Came into town for the weekend for a wedding an picked this place for lunch as it had great reviews. Lunch time there was hardly a crowd so we got serviced right away! What we ordered: Alligator tail 4/5 Fish sandwich with the fish of the day (flounder) 5/5 Shrimp and grits 5/5 Our waiter was super friendly and always kept checking on us. Food came out really fast within like 5-10 minutes. Highly recommend this place if you are ever in the area!

Place was packed, Service was great and to food was even better. Halibut, grits and Brussels sprouts were all cooked to perfection. Amazingly good food.

The atmosphere was great and the food was even better. We went back again the next night because we enjoyed it so much.

New Years Eve we decided on one of our local favorites Hammock Grill by JT's. Arrived early and Glenn was our waiter. He got us started on Mahi bites as an appetizer. Very well cooked and the breading paired great with the dipping sauce. I ordered the New York strip steak with mashed potatoes and green beans. I prefer a medium grilled steak and this thing was perfectly cooked. So juicy and delicious. My wife chose the fried green tomato BLT and fries. She loved the sandwich and fries were seasoned and cooked perfectly. Glenn checked with us for drinks several times so we had a great NYE dinner and was glad to shop local.

The staff and service is great. The food is excellent. It's just a pleasant little gem in this area. We have eaten there twice and will definitely go back before he head back to NC.

Went back for more fun! Ashley & Kyle behind the bar! We shared a house salad and buttermilk chicken with mashed potatoes & collards with a side of gravy! Spot on! Soo good. Sadly our last night in the area. What a send off! Thanks for being such a great spot to stop! See ya next time! Have a good season.

Very lovely service! Greeted and shown to our corner table by the hostess and had another hello fairly quickly by our server. Tried the ribeye and catfish - it came out perfect! They had a tent set up in the back with entertainment for the holiday weekend Tip: happy hour on Saturday too.

Very refreshing on a hot day. My son got a sprite. I enjoyed the crab cake sandwich, but my favorite were the sweet potato fries with this honey chipotle dipping sauce. Yummmmmmmm. I would come back for those alone! Hubs enjoyed blackened grouper sandwich with pasta salad. Son enjoyed burger but said it was overcooked. No biggie. Ask for Izzy. Get the sweet potato fries and the blueberry marg.

Looking for a fresh seafood restaurant with wild-caught shrimp and raw oysters near the beach?…read more Surprisingly, not this place. The name 'Turtle Shack' does not carry any significance. We did have clam chowder minus the clams and bits of potato normally found in most every clam chowder. It was essentially a milky broth. The fish sandwich was good. Our choice of Mahi was a nice-sized portion-control piece that had no doubt been purchased and delivered frozen, but to be fair was cooked to our liking. And it came with a large serving of crisp tasty fresh fries. The french dip sandwich was also pretty good. Plenty of shaved meat and a nice pineapple slaw side was more than enough to satisfy us. No complaints unless you thought clam chowder actually oughta have clam and potato in it, or if you were planning to enjoy fresh FL seafood at the 'Turtle Shack'. Instead, enjoy the burgers and the wings and the portion-control fish sandwich and the french dip and ignore the mis-leading name out front.

My friend Angela suggested we try Palm Harbor Grill, where she's had good experiences in the past. The restaurant is located in a strip mall alongside other spots and appears to have been recently renovated. Inside was clean, organized, and nicely decorated. Our waiter, George, was friendly, down-to-earth, and very accommodating. He also spoke Portuguese, which made it easy for Angela to communicate. The menu was just okay. While it offered traditional Portuguese dishes, it also included Italian options, which felt a little out of place for a restaurant presenting itself as Portuguese cuisine. We started with the octopus in garlic sauce 5/5. It was incredibly tender and packed with flavor. Easily the highlight of the meal. The shrimp in garlic sauce, served with Portuguese chips and white rice, was a bit of a letdown 2/5. There was very little sauce for the shrimp to soak up, and the flavor just didn't hit the mark. The biggest disappointment was the grilled Portuguese sausage 0/5. It was fatty, cold when served, and honestly inedible. George tried three times to warm it up for us. What made it more frustrating was watching other tables receive theirs flambéed tableside. Ours came out pre-cut and at what felt like refrigerated temperature. When we asked why ours wasn't served the same way, we were told that presentation style costs an additional $6. Really? I had the sangria, which was enjoyable though slightly on the sweeter side 3.5/5. Overall, I truly wish this experience had been better, especially considering the drive to Palm Coast from Jacksonville. I was hoping for a taste of home, but unfortunately, it fell short this time.

Captain's BBQ at Bing's Landing checked every box. We enjoyed lunch under the canopy of live oaks overlooking the water, then wandered over to the free Mala Compra Plantation Archaeological Preserve for a little local history before heading home. Even Oreo enjoyed the walk. This visit, we both ordered the Cuban sandwich. My dining companion said it's her favorite thing on the menu. While it wasn't my favorite item I've had here, it was still enjoyable. I actually preferred the pulled pork sandwich I ordered on a previous visit, so next time I'll probably go back to that. Now let's talk desserts...because that's where Captain's BBQ really wins me over! Their desserts are consistently delicious, generously sized, and absolutely worth saving room for. I also appreciate that they offer a more interesting drink selection than you'd expect from a casual barbecue spot. Besides the usual fountain drinks, you'll find glass bottles of Cheerwine and Jarritos along with canned ciders, ales, and hard seltzers. Ordering is simple. You stand in line to place your order, then wait for your name to be called at the pickup counter before choosing to dine inside, on the covered porch, or at one of the picnic tables outside. One thing that gives Captain's BBQ extra character is the decor. Take a few minutes to look around inside--the walls are filled with local memorabilia, community awards, and fun Palm Coast touches that make the restaurant feel connected to the area rather than just another barbecue joint. And don't leave once you've finished eating! Right next door is the free Mala Compra Plantation Archaeological Preserve, where you can walk through the preserved archaeological site and learn a little local history. It adds a unique element to your visit and turns lunch into a relaxing afternoon exploring one of Flagler County's hidden gems. Overall, Captain's BBQ offers much more than just good food. Between the scenic waterfront setting, shady oak trees, dog-friendly outdoor seating, delicious desserts, interesting drink selection, and the chance to explore local history just steps away, it's an easy place to spend a few enjoyable hours. We'll definitely be back!

We wanted to really like this place and had high hopes due to the other reviews but brisket was a little on the dry side and the burnt ends were a bit hard and fatty. The best thing was the tangy mustard sauce. Big open screened are in back overlooking the water. Noise level not too bad. We were hoping for better but glad we stopped to try it.

**Where do I even begin?**…read more We were visiting from out of town and made a reservation based on the website, which looked like it promised a five-star dining experience with a side of class. Spoiler alert: the only thing five-star about this place was how fast we wanted to leave. The red flags started immediately. The "ambience" was giving post-hurricane garage sale. And then the owner--dressed like a retired Jersey Shore cast member with a sad top-knot ponytail clinging to its last follicle--yelled from across the bar, "Welcome to the best restaurant in the county!" That was the first of many lies. We were squeezed six people into a table for four, even though there were plenty of empty tables, which we assume were reserved for ghosts or maybe just the owner's ego. Alcohol selection? Oh, just the finest! We asked for the beer list and were told there were *two* options. When we inquired about wine, the sommelier (a.k.a. the same server who forgot napkins, silverware, and the will to live) said, and I quote, "Red or white." That's not a wine list--it's a personality test. We were handed four sticky, mismatched menus with half the items violently Sharpied out like they'd been caught cheating on a test. At this point, most people would've made a break for it, but not us! No, we stayed. Because we're the kind of people who touch the stove *twice* just to be sure it's hot. We ordered the ahi tuna, escargot, and baked brie. The tuna came out looking like four sad, paper-thin slices of regret. No seasoning. No garnish. Not even a pity drizzle of sauce. Just raw fish, alone on a plate, contemplating its life choices. It tasted like someone froze a fish stick in 1993 and just now remembered to serve it. The escargot? Imagine rubber bands soaked in lukewarm garlic water. Now imagine paying money for that. The baked brie? Honestly, I blacked out at that point so I can't even tell you. After this culinary fever dream, we signaled for the check. That's when the owner reappeared, pants unbuttoned (WHY?!), and said--and this is 100% real--"Did I pissed you off?" Sir, the only thing more offensive than your grammar is your restaurant. We smiled, nodded, and lied that we had somewhere else to be, mostly because we feared telling the truth would end in a full-blown Jersey brawl in the parking lot. Final verdict: Never going back. You shouldn't go either. Save yourself. Go eat a gas station hot dog. Trust me--it'll be better.

The gyoza was very average - the pieces were relatively void of any discernible protein filling. The sashimi pieces were all a nice size and tasted fresh. Not much to say about miso soup - it's pretty much the same everywhere. But the salad was a pleasant surprise. Most restaurants put very little effort in preparing such a basic dish. Wild Ginger's salad was cold, crisp, and fairly generous. The hibachi steak was served hot. The amount of steak we received was definitely on the small side. The fried rice was moist and tasty. Next time, more meat please. Service was very good. Our server was a tall young guy who was enthusiastic, prompt, and proactive - he followed up with drink refills without us having to wave him down. Overall our meal was nothing noteworthy nor memorable, but was certainly good enough. We'd go back to Wild Ginger if we find ourselves in this area again.
