Recently I completed a 7-day stretch of trying at least one new-to-me restaurant per day. Day six was at Red Mill Inn & Pizza. Red Mill Inn has been near the top of my places to try list for a while. It was a smoky day due to Canadian wildfires, so I sat inside instead of out on their nice looking patio and ordered cheese garlic bread and a large sausage pizza. I enjoyed the cheese garlic bread. It was a very thick piece of bread that was crunchy on the outside and super soft on the inside. I'd gladly get it again. The pizza was good, not great. I appreciated the crispy edges from the oven it's cooked in, but something about it didn't wow me. It was so thin that I ate more than I probably should in a single sitting. I'd likely try something else if/when I come back to experience the patio. Shout-out to Rosie. We decided to have dinner with friends and we decided to order takeout pizza. The pizza was very good, the garlic bread was amazing, and the salad was very good as well. We ordered a large pizza and had plenty of leftovers for the four of us. Would definitely order from them again. Sorry I didn't get any pictures. We were too hungry! First time trying this place. Inside is just a cool Bar to watch a game and grab a drink and eat, and there's dinning outside and inside for families and couples to get dinner. Service was quick, and friendly. I usually give places like this 4 stars. A solid gem you can go once a week. It's getting 5 stars because of the pizza. The pizza is the Milwaukee tavern style crust, but not flakey or soggy and flimsy. The crust was crisp and the sauce awesome. Best pizza I've had in the west allis area sense moving here. We were excited to try this place out based on the great reviews here recently. Unfortunately, we didn't have as great an experience as others. We stopped in on a Friday night to try their fish fry because they had both perch and bluegill on the menu. Apparently, their hostess wasn't on that night so no one was seating people for quite a while. A manager stopped by and put about 3 different parties on the wait list. When we asked how long for 2 people, he just said "a while". Busy night, got it. After about 5-10 minutes, a very nice server, Jess, saw it was just the 2 of us waiting and got us a high top in the bar area. Service continued to be great by Jess. Got the french onion crock which was a little salty but not bad. The fish fry was awful. The cod lacked flavor and was soggy. The bluegill had an Italian seasoned breading that seemed unnecessary and the fish didn't taste too fresh. Should've just stuck with pizza maybe. We watched groups cycle through after seeing how long a wait would be just to leave, and for those already seated, many people sighing in frustration as it would easily be 10 minutes until a server would stop at their table. It was definitely a longer dining experience but you could tell that Jess was busting it out and trying to get to all of her tables quickly. Unfortunately, for the price ($18/basket) and the hassle, this place wasn't worth it for us. Maybe we will try again in the future but not in a hurry to go back. I visited Red Mill on my last visit to Milwaukee and love the ambiance, the menu, and the drink special! We went on a Wednesday during half price bottles of wine - score! I ordered the filet dinner with a side of mushrooms. It was $24 and honestly I didn't have high expectations as I thought this was a pizza place; however, I was wildly impressed. I've paid WAY MORE for steak that was not good at all and this steak was cooked to perfection, well seasoned, and delicious. My friend enjoyed the margarita pizza which was delicious as well. I try to stop here weekly. I love this place. it's been around forever. My brother in law worked here in high school (mid 90s). The food here is delicious. I highly recommend the gluten-free pizza. Best crust anywhere in town for gluten-free. The service is super awesome here. All of the waitresses and waiters are on it. The bartender is so friendly and a good drink. I love Phil. He knows us when we call or when we come in. He knows exactly what we are going to order and he's just amazing if you tried the Red Mill Inn, you really need to. I remember having a fish fry here in the mid 70's through the mid 80's. Easily the best beer battered fish I've ever tasted. I decided to try the fish dinner tonight. I wasn't expecting the same experience from 40+ years ago, but I certainly wasn't expecting what I tasted tonight. I wanted so bad to at least say it was "okay". The fish had no flavor whatsoever. With good tartar sauce some of the lack of flavor can be overcome. Not in this case. The tartar sauce was horrible. I could only eat 1/2 of one filet out of 3. My dog got the rest. No name bargain frozen fish sticks from the grocery store would have been better. I'd like to try it again IF they change the recipe, but I'll be bringing a sandwich just in case. read more

Delicious cracker thin crust pizza. We got the magnifica which is basically the deluxe, specified light cheese, half no olives/mushrooms, add peppercini to the whole thing. Everything was perfect. Just the way we like it. We also ordered garlic bread. Decent size loaf of bread absolutely drenched in garlic butter then toasted. Perfect amount of crunch, buttery, soft goodness. I could eat 6 orders of the garlic bread alone. We ordered a large pizza for 2 of us. Usually we take home about half a pizza, but it was so good, we only took home a forth of it. We'll be back. In lady and the tramp (the cartoon) They sit outside this Italian eatery, in the alley and have this cute little romantic spaghetti plate. That's what I imagine the Redmill inn is. Res hue interior red/white checkered table clothes, wine bottles, a nice bar and solid service. Friendly and charming tucked into an unexpected neighborhood. Ordered the meet meat pizza and it was really good. The edges were a little dark and crispy but that was insignificant to the flavor. Cut in squares and thin with a great sauce, solid meat like a lot but flavors worked. We also got the non traditional fried mozzarella and that was amazing. Like a fried green tomato in shape. Lightly breaded and fried so it had crunch and texture but wasn't a froze gordon foods mozz stick. Loved it. Will return to dine in! read more

This is one of our favorite pizza places in the Milwaukee area - anywhere really! They have some unusual combinations on their menu, like the Italian beef pizza with white sauce and horseradish aioli that we had the last time we ate here. Drinks are good. Their salads are fresh - you can get anchovies on the Caesar salad if you like - and I do! On our last visit the only downside was the service. They've actually cut their open days to only Friday, Saturday and Sunday because of labor shortages and you can tell on a busy night like when we were there that they could use more staff. I really hope that they find a solution and are able to stay open and hopefully expand their hours - this place is too good to fall by the wayside! read more

First timer here! Went there on a Friday around 5:15pm. This place is truly a gem. There are a number of tables in the bar area and more in the back area. The server was good and checked in us to make sure we enjoyed our food. We ordered a basket of fries, garlic bread with cheese, a small pizza and a large pizza, which was more then enough for four people, with leftovers. The fries appeared to be freshly made, not frozen. The garlic bread with cheese was good, but if you love garlic bread, you might want two of those. The pizza is nice and thin, square cut, and the toppings were fresh. The sausage was so good, as were the other toppings that my family enjoyed on the other half. We got an old fashioned and sodas to drink. It was about $20/person which was a little pricey, but we would definitely return. We did ask the server when it gets busy and he said Friday is typically a busier day, especially because they have fish fry Friday's. He also stated they were busy between 5:00 and 8:00 and they only take reservation for tables of 8 or more. So, I would go early if you want to really enjoy the place before it gets too crowded. Great establishment. Down home feel but yet upscale pizza and menu. Simple menu which is what I like, I mean who wants 48 pages of every ethnicity imaginable, not I. I've visited 3 times now before writing a review. Experienced staff, Quality food, and great service. Now I was worried since the red mill closed, thinking, pizza place? But.... the pizza overwhelmed my expectations and the spaghetti and meat balls are upscale and full of flavor! I was impressed. I love Santino's and who doesn't know mama mias. I love zarlettis and even balistreri's but again this is unique place and delicious. I had the Margherita pizza and the meatballs, lasagna and salads. They were all amazing. Okay I am from Chicago and was a little skeptical about the reviews for the pizza but boy was I surprised. This pizza is fabulous -I mean really great. I've had access to some of the best pizza and I will say this is in my top 5. The restaurant old and rustic,a little rough maybe, but has some charm. Don't judge it on that. Also, they were clearly short handed that night but they were hustling and I was surprised at how fast we were served. To note, they are putting the finishing touches on an outdoor patio. Those garlic knots and sauce!!!!!!!!! They were AMAZING! We did take out, so I can't comment on the sit down experience, but we had very friendly phone service and the pizza takeout was done on time. I enjoyed that the pizza came in a bag instead of a box. Those are always hard to dispose of, especially the large ones. The pizza was described to me as hand tossed, but it seemed thin to me.
