My insurance company recommended Car Crafters on Northeast Blvd in Albuquerque New Mexico. They appeared to be extremely professional in they way they did the estimate and they obtained the parts required for my repair. When I dropped off my car they did a very detailed inspection of the entire car's body noting every tiny blemish in the finish and had me sign it to confirm the had other minor body imperfections (makes sense). Little did I know that the detailed inspection was a combination of theater and CYA. Once they had the car I was informed once they got the car taken apart they realized they needed additional parts (understandable). They gave me a date about 10 days after the parts arrived as an ETC...I get a text 7 days later telling me my car was completed and ready to pick up. But was then told my insurance company hadn't paid them for the balance. It took 4 more days until they would release my car. When I came to pick it up that's when the real crap started: the hatch latch had a huge scratch in it, none of the emblem lettering (brand, model, etc) was attached, the trunk was still filled with broken glass, and the clear tape I used to cover the broken window with plastic between the accident and repair was still all over the car. They apologized and took the car back to their shop while I waited. When the car came back they had vacuumed the broken glass, polished the scratch on the latch, and admitted that it needed a new latch. They removed about 70% of the tape remnants and told me they were going to order a new hatch latch and apply the lettering and remove more of the tape when they install the new latch (reasonable). When I got home I noticed a pair of new scratches on the rear support pillar near the accident area: I'd never seen those scratches before and they were not on that detailed intake inspection...they were not oxidized in the least...these were NEW scratches. I immediately took a photo and texted it to my insurance adjuster. By the time I got home Car Crafter was closed so I figured a date/time coded photo and a date/time coded text would be proof enough that I identified the new scratches less than 20 minutes after picking up the car. Silly me. In addition noticed error codes on my dashboard about a bad rear light (it was a rear end accident) which they gave me a hard time about. You do a $3,500 repair on a rear end collision and won't admit that you would be responsible to replace a broken $1 tail light (ridiculous) ?!?!?!?!? When the hatch latch arrived and I returned to have the new hatch latch and lettering installed I showed them the new scratches they took zero responsibility, blamed me, and debated the validity of my date/time coded photo and text to my insurance adjuster. Not only that, they forgot to order one of the model lettering plates so I had to bring the car back a THIRD time for them to install the missing lettering emblem and replace the broken tail light. During the interim of them doing the second round of repairs and ordering the missing lettering the shop manager referred me to the regional director, James Lowe, in regards to the scratches. I texted Mr. Lowe...I spoke with him over the phone...I sent him a copy of the photo of the scratches and confirmed my sending the photo to my insurance adjuster within minutes of my driving my car away from his shop...he confirmed those scratches were not on the intake inspection. He made an appointment to inspect the scratches in person the following Monday when they installed the last of the lettering emblems and tail light. When I got there he had already made up his mind and was obviously planning on doing NOTHING to compromise on the situation. He asked me "why didn't you send us the photo instead of your insurance adjuster?" I told him the photo is date/time coded as well as the text to my insurance adjuster and that his shop was closed and I had no place to send the photo. I asked him "why wasn't the scratch noted when the car was inspected at intake?" and he shrugged it off stating "they could have missed it." So no matter the signed, confirmed, and date/time stamped irrefutable evidence their regional director was not going to compromise. To even use some touch up paint. Nothing. I got an estimate to repair the scratches as requested by my CC company. I told Mr. Lowe what my plans were and that I was going to refute the charges to my CC company. Mr. Lowe threatened that if my CC company reversed the charges he was going to get a mechanical lean on my car, have it repossessed, and I would have to pay for the tow (SERIOUSLY?!?!?!?). He tried to threaten me and get me to back down. I told him if he did that I would sue him and that if my CC company accepted the date/time coded evidence I'm sure a judge would as well. I gave him one more opportunity to do a professional touch up on the scratches (not a $1,000 repair) their regional director would rather get into a legal battle than compromise.

I took my car to carcrafters because my insurance said they were the closest "in network" shop to repair damages from a hit and run. Not only did they under estimate the repairs necessary but when I refused their service they didn't properly re-install my front bumper or side markers. Now there is a plastic panel dragging along the road and I have no side marker lights. When I walked up to the car with the car rafters rep, I noticed the side marker dangling, pointed it out, and as I touched it the side marker fell out into my hand with no pressure and his response was "it was like that when we got it". Id also like to add that I have 20 years of automotive experience and am ASE certified for parts and diagnostics.

We were recommended to talk to Auto Glass and they were super helpful in working with our car manufacturer to figure out how to get a replacement window. Unfortunately it seemed getting the glass would take too long for the manufacturer (10-14 days!!!!) so we were instead routed to their service center in Dallas. Auto Glass - at no charge (!!!) - knocked out the remaining glass, cleaned out the trunk of all the loose glass shards and patched us up temporarily so we could drive the car. Absolutely wonderful people - thank you to Leonard especially for helping us out through a stressful situation!

I notified my insurance company, they contacted them and then they contacted me but said they couldn't get out till next week. I can't drive without a rearview mirror. That would be not only illegal but extremely unsafe. So now I have to drive my 26-year-old van for however long it takes them to get out here. I think they should warranty their work and I think those who have problems with their work, should be on their priority list. They don't get a good rating for me. They would have had the mirror not flopped around.
