol Ford right away and drove right into the service area. I was told that there was a rock wedged in my rotor. I took my car into the service department on 12/6/18 for a factory airbag recall, after trying for two weeks before Thanksgiving to get someone to answer the phone and schedule an appointment. I walked in at 7:30 on the 12/6 and was told my car would be in the shop all day. I was fine with that. I asked if I could get the courtesy vehicle to drive me to work, waited til 9:45 for someone to arrive and shuttle me to work. I never received a call that stated my vehicle was ready, and I continued to call the service department and got no one to answer the phone. I showed up at the shop at 5pm and the was 6 employees standing around as the phone continued to ring off the hook. I have had my vehicle back for about two weeks and now I have to take it back to the service department tomorrow 12/20 to have it looked at for not fixing the airbag recall properly. I have been a loyal customer with Captiol Ford for more then 20 years, this is extremely disappointing. read more

Car broke down about 10 miles south of Santa Fe, and the insurance company says "Oh, there's a Ford dealership about 8 miles away. Since it's a dealership (it was Saturday morning at 8am) they're probably open." I was on mile 500 of a 1000 mile road trip so I just said yeah, whatever. A radiator hose burst. You'd think that would be an easy, relatively inexpensive fix, right? A hose costs maybe $20 and since it's the hose RIGHT ON TOP, you'd think a high estimate would be $75 for labor. Well, those are the prices I'd think, but apparently I'm not on the same level as a Ford dealership. It cost $268. The best part is that 30 miles NORTH of Santa Fe, another hose (one of the ones they claimed to have checked) burst. Now I have no car, because the engine locked up from overheating. Even if you have to spend $100 on a hotel for the weekend, if you break down in Santa Fe DO NOT let this place work on your car. I'm not the first one-star and I guarantee I won't be the last. read more

I want to be up front. I was in town installing some new software at Chalmers Capitol Ford Lincoln and I was paid to do it. I also want to be clear that I am an automotive professional with over 40 years of experience and this is a quality dealership. I'm in and out of dealerships all day. I live and work in LA most of the time but I do this software thing all over the USA. Chalmers has terrific people. Very friendly. They all want to help you. In the car business, we call Santa Fe a one-horse town, meaning there is basically one of each kind of car dealership in town. In towns like that you can have dealerships that don't really care about their customers because they are the only game in town. Chalmers isn't like that. The new software is designed to make the car buying process faster and more transparent. When you combine that with good caring people, it's hard to beat. I also invite you to check my other reviews. My experience with this dealership has not been pleasant. Alfonso claimed he would treat us like family, stating that he's a 'good Christian'. We purchased the used car at the end of business day and had a few things to finish up the next day. The vehicle was advertised as having remote locking but when we went to claim the remote key fob they wanted nothing to do with us stating that it was sold 'as-is' and that they know of a guy who sells fobs at a discount ($300). Then Alfonso claims that his guy, Tony, misplaced the fob but would not hold him responsible for replacing it. They really dropped the ball and I would not recommend this dealership to anyone. Be warned. They are not good Christians and do not treat you like family. They only want your $ and once they have it they do not want anything to do with you. read more

My water pump needed replaced (unfortunately not something I could drive to ABQ to get done) so I naively took it to the Ford dealership in town. The man I dealt with required having my car for 4 days, charged me $141.50 for a diagnostic test when it was blatantly obvious what the issue was, provided an incorrect quote 3 times (as in 8hrs for a 2.6hr job which at $142/hr for labor is insane), and was incredibly unprofessional to the point of harassment. I leased a New 2018 Ford in December of 2018 from Capitol Ford in Santa Fe. I purchased new so I could travel to see my son in Colorado. The car ran nice until June 2020 when it suddenly overheated and left me walking in Albuquerque. I took the vehicle to Capitol Ford in SF and was told that their was a recall and fluid got in the engine and it needs a new short block, and that they have several 2018 escapes that have been taken in that need short block replacements for the same reason. It's been over a mo and I'm told they have several more now that also need replacement engines. I kept being told the parts had not come in. I asked ford to buy out my lease since the car had a catastrophic breakdown, and how can I trust a car to travel that only has 11,000 miles and needs new engine replacement and I keep getting different recalls Ford SF said they couldn't help told me to call Ford motor credit, ford credit told me they cloud not help to call main ford motor credit and ask them to do a buy back. Ford motor Co was not helpful, rude said they couldn't help me basically to bad, it has been very stressful, having to pay for a leased car I don't have. Ford SF makes me call over and over to see what's happening with my broken leased car, I keep being put in dirty loaners and rental cars. Now I'm being told the.l car will be ready next week. Shame on ford for not letting me out of their lease that had catastrophic breakdown, and for the stress that has been caused. I am not usually one to write reviews, let alone a bad or scathing one, but i feel like this one is necessary. To start, I went in with a good friend of mine, as he needed a diagnostic done on the relays for the horn in his car. That diagnostic ended up taking about 4- 4 1/2hours. My friend was patient enough to wait until about the 2 hour mark to start asking questions. Their excuse was that he brought the car in right before the lunch break and that they would "check" on the car. We waited about another 2 hours until somebody finally came to notify us about a quote on the part he would need for his car. While we waited a painstaking almost five hours to get his car back, not one representative or technician came to talk to us, update us or even inform us of what their plan was for the car. The customer service was absolutely horrible and the staff seemed completely apathetic to any of our concerns. They also kept saying they were "very busy" and that's part of what the delay was. I personally witnessed about two of the staff standing around like deer in the headlights with absolutely nothing to do. And, even in that instance, we still received no recognition for help when needed. My friends 2017 Ford Fiesta ST has apparently been "looked at" and "worked on" but we never were given any information of what kind of work was done to the car, except for the fact that the horn needed to be replaced. After all of this absolute negligence of customer service and work ethic, we found out that the hood of my friends car will not latch anymore because it somehow got misaligned during the "diagnostic" that they performed on it. I will not, and my friend will not ever take our vehicles there ever again. They are a very poor excuse for a car/truck dealership of any kind. read more

However they DID NOT tell me about a third needed repair, instead stealthily writing on the invoice rear brakes metal to metal. Worst car repair experience of my life. My car broke down recently and I took it to my local capitol ford. They checked it out and told me it was a broken sensor and told me the repairs would be 700$ and 3 days of work, I agreed and payed up. One WEEK later I finally get the call back that my car is ready, I get a ride and go pick up my car. I did get 2 blocks away from the dealership before my car dies out on me again... I then return the car and tell them the problem still persists. They tell me they will take the car back in and take a look at it again(no apologies). One Week after that I receive the call that my car is ready, I go and pick it up and this time I don't even get to drive off the lot before it dies out again. I walk back to tell them the problem and explain that I will start work soon and I need a vehicle. They take the car back and tell me that there is no available cars for me to borrow(no cars at a dealership huh?) and that they would call me as soon as they did. I started working the week after bumming rides off friends because even though I called daily their response was always the same (none available). I gave up after a week of calling them daily to borrow a car or if my vehicle was ready. One Month after the day I took my car I finally get a call from Capitol Ford this is what they said. "We were unable to find the problem with your car, we can call in the technicians to take a look but that will cost you more money." Again no apologies just trying to extort more money. I declined their offer and asked for my money and vehicle back. Now they tell me they cannot refund me immediately and that I would receive a check in the mail in 2 weeks... So long story short I payed 700 hundred dollars for them to hold my car for an entire month only for them to ask for more money or give up on my car entirely + holding my 700$ for 1 month and a half. It is a complete waste of time and energy to let this place work on your car, I am almost sure the first 2 times they told me it was fixed that they did absolutely nothing to it. If you value your time and vehicle avoid this place like the plague. read more

I am local so I had to have two bad experiences with them before I stopped doing business with them. The first time on a simple tune up the shop manager told me that the engine on my truck was bad and I needed to trade it in before it quit. That was strange because it was running fine and I just took it in because it was time for maintenance. Turned out that in replacing the spark plugs, they broke one and left it like that. I stopped at a ford dealer in T or C where they replaced the broken plug and the truck then started running fine. When I got back to Santa Fe, I went to the manager and got him to reimburse me for the charges from the dealer in T or C. The second nightmare I had with them was with my diesel. An oil pump seal started leaking and they said they had to replace the oil pump. Turns out those engines have two oil pumps and they replaced the pump that was not leaking. I drove from Santa Fe to Huston and back with the leak just as bad as when I took the truck in for repairs. When I got back to Santa Fe, I took the truck back and they replaced the other pump which fixed the leak, but they refused to reimburse me for the good pump that they had replaced which wasn't leaking. I will never darken their door again unless it's for warranty work. read more

My boyfriend and I were moving to California from New York and were driving across country when our car broke down in New Mexico. I called AAA and during the wait looked up nearby Ford dealerships. When I called Capitol, they said they would fit me in late that night or early the next day, even though it was a last minute call. So we detoured to Santa Fe and were called by Capitol first thing the next morning. Unfortunately the worst case scenario happened: dead transmission. And my car was so old that that the price of a new transmission was not worth it. I ended up purchasing a used car at Capitol and I have to say that the service from start to finish was awesome. We also really appreciated the free shuttle service to and from the dealership. Even after everything was said and done, I ended up having to renew my temporary registration twice and Capitol has been great with helping me out. When you're young and not visibly wealthy you don't always get the attentive, friendly, and helpful service that we received from Capitol. It was a worst case scenario but the experience couldn't have gone much better considering the circumstances. read more

I was sold a defective vehicle and was not provided, as required by law, a written report of what had been done to the car so it would appear "new" to my untrained eyes. Ten days after I purchased the car, when I was made aware of the defects, I tried to show them to the GM. He inspected the car and declared there were NO defects. The next morning, I had the car inspected at a licensed body shop, which gave me a written estimate: over $1,000 to repair the defects. When I showed the GM the estimate and asked if he would abide by the law, which states I can reject the car, or if I should file a complaint with the State Attorney's Office, he said I should file a complaint. What arrogance! I was treated like DIRT by everyone at the dealership, especially the GM, my Sales Consultant (so friendly last week, a total jerk this week) and including the showroom receptionist (who ignored me and continued shopping for bracelets from a woman at the side of her desk). BUYERS BEWARE!!! read more

The salesman are sleazy and push additional costs onto the final bill that are unnecessary, and are overall just a displeasure to deal with; I wonder how they function in society. The service department is run by incompetents who do the bare minimum of work while charging excessive amounts. I was told they replaced my fuel pump, only to have the same issues I was having a few months later. Took my car to a reputable Ford dealership where they replaced the fuel tank, fuel pump, sensors, and charcoal filter for a total cost of $0.00 since it was under warranty. Funny how Capital Ford still wanted to charge for labor and "extra parts". Do not ever take your business here, you'd be better off going anywhere else, even one of the used car lots down Cerrillos. read more

My son leased a Ford Fusion from this dealership. Every time he had a mechanical problem with the car it apparently was not covered by the lease so we ended up paying for the repair. We currently have a car that will die every 4-5 minutes and all the dashboard lights come on. Another certified Ford mechanic in town diagnosed it as a faulty fuel pump which should be covered under the lease agreement. After two trips to Capitol Ford they have said both times that there is nothing wrong with the car. Time for a lawyer. read more

My husband and I attempted to purchase a 2018 Ford Raptor from this nasty dealership. We were dealing with a salesman, Eli Levine. We were in contact with him for several weeks discussing multiple Raptors. The first two Raptors weren't what we wanted. Eli contacted my husband on Friday, 5/25, and said that a new Raptor just came in and "it has your name written all over it." We called him back and said "let's make this happen today." Eli proceeded to take all of our financial information and we were ready to make the purchase that afternoon. At this point, the situation became absolutely surreal. Eli called us back and asked for my SS# which I provided. He said he would immediately run our credit and get back to us post haste. Shortly thereafter we got a phone call back from him saying "the dealership won't sell us the Raptor." We called him back and he indicated that this was above his pay grade and that we'd get a call from his sales manager, Richard Salazar. Richard called and proceeded to list two false reasons why he couldn't sell the car to us. First, he said that it is "illegal in New Mexico to sell a car to an out - of state resident." Second, he said that "Ford Motor Financing doesn't finance out-of-state residents." We explained to him that we know that isn't the case as these were outright lies and fabrications. Richard became extremely nervous, started stumbling over his words, and then he said "the owners of the dealership don't want to sell Raptors to out-of-state residents." We couldn't believe our ears. We immediately stated that this is unprofessional, discriminatory and deceitful business practice being undertaken by a Ford dealership. During the conversation, my husband asked for the owner's name such that we could discuss the chain of events. He was told "I'm not providing you the owner's name." He then asked for Richard's last name and position and was told "I'm not giving you my last name." At that point, he just hung up. To add salt to our wounds, we were able to find all names of the individuals related to this dealership on their corporate website. We were shocked at this treatment. Let's keep in mind that we've been dealing with this dealership for several weeks. The salesman pursued us and when we agreed to purchase the vehicle at their asking price (either cash or financed) and no discount of any kind this is what occurred. Also, I must reiterate, that we provided all of our financial information which is obviously extremely personal information to provide to a deceitful dealership. Both my husband and I left messages for Zach Brandt, owner/General Manager of the dealership, to discuss this situation. We hoped that he would "make things right" and sell us the Raptor but we haven't heard a word from him or anyone else. We were lied to; treated unprofessionally; and it's clearly obvious by the way we were treated that this dealership condones lying to its customers and deceitful business practices. We are also making a formal complaint with Ford Motor Corporation. This is my first review as I've never been treated so rudely and unprofessionally. read more

Shopping for a car that had to be ordered. Got prices in Albuquerque then contacted Capitol Ford. The salesman told me that the sales manager wanted to know how much markup the dealer should get. I told him I just wanted his best price to compare to the Albuquerque dealerships and not play games. He said that he would get back to me. Next I received a call from sales manager who offered $100 over invoice. I said that might great but I need to know the price. He then told me he did not know the invoice price and would have to ask the owner and call me back. He would never actually give me a price. I Never received a call back. This dealership acts like it is the1960s the way to sell a car is to play games with buyers to make them think they are getting a deal. I would avoid them at all costs. It is worth the drive to Albuquerque to deal with dealerships that will actually give you a price when asked. read more
