I had been to this place before and had a pretty good experience, so I convinced my friends to walk a mile to try it out. Once we got there they asked if we had reservations and when we said no they pointed us to a really long line. We asked if we could use the restroom while we were waiting (the line was at least an hour) and they were very condescending and laughed at us and said no. (They were two males laughing at a group of women.) The drinks are fun and the food is good, but the condescension of the staff isn't worth it. read more

Loveeeee their food, they have homemade pasta which is rlly great. They usually do seasonal specials which have all been rlly great. Pizza is stellar too. The drinks are great as well - they have a few spritz cocktails on the menu that are all good. On busier days, it can get a bit loud but not overwhelming. I came here the other day after hearing good things about Capo and I would say overall it lived up to the hype, so kudos to them! Our waitress made drink recommendations that we really liked. The food tasted good (but wasn't anything special) and even though the portions seemed small to me, the prices were decent. This was awesome! I've been to Capo many times, but never downstairs. The food was great as always and our server was wonderful. Management was extremely accommodating-- normally their policy is to not let anyone under 21 downstairs, totally understandable as it can get fun at night. I went with my daughter for the Taylor swift brunch. I was unaware of the policy and my daughter was pretty disappointed, again my fault for bringing her there and not knowing the policy. We left and then 15 minutes later I got a call from the wonderful hostess-- she spoke to her manager and since it was the day time they let me bring my daughter down for the Taylor Swift brunch. Went here last night for my birthday and it couldn't have been a more perfect dinner. We got the meat and cheese plate which had the biggest pile of prosciutto I've ever seen. Also got the lobster gnocchi, puréed potato, and clam pasta, all of which were delicious. Our server was incredibly kind--honestly some of the best service I have had EVER in Boston. He even brought out some cannoli with a candle! 10/10 birthday dinner, will probably return next year because it was really just that good. If you're debating going, just go. I don't spend too much time in South Boston getting Italian food but this place was ok. The staff was friendly which was great and we were able to be seated immediately. The prices on the menu seemed reasonable for the type of food now this could depend on your personal palate but I wouldn't get the margarita pizza again. There wasn't any big issues with it other than the taste wasn't as I expected. I feel like when I was eating it it was just missing something and I did not know what that was. It's hard to explain but if you go here and try it you'll see what I mean. The bottom was a little burnt but it is brick oven or seemed like it so that's fine. The bruschetta was pretty good actually I did like that. I would definitely give this place another try and maybe try one of the pasta dishes. But from the pizza perspective I'd pass. read more

I ordered takeout last night and picked up the order myself. I ordered Chicken Cesar salad - no chicken and no salad dressing. Chicken parmigiana & Eggplant parmigiana dinners. Asked for extra sauce for both, paid for it and no sauce. The chicken and eggplant were tough, like it was heated in a microwave too long. The pasta was clumped together and chewy like it had been sitting in a fridge for awhile and then heated up in a microwave as well. The order cost $91 and we were very disappointed. The whole restaurant goes completely GLUTEN FREE on Tuesdays! And it's still absolutely delicious!! For drinks we tried the sangria and the limoncello splash. Both were a well-crafted balance of flavor. We shared the classics: spaghetti and meatballs and chicken Parmesan. It was enough food for dinner and leftovers for the three of us! For dessert we couldn't decide and got cannolis, torta di chocolate and limoncello mouse. All of them were excellent treats, big enough to share. Came here Saturday night for a 7:30 reservation with two friends. Ambiance: The ambiance here is really great. A really young and upbeat crowd, dim lighting, and good space on the tables. The bar area was really popping and there is a club downstairs but I never made it there. Great for a large group of friends, date night, or just a fun dinner where you don't necessarily need to go out after Food + Drink: To drink I got the Figurati which was pear ,lemon, and elderflower. I love a hand craft cocktail but this one fell short and just tasted of a lot of syrup. One of those drinks where your like "yikes, this is a hangover waiting to happen." I would suggest a mid range wine as those seemed better. We split the garlic bread and I got a pizza and both were delicious. Also really need to shoutout their complimentary bread as it was the best I had in a really long time. Staff: I really enjoyed the staff. Everyone from the bouncer (yes there was a bouncer outside at 7:00pm) to our waitress were all really happy and kind while being super attentive! I've always loved salty foods - olives, sardines, you name it. I have several different kinds of salt from your basic Morton's iodized to pink Himalayan sea salt. I often am criticized for using TOO much salt (I only added it to my ramen noodles once...) okay so where am I going here? This place is great but my lord is their food SALTY. It is doused with salt in an unappetizing way. Hey Capo, please consider lessening the salt quantity and I think the dining experience will benefit. (Also, to anyone reading this it you get the Cacio and Pepe, do NOT add any salt, I only have myself to blame for that one.) Your waiters are excellent and the service is superb. I've eaten here many times and have always thought the food is great. That's up to last night. I ordered Chicken Picatta from Uber Eats. The delivery was prompt so that's not to blame. The Picatta was soooo buttery it felt like i was just eating melted butter. I put half in the fridge and this am it is totally gross. Just a solid block of butter. No flavor of white wine or lemon. Just butter and a ton of large capers. I have to believe that this was the work of someone that doesn't normally cook. Absolutely horrible. Felt like crap after eating about 25% of it too. Hopefully you watch what goes out the door more in the future and if this is your recipe I suggest more white wine and lemon and about 3 sticks less butter! read more

Capo has great Italian food. I'd recommend splitting a jug of wine if you and your party plan on having more than one glass. They used to have the option to do half order sizes but now every pasta dish is around $25. The ambiance is awesome on the first floor, especially when the fireplace is going. Capo is sleek, trendy, and spacious, which makes it a most-go for young residents in the area. I came here for brunch today with my eyes specifically on the tiramisu pancakes ($10). What I got was just ok, not bad but not great either. My pancakes tasted a little mushy, possibly undercooked? I do think the espresso syrup they came with was a nice touch. We also got a bottle of Prosecco with an assortment of juices for the table ($45). Juice serving was on the small side. I'd definitely be willing to come back to give lunch or dinner a try! O Capo, how I wish I liked you more! Food 3 stars, service 4 stars, total 3.5 stars. (I also wish Yelp would let us give half stars!!!) A group of us came for dinner. When we arrived early evening, only a few tables were occupied. But after spending about 2.5 hours there, the place was packed, on a weeknight. The restaurant is one huge spacious rectangle, with 2 large, impressive bars (makes me want to drink) and a gelato station in the front. The lighting is a bit dim, which makes it difficult to read the menu. The open kitchen sits in one of the rear corners. And at the back of the room, there's a fireplace, which I hear is fully functional and roaring during the winter. There is also a basement level for their dinner shows on specific days of the week. Once we sat down, our server Emily was very professional, friendly and accommodating. I had ordered a glass of wine. The wine steward let me taste a little bit. Luckily, she did because I did not like the one I chose. She was more than willing to let me choose another. Kudos! A basket of bread started the meal, with olive oil dip. Then for appetizers, we had a round of pizzas, listed in order of my preference. The pizza crust is very good, thin and crispy. The pepperoni had traditional tomato sauce but the overall taste was lacking. The steak pizza was basically mashed potatoes on the crust with few pieces of beef on top. Interesting but kind of weird on a pizza. In the mushroom was Fontina cheese which added a little bit of creaminess but all the mushrooms were tasteless. We also got a Margherita but I did not partake. Now onto the entrees. We ordered eggplant parmagiana, rigatoni bolognese, sausage carvatelli, chicken alfredo, and seared scallops. The eggplant was a thin flat piece instead of layers. It was alright, nothing special, and it came with a pasta marinara. The rigatoni bolognese had some meat taste but not much. The sausage carvatelli just did not do anything for me. I also don't like my sausage all minced up; I prefer chunks for flavor. The alfredo was actually pretty good; it just needed more sauce to make it shine. The yummy seared scallops came with a pesto risotto. Scallops thumbs up, risotto meh. One small issue I had was with the bussers trying to clear the dishes when there's still food on them. Ask, then clear. Not the other way around. Although the restaurant looks good, especially the two huge bars, the whole restaurant is noisy. It is so loud that I have a hard time hearing the person sitting right next to me. Maybe I'll come back another time and just order some drinks, which I hope taste better than the food. read more

Go for the show the music is on Point! The food is second to the show. My husband and I celebrated our anniversary there, as we had a rat pack style formal wedding. Naturally this was a great fit to our theme. We had reservations and were walked down to a good table near the stage. We looked at the menu and ordered quickly. I had the clams as my dinner, and a side of polenta. My husband ordered the bolongnese. They brought out the bread basket, and since carbs are my soul mate I dug right in... and that's when my husband an I both decided it was the worst bread we had ever had. It was stone cold, with a tomato grilled on top that was slimy. Sadly, because I'm a carb person I was disappointed. We ordered the garlic bread that was $6 instead. My clams came out, and they were tasty. The broth was delish, and they were fresh as can be. The polenta is more of a soup consistency and because I grew up with polenta as my staple starch I was confused with its appearance. It wasn't bad, but I wouldn't order it again. My husbands pasta was good, but it wasn't great. Overall the meal was just so so. I would absolutely go again, and I will... I'll just remember it's all about the show and not the food. read more

I've never left a review on anything before. Firstly, let's talk about the pizza. Now, I'm not a pizza snob, but this pie was a real disappointment. The crust was as dry as the Sahara and the toppings were as flavorless as cardboard. But let's focus on the real culprit here - the sauce. It was so blatantly store-bought that I wouldn't be surprised if they just dumped a jar of Ragu on top of the crust. I'm pretty sure I could've made a better sauce with ketchup and sugar. Came to see a local comedian we had heard a lot about. Let me say this 1st- the comedy aspect was 100%. The lineup was 10/10. HOWEVER service was extremely slow. We sat 20min without being greeted. By the time we were greeted we were able to put drinks in right away but that again took another 20min. Food was ok, wasn't anything to gawk at. Honestly was more appalled at the service and that the one manager on downstairs was just sitting and watching without helping. I mean if she can't bartend than whatever- at least help pour waters.
