Came into town for the weekend for a wedding an picked this place for lunch as it had great reviews. Lunch time there was hardly a crowd so we got serviced right away! I really wanted to like this spot. Food was alright but service left a terrible taste in my mouth. Stopped in for a quick app and drinks. Met immediately by a super nice guy who then passed us off to the "good bartender" which was the start of the end of the positive experience. Bar had about 8 patrons and when I asked about using a TV for a game she made a scene about how her and "technology don't get along!" If you work at a bar and are the "good bartender" why do you not know or learn how your bar works so you can properly do your job?" She did not offer to find out or help by getting someone who did know...just said "No. We are busy!" The same gal then was complaining to another member of the staff about the computer system. Keep in mind everyone at the bar had a drink in front of them and no tickets at the service bar while she is acting all stressed. Huge red flag for ownership/management if the "good bartender" can't put in orders through the POS system or help bar customers enjoy a game and buy more drinks...who knows what else is going wrong while she works!?! Just poor customer service and the old folks around the bar kept commenting on how hard she was working...lmao! Here's a novel idea, why not laminate instructions for bartenders to reference on helping customers with TV's at a bar. Problem solved. Just my $0.02 as a service industry professional. Best of luck trying to teach her anything...might be better to caught your losses...smh! read more

New Years Eve we decided on one of our local favorites Hammock Grill by JT's. Arrived early and Glenn was our waiter. He got us started on Mahi bites as an appetizer. Very well cooked and the breading paired great with the dipping sauce. I ordered the New York strip steak with mashed potatoes and green beans. I prefer a medium grilled steak and this thing was perfectly cooked. So juicy and delicious. My wife chose the fried green tomato BLT and fries. She loved the sandwich and fries were seasoned and cooked perfectly. Glenn checked with us for drinks several times so we had a great NYE dinner and was glad to shop local. read more

There were good things but not the food. I had the worst Jambalaya I ever had. I have had it in New Orleans so I know what I'm talking about. Same for the fried Gator tail. My Wife had Fish & Chips which she couldn't eat because the oil it was fried in was dark and nasty tasting, like the Gator Tail. Probably the same frying oil from a month ago. read more

We have been to the hammock Grill probably five or six times and never once had a problem. The food is amazing. Everything is really good. One of our friends said that it was the best shrimp and grits they've ever had. The service is great everybody smiles. Tonight we had a family reunion dinner here. It was comfortable sitting outside and the staff kindly shoved two tables together to accommodate our group. I heard glowing reports from everyone about their entrees. The fresh fish and chips of the evening was flounder. Every bite was devoured. When we drove up, we realized we had eaten here before and the food was mediocre at best. We paused, not sure we wanted to go in. A couple leaving raved about how good their meal was so we decided to give it one more try. We were greeted by Glen, a friendly young man, who set the tone for our lunch. The interior has been completely remodeled. Kathy was our historian and tour guide - I mean, server. She has been working here for 10 years, has been through three iterations of the business, and loves what the new (original!) owners have done. We both had mahi sandwiches with sidewinder fries. To top it off we shared a bread pudding with ice cream - it was heavenly with raspberries and blueberries and a lemon icing. We enjoyed our lunch and will definitely come back. We got a table right away which was nice. We took a table outside because they had live music. One problem with that was the music was a little loud to be comfortable. The second problem was flies, there were fans blowing to try to keep them at bay but our table wasn't getting any reprieve. Other than that the food was good not extraordinary. I wanted to like this local place that's been around a long time (just changed owners tho) but unfortunately I did not. The salmon was ok, well cooked and well seasoned. The Alfredo it was served over was not very good unfortunately. Noodles overcooked and served luke warm. The deviled eggs tasted like they were sitting around for a while before they came out, the bacon on top was clearly from a packet of bacon bits not homemade. They were also pretty bland, needed black better, salt, some mustard or something. One person ordered steak, it was very undercooked. Medium shouldn't be bloody in the middle. Collard greens very vinegary - some at the table liked them some didn't. Again needed some Salt. Mashed potatoes and Brussels were probably the best thing on the table but the entrees were disappointing to us. Used to really like this place when it was JT's and I wanted to continue supporting it but unfortunately it's off my list. We're new in town and have found ourselves here a few times already. I'm giving it 5 stars with hope in my heart--aspirationally, you might say--though if I'm honest, it's sitting closer to a 4 to 4.5 right now. The people, the service, and the atmosphere? Wonderful. Inside is welcoming but could use a bit more warmth, and the back patio is a gem--live music, fans swirling away the Florida heat, and a setup that makes you want to linger a little longer. Where things wobble a bit is the food. It's good, don't get me wrong, but at this price point it should sparkle a bit brighter. A few dishes have leaned heavily on salt, and some toppings feel like they're auditioning for a drama when a lighthearted comedy would do. Maybe it's the "Sysco effect," maybe it's me being a foodie who cooks at home--but my gut says a little fine-tuning on the menu could turn this into a five-star spot, no question. Dinner was really good. I went with a friend, and we usually split a meal. I let him choose our selection. He decided on the Battered Chicken Platter. I don't eat fried food often, but fried chicken is a great splurge. I also wanted the garlic bread side. Well, to start, the garlic bread was awesome. Soft, yet crunchy, with a lovely garlicky butter smell and taste. The wonderful waiter brought out 2 plates that really looked like two whole separate dinners. The greens were zesty and a little sweet, the mashed potatoes were creamy, peppery with a lot of flavors. The chicken was smaller pieces of chicken tenders. They were very tender, crispy, but soft and very well-seasoned. Every aspect of the meal was delicious. The young waiters were on top of their service, very nice and helpful.
