I'm so glad there's finally a new neighborhood bar like Caraways in Countryside! From the moment you walk in, the owner and staff make you feel welcome. They're incredibly friendly and actually take the time to remember their customers, which gives the place such a personal and community feel. The atmosphere is relaxed, comfortable, and perfect whether you're meeting friends or just unwinding after a long day. They have a really good selection of draft beers and cocktails, so there's always something great to try. The food is amazing too -- definitely beyond what you'd expect from a neighborhood bar. One thing I really appreciate is that they use beef tallow to fry their food, which gives everything incredible flavor and feels like a healthier, more traditional option compared to seed oils. This has quickly become one of my favorite spots. I keep coming back just to hang out, grab a beer or cocktail, and enjoy the welcoming vibe. My wife and I went to Caraway's for the first time. It was excellent. The Short Rib grilled cheese and the French Onion burger with Garlic Parmesan bread knots were very tasteful. Nice enough typical mall bar and the good news is since it's getting warmer the front windows are open, but the bad news is smokers go outside and the smoke blows right in like they are standing next to you. Disgusting. They need to move way far away. read more

Went for dinner last night. Found the food to be underwhelming. Ordered baked French onion soup and it was nothing special, comparable to what you would get at a chain like Applebees. We have driven past this place for the last year and were always wanting to try it, and we finally stopped in! We were extremely impressed, from start to finish. The mojito was absolutely perfect and my husband got the pineapple old fashioned-also incredible. We ordered the cheese curds, which were lightly breaded and delicious. We also tried their jumbo shrimp app, (wam bam shrimp) and they knocked it put of the park. The Philly cheesesteak sandwhich was phenomenal, (my husband literally did not put it down) and the chicken caprese sandwhich was a perfectly balanced flavor profile! The food was GREAT! But, honestly, what made this place even better was the staff. It's truly family owned and from the servers to busboys to owners, you could really feel the positive vibe and pride everyone had in being a part of this place. This place is so cute, great music, workers, and patrons. Food looks great but did not try it on this trip. One area of improvement is the Bloody Mary needs to be better. You need zing zang as the mix, celery salt, worchester, little spice. The skewers of meat and cheese and celery and carrot were great. It was just a bit bland. Irish legend, Irish times and Raffertys have better bloodys. Let's get this drink fixed before football starts! Will definitely be back! read more

The food is pretty good but doesn't always come out of the kitchen hot. They keep raising their prices. They have only been open a few months and have raised their prices 3 times on certain things. $16 for two meatballs is ridiculous. read more

We were traveling and thought Caraways looked like a great place for a quick meal. The vibe inside was nice and lots of people were at the bar. People came in after us and the waitstaff took care of them first, then the 9pm kitchen close occurred while we were waiting and we were told that we could not order. This seemed unfair because people that came in after us were able to order. Seems like their staff needs more training. Very disappointing. read more

Friends told us to try this new place, looked great from outside. Inside is a great bar but very tight at their tables. There is another area away from the bar in a different room facing parking lot with more tables. Service was alright but probably to be expected so early upon opening,. We ordered burgers and it was very salty and really not much to brag about. For the same $, burgers are much better at other places and are larger and have better flavor. For our sides we had fries and tots. Nothing more than it being heated up from a frozen bag, not much flavor. It seems they want to be an upscale neighborhood bar but their food is nothing to brag about for the prices they are charging. Hopefully it will get better after ironing out their early opening issues and find a good chef. read more

2nd visit to Caraway's was a bust The first time we went to Caraway's was great. The food was good and the wait staff for our table was great and attentive even though it was very busy. We went back on Monday 9-8-25 to have dinner and watch the Bears game. We sat at the bar. The bartender gave us menus and asked us what we wanted to drink. We said we needed a minute to decide. She left. She waited on some regulars that came in after us, she knew what they drank and had it as soon as they sat down. Then she waited on others on the other side of the bar. We were ready and tried to get her eye. But, she NEVER looked in our direction again. She waited on the other side of the bar really well. She rand the register, about 3 feet form us, and always turned away from us when done. Taking care of regulars she was fantastic. Greeted one by running out of the bar and giving him big hug and talking for several minutes. By now we were really upset. We'd been there 15 minutes without even a glance in our direction. Obviously she only cares about her regulars. Newbys don't matter at all. We left and walked 3 doors down to Uncle John's where we were greeted as soon as we sat down and were well taken care of all the time we were there. We may give Caraway's another try. But if that woman is at the bar we'll turn and walk out. We'll not be treated like that again. read more

Service was horrible. Our waitress wasn't friendly and kept forgetting to bring things to our table. All seats were high tables. My grandma cannot sit in a high table. Two low tables that were literally on top of each other. Might as well have joined the family next to us. Not a disability friendly restaurant. Very disappointed! Called in the afternoon to make a reservation since we have a wheelchair and they only take reservations for 8 or more. Said we could walk right in. When we got there was asked if we wanted to sit at the bar, my husband can not get out of the chair into a barstool. All high tops inside the bar area. The outside area was low tops but were either filled or reserved. No apology or trying to accommodate some how or asking if we wanted to wait a few minutes etc....
