They were having a 20% off kamaaina day so we decided to take advantage of the offer. The restaurant used to be a plantation store so the decor inside is a reminder of that. The items displayed on the shelves are for sale. The service here is stellar! We started with Passion Berry Iced Tea and Crab Pizza. The Crab Pizza has a creamy crab topping on a homemade crust. It reminds me of crab dip with pita bread- so yummy! The iced tea is fruity, really refreshing, and includes refills. For dinner we ordered the Prime Rib special and Korean BBQ Braised Short Rib. Both were served with garlic mashed potatoes and veggies. The Prime Rib was 14oz and cooked perfectly. The Short Rib was fork tender and well seasoned. I hope they offer Kamaaina deals more often!

It was our first time here and we will most certainly be back. Not only was each entree beautifully plated, but the taste was 10/10. Service was exceptional and our food arrived quickly.

Great place to dine for special occasion. They serve lunch and dinner. Our server Iaan was very friendly and helpful. Ambiance is nice. There are two places for seating. They have a front and back area. There is also bar seating available. I usually like getting their fish dishes for dinner. The Caesar salad was delicious too and my mom enjoyed her onion soup. The margarita was one of the best we had. I definitely recommend it!

This place offers some freshly made food with good quality ingredients. We ordered the market fresh fish (daily catch), and free other seafood entrees. Everything was good but the portion size was small for the price. The service was good and overall we had a good experience.

Visiting Maui for the first time and stopped by Hali'imaile General Store for lunch on a Tuesday around noon. I ordered the Soup of the Day (tomato basil) and grilled mahi-mahi. The soup was lukewarm and forgettable. The mahi-mahi was fine with rice, but nothing memorable. The major issue: a chicken sandwich at our table was served with clearly burnt buns -- blackened edges on both halves. It was obvious before it even hit the table. This could've been a 3-star visit, but serving visibly burnt food without acknowledgment or replacement shows poor quality control. Disappointing experience. Cannot recommend.

After my fav fine dining restaurant Lahaina grill closed after the fire and being disappointed by mama's fish house, I'm in dire need to find a nice restaurant in Maui to splurge for. This place is....alright. For the price, quality, freshness, drink selections, and attentive service, I was happy enough to return. It's no Lahaina grill, but unlike most places in Maui which are expensive tourist traps, here you DO get what you pay for. And I'm happy with that. Everything is made well. Nothing mind blowing, but solid and tasty. Portion is generous. Drinks - tried mai tai (prefer monkey pod), Maui mule (too sweet didn't love), and lava flow (had better at cheap tiki bars on the island). IMO food is somewhat fairly priced especially for lunch (dinner cost significantly more for the same menu items), but drinks are on the pricier side. It matches the vibe, obviously, but I'd rather spend it somewhere else. If you come from CA or NY, I would keep the expectations low, and you might be pleasantly surprised.

After coming down from hiking all day I just wanted a quick plate lunch. Found Hali'imaile General Store on yelp and thought I'd give it a try. (I didnt look at the reviews or pics) In my mind I was thinking "General Store" kind of food which to me are hamburgers and plate lunches. HAHA! To my surprise it was a little elevated. I felt bad walking in there dressed as I was but, it was still comfortable. The service was great from being greeted at the entrance to my server, a local guy who was super nice and friendly. I ordered the "Buratta Beet Salad" which was AMAZING! The beets, tomatoes, pesto and balsamic glaze made such a great combination. I should have ordered 2 (yes it was only me). Also ordered the Macadamia Nut Crusted Mahimahi. The fish was cooked perfectly but, to me the sweet potato mash, lilikoi sauce and pineapple salsa didn't go well with the fish. Well, not to my liking. The crispy onions seemed stale also. Parking is limited but adequate. The sign there is a little intimidating tho. Says park at your own risk (or something like that). Other than my disappointment with the main course it was a good experience.

Cute spot with very nice lighting and a generous amount of seating. Our waiter was super friendly and had some great recommendations. I enjoyed my ribs with fries as well as some local beer. My father got the fish and was very happy with his lunch. Definitely for special occasions, but it was nice to try something new!

Friendly staff, delicious food, and a lovely ambiance. We ordered the pork belly bao buns, Caesar salad, market fish, teriyaki waygu burger, and for dessert banana cheesecake and pineapple upside down cake to go. It's a great spot and well worth the trip and cost.

WOW What a lovely meal!! Matt was an amazing server and took great care of my daughter and I. I'm not sure how I have missed this amazing restaurant for so many years? Do yourself a big favor and get your butt to Hali'imaile General Store Chef Rheyden Lagazo makes amazing things happen from the bounty of the island and ocean. What a shame we came here still full from breakfast! Our family vacation in Maui involved a lot of sightseeing and eating, we should have given ourselves a bigger break so we could enjoy this place to the fullest! First off, the location is very unique and quaint. I grew up in Oahu in a plantation village so seeing a business stick to the plantation theme y keeping the original building was surprising, but I love that it pays homage to the history of Hawaii. The inside has been modernized but the surrounding areas with the rocky parking area reminds you that you're still in the country. For food, because we weren't all that hungry we just split a couple of main dishes and sides; we also had to keep it light because breakfast was so heavy. The pizza, fish, and salads were all great combos proving that the food is great from appetizer to main dish and they seem to paid well no matter what combo you get. Service was also fast and gracious. We got to meet the owner and although it was busy our food and waters were taken care of fast. I was surprised to find out they close mid-day for lunch, wish we could have come back for the dinner menu! Everyone at the bar in the afternoon looked like they were enjoying their time and there was a mix of locals and tourists alike. What would you consider us if we just came in from Oahu? Either way, this is a must-try on your next trip to Maui.

Nice spot to grab lunch after the pineapple tour. We couldn't get a reservation so we decided to walk in. We did get seated right away around 1:30. We ordered the Ahi poke, crab pizza, fish and chips, teriyaki burger and chicken sandwich. Everyone liked their food but the crab pizza was most notable, it was so tasty and creamy. The poke was delicious and a good portion. Kalai our server was friendly and took good care of us. I loved the plantation look inside the restaurant and the bathrooms were super clean here.

This restaurant is located in a shopping center in Pukalani. The inside has a place to order along with a cooler and a display case full of baked goods. There is seating throughout the rest of the space with five four tops and bar seating for about seven more. For dinner on this evening I decided to go with the loco moco while my dad went with the Big Kahuna. The menu described mine as three hamburger patties smothered with house made brown gravy and topped with two eggs, and my dad's as a combo plate of mochiko chicken, hamburger steak, and Asian crusted ono. After placing our order they quoted us 15 to 20 minutes, so we sat at an empty table and waited. It only took about 10 minutes before our food was ready and we sat down to eat. As soon as my dad opened his meal I have to admit that I was jealous as it looked great. Thankfully my meal was absolutely amazing. The brown gravy was legit with a ton of flavor and I could not stop eating it. The burger patties were hot and seasoned well. The mac salad was also really good. My only complaint would be that the rice was a little sticky and made it hard to get everything out of the container. I was also able to try some of my dad's mochiko chicken and the breading had great flavor while the chicken inside was moist and juicy. My dad enjoyed everything on his plate as well, especially the ono. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. As a matter of fact, the next time my wife is on Maui with me this will be one of our first stops because that gravy was fantastic.

Food: We ordered the honey walnut shrimp, miso butterfish, garlic furikake fries, hamachi sashimi, garlic noodles, and crispy chicken. My favorite was the hamachi sashimi. What I enjoyed about this dish was the diced maui onion that offset the citrus from the ponzu. The flavors are light, and refreshing. The most disappointing was the crispy chicken. I thought it was too salty, but that's my preference and salt tolerance. The miso butterfish was also a great dish. The fish was buttery and flavored well. Not too saucy but the perfect amount of sauce. Service: Service is friendly, like most of the restaurants on Maui. The food was served in a timely manner. The ambiance is casual and felt like a bar restaurant. Overall, I'm not sure if I would return. After ordering 6-7 dishes, I wanted to be blown away by at least 4-5 of them, but that wasn't the case. The roast duck was really good actually. The general tsao's chicken and chicken lettuce was good, I've definitely been to other spots that were better but I don't have anything bad to say about it. What I really disliked about this place was the Seafood Bird's Nest. Initially, they thought I ordered a Seafood Delight, but my order was missing the noodles. But they basically just fried up some noodles real quick and threw it under. And that part wouldn't have been a problem for me, but it was honestly waaaay too salty (and I like really salty! so that says a lot to me) It was difficult to eat to be honest, but I of course didn't want to waste it. The seafood included 3 pieces of shrimp, about a stick of imitation crab meat, a couple small pieces of scallop, and A LOT of calamari pieces that were soooo tough to chew, we couldn't even really eat them! For the chicken lettuce, they gave us about 3 full pieces of lettuce that was cut up and then charged us $4.00 for more pieces of lettuce which is pretty pricey lol. The siu mai was mid.. but you get what you pay for. There was also a 3% additional kitchen surcharge which was weird...? Still not sure what that was for lol. And then on top of that there's another 3% charge if you use credit card, so just be aware of that. The service was fine, because there was basically no one else in the restaurant anyway. Also - my boyfriend told me they had no soap in the restroom at all which was inconvenient. Overall, the price of their food does not make sense for the level of quality. I wouldn't recommend to my peers to come here, except maybe just grab their roast duck to go.

Service aside, my husband and I decided to try a few different items, including the Szechuan garlic noodles, pickled cucumbers, aji tamago, and Lion's Mane salad. Went for lunch - would recommend their oxtail katsu and kulolo crunch for dessert. Great place for a quick lunch or dinner.

So I have been eating at OGO Since they were a lunch truck in Wailuku. Then when they moved…read moreupstairs from the bar in Wailuku and now in the new location. I like the new location definitely easier for people to get to as the last location was upstairs with no elevator. One thing that has not changed is the food is still just as good if not even better than before. On this trip we had the Lunch Special which was the Waygu loco moco that came with white rice and Mac salad and two eggs over easy. The Wagyu burgers were perfect not over seasoned and the eggs were perfectly cooked. Still runny on the inside. I had the mis fish which was an ahi today. I liked the fact that the Miso was not overwhelming they got them mix perfect and the broccoli was perfectly cooked and it came with a scoop of white rice. Everything was perfectly done and just the right amount of food. The price is still reasonable for the quality of the food you are getting and the service was great even though there was only one waitress and she was doing double duty as hostess. She was very pleasant and the service is some of the best I have had on Maui. I like how the new place has a nice local feel while having that new but welcoming aura. I will definitely be going back because I like to support local and these guys are making some great food for reasonable prices. I definitely recommend these guys and I will definitely be going back. So much more menu items to try.

This place has a cult-like following online and has been made popular by instagram influencers and…read moreReddit posters. So I was very curious if it would live up to the hype. So, We picked up food to take out for a picnic ahead of our drive to Hāna. The line was very long and was disrupting traffic flow in the parking lot. The food was very good. The chicken noodle platters were hearty and delicious. Perfectly cooked and full of flavor. This place is a must try if you are in Maui. Just plan and order ahead. This place is by the airport in a shopping center, not near the beach area!

I really wanted to love this place because I loved Sheldon on Top Chef…read more but...unfortunately...everything I tried was terrible. I tried teh Kau Kau Tin with pork belly and garlic noodles, the Spicy Chicken Sandwich, and a small mac salad. Generally, the Kau Kau Tin and the mac salad were utterly bland. The mac salad tasted of nothing. The garlic noodles in the Kau Kau tin also lacked flavor. The garlic noodle had the slightest of garlic taste. The pork belly was perfectly cooked and was the best part of the Kau Kau tin and I made sure to make each every piece of that. The Spicy Chicken sandwich was the most disappointing item I tried. The chicken patty was just a VERY FATTY piece of fried chicken. It was terrible. The texture shock alone from biting through crispy crust to gelatinous fat was shocking. But then, the chicken was not seasoned. It was a textural monstrosity that had no flavor. All in all, I'm glad I tried it. I will definitely try it again when back on the island in hopes that this was just a bad day.
