A small Italian style deli off the beaten path, so to speak, left me in 'Awe!! and delightfully surprised. I bought a Pastrami Combo for $10 and I was just blown away how good it was; how generous the portion size was, including sliced dill pickle and a small slaw... fantastic. My wife ordered a 12" Cold Cut sandwich to share with her mother: a real foot-long sandwiched packed well and large enough to two to share for $14 - amazing deal. My wife had to share some of the meat with me. Additionally, I ordered an extra side: a 1lb coleslaw salad and an extra-large fountain drink, and two bags of chips, all for under $40 dollars... it was a lot, and we were definitely full at the end of our meal and completely satisfied. The Deli has a variety of hot meals and cold cut sandwiches to choose from, and a menu full of food items surely to please anyone in your family, and prices that are surprisingly inexpensive. They also cook food fresh, as I could see they were busy in the kitchen; a lady stirring a large pot of sauce; not entirely sure what was in it but could only imagine that it was 'grandma's secret recipe.' And the pasta dishes I saw coming out of the kitchen were large and generous. Salads are large, well made, and everything served is well presented, as if they know that 'attention to details' are important... you can tell they care what they serve to their customers. And another Great thing I noticed; the staff here are incredibly friendly, polite, and professional... service here is incredible -- it appears they do a fantastic job in appreciating their customers well... and it shows. Don't be fooled by the quaint size of the shop once you walk in; I was a bit confused at first because I could not see any dining tables at first; thinking it was a 'To-Go' place only but then thankfully found that the dining area is toward the rear with plenty of in-door and out-door tables. While parking for us was fine; a few spaces in front, I can imagine at times it could be hard to find a spot. But with patience and determination, it is well worth trying out... The freshness of the meatballs, wrapped in melted provolone cheese in a chewy bread that didn't disintegrate because it wasn't drenched with sauce. Hands down the best meatball sandwich I ever had. After work that day, I went to Capri Deli myself because I wanted my husband to experience the same culinary excellence. Wanted to check out their grinders, so I ordered the mortadella and prosciutto and swapped half with my husband for the dual experience, plus bow tie pasta salad bowl. Our taste buds were in heaven, the mortadella is one of my favorites now. It was so easy to order, if you're i decided, ask the counter for help, they will not steer you wrong. I saw them making my order and was just amazed how effortless they were behind the counter. The long counter displays their salads and sweet treats, a variety of unique chips stood at the end and a few tables toward the back to eat in and savor their food. They have been at this location since 1954, it feels like coming in to your great uncle's home, so warm and welcoming. So glad I came before 5pm, the dinner rush was just a few minutes after me. We have been coming here for years, have spent lots of money here, and now we will NEVER be coming back. We had a very specific time we needed our catering ready by, and the girl on the phone said the time was fine. We come to pick up our order and the restaurant wasn't even open. We knocked on the door, the employees inside continued to ignore us. When they finally very rudely answered they said they didn't open for another hour and that the girl who took our order was wrong. That part I understand, but to not even give us a phone call to alert us? What's the excuse for not reaching out to us? The employee working even said they saw that the time was wrong. Do not order take out because they will charge you extra for items added to you sandwich and then not put them. Stopped by here in the Fran's ordered two sandwiches, a meatball and Italian. Both sandwiches were equally good and they have a huge selection of drink choices from alcoholic to non alcoholic. I ordered a large sandwich party platter for an event I was hosting at home. While the food is good, there is a lot left to be desired as far as customer service. I called after ordering the large platter to ADD food, and when I was confused about something and changed my mind while on the phone with the employee, she set the phone down without putting it on hold. I heard her speaking to another woman about how annoying it was that I didn't know what I wanted. The other girl then asked what I decided on and when the girl told her, the other woman said "Oh, so she's dumb." She then continued to talk about how what I was ordering didn't make sense. (I still don't understand why she took my order so personally). The other girl got back on the phone to give me my total and I asked to speak to a manager because I'd just heard their entire conversation. She said "oh" and put me on hold for 10 min. When the "manager" named Paige got on the phone, she basically said "So sorry about that, did you still want the order?" I let her know that I was super tempted to cancel it entirely as this situation was so crazy, but that my event was in two days and I would be the only one to suffer in this situation. In my opinion, they could have easily at least discounted the order, thrown in the extra food for free, a discount for next time...anything. This really leads me to believe that Paige is not actually a manager and even if she is, she was probably the one that called me dumb. My mom went in to pick up the order the day of the event and she let another employee know what happened and they were then rude to her. She told them we would be leaving a bad review and the man told her "We don't care we get bad reviews all the time". They took my order over the phone, but they never made my order so when I got there, I still had to wait about 35 minutes minutes for them to actually make it and that did not include the time I waited in the 'pick up' line which was about another 15 minutes. I flippin love this place. I'm a huge sandwich fan and they are my favorite. Every time I go there I get a salami sandwich. I highly recommend getting the garlic bread upgrade for your sandwich and their homemade peppercinis make my mouth salivate just thinking about them. I love their selection of non commercial brands of sodas too. You can grab a beer there as well and it's definitely a lunch time type of place. The Italian food there is ok in my opinion, their pizza gets the job done. Their beef dip and pastrami is solid as well as their meat ball subs. Their Antipasto salad is good too and definitely worth a try. This isn't really a dinner time type of place to sit down but it's fun for lunch. It's got a kind of unique vibe and a slightly old school Italian energy. The girls at the counter are usually nice but I go there cause of the sandwiches, not cause of the service. For those of you who have not had the chance to visit this landmark establishment, let me tell you a little about this wonderful place. Capri Deli was opened in 1954, and has been kept in the family to this day. I have been visiting Capri Deli for over 30 years, and you can always expect consistency, friendly customer service, and amazing Italian/Sicilian products. They sell everything from Italian cold cuts to imported Italian products. I always seem to stop by when I am in the area. This was the case this past Friday. I was craving one of their amazing 12" meatball sandwiches on Garlic Bread. Italian style toasted sesame roll (made into garlic bread), homemade meatballs, mozzarella cheese, their incredible meat sauce, and a lot of love all go into this monstrosity. Always tasty, always fresh...what else more could you ask for? They also have a cooler that is stocked with craft sodas, as well as a cooler stocked with amazing deserts. I always seem to gravitate towards the lemon bars they sell. First time going as the deli was highly recommended by a friend. The atmosphere was pleasant, and the service was good. I had a chicken mozzarella sandwich, which wasn't that great. The sandwich was small and had three very small pieces of chicken. It's not worth the money. On the other hand, the turkey sandwich (which my son had) looked very good and size wise, much bigger than the chicken mozzarella sandwich. I will be going again and trying something else. When I was a kid, my parents used to take me to Giovanni's Pizza in Fullerton, and Giovanni's ruined me for life. Since then, I have been chasing the memory of the Giovanni's Deluxe Combo Grinder and their pizzas. And, while I have had some success, it has been fleeting. I just had the cold cut combo at Capri's, and I'm a little kid again! This is a true old-school grinder. Meats, provolone, shredded lettuce, tomato, pickle, and just the right amount of oil and vinegar to where it starts to jyst soften the seeded roll. Tha is how you make a sandwich! Delicious sandwich. Nice and soft bread, lots of meat and fresh veggies. Last few bites of the sandwich were delicious with the mustard, Mayo, and oil mixed with the bread and meats. Called in the order at 10:40 and when we got there around 11:00, there was about 15 people waiting in line. They have a phone order pick up line, but we still had to wait about 10 minutes to get our food. Not too bad considering how slammed the workers are with all their orders.
