Customer service Madison said she's the store manager. I ordered on the app, I picked up my order at the drive thru, I got home and no tartar sauce. I called and asked if I could get the meal replaced as it'll be cold by the time I get back with the sauce, she said no. You can call the owner in the morning and she'll tell you the same thing. For a fast food place, it was extremely slow. The kids manning the register were very absent-minded. They kept asking the same questions again and again. When we came, there were about 3-4 people waiting for takeout orders and at least 3 occupied tables. We were not told that the kitchen was running behind so it could be a while. After waiting a good 20 mins, I went up to the register to see what was going on and was told that the kitchen was swamped and had missed a bunch of orders. It would be another 15 mins. The only person who seemed to be doing anything, was the manager. At this point, those kids were just standing around talking amongst themselves. At about 35 mins past time, the manager came and said she would refund our money but then we also got our food. What was the food? Lobster rolls, 5 little fried shrimps and funnel cake fries. The only reason I give this place two stars is those lobster rolls which were actually very tasty. The shrimp was also good. I personally don't like funnel cake fries but my friend liked them. We are not coming back. These guys need to sort their kitchen and staff out. read more

Frustrating Experience and Poor Customer Service We're regular customers at the Pueblo Captain D's, but this last visit was disappointing. We ordered a 2pc Fish & Shrimp Meal and a $5.99 Fish & Shrimp Meal. When we got home, both meals were the $5.99 version--missing fish, shrimp, and a side we paid for. After five unanswered attempts--each letting the phone ring at least 15 times--someone finally picked up around 8:30 PM. When I finally reached the manager, Louis, and explained the situation he was dismissive and silent for long stretches. I explained the issue, and before I could finish saying we wouldn't be returning, he hung up. When I called back to ask for the owner's name, I was hung up on again. Mistakes happen, but the lack of professionalism and care made it clear that customer satisfaction is not a priority here and ensures we won't be back. read more

Lobster rolls are the bomb!!! This place is a diamond in the rough!! We were driving home from our trip and saw Captain D's and decided to stop. Sooo happy we did!! We both ordered lobster rolls and our order came with two small lobster rolls each, crispy fries, and delicious sweet tea!! I really enjoy fried anything and fried fish is a favorite!! We shared 12 fried shrimp and they were great as well. The batter is a little sweet but still great. They have lots of condiments: tarter sauce, ketchup, malt, special D sauce, honey mustard. We also shared a cheese cake. All this food for under $30!! Like a said, diamond in the rough. Fast, happy, courteous service. The gentleman that took our order was just fantastic and asked us if he could bring us anything else... this is a fast food location that feels like a mom and pop restaurant. I was thrilled to see that I could have a fast food meal with vegetables instead of fries, so I ordered butterfly shrimp with broccoli and coleslaw. Coleslaw was good, broccoli good, hush puppies good, shrimp WORST IVE EVER EXPERIENCED. They looked good, they were crispy, but they were void of any flavor at all. If I were blindfolded and you put one in my mouth, I would only be able to tell that it's crispy breading and a lot of salt. I would never even guess that it was shrimp. I even removed the breading on one and the shrimp inside tasted like unflavored gelatin. I would've thought it impossible, but they were able to make shrimp inedible. read more

If you enjoy the taste of food poisoning, this is the place for you! During a recent trip to Colorado, I visited this place with my best friend. I checked the Yelp reviews before coming in, and I cautioned him against it. But there's no arguing with some people, and I can't force intelligent decision making. So, off we went. We went through the drive-thru. The guy taking our order severely lacked a personality. He might as well have said, "get your shit and get out" as that's what his tone said. He also didn't know how to make change from a $20 bill. That should have screamed we were in trouble right there. But, I digress. I elected to eat at McDonald's, which was better, cheaper, and faster. That should tell you exactly how this disaster went. My best friend ordered the deluxe seafood platter. The description online says, "For the greatest seafood variety we combine two classic batter dipped fish fillets, four premium breaded shrimp, two seafood stuffed crab shells, hush puppies and your choice of two regular sides." This lovely description wasn't actually on the menu. I had to look it up online to find out what the hell he ordered. It wasn't exactly obvious when he opened the box. The fish was moderately edible. There was copious amounts of batter on the outside, and he picked off a ton. It was fried to an extra-crispy tempura-like texture. The shrimp he chewed a whopping three times before spitting it out. It had a very rubbery texture to it, and tasted like sour cat shit. The seafood stuffed crab shell (I didn't even know this was a thing until my trip here!) tasted like chewing on rubber, and felt springy. Like I could have thrown it across the room and it would have bounced when it landed on the floor, like a bouncy ball. I almost wanted to do this just to try it, except I wasn't in the mood to clean up the grease splatter when it was done. It smelled burnt and was covered in grease. If I hadn't gone online to find out exactly what he ordered, I wouldn't have been able to distinguish what this was. I thought it smelled like rotten fish that had been burnt. The cole slaw was actually the best part of his meal. Although it was clearly a commercial grade product that was store bought, so it was nothing to rave about. Just more edible than the rest of the crap in a box he ordered. The bread stick included in this meal was harder than a rock. I actually picked it up and hit my best friend on the hand with it. I could hear it hit him, it was that solid and tough. I wasn't about to attempt to bite into it, as I likely would have dislocated my jaw. He ordered this platter without hush puppies, asked for no malt vinegar, but wanted cocktail sauce and extra tartar sauce. It came without the hush puppies, copious amounts of malt vinegar, no cocktail sauce, and a moderate amount of tartar sauce. I mean, how hard is this to get right? All of these things are included, and I don't think it was too much information. It's not like he asked for specific amounts of items. But the cashier's attitude probably had something to do with it, not to mention he was busy having a panic attack over having to make change from a $20 bill. The time it took in the drive-thru wasn't all that long, maybe ten minutes. I mean, I was bored out of my mind, but sitting in the car with my bestie, I had some time for good conversation. If I had been on my own, I probably would have started debating the many ways to kill myself when I ran out of things to read on my phone. In comparison to other's wait times, it wasn't horrible. Would I return? Only if I suddenly find myself drunk, high, and retarded, all at the same time. Otherwise, I prefer not to die from food poisoning, or become deathly ill. So the answer is no. I would not return. The customer service is severely lacking. Wal-Mart greeters making minimum wage have more personality. I also prefer my food not to be swimming in grease and rotting for a week before I order it. I hate any kind of fast food or processed food these days, and the McDonald's I ordered was far better than anything I tasted on his platter. After the 2020 Mother's Day Red Lobster Fiasco, we decided to try Captain D's for the first time. It was super busy, so the drive thru was pretty slow, but due to COVID, there is no dine in service. Food was hot, fish was crispy, fried clams were good. I wanted more tartar sauce, only got 2 cups per meal. Green beans were a bit....off. I've been going to this Captain D's for a few years and this ship is always packed! For a good reason too! I always order the fish and clams and the location is well managed and clean compared to some of the other Captain D's in the state. We came in at 10:00 PM and although you could tell they were starting to get ready to close, we were welcomed in and given really fresh food. If I could give Captain Ds a negative rating, I would. I've never been to a Captain Ds before and only went because I had a coupon for $5 off a meal for my birthday. I ordered the chicken dinner. The chicken tasted okay. I'd compare it to McDonald's chicken selects. That was the highlight of the meal. The negative points are as follows: - When I ordered my meal (which was $6.99) I was not asked what sides I wanted. When I asked if it came with sides, I was told that it usually comes with fries and cole slaw. I don't like cole slaw, so I asked if other options were available. The woman pointed to a list, from which I chose fries and macaroni and cheese. I also ordered a small drink. It was $1.39 for what I believe was 16 oz. - I waited nearly 15 minutes for my food. That's a really long time for a fast food joint. - When my meal was ready, the woman forgot my drink. I had to stand at the counter for 1 - 2 minutes waiting for someone to notice me standing there and get me the drink I paid for. - Once I got to the table I took a bite of my macaroni and cheese. It was COLD! Not lukewarm -- COLD! I brought my plate back up the counter, waited another 1 - 2 minutes for someone to notice me, and explained that my macaroni and cheese was cold. No apology was offered. The lady just took my plate and called back to someone in the kitchen to "nuke" the plate. A few minutes later I was handed back my plate. It had surely been microwaved; the shriveled, waxy looking macaroni and cheese proved it. - Upon trying to eat the warm macaroni and cheese, I learned it was inedible. I can't quite place it, but it tasted old and like someone dumped a tub of black pepper in the macaroni and cheese. - After being microwaved, the french fries were waxy and not appealing at all. - When I went to the counter to ask for a refill of my drink, I witnessed the cashier give a man his order. There was a piece of fish missing, so with her bare hands she took a piece of fish from a man in the kitchen and placed it in the customer's fish basket. Hygiene, anyone?! The cashier deals with money all day! Money is one of the dirtiest items on the face of the planet! - The next time I went to the counter to get a drink refill the lady overfilled my cup, spilling soda on the cup itself and on the counter. I asked for a napkin to clean up the mess and she simply used a wet rag to clean the counter. I then asked for a napkin to clean the cup, pointing out that soda had spilled all over the outside of the cup. She just tossed me the rag. - Every time I asked for a drink refill I used good manners. Y'know, the ones we all learned in preschool about using please and thank you. When I asked if she would please give me a refill, she said "Mmhmm." When she took my cup I thanked her and she replied "Uh huh." When she gave me back the refilled cup I thanked her again, to which she finally uttered the words "No problem." Overall, I'd say the food was awful, the service was horrendous, and someone from the health department needs to watch these people for a day and tell them not to touch someone else's food with bare bands that you just used to count dirty money or clean the counter! McDonald's is better. WAY better. If you want fish, order their fish filet. Not only is McDonald's food cheaper, but it's hot and tastes better. read more

It's a fast food fish restaurant. No, you can't expect fancy dishes here. You won't pay as much for the food as a fancy restaurant, either. It's a place to go and get fried fish and enjoy it for a decent price. We go there a lot (once every 6 weeks or so) when we're in town. We seldom go to any other restaurants when we're there, because we can't get seafood where we live. The restaurant is clean, the staff is friendly and attentive and the food is very good. We usually get the Seafood Feast (fish, shrimp, crab cakes, hush puppies, fries and a veggie side), eat some of it there, then bring the rest of it home with us. Our boys take care of the leftovers and they really love it. This place is a bit puzzling to find the first time, but it is just off the interstate and US 50 and the clientele might be considered geriatric, but the food is good and a family could get there easily on your way through. We also just like fish & chips and would go somewhere else if we wanted to pay more and get fancy dishes. It's the only fast food fish restaurant in Pueblo, too. The price is good for what you get. The employees are usually pretty happy, but there have been a few times when they're a bit snippy. Some of the best fish we have in Pueblo, but then again some of the only fish we have here. The food here is always hot and fresh and the place is usually quite clean. The service can be a bit slow at times but the staff are generally friendly and helpful. The food isn't outstanding or particularly memorable; after all, it's just fast food, but I've never had a bad meal here. However, first time patrons be warned: the owner/manageress is ALWAYS on duty and she watched everything with the eyes of a hawk. She must be there from the moment the place opens to the moment they lock the doors for the night. I wouldn't be surprised to drive by the place at 2 a.m. and see her standing there at the register. One time I forgot my photo ID and she wouldn't take my credit card for a lousy $10 purchase! She said, "Well, it's for your own security," but I don't understand why an identity thief would steal a credit card and then go buy fast food fish with it. In Pueblo, Colorado, of all places.
