I had an air conditioning issue in my car and tried two other car service places before calling Car-X. I was wasting my time. Car-X had me bring my car in the next day and had the AC fixed that afternoon. The price was very reasonable too. I prepaid for oil changes in advance and if I had not done so I would have left and taken my vehicle somewhere else. I will never go again due to their lack of customer service, the attitude of the "Mike"at the front desk, and the total lack of responsibility on their part. I called days in advance and made an appointment for 9am on Saturday. We go in and confirm the appointment. We are asked do if we want to stay and wait or drop off our vehicle and they would call us when it was done. With Covid-19 and trying to maintain social does tr dancing we left and waited for the call. 2 hours later we have heard nothing. So I go back in and ask about our vehicle,since our appointment was at 9am (it is now 11am). I am told that because we dropped it off we they have not gotten to it yet and they assumed that we were okay with picking it up "whenever", later in the day. I asked why we would have made an appointment with them if we did not expect to have it done around that time. They said they would try to get to it shortly. He was backed up from vehicles the day before that they were doing before ours. This encounter makes absolutely no sense to us at. Why would I make an appointment if I didnt plan to have it done at that time, and why does it matter if sit in their waiting room or in my car. We optimistically tried CarX because it was convenient to our home. I will NEVER go back, and I will go out of my way to go somewhere else. I do not reccomend. read more

After re arrange work and get ride to drop off this morning they said inspector not in today. Only one inspector in such busy location? there was other people in line to do same that turned around go somewhere else So lost business. unacceptable! read more

Took over 2 hours to get a state inspection. 20 mins after they told me my inspection was completed, I still didn't have my car. Beyond terrible service. read more

Made an appointment online, waiting over three hours for a confirmation per their email. Tried to contact by phone three times and no one answered. Went to schedule appointment and waited, nobody on-site. Mike (mgr) finally wandered in and said my appointment was only a request. This was my favorite auto repair location, but something went wrong. The management changed. I took my car in for an oil change and state inspection on August 22 2019 it was raining. My wife dropped the car off, I picked her up and we went for breakfast. Car-X called and said the car was ready we picked it up and drove home. My wife said that something was wrong and that sounds were coming from the back of the car. I looked at the car in the garage and saw a clipboard on the cars rear spoiler. Several pieces of paper were on the roof, stuck to the paint. The clipboard was upside down, on the roof and spoiler. Several small scratches were on the fiberglass spoiler. Went here because my check engine light was flashing, so it was an emergency and this was closest place. AutoZone said the check engine light was due to a bad engine coil, so we asked CarX to address the problem. Well they replaced the coil, and when I asked the mechanic if the engine light was off, he said no and that it will turn off on its own in a while. Well $500 later the engine light was still flashing, so I had to bring the car somewhere else to diagnose and fix the problem. Hard lesson to learn: the check engine light won't turn off on its own but needs to be cleared by the mechanic. Yes CarX did what I asked (replaced engine coil), but was very unprofessional in helping me diagnose the real problem and instead only took my $500 read more

In late November, my lift gate inadvertently closed on my sons bicycle. I called Car X to cancel a safety and emission inspection that I had scheduled with CarX due to the damage to my lift gate and Barry, (the shop manager) stated that CarX could handle this sort of repair job. I took my vehicle in and entrusted them with repair. They instructed me that my lift gate had bent but they were able to "unbend it" and that they had to replace a lift gate strut and a lift gate stud. I explicitly asked Barry if my lift gate would look crooked after this repair to which he replied that it would not. This repair cost more than my insurance deductible. I ended up in the hospital with pneumonia so when the repair was completed, my father in law picked the vehicle up for me. Upon seeing the vehicle I noted that the lift gate was badly crooked, one side of the lift gate was sunken in and the other side was jutting out, revealing the weatherstripping. It looked absolutely atrocious. Several plastic pieces were cracked from the lift gate hitting them at an incorrect angle. Driving the car was extremely noisy, lots of squeaking and rubbing noises. I called CarX to inform them that I was dissatisfied with this maladroit repair job. They acted as if noting was wrong with the car, I brought it back in and they said that they did the best they could do. I then took it in to my insurance recommended repair shop and the technicians were shocked that CarX would have attempted this repair, they informed me that my roof was bent and that the paint was already chipping due to this, they showed me where car X technicians had used hammers on my hinges and informed me that they had grossly overcharged for the parts they had put on, they charged me nearly $200 for a strut with a $50 list price, when confronted they said that they thought they had replaced the strut in the other side (reportedly the right and left strut are vastly different prices and of course they billed me for the higher one while replacing it with the cheaper one. I have tried to work this out with CarX but they are acting slowly and ineffectually. They took advantage of me financially billing about $600 an absolutely shoddy, unacceptable repair. I would like all fees refunded with exception of the fee for the emissions report and the ACTUAL fees for the parts used. I would like to see receipts for these parts. No other fee charged is merited. The issue was not fixed and they had no business touching my vehicle when they clearly lacked the knowledge and experience to properly address the issues. read more

I have used this Car-X several times for my car. They always provide great service and very reasonable prices. This last time I went, my car had a flat tire and I had to get two new tires. They were able to get me in on a Friday and put the tires on. Only took two hours and I was very happy with the service. So... Friday afternoon, my wife walks out of work, gets in her car and pulls out of her parking spot. She notices something isn't right and sees the light on her dash saying the passenger side rear tire is flat. She slowly drove down to the next available parking space, calls me, the tire that has a screw in it is only 2 months old. I'm a mechanic I've worked on every aspect of semi trucks and trailers for 14 years. (Including tire work) I come down to her work and remove the wheel I have a tire machine and balancer of my own at home, being 45 miles away in Friday's usual traffic I decided to go down highway K. The first place I see that has equipment to fix it is car-x I've never used them for anything, however, they seem to be the least busy of the 4 places right in this area that could potentially fix it. So go in and check if they have time to fix it. They said yes but it would be about an hour (Roughly 4:30 PM at this point.) before they could get to it and $25 (which is highway robbery to fix a flat especially when I already have the wheel off of the vehicle, but I'm at their mercy which is why they charge so much) I said fine, but I asked him to come out and look at it before I left to run some errands to check the placement of the screw and make sure he could fix it. (since I've been hit too many times with a run around about we couldn't fix it because of this or that which always boils down to, we decided it would be more profitable to just sell you a new tire.) He said yes, we can fix that no problem. He had my information and said he would call when it was done. (I'm pretty sure it was nathan I was dealing with?) So I left. Somehow I missed his call but I got the voicemail at 5:45 I wasn't very far away so instead of calling i decided to just go back. I got there at 6:10... They were closed! Granted I should have been paying attention to the hours but I didn't think much about it. My only choice was to go home. ( what angered me was that Firestone, Dobbs, and, Auto tire were all still open.) I called the next day, he informs me that they cannot fix it because after breaking down the tire they found the tire was full of rubber shavings due to being driven on while flat, although being the nice guy he was he had a quote made up for 4 new tires ready for me when I called. I told him I'd come take a look. He shows me one spec of rubber inside the tire and says see. No I didn't see. I said see these molding lines inside the tire. They aren't worn down at all. There's no indication that this tire isn't repairable. He said well I'm sticking by my tech. You do that, stick by your " tech " whose probably a 19 year old kid that looks for any and every reason to get out of work. Meanwhile I had brought another tire with me that I had just taken off the car about a week before. We can't mount that one either. The tread depth is too low. I admit it wasn't a great tire but it wasn't junk either. Whatever dude, give me my shit back I'm out of here. He informs me that all the other tire places will tell me the same thing. Well regardless, I'm going to a tire place (which car-x is not) for a second opinion. Down the hill to Auto Tire I went 30 minutes later I'm on my way to put the repaired tire back on the car. Auto tire has actual tire professionals who will help you, and from now on I'll send everyone I know to them. I wouldn't send my ex to car-x... it's hard to review car-x when there's no option for a negative number of stars. This is the first review I've ever written, I'm not an internet guru, that's how much I wanted everyone to know, and, in my opinion people that bad at tires can't possibly be good at mufflers either. read more

Never go here, my parents paid $4000 for a new engine in a Honda Civic and they kept the car for 8 months because they kept screwing up the engine and after we got it back, the engine went out after a few days so we took it back and they said we needed to pay another $1000 to put a new part in the engine they had just put in. We wanted to get a lawyer but that would have cost even more money that we did not want to waste on car x. In conclusion, they screwed us over and are not to be trusted. read more

Great Staff, Great Service. They always check to see what discounts are available without having to ask. They also try and find you the best possible deal even if they make less. My Kia Optima came with expensive low rider tires and they were able to find a lower cost option (50% less) with a better mileage guarantee. Also, a week before I blew out my tire, I had them do a wheel alignment. They offered to do a free wheel alignment after I blew out my tire without me having to ask. Just want to let everyone out there know that the Car X on Hwy K & N in O'fallon here, is a great place to get your car repaired. From the time we called the shop, Jason, the manager, was very professional, and detailed. He explained what could be going on with my car, and took us right away. When we needed to call back and forth for permission etc. he was very patient. After diagnosing what the problem was, he nicely explained to me what was going on and his team did a great job in repair. The prices are pretty reasonable too. I went here a little while ago and the manager working here gave me a false diagnosis and charged me $20 for his lies. The manager here told me my truck had a cracked block and a bad radiator fan and tried charging me $1000 for repairs. I had a second shop look at it and I only had a small gasket leak and nothing was wrong with my block or my fan. 8 months after I had a REAL mechanic fix my problem my truck still runs good as new. Watch out for this place they lie and are after your money. Especially the manager. read more

This place ripped off my elderly father and we will never use them again. Everything was fine until they got a new manager. My dad brought his car in for an alignment and the car came back worse than when it was brought in! The steering wheel now sits on a 45 degree turn! When my dad took the car back, all the manager said was that it was up to their specifications and that was it!!
