Happened to be driving by near lunch and we both thought fish sounded good. Husband tried the spicy fish and we both ended up agreeing that the regular had better flavor. I like hush puppies, these were pretty good! Coleslaw isn't soupy or too sweet and I liked the portion size. Our fries were okay. It's annoying to have to ask the cashier to refill your drink. They were nice about though. The interior is in bad need of a refresh, peeling wall paper and really dated artwork on the walls. read more

Just found Nat's in our drinks and food was horrible and cold and they were very rude

My sister and I tried this place while out here on business; and since we both love seafood, we was like let's go. So the customer service was great, everyone was nice, but they were definitely short staffed, like it was packed and they only had a few workers on staff, the lady said they been short for a long time. So the wait is long, but not the staff fault. The food was good, it should have been more crispier but other than that it was good, and tasted good. I will definitely comeback if I'm in the area. Normally I would not eat at a fast food place but I started coming here years ago as my mom liked it. I have to say they do a pretty good job for what they offer. The fish, chicken & coleslaw are consistently good. I tried something with shrimp tonight and it was just OK. The baked potato tasted old but I didn't say anything as I had plenty of food anyway. Wednesday nights feature "senior specials" and there was a pretty steady stream of people coming in throughout the time I was there. Every meal was delivered to guests dining in within just a couple of minutes. The most impressive thing for me was seeing how incredibly kind and polite young man behind the counter was. Updated 11/11/19. Big improvement! Pleasantly surprised and new management. Things are looking better here and a huge improvement in the employees. Highly recommend now! One of my guilty foods is deep fried seafood dinners, especially fish & chips. I live in New England, where there are an abundance of independent seafood shacks and clam stands, very fresh, but on the pricier side. Captain D's (not in New England) is a good place to go for fried seafood served fast and cheap! Captain D's is an older looking fast food restaurant with drive-thru offering a variety of seafood (mostly fried/breaded & battered) and chicken meals plus salads, sandwiches, sides, desserts (chocolate cake, cheesecake), Coke fountain drinks, and D's Sweet Tea. 3D Kids Meals also available here. The prices here are pretty reasonable with meals starting at $4.99. This restaurant chain has similar menu offerings to other fast casual seafood restaurant chains including Long John Silver's and Arthur Treacher's. While driving along US 71, I stopped off for a quick dinner at Captain D's in Harrisonville, which is a fast food seafood restaurant with drive-thru. For takeout, I decided to go with the Fish Shrimp & Crab Meal ($4.99 plus tax), which included two side choices (I chose fried okra and green beans). The food was ready to go quickly in under 5 minutes. The long piece of battered white fish was light and crisp on the outside (not too greasy) and very hot inside. The fried shrimp (4) were crispy. The hush puppies (2) balls were firm on the outside and not salty. The crab shell was filled with a soft seafood stuffing mixture. The breaded fried okra was standard, not too greasy. The green beans with small pieces of ham were very soft, similar to canned green beans. Overall, it was a good amount of fairly tasty food and variety for the small price, but nothing very fancy. read more

Very disappointing, the girl at the drive thru put our discount code in and the manager took it out. The fish was soggy and not at all crisp. Thw cole claw had an odd flavor not like we are used to from CD's. Hopefully they can get back to the standards that we have become accustomed to. read more

Sometimes it's really good and sometimes it's and other days it greasy gummy fries are nasty and it's just awful

We went inside to eat. The staff was friendly but the young girl at the counter wasn't very knowledgeable when I had asked her a question about the fish. Our food took 25 minutes to get to our table. The food was served hot and tasted good. It's just unfortunate that the service is so slow. I'm pretty sure they are short staffed which seems to be an issue at a lot of places. I can't give more than 3 stars because in my opinion fast food should be fast. read more

Good place to eat fish....it's the only fish I like. I wish we had a variety of "fish" restaurants. Our town could use more choices.

I visited Captain D's on a business trip and this was my first experience with any Captain D's location. I was hoping for something other than the salads I normally get at drive thru's when I am traveling so I looked at their menu ahead of time to see what healthy options they had. I would like to start by saying that I was pleased with their food and won't hesitate to select Captain D's again in my travels. This location had some incredibly helpful staff. They were friendly and welcoming. The reason for the low rating is despite the fact that the food was good, I worried the rest of my trip that I would have an emergency bathroom break due to the cleanliness of the restaurant. I was dripped on several times in the front and in the bathroom by leaking water. Either from the rain storm that just went through or from the air conditioner. The door was also open to the kitchen of which I got to see filthy counter tops near the prep station and debris all over the floor. I realize that they might have been busy but it only takes a minute to wipe down the counter top or sweep up papers and wrappings on the floor. Once the manager saw me looking, she was quick to close the door to the kitchen. The restaurant is in need of a really good cleaning and update. Like I said, I will visit a Captain D's again, I just hope for a cleaner or better maintained facility. read more

Older establishment that has seen better days but still fries up delicious seafood and chicken strips. I tried the Supreme Sampler (two pieces of chicken, fish, and hush puppies with four shrimp and two veggie sides) and my husband had the 4 Piece fish dinner with double fries. I though mine was very good: the fish looks smaller than Long John's but it is much denser and less breaded. The shrimp were small but tasty and I used the leftover remoulade sauce from the crab bites (limited time availability) I ordered (delish!) to add a little zing. The hush puppies were fine but I was too full to finish them. The green beans are seasoned with bacon bits so they were a yummy non-vegetarian veggie side but the broccoli had no seasoning so most was left in the cup. I plan on eating the chicken strips later because I am stuffed! Nice to come across a restaurant I hadn't see since the Tyler, TX one closed years ago. read more
