I've never had any issues with Car Toys in the past. I've been to the location on Broadway and on Mississippi and never had an issue with follow up or installations. When I bought my new car I went in to have a deck installed, to buy and have new speakers installed all around, and to have my amp and sub wired and installed. When the everything was said and done I was quoted a price of nearly $1000. Then I was told that they didn't have the dash kit needed to install and that they'd have to order one and it should take about a week to come in. This would have been the weekend of November 12, 2016. I called a week later and was told the dash kit had just been ordered and it wouldn't arrive until November 23rd. It is now December 7, 2016 and I've still not heard from anyone at Car Toys regarding the install. At this point I'm looking for someone else to do the install because having to wait almost 4 weeks and hearing nothing is unacceptable on top of the ridiculous price I was quoted. read more

TERRIBLE PLACE ALL AROUND!!!! I brought my car for my subwoofers to be reconnected after I was in accident because the body shop wouldn't do, understandable. I go to pick up my car & they tell me I may not be able to use the stereo because there's an error code, not exactly what I wanted to hear after 3 months of not having my car. My front speakers were also blown so I had them replace them. The speakers still sound awful & my subs barely work. This place is horrible! I wanted to get my wife a Bluetooth receiver for Christmas last year. We saw some car toys ads that looked promising so that is where we went. We Purchased a $250 receiver that was supposed to include "free installation". HA what a joke. They tacked on a couple of misc charges, charged for an install kit ( the receiver box said it included all the stuff that was in the kit I was charged for) and then because they had to use a dremel to shave a millimeter off the face plate, they charged for that and charged an additional $25 to clean up the mess they made! Our $250 receiver has now cost us almost $500! So we get out to the parking lot and they show my wife how to operate the Bluetooth functions and stuff. Great now she can talk hands free, listen to Iheart and pandora or whatever on her stereo. Now we are on our way home and decide to listen to old fashion radio. The darn thing wont pick up any radio stations what so ever! WTF.. We go back the next day and they tell us we have to upgrade our antenna in order for the radio to work! SAY WHAT! so another $50 bucks later we now have radio stations. All I can say is if you are looking to get ripped off, this is the place for you. As for me, Ill skip this stick up artist. read more

Like the person who reviewed before me, I took my car in to get detailed. I had a groupon. I left without getting it detailed, because they told me that to actually clean my car, they'd need to charge me an additional $100 over the $89 I'd already paid (mind you, this is interior only, nothing done outside). After I said that was too much, they dropped it down to $50 and I'd have to trade off services. Basically, if I wanted to get my cargo area cleaned and the spot (its a water spot, no color, I'm probably the only one who notices it) off the front seat, they could do it for the extra $50 but I wouldn't get the stain protectant that came with the deal I bought. And they doubted they'd get the spot out, because my car is beige. (is this a unique color in the car universe? I mean, we're not talking about a blood stain, I think I could probably get it out with some spot shot and elbow grease, which is I guess what's going to have to happen now). I am tempted to add photos of my car to this review so you can see that my car is pretty much clean already. I've had it for a year. I drive it probably 5 miles a week. I don't allow food in my car. I don't keep anything other than my car charger and a yoga mat inside. And I clean it myself (I own a steam cleaner even) fairly often. I only bought the detailing package because of the slight water spot in the passenger seat, and because vacuuming didn't remove all traces of dog hair from the back seat and cargo area. And I'm eight and a half months pregnant so its hard for me to do it myself in this condition. Now I need to find someone else to clean it. I don't have a lot of spare time these days, and I really want to get the car cleaned before I install the car seat. Which has to happen ASAP. Bottom line, I don't appreciate companies who try to fleece customers with a bait and switch coupon. If you don't want to do the work at the discount rate, DON'T OFFER A GROUPON! It's just that simple. Also- trying to fleece a very visibly pregnant lady is low. You know how many diapers $100 buys? BTW- they told me the cargo area isn't included in the groupon, but it is actually explicitly included in the fine print. read more

I have used this place twice, first to get a car stereo, internal antenna, etc. and then again for the same thing after the stereo was stolen. They do good work for the most part, but I was NOT impressed that when i got in my car and was about to leave, i noticed in the stereo parts box that they left out a cable that came with the kit i paid for. When i went in to ask about it, they just had dumb looks on their faces like "Well, sorry, that tech is gone i don't know what you want us to do.' They wouldn't call him, or get another cable from another box, and basically made me walk away empty handed at the time. now they did eventually get the cable and let me pick it up, but this is very unprofessional, first to not give the customer everything they paid for (taking and keeping pieces out of their product) and then not doing something to make it right immediately when it is brought to someonone's attention. Further, i asked them to have a manager call me and that was not done. This kind of lack of attention to detail and subsequent lack of helpfulness or responsiveness is not acceptable to me, although to be fair, everything else in the installation is working. But in a tough economy it's not enough just to technically get the job done, you have to be on top of this stuff and bend over backwards to satisfy people, and they definitely don't do that there. They made me feel like something THEY did was MY problem, and it's not appreciated. read more

I've never had a more infuriating experience with a business. It took me no less than SEVEN visits over two months to fix problems caused by this location's lazy employees on my first visit. They installed the wrong product, didn't even do half of the services in the detail package I paid for, and didn't bother to tell me why. My decision to buy a car stereo here was truly a terrible one. It was more money than I was initially quoted, double the time to install that I was initially quoted, and now it seems that I was completely taken my their "90 days no interest option"--you know what they represent as a payment option where you think you'll just get his with lots of interest if you go past 90 days. Nope. Turns out that it's actually a lease and if you miss the 90 days by even a few days, they actually bill you for the entire loan amount for another go round. Don't buy there, and definitely don't use their 90 days interest-free option if you do. read more

Go literally anywhere else. They did a botched job on my sound system not once but twice. The worst part is they tried covering up the second botched and completely lied to me and gave me back my car with a barely working subwoofer and tried covering it up by turning all the settings up in the radio to full for bass and sub ( they didn't even plug it in the first time...wut). I didn't even bother calling them back to complain because I'm not letting them near my car again and I know they don't care. Taking my car to another location to have somebody competent fix the issue and who's not going to lie to me and do it correctly. Not sure if I look dumb and stupid but the people here seem to think so. Don't lie to your customers, if you're not sure how to do something just say so. I went in and scheduled an appointment for them to install a stereo and a sub for my car. The worker told me it would cost $400 total for everything. Once i sent my car into the shop and got it back, they only had installed the stereo, which the stereo itself WAS NOT turning on. When i asked the manager Logan Flemmer what happened he told me there was a miscommunication and that it would cost me an extra $200 and that otherwise they couldn't do anything about it. I would've never payed $400 just to get a stereo installed. If you can find literally anyone else to do whatever work you need done I HIGHLY reccomend not going here. They will tell you a specific price and either raise it later for it to be fully finisher, or not do the work at all. read more

Very dissatisfied with this place. I spent lots of money on a steep to be installed, was told to come in at 1pm today and the tech over booked and said he wouldn't be able to work on my car, that he might be able to get to it later. I was asked if I worked tomorrow and if I left with them overnight they would work on it first thing in the morning! Hell no, I am not leaving my car with people I don't know, the tech smelled of alcohol, idk if he was drunk or not. They were pretty busy, but I was able to leave my vehicle overnight and their detail tech, Dalton, did a great job with my 08 RAV4! I had an aftermarket remote starter installed here and, fast forward eight months, I took it back because the key would not come out of the ignition and the Subaru mechanic thought that it had to do with the remote starter. When I approached Car Toys to open the car up and look at the problem, I was worried that they would deflect it and explain the key off as not a related issue. I talked to the technician Kevin who showed sincere interest in fixing the problem. He called me the next day and, while he didn't fix the problem, he explained what he did and gave advice on where the real problem is coming from. Kevin researched it on the Internet and found a similar issue from other Subaru owners. He also gave me options for an intermediate fix, unplugging a wire to at least get the fob to work. I was very happy with the service at no charge. read more

CAR TOYS ROCK !! Went out to dinner but when I came out to drive home the 2 year old stereo system was totally silent with the word "PROTECT" flashing on the screen. Huh ?? Tried every button but nothing changed. Next day I called CarToys and the manager answered the phone and told me the speakers had probably gone south. I went to their store and their Installation Manager's diagnosis was the same rolled down the passenger side window and VOILA! The speaker wire was severed by the window mechanism. He tried the quick fix by spicing / crimping a connector onto the wires and it was fixed and I was back on the road! I do not believe they even knew that I had bought the stereo system from another Cat Toys store! FAST, competent, efficient and FREE! Second & third empty stars are for the poor communication about how long it would take (1 1/2 days). Went to pick it up when first told it would be ready and it wasn't. We suspect our work was delayed without calling us. Once home I realized I needed an itemized receipt . I called and asked for one and was told they cannot email or send one through the mail. QUICK SERVICE & GREAT EXPERIENCE My remote start install experience with the Mississippi Car Toys in Aurora was better than expected. Let me explain. After reading some of the not so nice reviews I was a little hesitant. HOWEVER, I noticed that EVERY review that mentioning the name "Rico" was very positive. So I called Rico the night before and told him I have a high end Dodge Ram that is used for towing a large camper. I explained why they could not touch any existing wiring and my hesitation. I told Rico that I noticed all the reviews mentioning his name were positive and asked for a rough estimate realizing he had not seen the vehicle. He told me to bring it in the next morning and assured me it would be a positive experience. Here's what my experience was like. 1. PERSONAL TOUCH: Rico met me in person and explained all the options. He introduced me to two other employees who would be involved in the install. Devin did the install and a second individual did the preliminary vehicle check in. When I returned Rico personally walked me out to the truck and ran thought how to operate the device and had me test it myself. 2. CLEAR: From explaining options in the beginning to teaching me how to operate the device they were crystal clear. But most importantly the estimate was right on the money. No surprises and I love that! 3. QUICK: I did not wait long to be helped after walking in at 9:10 am and did not wait long for the install. I walked to the Starbucks and worked on my laptop for 90 minutes before getting a call to pick it up. When I returned, they were quick in going over the install explaining instructions and sending me on my way. 4. GREAT SERVICE: From start to finish it was a painlessly great experience. I have several employees and was impressed with how much pride Rico took in providing quality service. Turns out Rico is the store manager but the guy's commitment to good service would make you think he owns the place! Give Rico and his team a try. You won't regret it. read more

I purchased a remote start for my son's vehicle for Christmas $99 with installation. The installation took a little longer than initially told due to it be Christmas Eve but they did tell me when I dropped it off for installation that it would take approximately 3 hrs so no surprises after that. I came to pick it up Kevin did the installation amazingly!! Jesse took care of us I didn't know what to expect I have never been to Car Toys I thought they were going to try to push me into buying a more expensive unit or buy all this different stuff that I may not need none of that!! salesman did not know the product he was selling me. i gave him specific criteria of what i wanted my very basic car stereo to do. he assured this model of alpine stereo did all that. then they installed it. the install was sloppy, the stereo is crooked and theres a big gap in the console. i brought it to their attention and they said there was nothing they could do, it was "where the screw holes were". well the aftermarket stereo i had them replace did not sit crooked or have a gap. so i think the install sucks. i accepted it and drove away, only to realize that the criteria i had laid out to the salesman was not met and the stereo was not what I wanted. i believe the salesman just told me what he thought i wanted to hear. i will not return and would steer everybody away, too. read more

I visited this location a couple of weeks ago to inquire about pricing for a sound system for my car. I was very disappointed with the salesman because he only only encouraged me to buy the more expensive stuff. He would not try to cater to my budget and when I asked about the cheaper stuff he just said"you get what you pay for ". Why would Car Toys sell something that they do not endorse. Not everyone can afford to spend $600 on an installation. Maybe instead of trying to pat your commissions you should try to help the customers. I will not be returning. read more

Terrible. Watch out for these guys! It is a common practice to Inform you of additional charges for so called "difficult installs" after they have your car tore apart and you have no choice but to pay. I was charged 200 for a quote "difficult install " and was told I needed an additional new xm antenna for 79.00. I watched the install and they never installed new antenna. Then connected Bluetooth microphone to the auxiliary jack. Had to return car to fix and they would not get me in for 3 hours as other customers had priority (obviously customers who just purchased new stereos) I guess I did not count once they had my money. This place rips people off so please beware of their practices. read more

Terrible customer service. I went in at 5:30pm. Picked the stereo, amp, and subwoofers that I wanted installed. Sales guy insisted that they would absolutely be able to install that evening by 9:30pm at the latest. I made sure to let them know that I had plans later that night and could not leave my car overnight. They let me sit there until 8pm (at which time I asked for an update because I hadn't seen them pull my car into the shop yet). This is when they decided to tell me that they had not even started yet and asked if I could leave it over night. Complete waste of time. Do NOT go here. read more

Chris, the install manager, is awesome. I've had some issues with my bluetooth receiver I had installed here but he was able to fix the problem quickly and free of charge. This five star rating is for Chris' customer service and knowledge on how to prevent this issue from happening again.
