Went to Capo Restaurant after a long day just wanting a solid meal. Upstairs was full so we got seated in the supper club downstairs. Cool atmosphere, but definitely very loud not really a place for conversation during the live band. We all got the chicken parm. Portions were big, which was great, but the food wasn't very warm and cooled down fast. Same with the bread - good, but not warm, and also not complimentary. I've had the chicken parm here before during lunch and liked it more then, so I think Saturday dinner service was just extra busy. Due to an administrative error, the restaurant had messed up our reservation and not communicated it well to us. However, Jeff and the rest of the staff were absolutely lovely and apologetic, and did a great job to make up for it. The food was amazing, and the drinks were great too. We ended up being sat downstairs during bingo night, so it was loud and dark, but I would imagine the upstairs dining area is nicer. I was skeptical as the Yelp reviews don't reflect Capo in the best light...but you know what? I had a generally great experience. We came for Wednesday night bingo in the supper club. Bingo was a total blast (even though I didn't come close to winning--not even once). On Wednesdays they also do bottomless pasta...which allegedly is only allowed upstairs. So I had chicken piccata and my bf had bottomless pasta (hope no one gets in trouble) The portion of chicken piccata was large and it was delicious. I would 100% come back for the chicken piccata. I obviously tasted each of the pastas my bf ordered. The pasta itself is homemade and fabulous. Some of the sauces were over seasoned. Overall, a great way to try a little of everything and a great deal. I used to go to Olive Garden in college for the never ending pasta bowl and this feels like the grownup version. The service was extremely slow. But we were playing bingo (which started late). It goes to show that if you offer the proper distraction, certain service factors become less important! So pleasantly surprised with Capo! I've know Capo for being a fun bar to go out at, but this is the first time I've been able to try the food. As a sister restaurant to Prima I had high expectations and it definitely met those expectations. We tried three apps the calamari, honeybuns, and Arancini. They were all very good, a must is the arancini and the honeybuns they were delish. The Calamari breading was fantastic but the calamari itself was a little chewy. Our mains were all very good I had the salmon and it was such a unique flavor I really loved it. The penne al la vodka was also excellent one of the best I've had in boston, top it with Burrata. The chicken Marsala was huge, it was delish, but I definitely don't think you need pasta with it, it didn't really add anything. Overall great dinner! read more

We also got a side of carrots and beets which were seasoned well and cooked to the perfect texture. It is a bit tight in there, especially if you are closer to the front, but it's a very lively space. You Definitely get a experience depending on the time of day you go, for example us on a Saturday night and it was packed line out the door filled your typical southie resident. To the service, waitress was super kind warning us food was taking a bit long that night, but there was hardly a noticeable delay in anything. Drinks at the table were a hit especially the espresso martinis. Garlic bread was great just wish had a second portion, and the calimari tasted fresh, interested fry to it but we all liked it. Buono! A beautiful Italian restaurant in Southie. Whoever designed this place did an excellent job with the mosaic tile floors, light fixtures and wood work to give it a modern "Al Capone era" vibe. My husband and I came here for an early dinner with friends. We started with calamari and meatballs. The calamari was fried in a very unique batter that I was not a fan of but everyone else at the table liked it. But I was a fan of the meatballs; large, soft and swimming in a delicious sauce! For my entree, I ordered the cacio e pepe. I always prefer long pasta over short, but this one was great regardless. My only complaint is I wish the portion size was bigger as I licked my plate clean! My husband ordered a pasta dish with something called "Sunday gravy" and it was phenomenal! Well. What a monumental failure tonight at Capo restaurant from our 5 star experience recently at their downstairs Supper Club. It was that experience that led me to suggest that we should dine upstairs to enjoy the same fine dining. The atmosphere was great. Lots of seating possibilities... we asked for a booth that had a table that didn't move, so we both narrowly slid in and just barely made it. Our waitress (Erin B) was quick to greet us and my wife had a chance to chat with the GM (Mike) prior to our ordering as she had met him at the Supper Club event a few Sundays ago. For a beverage, I ordered an Old Fashioned and my wife wanted a double Espresso. Decent, not great. My wife wanted to try some apps so she ordered two different from our last trip. Arancini and Chicken croquettes. Nicely presented but overcooked and not very hot upon arrival. Hmmm. So, they are known, and we were very much looking forward to the homemade pasta all made in house. Erin returned to take our Entree order. My wife (Italian) ordered "Clam scampi over linguine" and I spotted a new item we were told, a broiled Duck Breast with carrots, broiled potatoes and beets along with a side of pasta (spaghetti) with a butter sauce. Felt like a solid set of choices. As folks started arriving at 6-6:30, my wife mentioned that "doesn't it feel like a while since we ordered". I had my iPhone on the table taking pictures and noticed it was 25 minutes since we ordered. I was feeling like a Red Flag might be at work and caught Erin to check on our order. Within minutes later the food arrived. My wife started and I looked at my plate and the side order of pasta and everything was not hot, not warm and, the butter had solidified on my pasta. The duck was sliced poorly, but room temperature along with the pasta. Erin saw that I was having an issue and quickly offered to take it back in the kitchen for a fix. While I waited, my wife noted that hers was barely lukewarm but she continued. Both the duck and the pasta came back to the table and, it was only lukewarm at best. Erin noted that on Sunday, the head chef heads to the Supper Club to oversee the dinners being delivered and that his replacement was on duty. And she told us that others were sending food back. A floor manager came over asking if he could make it right and I agreed. He returned 5 minutes later and said "Chef just put my order in the 800 degree pizza oven??? What??? And I looked at the with great distain and burned my two fingers on the damn hot plate moving it closer. The duck and pasta were now burnt to shit. I was DONE NOW, having lost my appetite. I asked Erin to take it away (sorry no pictures of this since I was occupied trying to get a decent meal) and asked her to please get me a glass of Pinot and the dessert menu. My wife only had, maybe a third of her plate and I asked her what she thought about the dish... "maybe a 7, at best she said" and had no interest in eating any further. She wanted to leave. Erin felt really bad about our experience... suggesting that we come back "during the week days"!!!????? What???? The GM comped our (my) drinks and we had a $66 tab. Erin was great, left her a generous cash tip and squeezed our way out. The place was rocking as we left with people waiting to be seated and a HUGE take out service going on. So... don't go there on Sundays. Maybe we'll go back. A big maybe. Or try their sister restaurant "Capri" located in a different part of Boston. It's been over a decade since I sent my food back. It was a very bad experience. Try the Supper Club... that's where the best food is served on Sundays. Sadly... and still hungry tonight but some great leftovers in the fridge to heat up!!! read more

Service was great, this southie neighborhood is so cute and attracts a young and fun crowd. Lots of street parking makes it a good place to take a date to show off without having to deal with the parking fiasco like every other nice Boston restaurant. The drinks are delicious and sharp, the pasta is SO yummy. My date and I frequent this place, our favorites are the prosciutto figs, pesto salmon, and the penne ala vodka. I was really excited about the bottomless pasta, but it proved to be incredibly disappointing. Not only is the pasta not that good, the service took so. long. We were there for maybe 3 hours, but only got 3 plates during that time and couldn't handle being there anymore so we left. Plus, the plates are TINY. I love the ambiance of Capo, especially during the Christmas time. It's moody, cozy, and lively. I came for the all you can eat pasta on a Wednesday night = $32 for bottomless pasta that most of their pasta menu (waygu and lobster pasta are a surcharge). Most pastas at capo range from $24-28 so for the price i think this is a pretty good deal. The kitchen was slammed upon arrival and service was preoccupied but overall i still think they were relatively efficient given the demand. None of the pastas really blew my mind, personal favorites were the tortellini, shrimp scampi, and Bolognese - but thought everything else was just alright. I do think for the size and flavor if i were to order any of these dishes at regular price I would be a bit disappointed. We made it through four rounds before tapping out. Overall a fun experience but I wouldn't expect stellar food. read more

I visited Capo with my cousin this spring and it was nice. We went on a Thursday. Food & beverage: I got the Everything Nice drink which was good. I ordered the 14 oz prime strip which was well cooked, the flavour was nice but it felt like it was missing something. I subbed crispy potatoes instead of the original polenta. The potatoes are good and the aioli was nice but I didn't want to use so much that it made the dish too heavy. The black garlic demi was both flavourful but too sweet for my taste. Many aspects of this meal felt like it was reliant on the sauces to add flavour. You want each component to be delicious on its own and the sauces to help lift the meal not be the reason why the dish tastes really good. I would like to return to try more menu items as there may be an item that I have an even better experience with. Service: Pretty good service but due to servers supporting multiple tables and the noise level and music it's hard to get their attention. Ambiance: Dimly lit, nice tables and decoration. Some booth/table seating are closely arranged that if you hope to have a conversation with another person it's hard to hear. Parking: There's a public lot nearby but it was totally full. We had to find street parking which took a bit of time so walking or taking an Uber/Lyft might be your best bet. I would return and might try earlier in the week to see if it's less noisy. I really like Capo - the food is consistently delicious every time I go, this time was a little different. We got the Sicilian Oregano Ciabatta to start - I will say that this normally comes out better, the basil pesto was just straight grinded up basil with no real flavor (it used to come with a chickpea dip that was amazing) so that was a bit disappointing. We also got the meatball appetizer which was good but nothing to write home about. I will start with the Shortrib Alfredo Casacrecce - I enjoyed the Alfredo sauce but the short rib was just one piece on top, I would have preferred it more incorporated in the dish. Then we got the Rigatoni Bolognese which you can never really go wrong with a Bolognese so that was an 8/10. For entrees, we got the Scallops Saltimbocca - I did not try that as I am not a seafood person but the table said it was good. Now for the star of the show ... the Brick Chicken was AMAZING - such good flavor, great portion size and they should never take this off the menu. For drinks we just did wine so nothing too crazy to review on. My only complaint every time I go here is that is overpriced for the portion sizes you are getting. read more

Came here for brunch with a group of 9. The place was empty when we arrived, and seating by the windows was cold so we asked to be moved. The staff was accommodating and closed them. I ordered the Rib Eye & Eggs, it was very good (though I was starving, so maybe that helped!). Tried the Bloom mocktail, which was sweet and tasty, but a little inconsistent since the three of us who ordered it all got different looking drinks, some with ice some without. 3.5/5 I was pleasantly surprised here. I feel like I'm always shocked when places I've known as "bars" serve decent food. I got the caesar salad with chicken, which was good, but the chicken was a little dry. My party got a vegan pizza and the eggplant parm that they both really enjoyed. We also got the zucchini fries which were the star of the show, and the aranchini was really good too (and I don't even like them that much). We went in for the Super Bowl, so the vibes were really great and the giant viewing screens were definitely fitting for the occasion. I will also say that while I am certainly not one for clubbing the basement is one of my better experiences because it's huge and AC'd and the music is pretty good. My significant other and I went last week for restaurant week and since he has never been before. It was moderately busy and still plenty of seating. The dim lighting creates an intimate and relaxing ambiance that we really enjoy. Our waitress was very attentive and kind, she made sure to check in on if we needed anything and filling our waters. For food we got complimentary bread with dipping oil, housemade ricotta, carbonara arancini, penne alla vodka, and 6 oz prime filet. The bread and dipping oil were good, we loved that the bread was warm. The housemade ricotta was delicious; however, my only personal complaint was the smokey taste of the sourdough that isn't my favorite. The carbonara arancini was soooo good and had a little kick to it. My significant other devoured his steak and mashed potatoes, he really enjoyed it. My penne alla vodka was good, but not the best. I would probably order a different pasta dish next time. As for dessert, we both ordered the torta di chocolate which was rich in flavor and a perfect way to end the meal! Food was also good, but I warn anyone who wants to dine here in the colder months, DO NOT let the staff sit you in the 6 4- seated tables in the front of the restaurant. I want to compliment the service, which was timely and friendly. We had an excellent waitress. The food came quickly, though the fried calamari wasn't my cup of tea. They were nicely beer battered and super crisp. However, the size of these calamari were fairly large resulting in a crunchy, but very rubbery appetizer. Would only recommend if you don't mind that type of texture. We did not finish it. The main dishes on the other hand were delicious. Hardy portions, good flavor, and a creative spin. My truffle fusili was very well done. Dessert was also tasty. Gelato is great and the torta di chocolate will blow you away. It is incredible. This meal would 100% have been even better if my group and I weren't freezing cold every time the front door opened. There is no blower or additional heat source in the front, so every time someone came in or left, which was frequent, we and the other 5 tables would be blown around by the draft and freezing weather. I also noticed that pick up orders were placed in the foyer area which itself was fairly chilly, so anyone getting delivery shouldn't be surprise dif their food is cold upon arrival. I would highly recommend this spot if you want a fun night out or a good meal, just do not let anyone sit you by the front seating area during the winter. Makes for a really unpleasant experience. We dined at Capo South Boston on a Wednesday evening, drawn in by the warm, social ambiance which is great for groups or casual night out. Vibe was promising but the dining experience didnt live up to out expectations. We started with the arancini, which were solid though nothing particularly memorable. However, things went downhill from there. After the appetizer arrived within 15 minutes, we waited nearly an hour for our pasta dishes to come out (after the appetizer) I got the Maine Lobster al Limone, which is good but my husband got the Chicken Parmesan which was served burnt, charred to the point of being inedible (as pictured, the room is dark so the picture doesnt do justice). We politely asked it to be remade, only to be served from the same batch of the chicken. another burnt one. When we voiced our concern, the server insisted "thats how we make it" which honestly felt like gaslighting rather than genuine customer care. Frustrated, we asked to swap it for a simple spaghetti and meatballs, cuz they cant mess that up right? Sadly, that one came out as bland and underwhelming as well. By the time it arrived, my husband already lost his appetite from the overall disappointment. While our server check in occasionally,it was clear that she was avoiding our table for most of the experience, likely because she knew how delayed the kitchen was in getting the food out, and later, because of our disappointment with the burnt chicken parm. no manager stopped by, which felt a missed opportunity to address a poor dining experience. Overall, Capo has a nice vibe with their lighting and bar front, but the slow service and inconsistent food made for a frustrating night. The pumpkin spice martinis are a must in the fall, and i'm loyal to their penne alla vodka with grilled chicken. We went with two couples and we had to yell to the person next to us so they could yell to the person next to them to get our message across.
