It has what you need. Overall, the customer service at the majority of these places is close to none, especially at Victoria Secret, Kohls, and Ulta. You feel like you want to get in and then get out. The stores were fairly empty when I went after work and the place feels depressing. I always go back to this mall hoping that it will magically get better but it never does. There are a handful of halfway decent stores but it still just sucks in general. For example the Wet Seal and Victoria's Secret stores in Capitola are worse then the locations in other malls. This pattern is the same with macy*s and every other half decent store. They just added a Coach store but I am not a fan of Coach and If I wanted a purse from there I would go to the outlets in Gilroy. The only decent stores are Victoria's Secret, Wet Seal, Macy*s, Hot Topic, Abercrombie & Fitch, American Eagle, Claire's, Border's Express, Zumiez, and PacSun. I don't normally shop at these stores too much but living in Santa Cruz county you get desperate for halfway decent shopping. This mall can have strange odors and I will not eat in the food court. The best bathroom is in Starbucks. Outside of Abercrombie & Fitch smells extremely strong and can give you a headache. I got a migraine from being in there too long once. Also the kiosks will harass you so be careful walking by them when you go through the mall. This mall is begging for a makeover from Westfield!!! Honestly if you live in South County you should just drive to Salinas to The Northridge Mall, and if you live in the North County just drive to the Valley Fair Mall in San Jose. You will be much more satisfied with your shopping experiences. read more

I have very little complaints about my local mall. Its rarely over crowed, always seems clean. I like it.

No matter what you think of this place you can at least say it has parking. Try finding a spot at Valley Fair or Oakridge on the weekend or during the Christmas season. Good luck! So the stores aren't as great as SJ or SF but I can find all my Christmas gifts here. read more

We live in Boulder Creek and when we need to go to a mall this is the one we go to. I am a regular shopper at Christopher & Banks, Gymboree, Journey, Kohl's, and Sears, as well as others. I love having a local place that I can buy Doc Martens (Journey), look at some cloths (Christopher & Banks does a wonderful job at making feel like a worthy customer), maybe pick something up for the kids, and have a snack before going home. It's not the largest mall and that is fine with me. read more

This mall is pretty small (although bigger than both the malls is Stockton and they have better stores!). This mall has all of the stores that my kids like: Macy's, Hot Topic, Spencers, Claires, Wet Seal, Sheikh Shoes, No Fear, Express, Journeys, Pac Sun, etc. The food court is small and although they have a good variety of food, nothing that we had was very appetizing. Word of warning about parking, there are quite a few car break ins here. EVEN if you have nothing in your car.... NO matter how tempting the parking garage may be, do not do it. The fountain, it smells. Like the water in your (clean)toilet, not real pleasant. This is the closet and only mall in the area, I wish they would do something cool with it! Good healthy food in the food court instead of the kind that makes my stomach hurt, maybe some interesting shops, kids classes, locally made things. I grew up near here and this mall seemed BIG until I moved up to the Bay. Because I lived nearby, I worked here in high school so I've seen this mall go through up's and down's. I watched the Mervyn's and Gottschalks leave. It's sad that the big department stores can't even make it here. Hopefully, the Macy's will stay and Target is coming in... Like the other reviewers said, it's depressing. The up-side: I ALWAYS find good deals here at some of the decent stores. Don't ever buy an appliance from Sears!! They were an hour late delivering the refrigerator we bought, when they did deliver it said they couldn't set it up because of a little valve that they couldn't turn to shut the water off and made us call a plumber out. They said they would come back out to get the old refrigerator after the plumber left but when we called them to come get it they said it would have to wait until Monday. So now the new refrigerator is sitting in the dinning room waiting to be installed oh and the plumber only had to spray WD40 on the valve and charged 154.00. Sears didn't care and were so rude!! read more

Since shopping in SC is pretty limited beggars can't be choosers and the mall is 100% a great place for the last minute crap you need! It may not be the biggest mall but they have the basics and it is fairly well up kept and clean. Most the store fronts are filled which is nice, nothing worse then a mall that's half dead. Overall they have a decent selection and its is always great in a pinch when you need a last minute item. If you are very picky its probably worth the trip to San Jose but overall its a nice way to help support working locals. read more

We've been going to this mall for many years, and it is still as great as ever. They have a lot of different stores for shopping, and we always buy something everytime we leave the mall. I especially love their Hot Topic store as they have a lot of Doctor Who stuff, and I am a major Whovian. The mall itself is large and relatively clean, and they have really pretty Christmas decorations throughout the whole mall when the holidays roll around. Their food court has some great food stalls, especially the Korean Barbeque, where we always buy soup every time we go. They also have great promotional sales during Memorial day weekend and etc, so that's a plus as well. Overall, this mall is great, and we will always come back. read more

This is about the Mall itself. I watched the thing get built, so I know a bit about it from past experiences. The other day I was in there looking at cell phones and plans. For some reason I walked up to where the food court is. At the end of the long central corridor where it opens to Macy's and Target there is a long pale wooden bench. On the bench was a young man in just a t-shirt talking on his phone and holding a store receipt. To my right was a security guard about 2 feet from the bench glaring at the young man. That the man happened to be black and the guard Hispanic, I was, unfortunately, reminded of what's all over the news. This is how people get killed when situations escalate. It was so sad and humiliating for everyone. I don't know why any of it was going on but it should not have been happening at all. If the guard had reason to confront the man, then he should have done so. To stand there glaring like a fool was what bothered me the most. The man on the phone was doing a fine job ignoring the guard, but the whole thing was disturbing. Again, I don't know what the circumstances were, but I doubt I'll ever get rid of that image. Nor will I be going back to that moribund mall again. It needs all the shoppers it can get. Allowing this nonsense to occur is ridiculous. read more

Crazy traffic getting into the mall but it really does have some good stores.

This mall is fine, pretty small though. My problem is more with the kiosk stands though. I bought a hair straightener from the "Hair Styler". Its a fine straightener, but not a good price. They were trying to charge me 100 dollars saying that today is the only day I could get 70% off. I ended up buying it, however when I got home I looked online and saw it for 58.00 dollars. I was furious at myself. So I grabbed my receipt and what do you know, it says NO REFUNDS! So I called them seeing if they could help me with anything because for one thing, they didn't tell me that there was no refunds and for two I fell for the conman! The people were so rude and were telling me that I just didn't understand and I should have asked if there were refunds. In the end it is my fault, I shouldn't have been so stupid. But they shouldn't con people and lie to them about the price and then say NO REFUNDS. (they were telling me it was some 300 dollar straightener) It should be a law that if there aren't refunds they need to specify. All in all, NEVER buy a straightener from there because they are assholes and they do not allow refunds. read more

I'm so sad to hear this mall is struggling. I lived at Clares and Wharf rd. when the mall (and those apts,!) were new...about '78? My friends (Heidi Skewis and Lynaya (sp?) used to rock our Kryptonics all over Capitola. Incl the mall. Oh, I'd love to have those skates today! I think I could still get a pair! This mall is like others have said... a ghost town. The only reason we come here is because of Target, the Discovery Museum, and occasionally the Soft Play Area. This review is actually for the soft play area. SOFT PLAY AREA: This is a cute little play structure that consists of soft plastic coated foam sea creatures that young children can play on. It's carpeted, has mirrors, a slide, and a wall activity. It's a great place to let your kids play and blow off some steam. The main problem I have with it is how crowded it gets and the ages of kids that play there. I think it's like 6 or 7 and under? That's waaaay too old. Due to the size of the space and play structure I think 4 or 5 should be the max. My son is 1.5 years old and most of the time I'm worried he's going to be trampled by older kids playing too rough. I see a lot of parents on their phones, zoned out, not monitoring their rambunctious children who end up dominating the whole area. Just today there were 3 very energetic girls running around like crazy, crashing into younger kids, while their mom (or guardian) was watching her 6 month old and talking on the phone. One mother ended up leaving after her child got hurt because of these girls. This is completely not OK and I see this happen all the time. Parents, please watch your kids! I am finding that way too many parents don't have a good grip on their kid's behavior and don't follow through on their discipline. I get that you want a break, but don't subject other people to your poorly behaved kid! read more

This mall is okay. It has all the stores you need and you can usually find what you need even though it is small. The think I don't like about it is all those vendors selling things in the middle of the mall in those carts. They are not stores they are just carts and the vendors are so annoying! The vendors seem like they should be working at an outdoor latin market, they chase you down wanting you to try their make up and lotions. They ruin the mall experience! read more

Went to the place cause we came a little too early to the beach. Overall, i wouldn't mind shopping here. They have all the things you need to get your shopping done. This mall is TINY and the ONLY one is S.C county! I honestly suggest either moving it to a MUCH larger location, and adding at least 50 more stores, or adding UP a level and adding 50 stores! There ARE some good stores here : Coach, Express, Victoria's Secret and A&F. Your usual stores, but recently they have added "styles for less" etc. I shop here when I can't make it anywhere else. Too bad S.C is such a hippie town they probably wouldn't allow the mall to expand! read more

I thought this mall had very limited popular stores although I did find some good deals at Pacsun! At malls in unpopular areas, I can usually find better deals since stores go out of business. At Pacsun, there was buy one get three free which I was happy about! The mall is kinda dark and a little bit sketchy to be honest. A lot of the stores carry old products, possibly discontinued?! The Target connected to the mall was so messy and unorganized. It could be because of the holidays. I wouldn't recommend coming to this mall. read more

"Pac Sun" In the past we have had decent customer service here. On Monday night, we were provided with disgusting customer service. It appears that this particular Pac Sun employee missed the customer service/good ethics training. She didn't know how to address customers that where at Pac Sun to return items. Just read the back of the receipt your store provides with every purchase. Returning items is every customers given right... if their not fully satisfied with the product. There is no need to disregard the customer because they aren't boosting your commission or sales. Talking about what you plan to do on your days off, is not really what a customer wishes to hear. Or the fact that you need to lose a few extra pounds to squeeze into those shorts... you've had your eye on for a while. Here's a hint for better customer service... give the customer your undivided attention while they are in your store. Discuss your private matters on your own time, not company time. read more

I'm gonna go ahead and be that guy, right now.. I, stopped at the PacSun at the Capitola Mall and behind the counter was the most sleezy, not to mention shitty salesman I've ever dealt with. For one the store is closing so they are having a buy one get two free sale on the whole store. So after searching to see if there was possibly anything in there that I might want to purchase, i came to the conclusion that all of their items were crap. So as I'm walking out, the sleeze behind the counter hollers at me, to attempt to sell me vans...vans... so I proceeded to let him know that I was good. I don't need anything. He then replied by telling me I should buy gifts for other people. I told him I have no one that I need to buy gifts for. He then said, and I quote "that's your problem, you need to be a nicer person". I then replied with "you have the problem bud. The Capitola Mall has been around since I was a kid, and back then are you think it was really hip. It's a small mall and that's okay. There are a few unique and interesting shops in there. I love the parking lots because they're full of beautiful trees and blooming flowers, the company that owns the mall does a great job with that. What I don't like is the lack of selection in the mean stores like Macy's. It's one of the worst Macy's I've been to. They just don't have a lot of stuff, especially classy stuff. I also miss the old food court, and the food that was in there. Maybe some of that's just Nostalgia. I don't like any of the restaurants that are there now. Another thing that's changed since I was younger is that there are way more kiosks with obnoxious on commission sales people who harass you to try their head massagers, jewelry, mineral makeup, and other weird stuff. As an adult with limited funds, I find myself mostly avoiding the mall, which used to be such an important part of my life. I don't like getting hassled, I don't like the prices, I don't like the selection. If I want an atmospheric shopping experience with interesting stuff I go downtown and if I want a good deal I have other sources. :). At least this mall doesn't give off the pretentious "shopping is my life" vibe of malls over the hill. read more

I took my 6 week old grandson and 5 year old granddaughter to visit Santa on Dec 23, 2013. We were told after 30 minutes that the computer was down and it would be 15-20 minutes. I asked were Santa was, couldn't the children see him. "Santa can't come back until the Camera is fixed" the ELF told us. I asked why Santa can't be here to see the children who just wanted to see him. "It's policy" said the ELF. 1 Hour later "It will be another 30 minutes" said the ELF. Now an hour and a half I ask why can't Santa come out and see these children? "Policy" said the ELF. Now I (Grandma) am mad. "Well" said the ELF, "We can call you when the Camera is fixed". My poor Daughter is so upset because she wants her newborn to have his first picture with Santa. All the disappointed children have been so well behaved I climbed over the rope, took the candy canes of "Santa's" sofa and distributed them to the children. No "ELF" bothered. When we left I told the gentleman this,"Sir, Christmas is about children visiting Santa and telling him there wishes. He never said the child had to pay for a picture first. Try and remember that the next time you capitalize on Santa." I will not be taking my grandchildren there again. We will go elsewhere.
