Awesome picture on wall that took my interest

I was craving a filet and saw the sign for best Latin Steak House, hidden behind hotel chain. The service was excellent! I did not have to ask for anything. The steak was good; I would have liked more seasoning. The steak was cooked as ordered. It's got a nice inside area, plenty of room for parties. I would suggest taking someone with you for company. They have a prime rib special on Wednesday.

While I'm usually in the Reno NV area, I happen to be in a place where I lived before .. Tubac AZ. 30 Miles North of Nogales AZ/Nogales Mexico. On the Arizona side lies this hidden gem. Who would think you would find such a great place in a Motel 6. But that is exactly where it is. Classifies itself as Caracu Latin Restaurant. I had one of the best steaks I've eaten in a restaurant in a very long time Medium rare ... was really medium rare. Dinner starts with a free appetizer of black eye peas ... I could inhale this stuff. Small black eye peas .. and I tasted, tomato, cilantro, onion, an exceptional olive oil and a splash of vinegar. It was so good we ordered a side to take home. For our entree we decided on Filet Mignon ... $35 for an 8 oz filet, perfectly cooked. On the plate was a small side salad, roasted rosemary potatoes, and a piece of garlic toast. Half that filet will be in tomorrow night's salad dinner at home. We shared a (wish I actually remembered the name) apple, cinnamon, cake with bourbon (?), a scoop of vanilla ice cream and drizzled with caramel sauce. Outstanding. Looking forward to going back and having a "appetizer dinner" .. really want to try their pulpo (octopus). Our waitress, Vivian, was a delight. If you're in town for the Tubac Festival of the Arts ... drive 20 minutes to exit 4 on Rt. 19. Get off at Mariposa .. make a wide left (there are 2 left lanes) and a quick right into the Safeway parking lot ... Caracu is to the left .. can't miss the sign. Live music on the weekends, beginning around 7PM.

This is one of those hidden gems I'm only down in Nogales for work, but I definitely will be coming back just for this. This is some of the best octopus and ceviche I've had the ceviche itself just melts in your mouth has amazing flavor profile the octopus came with all the fixings to make the best tacos, the service was fantastic and they even had live music playing. It was a guy playing a saxophone playing a few playing the piano, playing the guitar and singing just 100% an amazing place to have a date.

Ask for my steak medium well. Never got service after cutting into it. That's why my plates empty except for the steak.

Overpriced for a little bit of food. Very poor service. Ask for my steak to be medium well, got it rare. After the food was dropped off did not get any further service or nobody even asked me if my steak was cooked properly. Therefore everything was eaten but the steak.

It feels like you're tucked away in an intimate little wine cellar, which makes the whole experience feel special. It can get a little tight in the seating area when it's busy, but honestly, I think it's worth it. The wine glasses are clean (which should be a given, but sadly isn't always!), and the wine is delicious. They also have an entire bowl of pickles that you can order, and as a pickle lover, I was very happy about this. The bread and butter is simple, but sometimes simple is exactly what you want with a glass of wine. But the star of the show for me was the pinto hummus. I know hummus is made from beans, but it somehow never occurred to me to make it with the humble pinto bean. Whoever came up with that deserves a round of applause. Chef's kiss. So freaking good. Sunshine Wine has great wine, a cozy atmosphere, and food that's creative without trying too hard. I'm definitely coming back for that pinto hummus alone.

My concern is with the food--none of the dishes we ordered tasted good, and the price was high for the portions we received. The ceasar salad, for example, was bland, and the dressing was salty and bitter. When compared to the salad at a restaurant just down to road, I found this one inedible. I rarely write reviews and I don't do this in a mean-spirited way--I would love to see a local restaurant and bar succeed. It is just that we paid $83 for two drinks and 4 small plates, and couldn't eat two of them and left hungry. I hope the food can improve!

Emmett and Lily sure know how to make all their customers feel right at home and it's obvious how much everyone appreciates their hospitality. Queen of Cups is my favorite place for small bites and wine when I am in Patagonia. I miss the rotating menu they used to offer but now that they are in full swing with it being a winery, I love that they still have appetizers to pair with all the delicious wines they make. While they most definitely knew how to throwdown some delicious food, I can appreciate that their focus is on wine because I have been to almost ever winery between Sonoita and Elgin and while I have a few favorites, Queen of Cups if the only winery I have ever been to where every single wine they put out is nothing short of excellent (including white wines, and I used to be a red wine only gal). To say that Queen of Cups is one of the best wineries I have ever been to would be an understatement. I have so many good memories with friends and family over meals, wine beer & cocktails shared both at the bar and their adorable outdoor patio. They no longer serve beer/cocktails but those were nothing short of amazing while they lasted. Definitely stop by for a wine tasting, you will not be disappointed. What an amazing little gem in the lovely town of Patagonia.

The location is great - a strip mall with plenty of parking and surrounded by restaurants, and you are invited to carry-in food. The decor is nothing special, if you look up you see all the plumbing and ductwork. We arrived at 5:45 and got the last table in the house. Best to come early or late, as it seemed to clear out a bit at 7:15PM when we left. Our table was way in the back, but we were glad to be back there as the music wasn't quite so loud. Speaking of music the band was truly exceptional. We enjoyed every minute of the live entertainment. We were looking for something to nosh on - there was a food truck out back serving burgers, but we went for the large charcuterie tray which was perfect for the 4 of us (see photo). The beer and wine menu is not huge - there is basically one "on tap" for every kind of style, and there are big fridges if you want to buy a bottle or can. We all found something to enjoy. We have added this place to our list to take visitors, it makes for a very enjoyable evening and I highly recommend it.

The live music could be heard outside, that's the reason for checking out the inside! Those Latin vibes !! Warmth and happiness can be heard as the bartender welcomes you in the door! My recent visit to Nogales, not much here to do after work! The long hard day has set in as a drink is welcoming. Come play with me! Across the border from the hotel center my journey led me astray. Let's get obsessed with an adult libation. The days are long when you travel across the road. Moving from town to town. Stop in and do the work, then go. I found some happy and a special obsession here. Who's been to a bar in Mexico? This is not that typical bar in the states. The bartender is so inviting he's ready to make an obsession just for me. The music is playing real loud. As I sit it's a Crown on the Rocks with Lime for starters. The music plays in the back ground, you cannot help yourself from wanting to shake your groove thing to the rhythm. What's on tap? Mexico's finest beers! Whatever you need the bartender can pour you! All you need is to ask! My Spanish is "muy pequenos." But I'm fluent enough to order a drink or two. Not many individuals in the bar. It's quaint and a decent place to drink. Rules rules. This is not the United States; it's a bar in Mexico. The mask rule is not enforced "as much." It's truly an experience. One must come for themselves. Nogales is the other side of the border, so do yourself a favor and walk through the fence to this side of Mexico. The lines getting through the gates are long. Make sure you have your papers, so you can get back. No driving while drinking. Now that we have a way back home after drinking let's go for a few rounds of margaritas. The tequila in Mexico is "authentic." The bartender makes a mean margarita. At my request he added fresh jalapeños to the top. What's not to love? Strong and delicious margaritas made with the authentic alcohol of choice here in Mexico. Tequila and more tequila. The bar is clean. The service is excellent. Get out there and dance your fever away or just kick back and drink soaking up the local culture. Either way it's a win win! Time to bring this journey to a close. My obsession is quenched for now. Let's ponder the mysteries of the universe. Count those blessings as we wave bye bye to the bartender. Thank you again for all the cheers that we have done. Now the road leads me home. To the next obsession I'll raise this last toast too!
