Lobster rolls are the bomb!!! This place is a diamond in the rough!! We were driving home from our trip and saw Captain D's and decided to stop. Sooo happy we did!! We both ordered lobster rolls and our order came with two small lobster rolls each, crispy fries, and delicious sweet tea!! I really enjoy fried anything and fried fish is a favorite!! We shared 12 fried shrimp and they were great as well. The batter is a little sweet but still great. They have lots of condiments: tarter sauce, ketchup, malt, special D sauce, honey mustard. We also shared a cheese cake. All this food for under $30!! Like a said, diamond in the rough. Fast, happy, courteous service. The gentleman that took our order was just fantastic and asked us if he could bring us anything else... this is a fast food location that feels like a mom and pop restaurant. Great job Captain D's can't wait to travel past your location again soon!!

If you enjoy the taste of food poisoning, this is the place for you! During a recent trip to Colorado, I visited this place with my best friend. I checked the Yelp reviews before coming in, and I cautioned him against it. But there's no arguing with some people, and I can't force intelligent decision making. So, off we went. We went through the drive-thru. The guy taking our order severely lacked a personality. He might as well have said, "get your shit and get out" as that's what his tone said. He also didn't know how to make change from a $20 bill. That should have screamed we were in trouble right there. But, I digress. I elected to eat at McDonald's, which was better, cheaper, and faster. That should tell you exactly how this disaster went. My best friend ordered the deluxe seafood platter. The description online says, "For the greatest seafood variety we combine two classic batter dipped fish fillets, four premium breaded shrimp, two seafood stuffed crab shells, hush puppies and your choice of two regular sides." This lovely description wasn't actually on the menu. I had to look it up online to find out what the hell he ordered. It wasn't exactly obvious when he opened the box. The fish was moderately edible. There was copious amounts of batter on the outside, and he picked off a ton. It was fried to an extra-crispy tempura-like texture. The shrimp he chewed a whopping three times before spitting it out. It had a very rubbery texture to it, and tasted like sour cat shit. The seafood stuffed crab shell (I didn't even know this was a thing until my trip here!) tasted like chewing on rubber, and felt springy. Like I could have thrown it across the room and it would have bounced when it landed on the floor, like a bouncy ball. I almost wanted to do this just to try it, except I wasn't in the mood to clean up the grease splatter when it was done. It smelled burnt and was covered in grease. If I hadn't gone online to find out exactly what he ordered, I wouldn't have been able to distinguish what this was. I thought it smelled like rotten fish that had been burnt. The cole slaw was actually the best part of his meal. Although it was clearly a commercial grade product that was store bought, so it was nothing to rave about. Just more edible than the rest of the crap in a box he ordered. The bread stick included in this meal was harder than a rock. I actually picked it up and hit my best friend on the hand with it. I could hear it hit him, it was that solid and tough. I wasn't about to attempt to bite into it, as I likely would have dislocated my jaw. He ordered this platter without hush puppies, asked for no malt vinegar, but wanted cocktail sauce and extra tartar sauce. It came without the hush puppies, copious amounts of malt vinegar, no cocktail sauce, and a moderate amount of tartar sauce. I mean, how hard is this to get right? All of these things are included, and I don't think it was too much information. It's not like he asked for specific amounts of items. But the cashier's attitude probably had something to do with it, not to mention he was busy having a panic attack over having to make change from a $20 bill. The time it took in the drive-thru wasn't all that long, maybe ten minutes. I mean, I was bored out of my mind, but sitting in the car with my bestie, I had some time for good conversation. If I had been on my own, I probably would have started debating the many ways to kill myself when I ran out of things to read on my phone. In comparison to other's wait times, it wasn't horrible. Would I return? Only if I suddenly find myself drunk, high, and retarded, all at the same time. Otherwise, I prefer not to die from food poisoning, or become deathly ill. So the answer is no. I would not return. The customer service is severely lacking. Wal-Mart greeters making minimum wage have more personality. I also prefer my food not to be swimming in grease and rotting for a week before I order it. I hate any kind of fast food or processed food these days, and the McDonald's I ordered was far better than anything I tasted on his platter. I'm honestly kind of amazed this place is still in business. Review 91 of 2017.

I was very pleasantly surprised the food was fresh and hot, and the food was great the only reason I didn't give it 5 Stars, was because the shrimp was a bit salty.

2 piece fish with hush puppies, okra, fries, and clams! Hot and scrumptious!

The smoky notes were present but not overpowering, and the nixta slate liqueurs, or heat and bitters brought everything together beautifully. I particularly enjoyed the restricted gates down by the washrooms. Our server was friendly and attentive but the restaurant seemed slightly short staffed. A great selection of beers. Our food was very good. I was surprised at how salty the bun was on my veggie burger sandwich but it was still salty in a good way. The food took longer than average to come out, and that's the reason for the 4 out of 5 stars. We waited over 30 minutes for the food, and it didn't seem particularly busy, though the server seemed to be covering a lot of acreage with tables both inside and outside under her responsibility. She still did a great job, though. I look forward to stopping in again the next time we're passing through town.

I absolutely loved the scotch eggs! I skipped the Reuben bombs since I'm not a big Swiss cheese fan, but everyone else at the table really enjoyed them. I ordered the Jameson meatloaf with mashed potatoes and veggies, and it was amazing -- full of flavor and cooked perfectly. My husband and son both got the fish and chips and couldn't stop talking about how good they were. My daughter loved the kids hamburger, especially the potato chips/fries that came with it. The atmosphere was awesome, the service was top notch, and my husband and I both enjoyed a refreshing beer with lunch. I don't think there was anything wrong with the cook of the food, but the seasonings were just way off base to me. The Corned Beef was slathered with a Mustard Crème sauce that should have been served on the side. Some may like it, others will hate it. I didn't care for it. Cabbage seemed to be braised in a heavy Cayenne Pepper broth. It was inedible. The Champs were so bland that you had to shake the hell put of the Salt and Pepper. The Corned Beef without the Mustard sauce was actually pretty good, but so much was slathered with the mustard sauce that it just isn't worth ordering. Bottom line, here is how it breaks down: Service: 5/5. The bartender tonight was exceptional! Food: 3/5 at best due to the second entree ordered (fish & chips) being REALLY GOOD. Overall: 4-5*. The Fish & Chips saved this entire meal. There are a number of things to order from the menu at the bar. Obviously I would stay away from the CB, but I would definitely recommend the fish and chips! When I come back to Pueblo, I would definitely consider coming back here.

We were thrilled that Pueblo actually got one earlier this years. This is our first time dining at this location since their 'pre-opening' test opening. We have been hearing rumours about service issues. It was time to check it out. This is our experience: We walked in at early supper hour, The room was about 60% full. It seemed they might have been a bit short staffed. We went for their AYCE Friday fish feed. Upon inquiry, it turned out that the fish offered for AYCE is pollock, whereas that in their regular fish and chips menu offering is cod. We elected to have the fish and chips, which is actually a dollar less costly. They messed up the order, sadly. We received the pollock plate with two pieces. Turned out, our server must have grabbed the wrong plates, as the manager told us that our order sat on the counter for 30 minutes unclaimed. My wife had requested hash browns, but her plate came with fries, mine did also, despite having substituted a salad for them. The salad did come and was a decent size for a side salad. Strangely, since we got the 'AKCE' plate, which was supposed to have hushpuppies, we didn't receive those. The fish was well prepared, for what it was, but it was not cod. Coleslaw was included. I found it OK; Angelika didn't like it because it essentially had no dressing. We decided to have dessert. The mixed berry cobbler was passable. Crust was top only, nicely baked; the filling was kind of.... OK: standard canned or frozen pie filling. I ordered a chocolate malt. It was satisfactory. Plenty of it and had good chocolate and malt flavor. Our server, Erica, was pleasant, friendly and attentive, despite bringing the wrong plates. It seemed that she was probably handling too many tables, however. Service time from entry to receiving our meals was pretty standard, so no complaints about that. Upon paying, we happened to talk a bit with a woman who seemed to be the manager. She told us about the apparent error in our order. We mentioned that we are both veterans and she gave us their discount, plus comping some of the price of the meal, probably because of the error. We love Black Bear diner. We want to see our local restaurant succeed. So, give it a try, because they do seem to be working on meeting Black Bear's standards.

I've been here 3 times, and each time has been bad. Pros: I always get seated right away because no one is here. That's it. Cons: Rude service. The servers act like they don't want to be there. They are always out of what seems like half the menu. The juices are watered down. Luckily only once, but the hash browns were so overcooked I asked for less cooked ones and got soggy hashbrowns. It's a shoot to see if they have food on hand. You never see a manager walking around. The manager doesn't know how to prepare for the day's food. Always shorthand. Recommended? No. Village Inn and Cracker Barrel has better food and you know the menu will be stocked. I'm done coming here.
