I had higher hopes of my experience at your restaurant. First of all we had to look and order from the breakfast menu on the cashiers cell phone. We arrived at 10:45 and was told I couldn't order lunch and if I did it would take 30 minutes. We tried to order hash browns and was told they were out of hash browns. When our food arrived 40 minutes later we surprised that Hash browns were on the plate. Food was definitely a small town taste but nothing you couldn't get closer in the city. but was expecting so much more in Paradise. What you advertise doesn't match the experience. read more

Captain's Corner is actually Paradise General Store's eatery. It's all in one and I've been wanting to stop for quite a while. The interior is very rustic. Orders are taken at the register and delivered all bagged up to your table. Given it's proximity to Smithville Lake it's not a reach to say the store serves campers, boaters, fishing folks and the like en mass. The service is minimal but the several employees we interacted with were friendly and informative. The menu has something for everyone but the burgers are the mainstay and available in single, double, and triple 1/3 lb patty configurations. You can add bacon and grilled onions as well as choose from several cheese options. Go in when it's not too busy and they'll put an egg on it for you. I opted for a double with bacon, grilled onion, and cheddar. I also ordered fries. It was all great including the bun! I highly recommend the Captain's Corner in the Paradise General Store for anyone jonesing for a burger. Pro tip - they take Apple Pay!! This is truly "Cheeseburger In Paradise"!! read more

This former corner gas station next to the lake is now a great greasy spoon and a chance to get some very good {dare I say gourmet} food. We love looking at the daily specials and making a run over for lunch, the huge taco's on Tuesday are a definite hit. They have great breakfast as well, biscuits and gravy are the favorite. My wife loves the Rueben sandwich and I like the Meatball Sub when they're offered...but the regular lunch items are very good...and the cheeseburgers are great. This is a gas station, so that's going to be the ambiance (please don't expect "Fancy" but it is nice and clean). Seating is limited, and if it's busy it might be hard to find a spot to sit...but they do have some seating outside with chairs and benches (if the weather is nice)...or take it To-Go & Sailboat Cove is a short drive away with some picnic tables and a view of Smithville Lake. You should 100% check out the 1950's themed ice cream shop across the street...they have a higher butter fat content ice cream that's mixed with lots of tasty flavors and can make you a Shake or Sundae if that's what you're craving. Friends have been telling me about the food here and it's been too long in coming, considering it's 5 minutes from my door. Nestled in Paradise near Sailboat Cove, this gas station / convenience store / restaurant is a hidden gem. They're known for their burgers and boy they didn't disappoint! Huge juicy slabs of perfectly cooked beef topped with all the fixin' on an amazing bun, all for 8 bucks? Sign me up! They've got a great cupcakery and desert counter and a bit of ice cream (more on the way across the street this summer). Family run and very friendly. We will DEFINITELY be back for more! read more

Honestly was looking forward to this place from the pictures they had advertised for loaded fries and tacos so we took the 40 minute drive to check them out sadly when we get there you can't even get the fries or even the tacos we still decided to give it a try I got there 19.99 burger which was so much sauce on it it rendered it almost unedible the burgers were lacking in any season and tasted as if it had been boiled not put on a grill there mac and cheese bites are terrible and honestly would reather of ate there bait that they keep out side that is full of dead fish the fries were the only good part of this meal the gummy fish on top of the burger is just wierd and not needed read more

We love this little corner of Paradise! Captain's Corner always has a fun special and delicious menu options. My favorite special is the sloppy joe, so nostalgic but also so so yummy. When you finish your meal you can go across the street to the ice cream parlor and get some yummy ice cream. Then go next door and do some boutique shopping at a sweet store with loads of fun gifts and eclectic items. There's also fun photo opp spots around including a giant yellow chair. I was very excited to try this little place. It's a cute little country store with the grill counter right inside the door. I had high hopes. I want to preface by saying the food was fine. It was prepared as ordered and was, well, fine. I was disappointed to see the famous cheeseburger was a frozen preformed patty. It was a good quality frozen patty, but I expect a fresh burger. I mean, I can get a fresh never frozen hamburger patty from McDonald's, so I can bought I could expect that from a local joint like this one. My husband got the crispy fish sandwich with sweet potato fries. He said his meal was also fine. Nothing stellar. We expected more fresh ingredients from a place with these kinds of reviews. Everything was a frozen commodity that had been heated up and dressed up, but nothing special. They've got okay prices for what you're getting, but I think you should know what you're getting. This is one of our favorite local spots. From the outside, it appears to be just a convenience store for boaters and fishermen. It is that, but it's also a hidden gem. The burgers are the best in the area. I am partial to their bacon cheeseburger with grilled onions and avocado. They also have breakfast sandwiches, on bagels, biscuits, or croissants. The owners are great people. The employees are friendly. My son and I go there almost every time we mountain bike the trails at Smithville Lake. My wife chose to go there for the two most recent Mother's Days. My daughter likes the biscuits and gravy, and their hot dogs. Everybody likes the sweet potato fries. All the grown-ups, plus my son, like the onion rings. (My parents want to go to Captain's Corner, whenever they visit from Florida.) read more

This multi specialty gas station is just what Paradise is made of. Their food is wonderful. They are always friendly. This has become one of my favorite places. It's the best place for Breakfast in Smithville. Their grilled chicken salad is great in season.. in the winter I get Philly cheesesteak sans bun, with a side salad and ranch. Delish- one of my favorite meals. They have done some great keto deserts as well! If you do decide to check this place out, don't miss out on the walking trails nearby over at the Smithville lake. Expect large portions. I ordered a double burger to make sure I had enough to eat because it's not fast food. The burger was so good I ate the whole thing along with the sweet potato fries. We still laugh when we drive by. Another visit came after we took our granddaughter to the Union Station in downtown KC. It was a bit of a drive, but we wanted to treat her to some ice cream. Wow I tried the Veggie Burger, it was amazing! Most veggie burgers taste like Cardboard but NOT theirs since it had good flavor without being overwhelming. My wife and son tried the Cheese Burger, BAM they AMAZED with a great burger! The Host was very helpful with us, we were tired and very hungry, that wanted something to fuel us up, she recommend several options.
