We were arrived about 45 minutes prior to their closing time. Our waitress was nice. Inside looked to have a cozy set up and a small patio area with windows. The table condiments were empty so we had to grab some from the table next to ours. Everyone seemed in a bit of a hurry to get everything out to be able to leave. I asked for a mahi plate with fries and noted no onions however some cooked onions still were on the plate under the fish. The mahi was a very small portion and a little overcooked. Came for breakfast and we leave having one of the best experiences ever!! Seated by gentleman who was smiling and attentive. The young lady brought us to our table professionally as well as offering some banter about the upcoming holidays. That was very special. Our waitress started with a joke which endeared us immediately. The menu had a great deal of choices. First coffee no bitterness but smooth and throughout meal never empty! I had the seafood omelette that was scrumptious!!! I usually never finish a meal but I had every morsel. My son had eggs, hash browns, bacon and pancakes. Where does he put it all? I have been coming to Captains Galley for over 40 years. It is a staple for when I am in town visiting my family. I have had great meals and okay meals during those years. One thing I will say is consistent is the service has always been excellent. They are always friendly and quick to talk with you and get your food quickly. This last visit was the service was great but I have to say the food was okay. I had an omelette with veggies and potatoes but it was really lacking in flavor. I will say their pancakes were delicious as always. The outside dinning area is lovely and the addition of the thatched roof is great for protection from the sun. It is worth a try as it is more about what you order and how much you will like it. read more

This is my second time having breakfast here. After a horseback riding on Hutchison Island, we desperately needed a nice hearty meal. For whatever reason when I'm asking directions to this place, it takes me to a wrong location. Luckily, once you're over the bridge, you can clearly see the sign and make the correction yourself, instead of a left you make a right. This place always seems super busy, which is a given how good the food is. We did end up waiting for about 10 minutes before we seated. Our server came fairly quickly, took our drink orders, and food orders. Everything came out correctly, but I believe the only issue was after we received our food. Our waiter never came back until everything was done. Having a refill on my coffee and a glass of water would've been nice to have while eating my food. That was honestly my only complaint. The food is mediocre at best and really lacks any flavor, the most flavorful thing was the sausage patty in my country Benedict. The potato's are mushy with a few crispy bits and around the table I just kept hearing that their food was bland. The service was alright, we had to ask a few times for the Tabasco sauce but other than that it was okay. They are definitely not as good as they used to be and it's very disappointing. Asked for lattes and got an iced coffee with flavoring that you could not taste even though they are charging. Eggs were cooked weird like the stove wasn't heated properly and food was not described properly on the menu or to the customers. Lastly, they ask if you want onions on potatoes and then charge you for the onions without telling you that they are charging you. Overall, it wasn't a horrible experience since there wasn't any quote on quote "bad service" but for $80 worth of food without tip I would expect something better than what they are serving and charging you for. read more

Very quaint old Florida vibe restaurant, we had to wait for a table because it is an old house with restaurant downstairs-not sure if they have apartments up stairs or not?!? Breakfast and lunch only, closes at 2 pm. and breakfast/lunch cost the same $10-20. We ordered the seafood combo platter which was 3 shrimp, three fish sticks, fries and 1/4 c slaw for $16. I wish I could say the shrimp or fish tasted so good but they were not; now I realize it probably was frozen fish/shrimp hence the flavor was off. The atmosphere was nice but the food was ok (fries were the best bec nice and crisp). I guess one needs to ask is this fresh fish or frozen?m or order something else. read more

Once again decided to once again eat here and try different menu items. We ordered the Mexican omelette which came with chips and stuffed with all good things Mexican. It was delicious. We ordered the chicken and waffles. Which was amazing. The chicken was tender and seasoned amazing. We ordered the steak and eggs where the meat was tender and the eggs cooked beautifully. Lastly we ordered the Cuban sandwich with fries which was absolutely amazing. I live in miami where I can get a Cuban sandwich at every corner and this is the best I have ever had. We wanted breakfast after a 40 minute walk and wanted something that was close to where we had just walked. We saw this place, the menu and the proximity and decided to check it out. Very glad we did! The place is only open for breakfast and lunch and it is frequented by locals from what we could tell. We were seated as soon as we got there, we asked for outside and we sat under a big tent that has been installed on the parking lot (social distancing and all that stuff). Menu was extensive and had a huge selection of both sweet and salty stuff; from crabs egg Benedict to Belgian waffles and huecos rancheros. Brie was a really nice waitress and new the menu. She recommended the freshly made banana bread (I guess they make different ones) and when I asked what she recommended, she quickly said the huevos rancheros bowl. We also got the crab egg Benedict. The food that came out was delicious! The banana bread had been grilled and was sweet, crunchy and had powdered sugar on top. The huevos rancheros bowl had tater tots, spicy chorizo, beans, crema, pico de gallo, avocado, eggs l, and two crispy yet fluffy chips that were made right there! The crab eggs benedict was delicious too with its hollandaise sauce. The restaurant was busy but not crazy busy and nothing felt rushed or awkward with the social distancing thing. While at the nearby Ft. Pierce Farmer's Market on a Saturday morning, I met some Ft. Pierce Police Officers and asked if they could make a recommendation for a good breakfast restaurant and they suggested Captain's Galley ( in several cities in the US and abroad, I've found cops know where the good food is). So, no reservations are taken, but on a hot muggy morning the hostess took my cell number and we waited in the A/C of our car and were subsequently texted 30 mins. later. It took a few minutes more for our server to appear, but she was very friendly, despite being very busy. We got going with some good, hot coffee and 2 very well crafted Bloody Marys. Served in Ball jars with handles, these are photogenically garnished with bacon, rosemary, and string bean. YUM! The items we ordered were the seafood omelette, pancakes, pecan waffle and shrimp n' grits. All were VERY delicious, especially the shrimp n' grits, with large perfectly seared shrimp, and decadently cheesy and buttery grits! I'd highly recommend trying them. All in all, Captain's Galley was a very satisfying breakfast in a nice, casual atmosphere. read more

The food and service were acceptable and standard. What was not acceptable was the amount of up charges that were added to our bill. My wife and I ordered a Greek Omelet each, which per the menu consist of spinach, tomatoes, feta cheese topped with olives. It is accompanied with choice of toast, biscuits, or pancakes. My wife ordered hers with olives on the side (because she doesn't like to have a ton of olives) as well as multigrain toast. I ordered mine as served with multigrain toast and hot sauce/ pico on the side since I'm trying to stay away from the sugar in ketchup. We enjoyed the meal and I gave the waitress my credit card to pay the bill before reviewing an itemized bill. When I later got home and looked at the bill I was absolutely shocked that they had added multiple up charges to my bill of which were included in the menu. In addition the waitress failed to tell us of these up charges. "Mulitgrain toast" which was given as an option was a $1 up charge, as well as all of the other up charges that were not on the menu and amounted for $9.75 or a 28% increase in the cost of the meal. Patrons beware of this place! I do not leave many negative comments on Yelp but the owners of this establishment have obviously instructed their staff to add multiple changes to customers bills! Level of dining atmosphere, food presentation, and food quality has significantly dropped off during this summer. I have dined at this establishment for years, but this summer was by far the worst. The normal Winter manager travels up North for the Summer (Sorry I don't recall her name). Her replacements lack her passion, food quality and appearance control. Previously, you received a warm welcome upon your arrival and the service and food proportions were top-notch. Lately, it has turned into just another below average diner with the food proportions getting smaller and the presentation bland and lacking. One used to have the plate garnished with a slice of citrus and maybe some greenery, but no longer. It's not that many eat the garnish. moreover its about showing love and caring for the plate you're presenting. Visual appeal is just as important as flavor. The current staff can be overheard complaining about there work conditions, pay, and how they can't wait to get off work. Please bring the old management back and restore it to a wonderful dining experience. read more

We just came to fort Pierce today on a day trip and decided to try the captain's galley. Our breakfast was prompt mine was perfect I had one egg one pancake one piece of bacon and some home fries for $5.99. My husband thought his Philly cheesesteak steak was a little bit skimpy but the fries were good and very crispy.
