Came down to Car Toys on N Division because I couldn't figure out how to install my single din Alpine deck. I talked to the guy, bought a specific part and paid for the installation on April 3rd. The worker let me know that they were booked out until April 27th, I didn't care at the time I understand every business is busy right now. I call in the Friday before my instal and the guy can't find me on the books and tells me to drop it off Monday night, before the install. I drop off my car and and Uber home. I get a call 2 days later that I need a different part to do the installation, I ask them to order the part. Nothing for a whole week, so I decide to call them and to my surprise no one had ordered the part. I asked if there was a manager and he said everyone is out with Covid. I asked the same gentleman to order the part for me, which he did. Once the part arrives about a week later I drop off my car and picked it up the next Night before close (last car of the day). Initially when I paid for the installation it was $277 after all said and done I owed an additional $258 I asked if there was any way I could be compensated for the delay and lack of transparency I had experienced with this process. The worker said, " No, trust me man the last month has been a whole lot harder for me than you". I can't speak for all of Car Toys, I've heard the Valley does a good job and has a first come, first serve basis. But, if I can save anyone time, money, dignity even. Stay as far away from these crooks as possible. Nothing but a bunch of guys that don't care about much more than BS-ing with the boys on the clock. read more

This place is a joke. The employees have zero sense of urgency. They disappear in the back and don't seem to care about their customers. I sat in there for well over an hour and a half just to have my Interlock calibrated and there weren't any other customers in the store. Totally ridiculous. Black Friday deal is a scam! 359.99 for headunit and rear view camera (Black Friday: free installation) ended up being not free, if your vehicle is stock, that costs more to install, oh you didn't have all the parts needed for the install, don't forget that there's also an up charge for the rear view camera instal... let's break this down 359.99 free install(headunit and rear camera) + 210$ for parts and labor for headunit (that's right, not a free instal) +200$ for rear view camera instal (that's right, thats not a free instal either) in total: 800$ for a Black Friday deal that claimed free instal and was in fact not free for anything... scam artist company, Id stick to Best Buy or literally any other company. read more

I have a Honda HRV, and my kids got me a gift certificate for interior detailing for which I made an appointment. Got there, not detailer on site. Was told they would only vacuumed the first 2 rows, charge me an extra $65.00 for pet hair, and not clean any upholstery. $79.00 to barely vacuumed and to wipe down the dash. Was recommended to get my car detail done here! Had a Groupon coupon so was not a full detail but...my car was fairly clean except for the center where my shifter is! it came back more smeary then when I took it! Not impressive at all when you bot a used car and want it clean!But here's the worst of it all...so my car has defrost lines in the back window that worked perfectly! There was some sticky tape back there and I didn't want to nick the lines so took my car to the supposedly 'professionals'! The tape is now off and 4 lines also do not work now as well! I took it back and asked about it and was very dissapointed with the feedback!They refused to do anything about it and saying they couldn't do anything about it! Bought auto start for my wife. it worked for about a week. had a service appointment, didn't fix problem. another service appointment. still not fixed. then we had to buy something else that would make it work better. still didn't work. now they are making it my fault with my schedule that they can't fit me in to fix this headache of a problem. my wife is a teacher and it's frustrating knowing we have auto start but can't use it in negative temperatures. bad customer service did not make me feel like a priority or like they didn't need to make up for these problems. never going back. read more

Nothing is as they promised. First it takes them 2-1/2 months to get a cable and I was ok with that because of COVID. But they never called to let me know the part was in. I would never have known if I hadn't called them. Then I made an appointment to install and they told me 4-5 hours. When I called after 5 hours to check they are now telling be end of day which will make it 10 hours. Never again will I work with this company. If I could give it zero stars I would. read more

Last week I bought a stero and 2 front speakers. They charged me $1350. 4 days after the install one of the speaker started rattling like a blown speaker. I called and they said they stand by there work. I called 2 days later to make an appointment and they told me they couldn't get me in for a month. That's not standing behind there work to me. I had a back up camera and ApplePlay system installed a few days ago. Kyle, the person who explained the options and features was extremely knowledgeable and his explanations were easy to understand for this tech-deficient guy. After a few minutes working with him I knew I was going to purchase a system. Brock installed my system. He worked through the many problems that my 2003 Lincoln LS presented. He explained everything very clearly and I have found that the system works perfectly thanks to him. I really appreciate Car Toys and would recommend this particular store to anyone. This location is very dirty. Since businesses have closed during the covid shutdown, they have given no care as to what goes on on their property. There is an encampment of 10+ homeless people in the parking lot behind their building. It is dangerous and covered in garbage. I had an intaxalock divide installed by this shop about 7 months ago and for some reason they cut into my wiring harness to install the ignition interlock device instead of running it to my starter like it should have been installed my AC has not worked since and they had no reason to be cutting into my wiring harness! Second time I have gone in to get an interlock device. Was told to be there at 9am. Got there and was told "they didn't know when it would be done". Waited patiently for 5 hours before inquiring when it would get in and that I had to be home before a specified time and that if they couldn't do it then I would come back another time. They got the vehicle in attempted to install the device and while watching them noticed the technicians were hardly working on it most of the time laughing and discussing obvious not work topics. Then I noticed what looked like an apprentice open my back door to my vehicle(no need to get into the back for installing this) and laugh as I had just gotten back from 28 day hitch at work and the back was filled with work clothes. After about 8 hours in the shop(it's a 2 hour job) and already after my allotted time of being away from home they drove my truck around the front and informed me "the device was faulty". If this wasn't the second time that I've been here (pretty simialar scenario the first 9+ hours) then I would have believed them. Before leaving I asked why they couldn't have just had me come in at 1 when the car entered the shop and the manager told me "that's just how our boss does it". A job like mine I only get 8 days off ever 36 days on and for them to waste my full day and cause even more disorder for me with the court drew the straw. Before this experience I had subs put into a previous vehicle that only worked maybe 3 weeks, a friends system from them took a dump after a month and my fiancés stereo never worked properly and still doesn't after receiving service from here. If you want long lasting and respectful speedy service then don't come here. read more

Tony, the associate that helped me, was pushy, and he ended up convincing me to spend 600, knowing I couldn't afford it. That was my mistake for falling for it. He then directed me to get a loan with brandsource (which I'm finding out is the worst credit line in the world). I will never be coming back here and recommend no one does either. read more

We bought a groupon in hope of getting a good detailing job done at Car Toys. Once we took the car in, they said they'd have to charge extra to shampoo the seats. Since the back seat had some stains, we said fine. Then they said there was dog hair on the carpet in front and couldn't shampoo the carpets without charging us extra. Our dog is a schnauzer and does not shed and does not ride in that car. So we did not get what we expected and they still charged us as if we did have the carpets shampooed. The windshield was cleaned, but when it was driven into the sun, there was fog like look because it wasn't wiped down correctly. We'll never go back, and will not recommend them. read more

Really disappointed with my experience. Came in to discuss installing Bluetooth in my car, was quoted nearly $500 for it which I thought was extremely high but was in a tough spot and needed it to be done. Came back the following week to have it installed, and one of their employees walked to my car to doublecheck they had the right part and tried to tell me I needed to pay $50 more because they had to install a Tato model. Problem is, when I was there the first time they already told me this and charged me the higher price. I know he was trying to trick me into paying more because when I told him this he tried to argue it with me instead of backing off. That's when I said forget the whole thing and refund me to which he tried to make it sound like no big deal, they would do it for me no charge (despite me paying already for this, which I now feel is probably a scam in itself). So I'm not sure if the extra $50 labor charge is their standard MO to upcharge all customers, or just women who are trusting them to do the right thing because surprise, I am not a professional Bluetooth car installer. But whether it's equal opportunity scamming, or discriminatory, I will never step foot in there again and would recommend anyone considering their services look elsewhere read more

Horrible experience. I brought our Jeep Rubicon in for a detail yesterday. I purposely did not go with the Groupon because even though it's advertised as a detail, it really isn't. They will state as such if you ask them.. I agreed to pay almost $200 with tax for the interior detailing only. Waited 2 weeks for the appt. Dropped the car off last night and the sales person walked out with me to look at the car. All good based on what we planned. At 10:30AM today, I get a call that it is going to be $75 more. $50 for pet hair and $25 for the size of my car. I think our small dog was in the trunk 2x over several years. Not sure where they even found dog hair. We have a Jeep Rubicon which is an average sized car. The guy who I spoke to was not helpful and couldn't understand why I was not happy about the situation. He was rude and said if I won't pay it to come and pick up the car. Would not acknowledge the bait and switch. I asked to speak to the manager as well. He said the manager would just back him up. I insisted, so thr manager did get on the phone and would not budge. No one stated anything about possible extra charges when I dropped the car off. The manager stated, I should have had an installer look at the car and to think of this like you are getting repairs. How would I know that? Their employee walked out to the car, inspected it all and said it was an easy job because the car was just dusty and had rubber mats. The manager said things come up that you don't know of until you start work. Since their employee looked at the car and because I was not made aware of possible additional charges, that should have been on them. They would not budge, so we drove back and picked up the car. $200 for an interior detail is expensive as it is and then $275 is ridiculous. Then to throw the horrible customer service on top of that, I was very upset. We will never go back and will make sure and let others know. Waisted my husband and I leaving work to drop off the car and then go back to pick it up for nothing. read more

About 15 years ago, I found myself buying a new Honda Civic that replaced an older, cuter looking Civic. I had had a new audio system installed three years prior and I wanted to put that system into the new car. I called Car Toys up and told them the situation. They got me right in, tore out the system and boxed it up, and I rolled out to the Honda dealer I was using. Three weeks later, Car Toys technician was crawling all over the inside installing the new (old) system into my new car. They finished very late into the night. Fabulous job so I thought. Up until three years ago, the system was really great. Then some thievery took place and my Diamond amps got ripped! After contacting the appropriate people, I arranged for Car Toys to install mid-range Kicker Amps and a new sub. It sure didn't have the sound I was used to, but I was just glad to have a running stereo again. Two and a half years ago (2018), the system developed lots of problems electrically. About seven weeks ago, I said "ENOUGH OF THIS CRAP!" I'm gonna call Car Toys and get them to fix this problem! I emailed them and got no response. I waited another day and same thing. In this case, two strikes is OUT! I then called a firm up the street to ask if they'd be willing and interested in looking at the problem. All the guy said was "Car Toys?" I said yes and he said bring it on in. Long story short: that firm along with a list of things wrong was able to tell me what I needed to hear (what I really did NOT want to hear). But I did learn that sometimes a firm's reputation can suffer due to its own ineptitude and not following through like they should. Yes, Car Toys regional office is going to get a letter from me detailing all of this, but I figure letting others know what happened so they can avoid it happening to them is a good thing. If any others are in the same predicament or are thinking of buying new toys for your vehicles, I urge you to look into the firm you intend to use and check them out carefully beforehand and before any work starts. Above all, make sure the firm talks to you before, during and after. Never rely alone on the reputation. It may be good, but its what they hide that can make or break your install from being great or merely mediocre when finished. As for me, Car Toys will never see a vehicle of mine in its bay ever again. read more

Everything worked out in the end, but I want to share my story so you know what you can expect. I'd had an auto start system installed here previously and the experience was good. This time, I wanted to replace my old aftermarket receiver with a newer model. I chose one that had all of the features I was looking for and added a backup camera as well. The shop charges twice what other local shops charge for labor, but I figured they do good work and that was important to me. When I picked up my vehicle, there were several features that weren't working properly. Music would stream through Bluetooth, but my phone would not; the unit didn't dim when headlights were turned on; steering wheel controls did not function; the backup camera they installed was very loose (it moved around all over and wasn't flush to the vehicle like it should've been); wiring was left unbundled and dangling underneath the vehicle; fog lights did not work. When I brought all of this to the attention of the manager, Robert, he said he'd take a look, but I needed to schedule another appointment. He was initially receptive, but as the list grew he started acting like I was being difficult. Oh, the first employee I told these things to said "that unit doesn't have a dimmer function", but DIMMER is clearly in the settings - it just wasn't working. Robert told me that my factory wiring was faulty, that's why the dimmer function wasn't working (clearly a fib). The conversation turned to me telling him I was unhappy with the installation and that if he continued to make excuses I was going to lose confidence in the shop altogether. He never acknowledged that they should have made sure this stuff was correctly installed, but he kept the appointment to fix the issues. Two weeks later, after the installation technician had my vehicle for an entire day again, all of the features work properly, the wires are neatly bundled and the camera is adequately installed. The shop sells great quality products, but make sure they don't feed you a line of shit! read more

Worst management ever. Went in for warranty work of daughters car supposed to take four hours and five hours later as I've been waiting in store the entire time still no work done. I went and asked the manager if they where waiting on parts and he apologize for it taking so long he had to pull the tech off to help with another vehicle which the customer wasn't even there and then hell get back on mine. Excuse me I had an appointment and I was waiting. It took another three hour to finish for a total of eight hours when they told me mo more than four. Never again car toys and never recommend them at all very unprofessional as they had friends interrupting the installation by going in and out like it a play store. They said no problem we will get it right in. 5:30 rolls around my car hasnt moved from its parking spot. There is a reason why I made an appointment and drove from the Valley to have this done. My coworkers suggested going to Car Toys for my alarm after my car was broken into. The building is located on a seedy portion of Division next to a bus stop where people can get a little rowdy, but don't let that deter you--there is plenty of parking, it's nice inside, and they even make the employees clean the parking lot periodically. Nik was awesome! I went in on a Saturday to get a car alarm + remote start on my super-old Rodeo. Despite being a busy weekend, Nik came over immediately to help me. He told me of my options, then even left me alone to look at the specs/features on the store's internet so I could make a good decision in peace. After I decided on the model, Nik suggested some additional features, and explained each of them to me. When I chose the most economical route, he didn't pressure me further--and I'm glad he gave ME the option to say no to all the frills instead of just assuming. The shop supervisor came out and looked at my car and was very friendly, informative, and NOT condescending before they began the work. I was pretty impressed with the staff--no one treated me like an ignoramus just because I'm female like some car places will. The price was expensive, but I think it was reasonable and comparable to other places. When there was a discrepancy, Nik called me and told me about it right away, apologizing profusely all the while. Then he fixed the problem so we could stick to the original terms of the deal. So cool! Everything seems to work well and it is guaranteed for life at any of the Car Toys locations. I would recommend the Division location to all. read more

I don't mind sharing that the interior of my wife's car resembled what it would look like if a homeless person died in it! It was a mess. I found a good deal on Groupon for an interior detailing job through Car Toys. Knowing how badly my wife's car needed it, I decided to give them a shot. I took the vehicle in just after 9am on a Saturday. The gentleman who would be doing all the hard work (Seth) said it'll be an all-day job. I could either pick the car up around 6pm or wait until the following morning. My original choice was the latter. Seth finished much earlier than anticipated; he called me at 2:30pm to give me the good news. We arrived to find that the car's interior looked showroom new! What a change! Keep in mind that the car originally looked like a crime scene. Seth must've worked some serious magic because it was spotless. I plan to bring in our other vehicle, as well as have Car Toys do an exterior detail. Great work! read more

Bought my wife a remote start for Christmas for her 2016 Chevy Spark I told them I wanted to be able to use the factory remote they looked it up and sold me a remote start that would work but might have to unlock the car with the key no big deal, so I take it in after christmas 12-28-18 they call me back and tell me I need to spend another $87 to make it work they said they looked it up again and it needs this part. I think it's a scam I wasn't looking to spend a whole lot so I bought the set up they had for like $220 everywhere else was over $300 but the fact is I wanted to stay with the factory remote and they said the stuff they sold me would do it now I'll have to have a separate remote read more

What a good way to shut down a customer, I just called asking for an auto start on a car. Didn't ask much only if they had Auto Start! The guy on the phone response was. "Of course we have that, but Iam not about to go and tell you the price on all them, Iam not about to do all that work over the phone" WOW. First I never asked him to tell me all the prices On all of them. I just asked around how much would it cost. I just simply said thank you for your help and disconnected. Someone is definitely not having a good day at Car toys. (He never told me me a price). I know is a busy store but do you have to be that Rude or unprofessional? In the process of my truck being at the shop for 2 hours, somehow my taillight was damaged. Brand new aftermarket taillight destroyed. The shop tech denied any chance of involvement with the issue, and after the problem was brought to the store manager, the tech also denied the chance that it could've happened in the parking lot as well... so what is it, did it happen in the lot, or in your bay? You have to pick a lane on your defense. Extremely disappointed, I will be sure to let all my buddies know to avoid this skeevy location at all costs. read more

They were flexible with appointment schedules. I needed them to check out the subwoofer in my care and the gent who helped me was very knowledgeable and helpful. Didn't end up having any service done but he adjusted a few settings. My speaker worked much better after. Very helpful and speedy! Will return here for future problems. read more

6 hr appointment for a 150 dollar alarm. I was charged 550 in labor. My alarm is only connected in the front two doors, surprised bill after calling and asking what time to come I arrived when asked and was questioned by the manager why I would come if hadn't called which was wierd so sat another 30 minutes in the parking lot with screaming kids. Advertised remote start with drone for 399 including install. As I was being billed the first time the installer asked the manager why he was charging me 150 labor for one door when it was simple. Wierded me out so I dropped the one automatic door and my bill was still 550. 716 by the time I was out the door and they had my keys so what could I do he was the manager. Got my receipt and called corporate that was Sunday it's now Thursday with no answer. Alarm doesn't work in the backdoors where my tools actually go. I do not recommend them they didn't even look at my vehicle before they charged me. I should have went with sound on wheels. They probably think they got me for my stimulus but haven't gotten that. Also I believe they dented my door but good luck getting them to admit to that. You can also see a crowd of them smoking watching and chuckling as I waited for them to release my vehicle 30 minutes after they said to pick it up. Worst experience ever. read more

Brought my van in on a Friday to get a quote on a new radio/cd player/antenna with install. Tech looked it over to make sure the right conversion kits would be ordered. Salesman wrote up the quote and I got a copy. Told him I'd call back on Monday with my decision to go with it or not. Called back Monday ready to go ahead with the deal. Took them about 15 minutes to even "find" me in their "system". Was told that one kit needed to be ordered and that they would not schedule the work (three week or so backlog) until the parts were in hand - and that I would be notified when the parts were in to schedule an install date. Never heard from them again. Sure, it was only a $600 job and not 2-3K, but when someone says "don't call us, we'll call you" and then never does it indicates that they just don't care. read more
