I ordered the Kalua pork and the lau lau. I didn't want the rice or Mac salad and they charged me less for the meal. The was very nice of them. The customer service was so great. It was a great meal and lasted me two days. Please come and create your own adventure.

After a long ride doing the "Road to Hāna" guide, we stopped here to look around at the food trucks. After debating what to get, I stopped by here. The look of the truck was distinct from the rest, this one was all black, while others had colors to it. After eating poke the previous day, I was craving some chicken. What caught my attention of the Korean chicken, and that it had the house made sauce, which I love to try out a restaurant's unique food/food item. Ordered it, took a few minutes, and got the food out. The plate came with a scoop of rice, macaroni salad, chicken, sauce, and rice under the chicken to soak up the sauce. It was the best food I've had here during my vacation. The chicken was crispy but not dry, the sauce complimented it, while not overpowering the flavor of the chicken. The macaroni salad and rice were delicious. I couldn't finish it all, so I took the rest to go. Even after a few hours and it being cold, the chicken was still crispy and tasty. For the price of $20, it was a definitely worth it for the taste and the amount that you get. If I ever come back to Hāna, I am definitely going to return here.

Combo plate with shrimp and fish. I already ate some:) Great portion.

Delicious! Really fresh tasting fish and shrimp. I could use a touch more salt/flavor, but I always feel that way ha. Sauces were great and Mac salad was good too. Friendly service.

Reasonably priced, easy for two people to share. Food truck located in a park with several other food trucks around. I felt the portion sizes were good enough, but could've used a little bit more rice to eat with the plentiful tuna they gave. They do take credit card without fee Unfortunately no service or Wi-Fi available. Some of the other food trucks in the area charge for credit card use or require cash. They also don't have any water except bottled water for purchase. I suppose are capitalizing on the heat and lack of other resources in the area. The other downside was there a lot of flies and bugs around the tables meant for eating so it was not an enjoyable experience to eat outside and we took our food back to the car.

Really good. Stopped here after 4pm on a Sunday, so glad that there were still some food options available. They were out of the lau lau pork, which I was sad about but the panko shrimp and Korean chicken were good. The dipping sauce was a sweet chili which was good. Some of the rice was on the soggy side but I liked the Mac salad a lot --not too heavy. Really big portion, and came out pretty quick.

SHOCKED by how good this was! Their Korean chicken is really hard to beat, one of my favorite stops in Maui, and happens to be in one of the smallest towns. Can't recommend enough!

Korean chicken and Panko breaded fish is a must! The lady who took our order was very friendly and helpful. I am so glad we stopped at this truck on our route, best food so far this trip

    The best of the trucks!

Took a guided tour of the road to Hanna and was told that there would be a variety of food trucks to sample for lunch. So the expectation was standard average tourist fare on a food truck. Captain Sam's had several fresh options. My wife had the fish and chips fresh catch of the day perfectly battered and fried with very light and crispy. French fries. The perfect lunch. I opted to have my first taste of authentic lau-lau, which is pork wrapped in tarot leaves. And paired that in a combination plate with some Korean style chicken. Everything was phenomenal. Amazingly fresh, tasty and no doubt made with love. When you find yourself on the road to Hana, you need to stop at Captain Sam's.

Perfect bite to eat along the Hana Highway. My family got 2 of the tuna poke bowls and it was delicious! The workers also answered my questions about the food, and overall enjoyed my meal :)

    Smoked Pork

Seriously the most delicious pork we have ever tasted! The smoked pork was BOMB and the pulled pork had a delicious flavor. Large meat portions with rice and macaroni salad. We were full and happy after the long drive to Hana... highly recommend!

Captain Sams (Yes he really is Boat Captain and Fisherman) food truck with its distinctive Black and Sliver color combination Serves some really great food. I had the Spicy Ahi Poke Wanton Nachos they must try. My partner had the Pork Lau Lau she said it was very tender and tasty. Today Ms Katie Ann was take orders and making menu suggestions. For about five dollars extra you could make your lunch order a combo platter. Its good way to sample some of the local flavors. Captain Sam's not only provides great food, but it represents a younger group of local entrepreneurs that wanna provide a living for themselves to stay in Hana in raise families and I'm so happy to support them.

It's huge portions of yummy good ... fish Chicken, pork and local favorite "Ahi Poke Nachos... Happy eats yall!!!!

Two perfectly cooked eggs with that runny yoke, two hamburger patties, onion, rice, and a generous portion of gravy. All of that combined made a great lunch. If you're not starving, then there's enough to share for two. One of the best Loco Mocos we had on our trip. They're located in an area with multiple little food trucks, and they have plenty of tables in the middle to enjoy your food. There's a little parking lot nearby - we didn't have any problems finding a place to park. Both the wife and I decided on Joel's and for once we both decided on the same dish. With a quick order, we were spending some time finding a seat, and looking at some of the other vendors who are also here at the trucks. This is a great and casual place to get your food on. There are a couple of other places that you can go, but the food to choose from here at least for me is just too hard to beat. When we got our food, we were happy it's the portions of both the teriyaki beef and the garlic shrimp. I would suggest that if you get the garlic shrimp, that you have anyone else whom you plan on talking to or being closer than 2 feet from you also eat the garlic shrimp. These things are delicious but will keep vampires away for quite a while. Simply put this is a great stop to get your quick food on, easily eat in 10-15 mins and you can be on the road in 30 mins or less if your in a hurry, or like us, just soak in that glorious weather and have a great meal. The portion size was appropriate and the price is typical of what you will find on the island and keep in mind that you are also in Hana so just keep that in mind. No dollar menus here!! You find yourself on the road to Hana, stop in at the food truck area and stop and Joel's. You wont be sorry.

Holy smokes, that Mochicko Chicken [Hawaiian-style fried chicken made by marinating bite-sized chicken pieces in a sweet and savory soy-garlic batter featuring mochiko (sweet rice flour) before deep-frying] is the bomb! Super crispy bits, amazing flavor, served over garlic noodles...man alive, if you are in Maui and don't grab takeout here, you may as well not go to Maui. It is takeout only and my wife didn't want fried food so she ordered something from the Mexican joint across the parking lot. The animal style sauce was really tasty, and didn't overpower the chicken, it complimented the plate well! The noodles weren't very garlicky at all, definitely felt it was lacking flavor. Poke was good, but the pieces of fish were in pretty large chunks. Lastly, the pork belly was just okay. As a local, I think this place is a good introduction for tourists to get a taste of local flavors. But definitely hit up some other local spots even Zippy's for comparison. Maybe I just went on a off day. To end off on a positive note they do offer a few vegetarian and vegan options!

We were greeted as we came in and told to check out the menu and join the line when we were ready to order. Tables were on a first come first served basis. The server on floor was a man of many suits is what my granddad said. He juggled hosting, clearing tables, taking orders, food delivery service, phone orders, and serving meals. His service was very efficient and hospitable. Their menu is expansive which made deciding both easy and hard for most of us since their whole menu sounded great. We all ended up with their top sellers, the server knowing it was our first time to Hawaii recommended this famous Hawaiian dish. Something about hearing homemade gravy and burger patties along with runny eggs sounds too good to miss out on, with being name Loco Moco, what's not to try? Their famous smoked pork (what they are known for) glazed with this sweet pineapple sauce with a nice punch of heat was definitely a highlight for everyone at the table. We also got the Korean style beef ribs that's served on a hot skillets. The aroma filled the restaurant and definitely captured everyone's attention, this by far was my favorite thing on our table aside from the coconut cake which we had for dessert (Justin, tell your sister I need the recipe!). For seafood we got the Ahi katsu salad (we had to be somewhat healthy lol) it was nice and crispy on the outside. Sauces complemented the juicy flavorful dish so well. I never had papaya seed dressing before until today and I ended up buying my own at Safeway! Sweet, tangy, refreshing paired well with the fish. Hurricane mochi chicken was juicy on the outside and the crispy skin was coated with Hurricane sauce (Teri aioli sauce) so good my nephew bought a bottle to take home. Overall the food was amazing. Server checked on us several times, offering to go plates if you need them ( we didn't need it, we had a proper "mopsesh" ) Disclaimer: They serve their food on paper plates, trust me the food taste better on these plates. The locals next to us said that's what you call a plate lunch while watching our food hit the table Overall experience was great, the service was impressive, the food was amazing, and the place was neat and clean. Thank you Justin for sharing a piece of your family with mines. We will definitely be returning on our next trip. Congratulations with the restaurant expanding as well! You guys are an inspiration!
