Yum! I can't turn down BBQ any time of the day. The restaurant is located off of A1A and you go up to the counter to order. You can either sit inside or outside or take it to go. The three St. Louis rib lunch was the bomb! I got macaroni and cheese and corn with it. The sauce on the ribs was finger licking good and I would get the same meal if I go there again. The line moved at a steady pace and we got our order in a reasonable amount of time. You get your own condiments, silverware, wipes, etc. at the counter and can get something from the counter if you need something else. The only thing I regret not getting is a dessert!

What a perfect Friday afternoon! It was surprisingly not busy, and the weather was absolutely beautiful. I really enjoyed the three-meat platter; it was incredibly tasty. Everything was just right, making for a delightful experience. I'd definitely recommend stopping by.

Food is excellent. New cashier in-training did great! Recommended by friends and they were right! Multiple people ate multiple meals. All were great! Good process for getting orders ready. We did not wait long once we ordered. It can get busy. Be patient. It is worth the wait. View of landing is good. Atmosphere is not their focus. Order. Get your drinks. Water outside. You grab your beverage, walk up to the counter, place your order and they call your name over a speaker from the dining area when your order is ready. They have condiments, utensils and water on the outside porch. The same people who call your name when your food is ready were also helpful with offering ice for drinks and they, and others, bus the tables when you're finished. We ordered the 1/2 chicken dinner $15.99 and the beef Brisket plate $16.99 (each plate comes with 2 sides). Portion were very generous for the prices but we found the meats to be a bit on the dryer side on our lunchtime visit. Food came out quickly, they have a small inside dining area and a larger screened room with more tables and a few fans for overflow.

We were leaving Fort Matanzas and asked where would be a good lunch place. Captains BBQ was the #1 recommendation, we were told the locals go there. We then decided to go to Washington Oaks state park and were really hungry afterwards so I did a quick search for reviews and headed for BBQ. When we arrived it felt like they built a park around the restaurant, it was cool and had seating outside too. We were lucky, only one couple was ahead of us but by the time we left the place they had a line of people. When you enter, you order, they ask your name and when it's called your meal is ready and you can eat inside or on the enclosed deck. We chose the deck for the view of the river. My friend got the BBQ sliders, comes with 3, and said they were delicious. My burnt ends were great and I didn't need to add BBQ sauce or anything. The potato salad was different than what I was use to but it was still good, I was pleasantly surprised. I don't like everyone's potato salad. The beet salad was basically beets with feta but it was good too. Totally worth going. When the manager stopped to ask f everything was good that was the cherry on top.

Love the view of the inter coastal and Good BBQ and Blues music. That's what Captains BBQ offers. They have great burnt ends that often sells out early. My wife and I split the trio sampler because she likes the smoked turkey and Cole slaw. I like the sweet BBQ on pulled pork and beef brisket sliders. We go here once a week. Try it...,

I ordered the burnt ends with smoked beans, mashed yams, cornbread and a link of sausage. The burnt ends were really good and moist. The smoked beans have a couple different types of beans with plenty of pork in them. The mashed yams were nice and sweet. The sausage was good and smoked with a good kick to it. The atmosphere is not very and laid back with boaters and fishermen coming in all the time. It's a great place to watch the boats and sunset. Service is great with quick order times and they are walking around making sure the customers are satisfied.

Stopped by Captains Bbq before going to fish market. It was very crowded but we were able to order and get seated quickly. We all ordered the burnt ends sandwich and sides of beet salad/feta cheese or baked beans. The food was great. Burnt ends were perfectly cooked.

Had early dinner on Friday afternoon (4/25/25) -- place closes at 7. Plenty of parking. Walk in and order (easy), find a table outside, wait for your name to be called with your food. I ordered a pulled pork plate (comes with 2 sides) with smoked beans (superb) and mashed yams (a bit sweet, still excellent); pork was fabulous. They offer three types of bbq sauces: regular, hot (not too) and tangy (very). Very informal atmosphere, with a view of the Matanzas River. This is the real deal. A big group of us had ordered family meals a few days ago, giving me a taste of several other offerings: ribs are magnificent, mac and cheese good; everything is good. Highly recommended.

Captain's BBQ had been on my list of places to try ever since I saw it described as having the "best pulled pork sandwich in Florida" on one of those "best in your state" lists that pop up on social media all the time, the ones that link to a website you've never heard of. It could be a pay-to-review site. It could have been written by AI. Or maybe it is legit. But it sounded like a cool place anyway, and it was under two hours from home, so I figured I would see for myself. One Friday afternoon when I had finished a job nearby, I drove up A1A to check it out. Being a little ways off the main tourist tracks, the place does have an Old Florida vibe. Palm trees and moss-draped oaks are scattered throughout the expansive dirt parking area. A county park next door, and the Intracoastal Waterway behind the restaurant add to the laid-back feel, inviting one to linger. I walked in the unadorned entrance to the nearly empty counter where orders are placed. Being the middle of the afternoon, there were only a few other customers. I wanted to try the pork, of course, but not wanting a sandwich, I chose to order the pulled pork plate instead, which came with two sides. After ordering, you are directed towards the back of the building where there is another counter to pick up your order. Just out the door from there is a good-sized screened in area where most of the seating is. It was a pleasant day, and the breeze, sunshine and water beyond made for a pretty relaxing atmosphere. I carried my Strofoam plate of pork accompanied by collard greens and cole slaw to a small table, stopping along the way for napkins, utensils and sauce. The review I had read mentioned "a range of homemade sauces", but what they actually have are gallon size jugs of three different Cattlemen's sauces- not a bad thing per se, but they definitely weren't homemade. There were a few smaller bottles of what may have been one type of house-made sauce that I did not try. It was good pork, and sauce wasn't a necessity anyway. However, most of the flavor came from a spice mixture that was applied after the pork had been cooked and pulled. The meat was tender and cooked to perfection, but even though it did appear to be smoked, the flavors usually imparted by smoking were hidden by the added seasoning. Still, it was enjoyable, especially paired with the creamy cole slaw. The collard greens had somewhat of a burnt taste, as if they had been cooked for a long time at a high temperature. They also appeared to have sausage mixed in, a bit of a twist on the usual ham or bacon. I was trying to tell if the unusual taste was just from a strong mixture of seasoning, or if they were actually burnt. I couldn't figure it out, but in any case, they weren't my favorite. I am afraid I can't completely agree with the exuberant praise of the piece I read. However, it was a decent bbq plate, served by friendy folks in a very pleasing setting. When I find myself nearby again, I will find my way here to sample more of the menu, and perhaps then update my rating.

In Palm Coast for a family vacation. Stopped at Captains hoping other reviewers would not steer us wrong. We were not disappointed! Really good BBQ! We ordered the ribs, pulled pork tacos and the kielbasa. Everything was tender and not too smokey...just really good food! read more

I'm not a huge fan of BBQ, but I *crave* the ribs at Captain's BBQ -- they are unbelievable. Great for the kids, too: Bings Landing has a nice playground and the boat ramp is nice to walk around & look for manatees. read more

This place is the shit! Great food - i love the pulled pork, ribs, and brisket. And the cheesecake is INSANE. They also have beautiful views, a peaceful setting, friendly staff, plenty of parking, and indoor/outdoor dining. Wifi is very fast here. read more

We looked tis place up on yelp while visiting Hammock Beach. The reviewers were right on. We pulled in and it is like a bait and tackle shop . Then the young man behind the counter hands us menus and we decide what to order. I ordered ribs and my wife had pulled pork and chicken. We then got a beer and a wine from the cooler and sat down on the aluminum tables and waited. They called our name and we were served on plastic trays and wax paper. Looks a little odd but then we started eating and it was fantastic! There's plenty of places to sit outside if you want right on the water. The night we were there a guitar player was entertaining on the screened in patio. Great place for a good meal and a few beers. read more

By far the best Rueben sandwich I've ever had. The brisket was so tender and juicy, and the portion was enough for two meals! The cheese cake was amazing too. I can't wait to go back for more. The atmosphere was super casual, there are picnic tables outside, as well as a boat launch and a great view of the river. read more

I don't know how in the world that this place rates more than a star. I've been to several BBQ restaurants and this one is the worst by far. I decided to take the trip to Captain's because of the good reviews. I find it hard to believe that the previous reviewers even ate here. The ribs were not tasty and did not fall off the bone. Mac and cheese was flavor less and the corn was tasteless. I expected a decent piece of cornbread but was fooled. I'm sorry but this place doesn't even rate one star. Save your money it's definitely not worth the trip. read more

Great food at a great price.The staff is hard working and welcoming. Family oriented and set right on the Intercoastal waterway. I never get tired of the food and the view. Great food with a great view. Came in with a few people and all ordered different sides to get a taste of the options. Everything was delicious and done very well. You walk in and place your order. Then you get your drink Then you find a table. They call you when your food is ready. They were super fast. My daughter said her ribs were very good but a tiny bit spicy. My pulled pork was good. Baked beans, yummy. Cole slaw and corn bread good too ( corn bread served cold). Big portions. Several sauce choices for pork. On the water so nice view. Inside or screened porch sitting. Reasonable prices. read more

I am in Florida for a mini vacation and my boyfriends family recommended this place, so I gave it a try. Being in a coastal area, I was skeptical of ordering BBQ rather than seafood. Boy was I wrong. This place was wonderful! The ribs fell off the bone, and were truly the best I've had to date. And their mustard based BBQ sauce was so good that I could have put it on just about anything. Mac and cheese was good as was potato salad. My only recommendation is to make sure to ask for extra sauce because they don't give you quite enough with takeout orders. Will be returning again on our next trip, without a doubt. read more

If you're looking for BBQ in Flagler County don't look anywhere else because they all suck. This place is crushing it. Get there at a decent time cause the line is long. It's not Franklin BBQ long but it's long but it's so worth it. And the sides are rocking as well. read more

By far my favorite BBQ stop in Florida. The food is fantastic and unique as much as BBQ can be unique. The Baked Beans are my favorite, I could eat them just by themselves. I recently had their Cuban Sandwich and it was one of the best I have had. Great food and I look forward to coming back to CaptBBQ soon. read more

This has got to be one of the best BBQ joints I've ever been to! The pulled pork sandwich is large enough that you have to get serious to finish those last two bites and that's when this sandwich gets even better. The bun absorbs the BBQ sauce yet holds together until completion. I soak the meat with their thinnest BBQ sauce then pick one of the thicker "models" for added zest. Put that coleslaw on top of your meat then close that sandwich and prepare to taste an incredible BBQ experience. YUM! read more

Literally I talk about this place in Texas non stop. It's one of the reasons I love visiting my S.O. 's father and extended family, actually second to seeing his dad it's the best ... the food it second to none. They love the Cuban sandwich, but personally the BBQ beans, brisket, Turkey, coleslaw, SAUCES!, well everything is perfect.... much less the atmosphere AND VIEWS. It's so good weve made it for every Christmas eve and day after we can.(and will try to again in 24 hrs)... living in Dallas visiting Austin I've been exposed to great bbq including Franklin's and Pecan Lodge but to me Captains in Palm Coast takes the cake or cheesecake that is!.... read more

Definitely worth the stop! We had the slider trio and tacos. Sliders were a great way to sample the smoked turkey, brisket and pulled pork. Great smoky flavor, and four sauces on the table from which to choose. Tacos were loaded with fresh herbs and vegetables, and will be ordered again. The biggest surprise were the beans that we ordered as a side. Tender beans in a rich sauce studded with bits smoked meat could have been a meal by themselves! read more

Captain's BBQ offers some of the best true Southern BBQ, that means we slow smoke all our meats in a closed wood burning smoker, We only use the best quality foods. Although smoking is very time consuming process it is worth every second. The smoking process infuses the meat with a delicious smoked wood flavor which results in very juicy and moist meats and sides. Enjoy it with some home baked desserts or compliment it with a cold beer or some wine. We are located aon beautiful and scenic A1A in Flagler County Bing's Landing Park in the Hammock of Palm Coast. Capt. Chris is a 20+ year resident of Flagler county. Capt. Chris spends his mornings as a local fishing guide chasing redfish, trout, flounder and more with his clients on the shallow flats of Palm Coast. In the afternoon Capt. The gingerbread was a disappointment as it lacked any real flavor. I was hoping for a burst of ginger or chunks of gingerbread. Overall it was a decent spot if you're craving ice cream but I'd try other flavors next time.

The staff just isn't the friendliest in town. The interactions often feel very transactional: you're here to buy a product and I'm here to hand it to you. No greeting when entering, no real warmth when leaving -- just neutral service. It's a bit surprising when you learn the businesses are owned by a local pastor. You would assume making customers feel welcomed would be a top priority. That said, during today's visit we did see what great service could look like. A regular customer walked in and one employee greeted her enthusiastically while another double-checked her order because it wasn't her "usual." That was wonderful to see -- I just wish that same energy was given to everyone walking through the door. Now for the reason we came today. Each day they post a "name of the day" on Facebook where someone with that name gets a free donut or ice cream from their sister shop. I follow along and love letting friends know when their name pops up. I've even redeemed one myself before. It's just one of those small things that makes people smile. On Sundays we usually grab breakfast somewhere on the way to church. Last week I saw their March specialty donuts posted and one looked like something our daughter would really enjoy, so we made a detour from our usual (and cheaper) breakfast spot to stop here. And to give credit where it's due -- the donuts themselves are fantastic. They're creative, fun, and genuinely delicious specialty donuts. Not your average donut shop offering. On quality alone, the donuts are easily 5 stars. Clearly a lot of people love this place, and I can understand why -- the donuts are excellent. I just wish the everyday customer experience matched the quality of the product.

Back then, tacos were under fifty cents, so I went as often as I could afford. That taste stayed with me. Fast forward to a couple of years ago when I discovered A1A Burrito Works. I walked in, and to be honest, the decor didn't impress me. But I wasn't there for ambiance. I ordered two tacos to go and headed back to my car. That's where everything changed. I tried to eat while driving. That was a mistake. These tacos were massive, packed with meat, lettuce, and everything that comes with "The Works." I had to pull over just to properly enjoy them. And then it hit me. One bite took me straight back to 1971. After decades of eating tacos all over the place, these were the first ones that brought that feeling back. The same bold flavor. The same satisfaction. The same experience I never forgot. Since then, I don't go anywhere else for tacos. If you care about flashy interiors, this might not be your place. Captain's BBQ in Palm Coast is a post-ride haven, especially after tackling the Mala Compra mountain bike trail. The counter service is efficient, and the drinks are conveniently located in a cooler. My wife and I devoured the shrimp po' boy and St. Louis ribs, respectively. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender, richly smoky, and redolently flavorful, requiring nary a swipe of sauce. The shrimp po' boy was a flavor explosion, with perfectly sauced and fresh shrimp on toasted Cuban bread. The baked beans were a unique twist and delicious, while the corn bread was a bonus (thanks to my wife for sharing!). Mala Compra,is a excavation site which is really interesting.Un like the Bait & Tackle Store. No one greets you to show what the procces is to even place an order.We found some menus and realized you order your food where you order your fishing supplies, ( Bait ). We were here so we ordered.They then call your name and you pick it up and go out side.Really,no joke ! You have to search for flat wear,or should I say " Plastic Wear ".If it weren't for the view this place would have been a total bust. Now ! The food was good,but way over priced. I recently grabbed takeout from this barbecue gem, and I'm still thinking about how good everything was! From the moment I opened the containers, the aroma alone was mouthwatering -- and every bite lived up to it. The meats were cooked to absolute perfection -- tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. You can tell they take their time with the smoke and seasoning. The sides were just as impressive -- hearty, well-seasoned, and clearly made with care. I would love Captain's BBQ even if it wasn't sitting on the Matanzas river. They have the best pulled pork and brisket I've ever eaten. All the sides I've tried have been very flavorful, the buttered corn, homemade cole slaw, collard greens, smoked baked beans and mac & cheese, but that's not all of them. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed, a great place to unwind while having the best BBQ around. Did I mention the Carolina vinegar based BBQ sauce? Whew, never thought I'd find that anywhere. The most delicious ribs. I bring all my friends and family when they come to visit. Very casual place, you order and pickup your food and seat yourself in the screened in patio or by the picnic tables outside. It's right on the water, really nice during sunset. They also have a shrimp salad (just in case you want something different). It's about $5/rib and definitely try the cornbread and the brisket is also delicious! read more

Cute place on the intercoastal. Self order and pickup. I had the grown up grilled cheese with pulled pork! Bread was too thin and falling apart by the time I got to the second half. Pork was a bit dry, so I had to add BBQ sauce. Companion ordered cheeseburger. Looked good, but they only cook medium well. Macaroni salad side was sweet and had pasta shells, not macaroni. This place has a great view of the canal it's almost like you're sitting right on it the view is amazing and the surrounding are nice, the only bad thing about the restaurant itself is they didnt have a large selection of drinks there and the tables and chairs were pieces of shit you could find at a thrift store but other then that the food was pretty damn good read more

If you want to cut down the fat a little bit order the half barbecue chicken dark meat. The place is pretty. They have docks and a boat ramp so the restaurant is accessible from the river or road. The boat ramp is also entertaining while you are eating. The chicken I had was really good. While the brisket was a bit dry. The sides and scenery made up for it and where very enjoyable! read more
