In short, this is currently my favorite pizza place in town and their "classic" pizza is the best pizza in the AV in my opinion. This place has been through some ownership/management changes and starting around the end of 2014 has just been getting better and better. I'd really only recommend them for delivery or pick-up, since there isn't much room inside to sit. And this is where the seriousness ends. Its in an older, kind of bad part of town - right next to a smoke/head shop - but what a great place to have a pizza shop -- AMIRITE? On the way in, I am frequently asked for change and cigarettes by people in the parking lot, but I don't blame the Captain for that. This place is run by really friendly, nice people. They are always more than happy to accommodate any of my weird requests. One time, their driver Codi showed up to my house wearing nothing but shaving cream with flowers, just because it was my birthday. Another time, I had lost my D10 die and they added one as an extra topping just because I cried about it on the phone to them. They have another driver named Don that knows how to play kazoo, and loves cat memes - so he draws me pictures of rainbow brite cats and stuff with milk! Too Cutesorz! They have really good pizza with crappy service. I recently visited and no one greeted me at all and there were more than 3 staff there, it was extremely hot outside and hot inside the restaurant too so when I finally asked if they could take my order so I could go outside to breathe bc it was so hot inside the young man said he couldn't take my order and to wait for someone else. We found Captain Tony's when we moved here 6 years ago. We fell in love with the Cattlemen. It was a treat for us to get it because of the price but it was worth every penny because it was loaded with toppings. Tonight I ordered our usual XLarge Cattlemen and an Antipasto salad. We were so excited to get it. It took over an hour to get here and we live less than 3 miles from there. It's Friday, it's busy, that's fine. She finally gets here and our box is crushed, the pizza is cold and there were less toppings than a Pizza Hut pizza. At least the salad was still good. It had more toppings than the pizza too. Would give zero stars. Called today at 8:50 pm and was told that if I wanted to order I would need to come before they close at 10:00. Was told that when customers come later they have to close later and they go over time. I was literally 5 minutes away from the pizza place. Was turned off by the comment. My babies are 8 and 10 and we have been coming here for years. You should've never let Jacob go. Lost a customer tonight... was even told that they shouldn't take calls after 9... yet it was 8:50... if you don't want any business that is fine with me. Well, for the second time we have thoroughly enjoyed Captain Tony's pizza while having work done on our truck at a local stereo shop in Lancaster. They kept my contact info on file even though it has been several months since the last order. We ordered a large sausage and pepperoni with extra sausage and cheese to treat the two techs working on our truck. Again, I have the say this was without a doubt, the very best pizza I have ever had, and the topping portions were generous to begin with. Delivery was right on time and the staff is very polite and friendly. Price was very reasonable. This shop is DEFINITELY a great place to get really memorable and NON "factory" tasting pizza. read more

So im not sure why this place only has 3 1/2 stars because they are honestly SO GOOD! I only wish their website / menu was updated but I ended up just calling the man who answered was very friendly and let me know all the specials they had going on and he was just nice to talk to ! He let me know it would be an hour ish wait and it was a little less than an hour when the woman arrived , again super friendly staff she was amazing I wish I had more cash to tip her she was so nice! Let's get down to the food as someone who ran my own pizza restaurant here in the av for a couple of years id say this pizza was AMAZING it was nice fresh and warm still ! The ingredients were really good quality nice stretchy cheese and delightful sausage, bacon, and pepperoni . 10 out of 10 stars, I also got the small pizza for my step daughter and she loved it , as well as a 10 piece garlic parm wings which were yummy!! I'm not sure why, but my husband created a whole series of commercials for these guys. Each episode (?) would feature a different profession which used the Captain rank: army, navy (pirates!), police, fire, aviation, mafia... you get the picture. As we stood around the kitchen eating the pizza, cheesy sticks, and garlic bread, he regaled me with the plot line for the fire captain episode. The captain had a huge mustache and I don't really remember the rest. As for the pizza, it was pepperoni and I thought it was tasty enough. I thought the garlic bread was pretty bad. And the cheesesticks I didn't touch. One of those gave my husband heartburn. So I don't think he'll be scripting any commercials for them in the future. read more

Normally, I adore Captain Tony's pizza. They're pizza is soft, never too hot or cold, so cheesy, and just the perfect amount of sauce. However, I am saddened to say that I may never order from this place again out of sheer annoyance that this place does not deliver to West Lancaster, and decided to tell me that 15 minutes after I placed my order and ran my card-- even though I ordered from East J location about 2 weeks ago and they delivered it. Plus, it is not listed on the menu/ad I was given when my pizza was delivered that they have delivery restrictions. Nor is it listed online. (At least, not that I could find.) Mind you, the kid who answered the phone was nice, and informed me that I should order from the Quartz Hill shop-- however, since the change of management at the Quartz Hill location, I've noticed that their pizza was not good and it was burned. And, surprisingly, this location on East Avenue J tastes so much better and is exactly how I'm used to. (I say this because I used to order from QH frequently, and the last 3 times/orders since the change, the pizza was not good.) In conclusion, had someone verified that my order could not be delivered before I got off the phone, I would not be as disappointed in the lack of cheesy goodness in my life as I am now. Heck, if they would have just delivered it like they did with me 2 weeks ago, and kindly informed me that they could no longer deliver in my area, I wouldn't be mad at all. It's good customer service to just follow through with an order-- especially if it isn't verified by the manager before finishing the transaction-- than to call up a customer 15 minutes later and say "By the way, we have to cancel your order. Stumbled onto this place while visiting another store it caught my eye because they had a special on the window. It was a cheese pizza large for 7.99, I place my order and went back outside because it was hot. I walked back in to pick up my order and immediately was greeted with smiles. Ordered pizza and sides for 8 people and of all the things to forget, they forget the Pizza. Called in and spoke to the manager and he told me to start eating and they'll deliver it in 30 minutes. Bread sticks and 10 hot wings aren't really a meal for 8 people. And eating cold sides with my forgotten pizza is a better option for him.
