Came here in a Friday evening with a dinner reservation at 6:15. We were promptly seated in the outdoor patio area. It is in a lovely courtyard surrounded on three sides by the adjacent brick building. The very helpful waitstaff came by and answered questions we had about the menu. We put in our drink orders and all of the cocktails were lovely. The standout appetizers were the tuna tartare, Sicilian citrus, and the honey buns. For entrees, the chicken parmigiana was lovely and crispy, I enjoyed it much more than the same dish at their sister restaurant Prima. For dessert, the limoncello tiramisu was lovely, nothing like a tiramisu aside from the ladyfingers, but it was still delicious! The honey buns taste as good as they look, maybe even better, but save room for dinner! I know it's tempting but trust me there is more good food coming. The chicken parmigiana was amazing. Usually when I order chicken parmigiana, the chicken is small and there's a lot of pasta, but that was not the case at Capri. They give you a decent sized piece of chicken, which is great, but the pasta was also amazing. I actually wish I had ordered more pasta. The Caesar salad was average. The grilled lemon on the side was a nice touch when drizzled over the salad, but I wasn't blown away by the Caesar dressing. Our server was SO nice and I love that you're able to order half portions of pasta here if you want to try more things. It's also a very beautiful restaurant for pictures. Capri's an upscale Italian restaurant in Boston. The space is gorgeous with an elegant downstairs, vibrant upstairs, and they even have outdoor seating that I can't wait to enjoy once summer arrives. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. They answered all our questions and offered great recommendations. The cocktails are creative and tasty, and the food is even better. Their pasta dishes are phenomenal, especially anything that includes the Italian sausage. We also tried the espresso martini with limoncello, which was different, but delicious. But, i think it's telling that this is a steakhouse and no one orders steak but instead goes for the pasta. I came here with a friend on a Wednesday night during prime time and we were seated inside without a reservation near immediately. This is definitely an upscale South End restaurant. It seemed like there was ample space inside and outside, with both upstairs and downstairs dining rooms. Idk why but the interior felt like an elegant restaurant with a cabaret flair. The service was really incredible! Our servers were helpful, personable, responsive, and warm. We ordered the honey buns--honestly one of the best things I've eaten in a while. The fresh ricotta with the sprinkle of olive oil was a delicious touch. We then ordered the tortellini di mais and the ribeye to share. The tortellini was unique and tasty, and the ribeye was cooked perfectly. I really enjoyed the herby chimichurri it came with. I would come back!! Food is average at best -- definitely nothing compared to the many established Italian restaurants, whether regular or higher end level, in the North End. Don't take our observations for this. Ask any of their employees! Constant complaints and frustrations pour to the customers (dining customers!) about the owners berating employees and customers. The moment there's any complaints or even feedbacks, they go on the defense and get just too in-secured and come up with all possible -- any excuses a or justifications -- even when they don't make any sense! As for the Italian steaks. Go to Davio's -- the quality of the meat is way better, and it just because they are way more experienced in this niche, but because Davio's definitely care more about their food than this newbie Capri. Further, Davio's management is more established in the Boston areas, and does not treat their employees and customers like disposable garbage. read more

We also decided to get the Zucca salad which was the most surprising and most delightful part of the meal for me. The roasted fruits and veggies alongside the fresh kale and vinaigrette was heavenly! For the main course we split the 12oz filet with a side of brown butter pasta and a side of rigatoni with vodka sauce. Capri has to be my favorite Italian spot in the city. The restaurant is large and the decor is stunning. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and checked on us frequently throughout the night. He recommended a lot of the dishes we got which included: honey buns (so good we ended up ordering another), crunchy Caesar, meatballs, arancini, rigatoni alla vodka, tortellini, filet mignon and brown butter mashed potatoes. Everything we had was so fresh and delicious. They were completely booked for Valentine's day reservations and were not taking a wait list. Only option was the bar which was also completely full. We waited for a seat and I had a glass of moscato in the meantime. Bartender didn't give us the valentines menu at first so I had to ask, yet everyone around us had it. We started with honeybuns served with whipped ricotta and a half portion cesar salad. Honeybuns were delicious and sweet and the ricotta was just the opposite so it paired nicely. The cesar salad had a different taste but I liked it, good portion to split. My entree, the chicken parmesan, was actually underwhelming. Online the pictures looked really good but I wasn't impressed. The pasta it came with also lacked flavor. My boyfriend ordered a special off the featured menu, I liked it more than he did. It was an interesting dish but the beets threw him off. The highlight for me was the interior for sure, classic style with drapes and lamps--straight out of a movie. The only thing is that since they're extremely busy, the bar gets backed up. The cocktails I had were all delicious but my favorite was the Sophia. You must get the hot honey rolls and crunchy caesar salad! The table also got tuna scottato and arancini, which I feel like we could've skipped. There was soooo much food and the arancini wasn't that great. We ordered the bolognese and tortellini. I thought they were delicious but they were more al dente than others at the table would've liked. For protein, we got the 27oz ribeye and veal milanese. The veal was amazing, while the ribeye was tough and not that flavorful. Although this was my first time here, I'd skip the steaks at Capri and order it at a proper steakhouse. We have been trying to get a reservation for about a year, finally got one for today at lunch. I will say it was worth the wait. Started off with a couple drinks and scallop crudo and tuna scottato. Both were so good that we could have eaten them as a main course. My wife at the fusilli with shrimp and I had the spaghetti with lobster. The interior is beautiful, and it feels like each section of the restaurant has its own theme and different vibe. Our server was very attentive, and the service overall was great. It's a wonderful place to go for the ambience or to enjoy drinks at the bar. The Zio Ugo, was very refreshing and well-balanced. I was most excited for the honey buns, but they were underwhelming. They were lightly glazed, not very sweet, and after the first bite of glaze the rest just tasted like a normal bun. The Funghi al Forno was deliciously seasoned, but the portion was very small and left me wanting more. For pastas, we ordered the Spaghetti all'Aragosta and the Garganelli alla Pollo. Both were flavorful and had a generous amount of protein. It's also good to note that you can order half sizes of the pastas to try more dishes. The filet mignon was just okay, nothing special. I was so excited to try Capri as I'm a big fan of the groups other restaurants. Capri has such a beautiful interior- the space feels warm and stylish, and it really sets the tone for a nice night out. It reminds me a lot of Prima in Charlestown. The honey buns with ricotta were SO good and had great texture, but again, the salt overpowered what could've been a perfect balance. We wanted to order 2 appetizers before the last person in our party arrived and the server kind of gave us a hard time about not ordering the whole meal at the same time. Multiple times we were in the middle of eating something and a busser or server asked if they could clear. Like our salad was only half done and the server was trying to take away our appetizer plates, utensils, and the remaining half of the salad. Again, when we were eating the entrees multiple people asked if they could take our plates that still were full of food and we had our forks in our hands. We finally got a reservation at Capri by snagging a cancellation and it was SO delicious! It was also the perfect time to go because it was beautifully decorated for Christmas and absolutely charming! Our server Matthew was great and he didn't skip a beat with my extensive allergies and being vegetarian. Not only did he put me at ease, he was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. I appreciate that there were mocktails and non alcoholic beer on the menu. We tried the "far from the tree" with apple cider, sage, and citrus which was very good- well balanced and not too sweet, and Matthew said the bar tender was like a "Liquid chef" and could make us something else if we'd like. We had to get the honeybuns to start since everyone posts about them, which were very soft, but we didn't like the ricotta paired with them (and saved that for later in our meal). I loved the citrus olive pistachio salad, but thought the fusilli Al limone was a bit disappointing since I was comparing it to the dish I've had in Sorrento, and there wasn't much lemon flavor (although cooked perfectly al dente). My husband enjoyed the Bistecca (steak tartar) and Garganelli al pollo. I have wanted to eat at Capri for months, and it did not disappoint! My boyfriend and I had the best date here last night. The ambiance was wonderful, and we ate in the lower dining section next to the open patio doors. Our waiter, Theo, could not have been sweeter or more pleasant to talk to. For drinks, I got two of the Zio Ugo, which was so delicious and refreshing without being overly sweet. For appetizers, we of course ordered the honey buns (potentially the highlight of the meal and lived up to the hype; deliciously sweet and the inside so fluffy, the ricotta complemented them perfectly) and the caesar salad (so crunchy and refreshing). For our entrees, my boyfriend got the rigatoni alla vodka, which he devoured, and I got the chicken parm with vodka sauce (a bit of an off menu item I have seen online that they were kindly very willing to accommodate, it came with some pasta as well which was a wonderful surprise). The vodka sauce on both of these had delicious flavor and consistency, and my chicken cutlet was breaded and cooked to perfection. I also got a side of the cremini mushrooms, the savory flavor, texture, and juiciness of which was so delicious (as someone who is a particular fan of mushrooms).
