Market fish with mac nut pesto, creamy orzo w/chorizo, and purées of cauliflower and butternut squash with microgreens.

Friendly staff, delicious food, and a lovely ambiance. We ordered the pork belly bao buns, Caesar salad, market fish, teriyaki waygu burger, and for dessert banana cheesecake and pineapple upside down cake to go. It's a great spot and well worth the trip and cost.

This place offers some freshly made food with good quality ingredients. We ordered the market fresh fish (daily catch), and free other seafood entrees. Everything was good but the portion size was small for the price. The service was good and overall we had a good experience.

Great place to dine for special occasion. They serve lunch and dinner. Our server Iaan was very friendly and helpful. Ambiance is nice. There are two places for seating. They have a front and back area. There is also bar seating available. I usually like getting their fish dishes for dinner. The Caesar salad was delicious too and my mom enjoyed her onion soup. The margarita was one of the best we had. I definitely recommend it!

Cute spot with very nice lighting and a generous amount of seating. Our waiter was super friendly and had some great recommendations. I enjoyed my ribs with fries as well as some local beer. My father got the fish and was very happy with his lunch. Definitely for special occasions, but it was nice to try something new!

Visiting Maui for the first time and stopped by Hali'imaile General Store for lunch on a Tuesday around noon. I ordered the Soup of the Day (tomato basil) and grilled mahi-mahi. The soup was lukewarm and forgettable. The mahi-mahi was fine with rice, but nothing memorable. The major issue: a chicken sandwich at our table was served with clearly burnt buns -- blackened edges on both halves. It was obvious before it even hit the table. This could've been a 3-star visit, but serving visibly burnt food without acknowledgment or replacement shows poor quality control. Disappointing experience. Cannot recommend.

After my fav fine dining restaurant Lahaina grill closed after the fire and being disappointed by mama's fish house, I'm in dire need to find a nice restaurant in Maui to splurge for. This place is....alright. For the price, quality, freshness, drink selections, and attentive service, I was happy enough to return. It's no Lahaina grill, but unlike most places in Maui which are expensive tourist traps, here you DO get what you pay for. And I'm happy with that. Everything is made well. Nothing mind blowing, but solid and tasty. Portion is generous. Drinks - tried mai tai (prefer monkey pod), Maui mule (too sweet didn't love), and lava flow (had better at cheap tiki bars on the island). IMO food is somewhat fairly priced especially for lunch (dinner cost significantly more for the same menu items), but drinks are on the pricier side. It matches the vibe, obviously, but I'd rather spend it somewhere else. If you come from CA or NY, I would keep the expectations low, and you might be pleasantly surprised.

After coming down from hiking all day I just wanted a quick plate lunch. Found Hali'imaile General Store on yelp and thought I'd give it a try. (I didnt look at the reviews or pics) In my mind I was thinking "General Store" kind of food which to me are hamburgers and plate lunches. HAHA! To my surprise it was a little elevated. I felt bad walking in there dressed as I was but, it was still comfortable. The service was great from being greeted at the entrance to my server, a local guy who was super nice and friendly. I ordered the "Buratta Beet Salad" which was AMAZING! The beets, tomatoes, pesto and balsamic glaze made such a great combination. I should have ordered 2 (yes it was only me). Also ordered the Macadamia Nut Crusted Mahimahi. The fish was cooked perfectly but, to me the sweet potato mash, lilikoi sauce and pineapple salsa didn't go well with the fish. Well, not to my liking. The crispy onions seemed stale also. Parking is limited but adequate. The sign there is a little intimidating tho. Says park at your own risk (or something like that). Other than my disappointment with the main course it was a good experience.

What a shame we came here still full from breakfast! Our family vacation in Maui involved a lot of sightseeing and eating, we should have given ourselves a bigger break so we could enjoy this place to the fullest! First off, the location is very unique and quaint. I grew up in Oahu in a plantation village so seeing a business stick to the plantation theme y keeping the original building was surprising, but I love that it pays homage to the history of Hawaii. The inside has been modernized but the surrounding areas with the rocky parking area reminds you that you're still in the country. For food, because we weren't all that hungry we just split a couple of main dishes and sides; we also had to keep it light because breakfast was so heavy. The pizza, fish, and salads were all great combos proving that the food is great from appetizer to main dish and they seem to paid well no matter what combo you get. Service was also fast and gracious. We got to meet the owner and although it was busy our food and waters were taken care of fast. I was surprised to find out they close mid-day for lunch, wish we could have come back for the dinner menu! Everyone at the bar in the afternoon looked like they were enjoying their time and there was a mix of locals and tourists alike. What would you consider us if we just came in from Oahu? Either way, this is a must-try on your next trip to Maui.

Nice spot to grab lunch after the pineapple tour. We couldn't get a reservation so we decided to walk in. We did get seated right away around 1:30. We ordered the Ahi poke, crab pizza, fish and chips, teriyaki burger and chicken sandwich. Everyone liked their food but the crab pizza was most notable, it was so tasty and creamy. The poke was delicious and a good portion. Kalai our server was friendly and took good care of us. I loved the plantation look inside the restaurant and the bathrooms were super clean here.

What a gem! My husband and I could not find Maui gold pineapples anywhere so what better place than the actual farm. So after we stocked up for our road to Hana trip and some extra at the hotel we walked a few steps to this cute General store to grab a snack. This is a full restaurant, not a store. They have window seating, a bar and seating in the back of the restaurant too. Super cute Hawaiian themed music. The menus had everything from appetizers to salads and fish and chips etc. I ordered a Chinese chicken salad and my husband got a Cobb salad. We were not greeted right away, stood at the hostess stand and people passed us by then a 3rd lady greeted us. She asked us if we had a reservation, which we did not, and she sat us right away, in the back. Our server came up right away and gave us a water carafe. The salads were big servings and were the best salads we ever had. They offered dessert but we were stuffed. Would highly recommend!!! And we will def be back.

Beautiful venue, plates have a lovely presentation, food is fresh, BUT... service is average and so is the food taste. For the price, it is not worth a meal. Have a drink, maybe share an appy, and move on. 4 of us had supper, none were very satisfied. Literally hit 7-11 in Kahului for manapua and sui mai right after. Crab pizza was OK, but not brilliant. Canned crab and cream cheese spread, maybe goat cheese. Tasty but not rocket surgery, yet still the best thing we ordered. My brother ordered the poké bowl. Poké was nothing special, but the rice was served cold and thus somewhat hard, very off-putting. The chef's special chopped kale salad was a total fail. Maybe kale and pineapple don't mix well, the whole salad just tasted sour. The roasted beets offered some balance but overall the salad was overwhelmed by the clash of flavours. The radish and pickled onion were totally lost, muted by everything else. It was like they took a normal salad and threw a bunch of poorly ripened pineapple in there. Yuck. Service was not friendly, bordering on annoyed. Dropped off the bill without asking us if we were done or how we'd like to split the bill. A smile didn't even crack her face the whole time, despite automatic gratuity. No Aloha spirit here at all, even though most patrons are higher-spending Haole mainlanders. The cocktails are worth it, would recommend those but that's it. The Lemongrass Ginger Frost in particular was so refreshing, a burst of bright flavour, wonderful. Don't feel like you've missed out if you skip this place. Bit of a tourist trap.

We arrived a little early for our reservation at a table in the back room, but were seated immediately and our server, Rocco, greeted us pretty quickly to take our orders. He was polite and attentive all through the appetizers and main course. We ordered the ceviche and mochiko ahi bites to start and Bangers and mash (substitute rice) and Kalo burger with regular fries for entrees. We opted for non-alcoholic drinks since I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and my husband can't drink. Everything was made to perfection and we were very pleased. Then we ordered dessert and the experience changed. We decided on the yuzu cheesecake and the chocolate torte with a scoop of ice cream. Then we waited and waited and waited. After about 1/2 hour of watching our server go from table to table, we flagged down the hostess and let her know our situation and asked for the desserts to go and the check. About 5 minutes later, Rocco shows up with our desserts on plates, without the check or an acknowledgement of the time we waited. It was such an unfortunate way to end an otherwise lovely evening together. At the very least, we could have gotten an apology. At the best, comping the desserts would have left a better taste in our mouths. We may or may not return next year for our anniversary celebration.

It's cool up there, and it adds to the cozy, Upcountry vibe. Marlow is a lively spot with an open kitchen that makes the whole experience feel energetic and welcoming. Definitely make a reservation. We ran into a delay getting up the hill due to a downed utility pole and messaged through the OpenTable app. Eden, who was hosting that night (and we later learned also serves), immediately called us, walked us through the menu, and even got our order started so we wouldn't hold up service. She was incredibly knowledgeable and set the tone for the evening with genuine hospitality. At the bar, Jesse, our bartender, took great care of us. From the drink menu, he made an excellent Black Cherry Manhattan with Burning Chair bourbon, Cocchi di Torino, cherry, and Angostura bitters--smooth, balanced, and delivered tableside. We also enjoyed a bottle of Gamay wine, which paired beautifully with the food and rounded out the meal. For dinner: * Mafaldine Bolognese (Lopes Farm beef, gremolata, parm - dinner only) was rich and comforting. My wife loved it. * Steak Tagliata (horseradish crème fraîche, herb verde - dinner only) was cooked perfectly and full of flavor--my dad cleaned his plate. * I had the Funghi white pie with local mushrooms, mozzarella, garlic confit, and parmigiano, and it was outstanding--earthy, balanced, and satisfying. Dessert capped things off nicely, and by the end of the night we were happily full. A special shoutout to Kira, our server--kind, fun, and professional. It was neat finding out she's also a Maui High grad, from a different generation, but with that same local pride and warmth that makes dining in Hawaiʻi special. Big mahalo to the kitchen crew--you can feel the care and teamwork in every dish. Payment was easy using Toast, which we appreciated. All around, Marlow delivers thoughtful food, great cocktails, and genuine hospitality. It's wonderful to have a fun, lively, open-kitchen restaurant in Upcountry Maui. We'll absolutely be back.

This was about 6:00 pm for dinner. The vibe is casual but trendy. A buzz of activity was going on. Everything we tried was just bursting with flavors! We started out with the meatballs which were as good as grandma's, who made the best, of course. I would categorize them as "Memorable Meatballs". The sauce that came with them (2 of them) was perfect in every way. The chopped salad was large enough for three people and was fresh and delicious. The dressing was a great complimentary addition to the greens. The braised pork pizza was over the top good. Just the right amount of char on a sourdough crust and a sauce that was just full of flavor. The Lilikoi butter provided a bright spot on the tomato palate. This I believe, helps make this pizza unique. The prawns were large and you get six. They tasted great , soaked in chimichurri . They would be perfect with just a little less salt and a bit more garlic. Mushrooms in crème fraiche, just outstanding. Note that the emphasis is on the sauce, not the mushrooms. For dessert was the gelato with fennel pollen, honey, olive oil, and sea salt. This is an absolute must to try, it's divine. The Panna cotta is rich and silky, nicely done. There is a decorative crumble on top that adds a little crunch and gives the dish a good presentation. There are some sweet floral notes in the custard, most likely cardamom. The ginger fizz drink is very good with a nice ginger kick without tasting like ginger ale. A well constructed mocktail. The vibe in the morning is about a 180 degree turn about. There is no table service, not busy enough. Order at the counter. The cheerful night time ladies have been replaced by a solitary glum teen who is not happy and maybe don't even like the people she has to deal with in the morning. She is efficient though. Nevertheless, the quiche was great. Great flavor, great crust, interesting top glaze that was different from any I've seen. The latte featured the same topping of fennel pollen, etc. that was on the gelato last night. Pretty amazing version of a latte. My suggestion, to make it perfect, is to order it with an extra shot in a large ceramic cup. The bathroom here is clean and I never encountered a line.
